I'm not sure whether I can fault them for that, given that half the country seemed to be there for the Hawaii Bowl. Took a stroll through Waikiki with the purpose of trying this eatery. Lobster? I'm there! :0) Located in the the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center food court. Just an FYI the food court seating is taped off. There is one entrance and you do need to show your vaccination card. They give you a sticker and your set. This eatery's original location is San Diego. Menu not large but all items contain LobsteToday I opted for the Lobster roll. Sticker shock was real! $31 for a roll with French fries. Service was friendly. It took about 10 minutes and they buzzed you when your order was ready. I must say the roll was filled with nice chunks of moist Lobster. Stuffed into a soft buttery roll. This roll is just bread and lobster. No fillings it make it appear larger. First bite was heavenly! Something about Lobster makes the meal decadent and rich. Full of flavor and so very simple. The French fries were also delicious. Nice and crunchy and not a soggy French fry in sight! Lol. I had my doubts it would be filling but it was. If you can get over that price shock, it truly is a decadent sandwich that's worth trying. read more

Butter Lobster roll: delicious! Lobster is the main event and the buttery seasonings with the sweet lobster was on point. The bread was perfectly light, crispy and buttery, just melt in your mouth good! It comes with fresh crispy seasoned fries, no complaints. Everything was nice and fresh. When I first opened my plate I thought the lobster roll looked small for a $30 plate, but it was pretty filling. And it is lobster, in Waikiki. I definitely like this place better than Jolene's and Fat cheeks when it comes to lobster rolls on island. The venue itself is pretty boring/not what I was expecting from watching their Instagram and other posts, and I'm not sure if it's in the best location. I hope they get good business here. New to Royal Hawaiian shopping center food court as of October 29th. Tucked away in a corner and a little hidden by some boarded up areas depending on where you're walking from. Prices are high and the menu is a little small (maybe for now) Service was ok - she didn't come out until a few minutes of me standing out front. I ordered but their pos doesn't take Royal Hawaiian gift cards and they didn't have validation for parking either. Sales tax was 7.75% which belongs to the state of California. I hope they correct this. The food came out fast. It's small for $30. While it's good (sorta) the lobster was a little rubbery. I don't completely think it's worth it. I had to go down to guest services for parking validation as they offer 3 hours kamaaina with a minimum purchase of 10$. My experience there was also quite weird. The lady in there didn't even notice I was in front of her for a good few minutes as her eyes was peeled onto her iPad. She then gave me a little hard time as I didn't have a printed receipt (only by text) and she said the lobster place wasn't even open yet. Anyway. I eventually got my validation. I only really needed an hours worth. I wasn't there very long. There's another spot about a block away. That's better. read more

Saw that Wicked Maine Lobster opened and had to check it out!! Been waiting for them to open! Location: Building B 2nd floor at Pa'ina Lanai Food Court Price: Lobster roll was $30 and Clam Chowder was $9 $2 for the bread bowl but they currently don't have bread bowls because it was made incorrectly. The flavor of the lobster was excellent, the bun was well toasted and came with a fresh lemon slice. The bread was super good but was very delicate and falling apart as we ate the roll. I think the worker forgot to give us butter, they asked us if we wanted butter on the side but didn't see anything in the plate. They also couldn't give a paper receipt due to the paper machine not working. When we looked back at the online receipt we were charged 7.75% for tax, not sure why and we didn't go back to ask if it was a credit card fee or purely for tax (HI tax is 4.712%) But I'm sure this is the soft opening to get through the bugs. The fries were well seasoned (Cajun) but wished they were a little crispier! For the size of the roll it seems pricey $30, but Royal lobster located down the road in Waikiki is $30 so it could just be Waikiki prices, and it definitely wasn't the best lobster roll that we had. The New England Clam Chowder was excellent!!!! Loved it and definitely go back just for that! It definitely does not taste like fast food. Royal Hawaiian has Kama'aina specials for parking so you just have to spend $10 and show your receipt and Hawaii state ID for 3 hours free parking at the Helumoa Hale Guest Services on the first floor near the stage and garden area. I had a couple hours to kill at the RHC last week before meeting up with family for dinner so I hung out with a friend and drooled over her lobster roll from Wicked Maine Lobster. I couldn't wait to come back tonight and get my own order, but I left underwhelmed. The service was okay, there was more than enough nicely spaced out seating nearby (for those that show a vaccination card), and I loved the old bay seasoning French fries. However, I had issues with the lobster roll itself. The first bite was heavenly. The bun was nicely toasted, the lobster was delicious and there was the perfect amount of butter. The next bite, I had problems swallowing... the lobster just tasted old. And on and on it went. Another delicious bite followed by a subpar mouthful with lobster that just didn't taste very good. I was so disappointed. I probably would have given this place 3 stars if it was cheaper, but for $30 that lobster better be completely edible. Also, I realize this is nitpicking, but after spending most of my adult life in New England, I do have to call out the mislabeling on their menu. A Maine lobster roll is served cold and often includes mayonnaise. A Connecticut lobster roll is served warm with butter. At Wicked Maine Lobster they serve two lobster rolls, a "California" version that comes with Avocado and a "Maine" version... which is really a Connecticut lobster roll (aka a warm lobster roll with butter). I realize this is probably something that bothers very few people, but this really annoyed me. Why not just call it a lobster roll or "an original lobster roll"... why call it something it isn't. read more

Tried this place out. Lobster sliders are small for the price(2 for about $15 &1 for $7.99). The bottom bun was soggy, I think they put too much slaw. Lobster meat was fine, but could have had a little bit more. The mac and cheese(~$8-9) was salty. Putting crackers on top didn't do anything to it. I think using box mac and cheese and making it fancy yourself would be better, had to dump the last few bites. Not going back. read more

Wanted to see if you could get a above average lobster roll in a food court. Answer is no, at least not from this place. While lobster itself is expensive, the portions to price is disproportionate. Each roll is about two inch squares with majority of the filling being the slaw. The slaw didn't have much flavor, and although it was sauced well, still tasted bland. The buns were nicely buttered and toasted, but that's about it. Lobster was cooked properly, just had about small piece per bun. The mac and cheese was not good. Tasted out of a box, like a generic brand with little flavor except for salt. It was topped with crackers for texture, but that can't save this dish. Unfortunately, Lesson learned. So my sister heard about this place and wanted to try it without looking at the reviews. Should've read the reviews... We got 3 of the butter lobster rolls with 2 clam chowders for a total of a little over $100. They gave it to us in a bag with a total of 3 paper lunch take out boxes...okay, the number seems off, so we took a look at it before leaving the food court. Shock is an understatement. They placed a chowder in each of the 2 boxes leaving one box for the lobster roll. Each of the roll is literally about 2 inches high and about 5 inches long. Looked like it's from a piece of bread, but no, it's a piece of 2 x 5 x 1.5 inch bread that they halved and stuffed with lobster. Each for a whopping $25, making the one box of 3 tiny lobster rolls a total of $75 pretax. WHAT?!? OMG!! Epic!! I totally understand that prices for everything is going up, but....really? For my sister and I, we supplemented with a homemade salad. For my husband, I had to get a Mahaloha Burger and fries to be enough...he could've consumed this roll in 3 big bites. So, in conclusion, there are bigger, better tasting lobster rolls for the same price. Guess they need help in paying for the (probably) higher rent.
