Great dinner at Wickies Lighthouse last night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very full with tourists visiting for spring break, but they handled the crowd well and the kitchen prompt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fried green tomatoes appetizer was the best I ever had! Great combination of crumbled goat cheese and a sweet corn sauce with arugula blended in to create a bittersweet profile. Shrimp and grits did not disappoint with perfectly grilled, full sized shrimp, horseradish grits and asparagus. Great combination and all of the food was fresh and hot. Service was warm and friendly and healthy pours from the bar. We will be back! read more

The GOOD is the quality of food is excellent! The BAD is you're lucky, very lucky IF you can get in! We live here on the Island and cannot find a reservation. They take their phone off the hook so you need to send an email to REQUEST a reservation. You win the lottery if they respond. I'm very happy for their business and that it's booming. I just have no idea when we'll ever get the opportunity to eat there again. read more

I wanted to love the dining experience here, because we loved their Island Cow restaurant, but it really fell flat. They've done a great job redecorating and brightening the space since they took over the new location. The menu is pretty small, which normally is not a bad thing, but there really is not a lot on the menu that screams, "Eat me!" We all thought our meals were fine, but nothing to write home about and nothing to make us excited to come back for. Also, we made reservations for the five of us and the earliest we could get was 745. Not a big deal. We did call back the day of and ask if they had anything earlier, and they did not. We showed up around 7:30, and there were only five tables with guests at them, lots of empty tables. So of course they were able to see us right away. I get that they want to save some tables for walk-ins, but don't deter customers that plan ahead and want to come to your restaurant by saying you have no availability. By the time we got our food, we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. The best entrée was probably the dinner special, crab stuffed shrimp. So be sure to order that if you go. The boys in our family also really enjoyed the fresh raw oysters. I would not recommend the fish tacos. It was chopped up fish that had a fishy taste. If it tastes fishy, it's probably past its prime, and when you chop up the fish, it makes it look like you're hiding something. Maybe we'll try it again for lunch. read more

Delicious shrimp and grits. Excellent crab cake Benedict. Brunch dishes were all served with some of the most perfectly ripened watermelon and cantaloupe I've ever had. The best part was how exceptional their service was. Catered preparations to our request and appeared happy to go out of their way to make sure we were happy. In the area for 5 days and it was so good I wonder if I'll be willing to try other places or if I'll be going here every day. Ate here three times on our most recent trip, a dinner, a lunch/brunch & a breakfast. Each time was excellent. All of the servers are lovely. At today's lunch, it was crazy busy & I think everyone arrived at once. I'm glad we had a reservation because it was full when we arrived, a Saturday afternoon at 1:00. Many of the dinner items are similar to Mad Hatter Dishes, but there are new dishes as well. We think that the salads are excellent and the fillet as a topping is perfectly done. Wickies Lighthouse for breakfast was delicious. It was just after opening (8am) and quiet. We've driven by a couple of evenings and the place was bustling. We sat inside. Service was leisurely. Food was delicious. We enjoyed creme brûlée french toast and blueberry pancakes. Would appreciate the espresso crème being a little stronger espresso flavored. Another great touch would be to brûlée the top maybe with maple sugar. Just sayin'. I will add that the booth was slightly uncomfortable for a plus size person. The tables are overly wide and not adjustable. read more

Wickies Lighthouse Restaurant has been voted best new restaurant on Sanibel Island. It's certainly popular. Our reservation was at 7:15 but we were not seated until 7:40. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoors, the restaurant is a relatively small and boisterous venue. It was standing room only during our wait in the bar area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We really didn't mind, the bartender is excellent and we enjoyed "Perfect Margaritas" while bantering with some of the characters hanging out there. Once we got to our table we were waited on promptly and our orders came in timely fashion. The cold water raw oysters from Virginia were excellent, and paired well with Labelle Brewing Beekeeper ale. Unfortunately, the conch fritters, while tasty, were not completely cooked all the way through. My shrimp with crab stuffing over risotto was delicious. It was a very generous serving and the leftovers were enjoyed again the next day. My wife complained that the black grouper in her tacos was bland and not seasoned. The chef needs to bump that up a bit. After I added salt, pepper, and Tabasco, I thought they tasted fine. We were too full for desert. The bill was reasonable, less than comparable meals at other establishments on the island. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. We plan to go back for brunch and hope to see some of our new found friends, again. read more

We were on Sanibel for just one night, February 25. We saw the good reviews so decided to go. When we arrived we found out that a reservation was needed, even at the bar. So we each got one drink and stood by the bar. Heidi was very accommodating. Someone had a reservation for the bar but never showed so we ended up with a seat. We ordered the Southern Pork Chop and the Stuffed Lobster Tails. The food was awesome and so was Heidi. We would definitely go back if we ever make it to Sanibel again. read more

For appetizer we got the crab cakes in a mango sauce. They were amazing!!! We actually wasn't very hungry my wife got the BLT salad and it was very good. I got the fish tacos and had them give me the mango sauce on the side because it was so good with crab cakes and I added it to the fish tacos. They were very good. For dessert we got the chocolate fudge cake and it was good. Our waitress was amazing also. Good breakfast! My wife had blueberry pancakes that were great and I had a crab cake benny. The sauce tasted good, the eggs were cooked just right but I could barely find much crab cake! The waitress was not good at all ordered glass of wine she hardly put any wine in the glass so then I told her and she gave me more wine but charged us for 2 glasses then had the nerve to charge us for ice my husband ordered scotch on the rocks charged us a $3 extra for ice that's crazy never heard of this the bill was $200 thought that was crazy will never go back there! read more

Wife and I went to Wickies Lighthouse Restaurant Thursday for lunch and it was great. We had gone sunrise shelling and hit a few shops on the way out, but when we drove by here, a lovely lady was sitting at the outdoor bar top with a Bloody Mary and we pulled right in! Service took a minute, but I believe this was a soft opening. We got there at the right time and only a few customers were there, but lots of foot traffic and people coming in from the adjacent shops. The Bloody Mary was fantastic! Could use a little kick, maybe some horseradish, but was garnished with candied bacon, shrimp, and the best tiny pickles I've ever had. My wife got the The Florida Salad and added grilled chicken. It was beautiful and looked like something I would serve. Absolutely perfect! I got the Philly Cheesesteak and fries. It was delicious. Fries were perfect. Lots of steak, onions, peppers, and cheese. The grilled roll added texture and flavor. Great, all the way around! We could barely finish our plates, so the portions are right for the price. Went to dinner with three friends. We ordered oysters on the half shell for appetizers. They were very good I ordered the Braised Short Ribs. The meal came to me COLD!! I had to send it back I only got an apology from the waitress!! For the prices at this restaurant I would expect the chief at least to come out to talk and apologize or comp the meal. That did NOT happen. The other meals were just ok. If fact they were almost done their meals before I received a hot meal.
