With a simple Google search I found out that Caviar & Delicatessen sells cozonac for Easter, a sweet bread, traditional for Romania. I realized they are close to me and checked them out. Caviar & Delicatessen took over a Russian deli about 1 year ago. Don't know about any caviar here, now it's a Romania Deli with owners from my neck of the woods, they do sell products for the Russian and Armenian community. I called and paid $10 as down payment for a cozonac to place my order with the older owner, who was very nice. Went to pick it up and checked out the store. They sell imported items: jellies, spreads, canned goods, juices, soft drinks from Eastern Europe. A bit pricey, but they are imported, not their fault (yes, tariffs!). They also sell fresh vegetables, fruit, bread. They make desserts and many salads, dips (boeuf salad=Russian salad, hummus, babaganoush, eggplant salads- salata de vinete and zacusca, bean dip), prepared food- roasted potatoes , meatballs in tomato sauce, schnitzel, kebabs, fried fish. They also had drob for Easter. Everything looked fresh and inviting! It was fun to browse and explore the merchandise! Tables outside! My cozonac was big, delicious, well made. It was rich in ingredients: cocoa, walnuts, raisins, great filling! It is a very hard dessert to make, I am not gonna even try. But it was a major treat to buy it ready to go in LA and the quality is outstanding! It's worth the price because they use all the right ingredients! I got painted eggs, well done, the bean dip was terrific, the mititei (our version of kofta) were so good, meat well blended, all the right spices. You get them frozen here, a decent amount, we'll have them a few times. I never made them, but they came well off the grill, tasted like in restaurants in Bucharest. Ready to go back and shop more goodies. 1 star lower because of the service, the girl couldn't find my order, had to step in, helped other ladies ahead of us, even if we were there first! Service was slow, she forgot to take $10 deposit off my final bill. Had to step in. Also, I couldn't charm my way into placing an order for pasca (didn't know they make it) sweet cheese Easter dessert. As a first time customer I couldn't convince the owner's son, he was tad curt. Maybe too much on his plate. Live and learn, note to myself to place orders ahead of time. I grabbed some things I can't get near my home, including traditional Hamantaschen cookies to celebrate the holiday. I bought the poppy seed Hamantaschen from Antikovich Bakers. Ten damn dollars for that garbage. Hands down, they were the worst Hamantaschen I have ever had in my entire life. They were so bad I'm genuinely shocked they're even allowed to be sold in the United States. The cookies themselves were awful, but the so-called "poppy seed" filling was the absolute worst -- it was just a weird, disgusting paste with almost no poppy seeds at all (check the ingredients list, it's pathetic). There was barely any filling inside, and the cookies weren't even properly folded around it the way real Hamantaschen are traditionally made. Instead, the factory just slapped a tiny drop of that slop into a cookie that only pretends to be a Hamantaschen. It was fake news from top to bottom. The packaging was a straight-up scam. The bottom of the container curves inward, stealing about half the space so it holds way less than it looks like. Then they slapped a huge sticker on the lid that completely blocks your view inside, so you can't see how empty it actually is. The cookies are just staggered around the center like some cheap trick. Someone went the extra mile to design the perfect packing scam -- and then had the nerve to fill it with the worst Hamantaschen a human being could possibly produce. On the same trip, I also bought some Israeli Elite instant coffee in hazelnut flavor. The only good thing was that it was on sale -- almost half price compared to the regular Elite coffee and the mocha flavor. It was about $6 instead of the usual $12, so I was pleasantly surprised and grabbed a few containers. Biggest mistake ever. When I got home and actually looked at the bottom of the containers, I saw the printed codes. I had to research them online to understand what they meant. Turns out the coffee was heavily expired. I bought it in March 2026, and it had expired in December 2024 -- well over a year ago. WTF?! Why the hell is Cambridge selling products that expired more than a year ago? They slashed the price in half, which means they damn well knew it was expired and deliberately put it on the shelf to dump it on unsuspecting customers. That is a scam, plain and simple. There's no way to sugarcoat it. The attached photos show everything I'm talking about -- the pathetic filling, the deceptive packaging, the expired dates. Read the ingredients, look at the details. It's all right there. Unreal. By the time I discovered all this crap, I was already back home and it wasn't worth driving all the way back to the Valley to return it. So I guess this was an expensive lesson I had to learn the hard way. Cambridge, you need to do some serious soul-searching. Either start inspecting the quality of the garbage you're pushing on your customers, or do everyone a favor and go out of business.

I tried the dulce de leche flavor. It was very small, and while the taste was okay, it had a somewhat artificial flavor. Overall, it wasn't worth the price. Caramel Turtle: 7/10 A decent dessert with caramel, pecans, and chocolate. Nothing particularly memorable, but it tasted good. Amaranth Milk Chocolate: 3/10 The teddy bear design was adorable, but the flavor was very strange. The texture reminded me of Styrofoam, and it had an odd plastic-like aftertaste. I also felt like the employees were rushing us to leave the store, which made the experience less enjoyable. The interior was cute and well-decorated, but unfortunately the food and service didn't live up to the presentation. I wouldn't come back. Total (w/o tip): $31.25
