While most of my meal was enjoyable I had a very large bone in my pulled pork. I do understand that these things happen I would expect the manager would be at least a little apologetic about a clearly bad experience. The manager was present as I was voicing this issue, she looked said nothing and then continued to nonverbally dismiss my complaint. The only thing that kept this experience from being worse is the EMPLOYEE that took our order was apologizing to me. I give the manager on duty two thumbs down, because she said nothing and then turned her back on me as if my complaint was nothing. The other employees there apologized for the negative experience. I would expect the manager to have handled this better. I would strongly advise Whole Hog to train this manger in how to handle customers better. I know we all have bad days but, that does not make it ok to just dismiss my complaint. I even said as the employees were apologizing to me, "I mostly just wanted the manager to be aware." Tried Whole Hog while visiting Little Rock just this week. Food was really quite good. Had ribs and the rub is good--nice and tenderly cooked. Family had brisket and pulled chicken, all of which is good. Nice variety of sauces if you want them. The sweet is too sweet for me but my wife liked it--I had the spicy and it was good and not crazy spicy either. Oh and try the corn if you go--that stuff is delicious! read more

This is one of my favorite barbecue joints in Little Rock! The meat is always flavorful and you feel satisfied when you're done. Staff is friendly and helps when you don't know what to get. Only sad thing is the portions seem to get smaller every time I visit but I get the economy is bad. Sitting inside is great, great ambiance, but taking it home is my favorite. I'll be honest, BBQ has become one of my favorite dinner. I stopped by for dinner and was glad I did. We ordered two pulled pork sandwiches which were $8 each, it's a great deal! Tons of meat and was more than filling. We also got the smoked chicken Caesar salad. I loved this salad, it was more than enough for 2 people to share and be busting at the seams. I honestly could not find any fault with our food. During a work event later that week I choose to use Whole Hog to cater. I didn't see a catering size salad on the menu but when I called the woman was more than happy to assist by letting me place the order online. Don't sleep on Little Rock when it comes to Q! This place was slammin! The only reason they're getting 4stars instead of 5 is because they were out of mac n cheese when we ordered. My wife is a mac n cheese fanatic, so this was naturally what she was looking forward to. Despite that, their Q was delicious, so don't let that detract you from giving this spot a whirl. Also, pro tip-it is extremely loud inside, so if you're looking to eat in a calmer environment, I suggest going right outside to their park benches. Delicious food and very courteous staff. This is a nice Little Rock restaurant. They have some very good "Q". All the awards they received are well deserved. Parking here is very easy. They have a huge parking lot that they share with the other businesses in the strip mall it is located. The restaurant has a huge 2 section dining area. I had a group of 8 and we did not have an issue finding a table. I found a lot of items that caught my eye on the menu. I narrowed it down to the burnt ends and jalapeno sausage. They were able to put those two together in a meal for me with a side of baked beans and potato salad, which I greatly appreciated. It took about 8 minutes for me to get my food and it was fresh and hot. The sausage and burnt ends lived up to my expectations and did not disappoint. I highly recommend them. The potato salad and baked beans were pretty good too. The baked beans had a bunch of meat in it that just enhanced the flavor. The staff there was very nice and friendly. I must admit, they were awesome. The restaurant was very clean, especially for a barbecue joint. I was glad that my friends recommended this joint to me. Before dropping my son off at UCA a coworker looked up places I should try on my way back home to Dallas. We saw Whole Hog had great reviews and claimed award winning ribs. Let's just say, I was not disappointed!!!!! The ribs were AWESOME! My son tried the #3 BBQ at the table ('spicy') and said mom you gotta try it and he was right! The baked beans were great. Loved the red potato salad! The ONLY thing I that was missing was cornbread instead of that dry roll. Even good ol plain bread would have been better. This is probably the best in Little Rock, the best around that's a different story. Ribs were really good, St. Louis cut so more fat easier to brown along with Jalapeno sausage were the two winners of the bunch. Brisket was less impressive, not overly dry but not juicy either, missing smoke ring should've set me off. Cole slaw was decent and potato salad wasn't bad either. Place is clean and food came out quick, eat and go, was just what I wanted to do. Self serve sauce and nothing drenched in sugar paste let the meat stand out. 2 thumbs up for Whole Hog! read more

Acceptable BBQ-- not great. Ordered take out. By the time we got it to the house 10 minutes later it was cool. Pulled pork was dry, very little smoke taste, even before we warmed it up. The baby back ribs were good, although slathered in a sweet sauce, so its hard to know how they prepared them. (boiling first?). The smoked sausage was the crowd favorite. Restaurant got our sauce selections totally wrong. The beans are very sweet - if you like that. Just too sweet for me. Slaw was probably the best thing we got. I eat a lot of BBQ and have been educated by some of the best chefs around and while Whole Hog Cafe's BBQ is acceptable, i is certainly not exceptional. read more

If you've read my reviews on bbq then you know I take Q way too serious. We arrived around 6:30 roughly but we're waiting for some family so we didn't order to around 7 pm. The sign for burnt ends said "available" so I had my order so I thought. Ordered a pound of burnt ends - they said they only had about enough for a plate. Well technically they were available but that's a failure. Anyway I ordered the burnt ends plate with beans & slaw. My wife and son split a rack of ribs. My burnt ends definitely tasted like they were all that was left. They were tough and salty. The flavor was ok but not a fan. In fact I would be hard pressed to try these again. The beans & slaw were ordinary. The ribs were overcooked but tasty. The sauce/glaze was good but again just fell apart. When I say fell apart you couldn't eat a rib - you needed a fork. - way overcooked My daughter came in a little after me. I tried her sausage. This was actually really good and worth buying. Honestly it was the best of the meal. What I did enjoy were the 6 different sauces. I always like different sauces. These were really decent and worth experimenting with. The staff was very nice. Moist pulled pork (last couple plates there, pork dried out), delicious sausage w/jalapeño and cheese, tasty juicy ribs (last ones we got seemed dry). Love the potato salad and the slaw is right on (picky on slaw)! Rows were fresh & soft. Service great, friendly helpful staff. Laid back atmosphere. Not crowded - worked great for senior citizen in walker after knee surgery. Lots of tables, not just booths important for the challenged. We visited Whole Hog on Markham after Disney on Ice on a Sunday at 5:30pm with a family party of 8. They were efficient in their ordering process while not making us feel rushed, quick to get food out, and allowed us to sit in the party room with our small children. They had people spaced out for seating and were quick to get orders out to keep traffic minimum at the register. In our party, we had brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, baked beans, potato salad, French fries, and Mac and cheese. Not a single complaint from anyone! My wife and I had an early lunch here yesterday. Pulled into the strip mall parking lot thinking - can good BBQ be found in a strip mall restaurant? Answer = yes! Ambience clean, plenty of seating & the blues playing just loud enough to improve a mood but quiet enough to have a casual conversation. Service - greeted with perfect courtesy and a very friendly smile. Our order was ready soon after we were set (drinks & flatware). Food - we shared the Hog Platter. Ribs fall of the bone tender and flavor had us gnawing the bone. Brisket was a little dry but still tender - same with the pulled Pork. Very good slaw and we really like the Potato Salad. Fair price for the portions. We split the platter and still left feeling too full. Would've given 5 stars had the Brisket and Pork been a little more moist but given the chance to eat here again - will definitely go back! read more
