I bought my bed here a few years ago and it's the worst investment I've ever made. My bed is always going flat. The tubes get gross after a while, and the mattress is just not comfortable at all. I feel like the mechanics on mine are starting to go. I wake up in the middle of the night to a flat bed! Think of it as a really expensive blowup mattress. You know those cheap ones you get for camping. I have slept on really good mattress from box that are about 75% cheaper. I don't recommend this bed. Save yourself some money read more

Trash. Buying the warranty is a waste of time when you have to pay $180 service charge, then another $180 for someone to come out for installation. Absolutely a joke. Technician was at my house for all of 15 minutes to tell me he needed to order another hose that had kinked from installation. Called the Escondido store and they were absolutely no help. The bed is good just all the other BS that you have to deal with. I will never buy another 1 and definitely would never recommend this to anyone else. This is a continued review of my experience and what you can expect when you need service. I requested a service on my mattress on 10/20/2024. The soonest they could send someone out was today 11/7/24. In the meantime, we slept on the couch....we are both over 65. They arrived today and the guys were very courteous and within minutes diagnosed what I had been telling the customer support person on the phone was wrong. They told me we needed to replace the inflatable mattresses as they were leaking. Now, we wait again while one is ordered and another appointment needs to be made to set this up. This is my second Sleep number bed, and all was well until this weekend when my side of the bed deflated. I can then it pumped back up, but it will deflate again. I called and was sent to "customer service" where all they wanted me to do was troubleshoot my bed, I know what's wrong my side of the bed won't stay inflated. And if I wanted a real technician to come out it would be 140.00, now these beds are not cheap, I paid over 2000.00 for this bed, and they can send someone out to fix it for me. It's bad enough I have to scan and bag my own groceries now I have to diagnose my own bed, what's next do my own prostate exam? Bought a sleep number bed 10 years ago. five years ago the pump stopped working, it was under warrantee and was replaced in a timely manner. Four and a half months ago, same problem with the pump. I have had to pay $400 to get a new pump (payment immediately processed by Sleep Number) and have now been waiting for the new pump to arrive. Sleep number customer service (a misnomer) can't give me any information other than it is back ordered. Really, good thing it is in the guest bedroom or I would be sleeping on the floor. I strongly suggest you rethink spending a crazy amount of money on a sleep number bed, unless you don't mind spending hundreds more when the electronics and air pump fails in five years or less on these beds. I was an owner of a sleep number bed for twenty years, the same bed! At ten years our bed had some major issues and we notified the company and promptly received a complete set of replacement interior air mattresses and foam , no questions asked. The customer service was great! After 20 years we decided to of course buy a new bed with a few nicer options, of course in 20 years the price had tripled but come on, twenty years, why not suck it up and buy a new one? The new one was great until now five years in I wake up in a coffin like hole in the middle of the night and find the pump to our bed is broken! Luckily, I have a new twin sleep number bed in my spare room . There was no way to sleep in my bed and of course no one to call in the middle of the night for tech support. The next morning I wake to find my husband's side of the bed had done the same thing! My husband called the customer service line and spent three hours with a chat bot trying to fix the problem. He is 65 and a very tall guy and crawling around on the floor in a cramped space was not easy on him! After three hours of no answer they hung up on him. I decided to go down to the store where we bought it and talk to the warranty person or manager. Big mistake! I go in and tell them my problem and they tell me they can do nothing for me I need to call customer service and hand me a phone they had dialed the number for! Talking to customer service was another joke they told me I had to pay $160.00 for a repair person to evaluate and if I needed a new pump my prorated price was $260.00! I was so mad that I lost it and told a customer who had walked in, to do himself a favor and go somewhere else as this was now a serious rip off, not the quality or warranty it used to be. Yes I was angry! I was told to leave and I agreed because then I could talk to everyone before they entered the store! I was looking to purchase a new pillow for my significant other's birthday, since she was having frequent neck pains. Sleep Number's associate, Frank, walked me through their line of pillows and clearly explained the pros and cons to each. He worked with my price range and helped me pick out the very best contoured pillow for her. Needless to say it was an excellent gift, and she has been sleeping amazing ever since. I walked in here today (Jan 8, 2017) with my wife and daughter. We are 100% for sure going to be upgrading our bed and I made it very obvious to the person that "greeted" us that we were going to buy something and soon. After the person said "hello", she asked how we heard about Sleep Number. I, like almost every other San Diegan, has seen the commercials on TV and heard them on the Radio. What I don't actually know is how the system works and what else this whole situation entails. She told me that their routine is to do a bed analysis which takes 45 minutes to an hour. Since I had our daughter and a surprise birthday to be at, I deferred and asked her to kind of give me a brief overview of what the sleep number advantage was. She then proceeded to tell me that the beds start at 2k and go up to 10k. Emphasis on the 10k. I asked, "Okay thank you for the info. But what's special about them? I heard they're adjustable? Is this only due to the analysis or is it adjustable after we buy it?" She looked at me like I was wasting her time from doing nothing and she brushed me off with, "They're all adjustable. Here's a pamphlet. You can read about it here and come back when you're ready to do the (analysis)". I must say that the overall tone of her seemed to be GTFO you stupid cheap ass. You can't afford us anyways. Thanks (I forgot your name). You've helped me solidify my decision to buy another mattress at Costco or online. With a 2 year old in the store, there was nothing here that really could be damaged or could hurt her and it WAS well maintained. They actually had some areas for kids to play in. I recently purchased a bed from Sleep Number. When I first walked into the store I was greeted by John. He spent the time with me so I could understand what makes this bed so special. I tried the beds to find the one to suit me. I was not rushed through the process. He also explained the costs for the different model beds. I made a decision and selected the queen bed. John told me that the bed would be delivered on October 21. And, it was delivered on October 21. The two young men who delivered the bed were very courteous and carefully set up the bed and removed my old one, and demonstrated the features. I couldn't be more pleased with the bed-buying process from start to finish. read more

first let me start by saying that sleep number bed warrantee is a joke. after spending close to 10 k on a king size mattress. nothing but problems with it base and mattress. first had to have them out here because bed had bad air valve. which they took on themselves. 0.00 well it was within 1 month of buying. it took 4 reps to catch the issue. I gave up on it which is not their fault because the base isn't theirs???????????? I should also state I had professional installation. so back on subject, took 4 different guys come out which i had to fight for. they wanted to charge me service fee because their brand-new bed didn't work. I said I would return it they said sure but the base (where most of your issues are based) isn't returnable???????? so i got stuck with a mattress and bed I knew was going to be issues for 10k. now my foot warmer doesn't work bed don't rise and go dawn at all. i am with a 10k bed that is going to be 300 dollars to buy the piece (heater) and get it installed. as she put it on phone i can do it. I said no i can't I am handicapped i have 8 herniated discs which is why i needed the bed in the first place. bottom line if this makes it to actual post. 2 things to take away 1 only the actual mattress is theirs the base is Legg and prat and neither back up their product. worst customer service ever. i can not even closely recomend this product stay away. read more

We came here about a week ago and Steve assisted us. He was kind, helpful, patient and not pushy one bit from the moment we came in. He was very honest about the prices, warranty, and why he recommend one thing over the other. Unfortunately, when the sleep number was adjusted to the lowest setting, I still didn't feel much of a difference when it came to pressure relief. He did mention that there is a 45 minute test, so to speak, you go through to find your best number. However, with how much the mattresses cost-namely the most comfortable i7-I need something to blow me away pretty quickly. So we'll be going with something else. The only reason I'm knocking them down a star is because I wasn't too impressed with the comfort of the mattress. read more

We purchased an i-10 with most of the bells and whistles. Upon delivery, we were told they couldn't get the base upstairs. I told them we got many queen and king size mattresses up stairs and even told them how we did it. The delivery men were unable to get the base upstairs. They just gave up! They seemed more concerned with nicking a wall or the stairwell. Honestly, it was a poor showing for the delevery folks. Probably won't buy from them again. read more

Worst customer service ever! I've been treated better in PRISON! (not really, luckily I've never been incarcirated but it sounded appropriate). We were lucky enough to have a gift certificate for a 2800 mattress. As soon as we walked into the place and mentioned are gift certificate, we were treated like 2nd class citizen. We sat there with our baby for 25 minutes after discussing the cert while the salesperson helped other customers coming in and out of the store. It was clear that he wasn't getting a commission. When I complained, he told me "if you want to do this you will have to be patient". The overall experience was awful and after we left we learned that he used bait and switch tactics on us as well. FIRST, let me tell all. The Bed frames are NOT refundable . We spent over $7000.00 on our sleep number and DO NOT like it. We tried to return it within our trial period, just to find out we are stuck with the frame that cost over $2000.00. We were in the store for an hour and 30 minutes, and never once were we told about the "No refund" policy on bed frames, even after being in the store that long and being the only customers in the store. We finally got to the paperwork and they went through everything pretty fast and still never said anything about the frame. what they did say was that we have 100 days to try the product and can return the product after 30 days for a Full refund, and still, they never said anything about the frame. Its not a full refund if im stuck with a bed frame that's costing me over $2000.00. I wished I had read some of these reviews and had known these things about this store and company before I bought this $7000.00 piece of crap. P.S. they tell you these beds are great for side sleepers like me .THEY ARE NOT. Go buy a Coleman air mattress if you want a better night sleep. read more

Melanie at Sleep Number was knowledgeable and professional from the day we walked in. She helped us try every bed and deliberate over every detail. We had a few visits and calls before deciding to buy. She was always patient and helpful. I am a physical therapist and I had been dealing with back pain for about 6 months. I knew our bed was too soft but my husband hates hard surfaces, so I had been sleeping happily on the floor for 4 months! That said, we knew we didn't want to continue this way and we were destined for a Sleep Number. I didn't ACTUALLY think my back would feel better or that it would be firm enough for me. I also have the bad habit of sleeping on my stomach (not great for your spine!) but told Melanie there was no way I could ever change this habit. Well, I was wrong! After about a month of sleeping on the bed I found that I was waking up on my side and even back...Melanie had told us that this could happen when you are more comfortable during sleep but I had my doubts. THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate being able to lift my toddler up without pain and sleep in other positions than on my stomach. Very impressed! read more

We own a king size bed that we purchased a number of years ago, and we were very happy with it, so decided to purchase a queen bed for our guest room. We've had a lot of issues with it, including it being able to inflate / maintain a regular inflation. Also had the same customer service problems that another person had wrt timeliness of delivery and having to get replacement parts. Most recently, we purchased one of their pillows, and that has been a disaster, not so much because of the pillow and its ability to give support (very much like that portion), but because the pillow itself will not dissipate heat from my head. This wasn't apparent at the beginning when the weather was cooler, but once we got into the warmer (and hot) days, the pillow because unusable. I attempted to return it, but they won't consider it, even the main customer service number. Caveat emptor - you really need to know what you are getting into before spending this amount of money - I just wasted nearly $300 on an unusable pillow. read more

I'm writing this review only to give perspective customers of a sleep # bed a few hidden costs and the in's and out's of purchasing a bed from this company. I am a former sleep # owner and want to give you an insight as to what you will not be told about the bed, some of it's key aspects, and what to expect when purchasing and/or returning a bed set from this company. Having tried numerous styles and manufacturers of steel spring beds and still being in pain and discomfort from them after decades with no relief, I decided to try/buy a sleep # bed set. I purchased a set from the store inside the Westfield Mall Plaza in Escondido. The staff were totally friendly, helpful, and patient. The sales reps at this location are not high pressure, but keep in mind that no matter what style of sleep # bed, or how fancy it may be, you're still buying an air mattress. Air mattresses are stiff, period. The lowest price set has only about 1 inch of padding on top of the plastic air bags underneath, and believe me you can totally feel them. The more expensive beds have gradually increasing amounts of padding materials on top. Please note as the padding increases in thickness, the price increases dramatically! Additionally each showroom will have only certain models for sale and display. The models each showroom will sell is determined by the manufacturer and can't be changed. If you find a set that meets your needs, but it's not sold at a particular location, you will have to order the set online, and have it shipped out to your home, or go to the showroom where that set is sold. Naturally shipping costs increase proportionally with the distance of delivery. When you initially go into a store to try a set, they may have you lay down on a test bed equipped with a pressure sensor and a computer display of the results. Note this bed is NOT a steel spring mattress. It is a sleep # bed (the least expensive, least padded model) set to #100, the firmest setting. You will be given 2 test results a before & after setting. This is to emulate where pressure points will be if you were to sleep on a perfectly flat surface. Naturally the pressure points will be in three areas: the head, shoulders, and lower back or hips. Now this is where the decision process gets tricky. The sales rep will deflate the bed until it conforms more ergonomically to your own body's weight, curvature and thus comfort level. Obviously it will feel like it's conforming to your shape. Note that ALL models offered by this company will first (and foremost) deflate in the lower back/hip region, slowly followed by the shoulder area. These air bags to NOT deflate uniformly. The more expensive the bed, the less one needs to deflate the mattress. Also all queen and king sized beds will have a hard center divider in every bed that does not move, nor deflate. It's also important to keep in mind that larger, heavier, people, and those who have back injuries/problems, may have more comfort issues with the lower priced models as they may require a firmer or more customized support. Also for side sleepers, (I'm one of them), Sleep # beds may not be for you as they are designed primarily for back sleepers only! Finally we come to the costs. This company's line of mattresses, supports (they are not box springs), bedding, pillows, and framing are exceedingly expensive. Note if you buy a Sleep # bed frame, it does NOT come with legs! They are sold separately with a staring price of $125 or more. The warranty does NOT cover products that are mixed and matched (i.e. buying a sleep# mattress and not buying the support/frame) and does not cover using your own mattress protector. Their protectors (sheets basically) run an average of $200 or more. Originally shipping and return shipping costs are calculated separately and are based on distance and weight. There is a charge for assembly and for "disassembly". Returns are difficult as you MUST wait exactly 30 days before you can get a return authorization. Once authorized the company will give you two options. Disassemble the set yourself, buy shipping crates, and arrange for UPS to pick it up, or you can have the company come to your home to remove the set. All shipping costs are in the hundreds of $ each time and does not include bedding! Bedding is not returnable (i.e. sheets, pillow covers, mattress protectors). Sleep # bed sets are on average cost thousands of dollars. So if you are seriously considering buying one, take at least 1 month to completely consider everything. Lay on the mattress for at least 30 minutes or longer (don't be shy), lay side to side with your partner, and if you adjust the firmness, allow another 10 to 15 minutes for your body to re-adjust. Do this several times on separate days. Choose wisely! When you are going to spend thousands of dollars to sleep on an airbag, take your time! Good luck! read more

This place is a joke! We paid $8K for this bed and were told we would get a call in 5 days and the bed no more than 2 weeks. One and a half weeks goes by and we have to call them. They tell us we had to call the main store to tell them we were ready to receive it (???) and that it would surely take 4 weeks or more! So we call the sleep number store and she claims that they were given bad information...really?!? So again we call the sleep number main line and he again apologizes and said he would work on getting this solved and expedited. He said he would call back in a day. The next day, no call! OH now our truck supposedly broke down....4 weeks and 2 days. The whole experience has been a complete mess, filled with lies, and misleading information. We don't even want the bed! Upped my review, would have given 4 stars but the only help from select comfort was via customer service in MN. The local store was not very helpful in resolving the delivery issue. I actually had to call the delivery tech myself after working out a solution with the corp office. Again it's great bed but on the retail side of the business not so great. read more
