I found a cute suede futon sofa/sleeper in dark gray at The Mattress Center in San Marcos, Ca. A helpful young lady by the name of Angela helped me. She answered all my questions, even allowed me to take pictures of the item. I asked Angela what other colors did it come in. She said light gray and dark gray only. The dark gray was the only one on display. It's the one I took photos of, and it's the one I liked. I checked about 6 other places to compare prices and see if I found anything I liked better. I didn't. Furthermore, I went back and purchased the futon from the Mattress Center in dark gray 11/9/21. It was delivered on 11/10/21. It came in 3 pieces: the two arm rests & the center. While the delivery men were still in my home, I noticed the arm rests were both light gray and the center was dark gray. I immediately called Angela and advised her of the problem. She assured me when the delivery men got back to the store after making their other deliveries (I was the 1st delivery of the day) she would have them check the boxes and pull the dark arm rests and return with them, and she would call me back. She stated they must have taken the box of light gray arm rests in error. I even followed up and emailed her with a video of what was delivered. She never called me back, responded to the email, or had the correct arm rests delivered. On 11/11/21 I called the store at 10:30 am and asked to speak to Angela. I spoke to someone named Juan, he said Angela wasn't there. I explained the situation, and he said he was unaware of it and to call back in the afternoon to speak to the owner/ manager Neil. I called back at 2pm spoke to Juan again, he said Neil still wasn't there but would be there at 4pm and to call back. Furthermore, I called at 430pm and spoke to Juan a 3rd time, and he said Neil wasn't coming in today due to a family emergency. He would be in on Fri 11/12/21. At this point, I know when I'm being given the run around. As of today 11/12/21 no one from The Mattress Center has reached out to me. And I have a two toned futon that I didn't order/purchase. I only accepted the delivery because I was assured the problem would be rectified. And I had no reason to believe it wouldn't be. This is bad customer service at it's finest.

Was greeted by Neal who provided outstanding customer service and answered all my questions without the high pressure sales that you get from other places. My overall experience from purchase to delivery and setup was smooth stress free. Definitely if your in the market for furniture check this place out, you won't be disappointed. So to sum it all up. To make a long story shorter, delivery was supposed to be on a Sunday, we got the mattress Tuesday and both had to take another day off of work due to lack of communication. Once all was set up I asked if they could mount the headboard brackets that were paid for only to be told they could not be mounted despite making it clear we intended on purchasing a headboard upfront. There are so many options (especially in this area) I would go elsewhere. At every step I faced a severe lack of communication and lack of care provided by the team in store. Is the mattress comfortable? Yes, but I'm stuck with something that is not what I wanted which is really disappointing. It's clear they care about their commission and once you walk out the door it's your problem. This may not be a big purchase for some but it was a big step for my household. There were too many missteps for one review, but all in all, shop elsewhere if you are looking for great product and service.

We had a Heirloom queen from Jerome's that we absolutely loved that costed an ungodly amount of money six years ago. They're even more costly now, especially the California King. And you better not hate it, because Jerome's doesn't accept returns. We fell in love with Jerome's Bordeaux California King, but the mattress alone costs nearly $5,000.00. We started watching YouTube videos on different mattresses. We enjoyed watching Ken, Gabriel, and Pablo's videos from, "Mattress Makers," San Diego based furniture stores. Was interesting watching them open up mattresses they removed from customer's homes when delivering their new mattresses. We were really sold on their entire manufacturing process. The natural latex foams, and spring designs, and the fact they make them as soon as you order them. With a two week, give or take, delivery date. They can also customize your new bed and install different types of latex foams to make one side firmer and the other side softer. In addition to, "Mattress Makers," many good reviews all over the internet, we decided to give them a shot. We arrived at the San Marcos location just before closing time. Being mindful of whoever was working was probably wanting to lock the doors and go home to their families. I was just planning on getting some quick information, and brochures, etc. We were greeted by a very familiar face. Ken Johnson happens to belong to the same ancient and charitable men's fraternity that I do. As matter of fact, he's a Pillar and well liked and respected member of our brotherhood. Yes, we are Freemasons. Even though he was about to close up shop, my girlfriend and I were heartily and genuinely welcomed in, he loved the doors and spent an hour with us figuring out what our needs and sleeping habits were. He zeroed in on two types of medium firm beds for side sleepers like us. We were ready to purchase, mostly due to, "Mattress Makers," were half the price of our favorite Jerome's Bordeaux mattress, and Mattress Makers guaranteed we'd love it or we could return it for a $289.00 return fee, which Jerome's didn't offer. After a couple of weeks we decided the mattress wasn't for us and we became willing to pay the return fee, and purchase the more expensive one we were already familiar with. Don't get me wrong. Check them out yourself. Mattress Makers have quality offerings and many satisfied customers. We decided to keep, and pay, for the free pillows and sheets we got with the mattress we returned. Quality all around. And the service we received, was on par, from the very beginning to the end when we had to make the uncomfortable choice of asking to return a product to a good friend we purchased it from. No matter where you live in San Diego, Orange, Riverside or even LA County, go in and see Ken Johnson at the San Marcos, "Mattress Makers," showroom. Whether you're buying or returning he'll make you feel good and treat you right. Arlene and I are older, and have hip and shoulder pain exasperated if on the wrong mattress for us. The delivery people treat you like garbage and show up hours outside of their time window. All of this is a-okay with Mattress Firm. You will request different delivery people, but you will get the same ones over and over again. They will also drag your mattress unwrapped directly across the floor. My sales person was nothing to write home about. She complained the entire time about how she was tired, how it was past closing time when we were filling out the paperwork and kept making mistakes. I almost got up and left. I should have. I purchased a mattress at the Oceanside location previously and never had an issue. The regional manager gave me a credit that I literally had to argue for. It did not make up for my time that was wasted or the disrespect from the delivery people.
