I can hear you! Wow, these new hearing aids are the best investment I've made in a long time. Not extremely happy with old aids, I decided to give their new OPN aids a try. Natural sounds are enhanced. The clarity is significant. No background distortion. And comfort, the best. I forget I have them on. Even works well with glasses. Although my hearing is fine, I accompany my husband to the Whittier Hearing Center for his appointments. I see all facets of the business while I'm there. Our main contacts are Maria, who pleasantly makes all of his appointments and is able to accommodate his busy work schedule, and Liz, our hearing specialist. Both of these ladies are amazing! Liz did all of his hearing tests and professionally discussed his options. She worked with our insurance company to make sure he got the best aids possible. And her follow up has been thorough. I am a long time customer at The Whittier Hearing Center. I cannot say enough about how much gratitude I have for all of the years of caring and support that they have provided. When I come here, I don't look at it as if I'm going to "an appointment", but rather it's like visiting "Family" most recently, I had a significant loss of hearing. I was having a hard time communicating with everyone around me. I blamed it on the hearing aids that I was using previously. For several months, I could not get clarity from people's voices. Everything sounded muffled. I constantly asked people to repeat what they were saying. I felt helpless, and I found myself shutting down. I began to order groceries online because it was too difficult to communicate with the cashier, if I wanted to go into a coffee shop, my daughters had to come with me so that they could communicate for me. I slowly began to shut down at home. During this time, I was seeing doctors, having hearing exams, seeing specialists, and battling with my insurance company to try to get approval for a second set of hearing aids. You see, I could have ordered a set online, or I could have gone to a store like Costco to buy a set that was "affordable", but in the long run, it would not have been the same - those hearing aids would not have worked for my needs. The staff at Whittier Hearing Center have been with me every step of the way. Lizette Gamas and Doctor Gilbert, along with everyone else have taken the time to really understand the underlying causes of my hearing loss. They connected me with other sources to ensure that I had all of the support and assistance that I needed in getting the right hearing aids. We are all different and when it comes to hearing loss, it takes so much more than researching online or having a 30 minute hearing exam to find the hearing aids that are best suited for ourselves. I am happy to say that with TLC, a genuine interest in helping people with hearing loss, and most importantly, the many years of experience, knowledge and training that everyone here at Whittier Hearing Center has, I was given the gift of hearing. I have my life back! I'm so excited to be able to get back outside and communicate with people. I can be around family and friends again and participate in meaningful conversations. I'm able to do my job at work. Lizette and Dr. Gilbert have provided me with the tools that I needed to move forward with my life. I'm smiling again and so is everyone around me. Whittier Hearing Center has been taking care of my hearing needs for 30+ years. I was diagnosed with hearing loss in Preschool. I only have hearing in my right ear, so it's ALL or NONE for me! They always know how to make it work RIGHT (hearing aids, molds, replacement tubes, filters, Bluetooth accessories, batteries, etc). They are always patient with me and provide the correct solution to my problems (I'm very picky and know what I want to hear). I have referred numerous friends, family, and clients to WHC (when anyone wants to know where I got my Hearing Aid....... I always tell them Whittier Hearing in Uptown on Philadelphia Street since I've been going there for 30 years). Today I have a fast paced career and travel frequently for work. I'm in airports on conference calls with my amazing digital hearing aid that has Bluetooth that connects to my I Phone. When it became screamingly (and that was sometimes the only way I could hear what was going on) obvious that the years of loud noises from cars, manufacturing shops, and the like, had taken their toll on my hearing, I conceded the obvious point that I now needed hearing aids, and started comparing devices and providers. All that research led me to Whittier Hearing Center, and a good thing it did. Right from the start they took a real interest in my situation, did a careful analysis, then we discussed their findings and recommendations. Short version: I was fitted with (American made--YAY!) hearing aids, and still marvel at what I was missing. Many of their technicians are hearing-impaired, so they know exactly what the patients are going through. Lizette did most of the work on my case; she gets my eternal gratitude. After a little tinkering (ears have very complicated shapes), I can wear the devices comfortably all day. I hugely recommend these folks. read more

The staff is great. The waiting room is nice with goodies galore. The doctors have been helpful and attentive. No five stars because the location is terrible. So far to drive - and the parking is usually lacking. When you do find a spot the sidewalks are so narrow and difficult to maneuver for those unsteady on their feet. It's nice for an old, quaint neighborhood, but not good for the elderly to visit a doctor. read more
