If you're looking for a spot in Charlotte that actually delivers on flavor and vibe, State of…read moreConfusion is one that lives up to the hype. The menu leans Latin-American with some Southern influence, and you can tell there's real intention behind the food--not just trendy plating. A few dishes that really stand out: * CrispyPan Seared Chicken - super clean execution, great char, and balanced with bright, fresh flavors. It's simple but done right. * Fried Beef Tacos - easily a must-order. Crispy, rich, and layered with acidity so it doesn't feel heavy. * Ceviche - fresh, citrusy, and well-seasoned. You can tell they're not cutting corners here. * Street Corn (Elote) - bold, messy, and exactly what you want it to be. * Gator Bites - crispy on the outside, tender inside, and packed with flavor. Fun dish that's actually executed well--not just a gimmick. The atmosphere is just as strong as the food--high energy, great patio, and a space that feels alive without being overwhelming. It's the kind of place you can take a team, a date, or just roll in after work and still feel like you made the right call. Service is typically on point too--friendly, quick, and they keep things moving even when it's busy, which matters. Only thing that throws people off sometimes is parking, but don't let that stop you: There is parking behind the restaurant if the main lot is full. Overall, this is one of those spots that hits consistently--good food, strong execution, and a vibe that keeps people coming back.

We ordered a couple of items, including mocktails, and while the food and drinks were just OK and didn't quite stand out compared to other spots, the service more than made up for it--the staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable.  Overall, it's a great place to hang out if you're looking for a lively vibe and excellent service, even if the menu isn't the main highlight.

Meh. When you need…read moreto be aggressive with a knife to get thru a rack of ribs, things aren't great. They didn't promise "fall off the bone" so I can't expect that, but most places I get ribs they just tear apart. This took work, and the mass of BBQ sauce slathered on makes the surgery a mess. So, that was a bummer. The tots lack creativity or any sort of seasoning which seems like an easy upgrade and a crowd pleaser. Oh well. Maybe I got there in a bad day, but if this is standard then I can't see not going to Noble Smoke next time I need ribs.

Super smoky flavor, incredibly tender (the meat slides off the bone), and very juicy. The sauces were also both delicious. I liked the Carolina BBQ slightly more than the VTX. The only thing that could've made this any better is if they were also crispy on the outside. Down South Eggrolls (4/5): I love an eggroll, and these were solid. Very crispy shell but the inside tasted mostly just like mac and cheese. I couldn't even tell there was pulled pork in it... The sauce was also very good. Sweet and tangy. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Catfish on point and fresh. Loved the space. Comfortable and welcoming. The server was a rockstar. He made excellent recommendations and told me about the Mac and Cheese. I am really torn on this place. It could be great, but there are just problems. Which is too…read morebad, because it is kinda cool First.... My wife and my SIL both ordered the avocado toast and added a sunny side egg. It was weird because usually they would put the egg on top, but they buried the egg under the greens. Both eggs were completely cold and the yolks congealed. Weirdly ice cold, like they came out of the fridge. I ordered the Gary's BBQ sandwich which is the most expensive sandwich in the menu. It is supposed to be pulled pork, BBQ sauce, Mac and cheese and onion frizzles. Well there were no onion frizzles and while there was BBQ sauce, there was virtually no on pork. Literally 1/2 a teaspoon on the sandwich. A tiny shred here or there. It was just a grilled cheese with macaroni between the very good sourdough bread. Also, mediocre frozen French fries. None of us will return.
