I understand the business model is to be overly nice and 'helpful', but it just comes across as pushy, aggressive and very annoying.

We have always had great customer service from all employees. They are knowledgeable about products and we never were made to feel dumb asking new puppy parent questions. Once our puppy was fully vaccinated we signed up for puppy training through Petco. The puppy training has been awesome. We signed up for 12 weeks worth of classes and are in week 10. The trainer (Jennifer) is great and very hands on. She takes the time to work through specific issues we are having. The prices are some of the best around and they have a great online store that ships to your home and does auto ship for food. We have a big dog so autoship is helpful. Long story short, we love Petco

A couple weeks ago we scheduled my dog to get a groom. I usually groom my dogs myself but it's good to have a professional reset every once in awhile. First time I went in I forgot her paper work which was entirely my fault. Second time I came in with her paperwork they looked over everything including my dog, but then didn't ask me till the very end if I was over 18 or had an adult with me. I'm not 18 yet. Had to have a family member drive over just to sign the paper for her to be dropped off. Then I come to pick her up, by myself. I wait a good few minutes before someone comes out to help, she starts with " do you have an adult with you?" ... no? I don't because I was never told the other two times I was in here already that I would need someone over 18 to pick up my dog. Have to call my family member back over to the store so I can pick up my dog. I hate to be so judgmental but the people who work at this store really have no idea what they're doing. Zero communication and in all honesty they were pretty short with me. They acted like they had no interest in helping me. My dog has a decent groom, I'm not in love with it but they got the few big knots out that she had and did a good hygiene cut. Overall, super unhelpful people.

I've ran into the same issue multiple times with Dee-O-Gee. I recently dropped off my female Bernese Mountain dog for a full grooming at 9:30AM. At 2:15pm, I called to check on the status of my dog, and the person working told me she was almost done drying and was next to be groomed....fine...I'm not going to be that guy. I call back 5:05pm since I haven't heard anything..... MY DOG IS STILL WET AND DRYING and has not been groomed!!! ....again they give me the excuse she takes a long time to dry....almost 8 hours of drying!!! Why did they schedule my appointment at 9:30am if they couldn't groom my dog timely? Who knows if they've given my dog water or a potty break. It is local in the center of town, staff have been trained in a wide variety of animal knowledge and are able to help answer questions to visitors and repeating customers alike. This is my second bird (green cheek conure) from this place, it has been hand fed and is tame due to the important daily interactions it receives from staff giving consistent scheduled feedings to ensure the bird is perfectly healthy to take home.
