So I started reviewing my options and came across the name Azar builders. I was extremely impressed with his reviews so I made an appointment with Pete to come out to discuss the situation. Well the five star reviews were right on the money. Not only was Pete extremely knowledgeable, he put my mind at ease that everything was going to be okay. He should be called the "hillside therapist". He came up with an affordable solution and did not try to upsell me during the process. He methodically went through the whole process with me and boy did I have a ton of questions for him. He assured me he would rectify the situation. He fit me into his busy schedule and I got to know his crew very well. I would go down the canyon on a daily basis and his crew worked like clock work. Pete would instruct them on what to do but it was like they already knew exactly what they were doing. They worked to together so well and completed the job in about a week. I could not be happier with the work that Pete and his crew did at our residence. I am a retired 35 year Law enforcement officer who is usually very skeptical of contractors and their practices but Pete is the cream of the crop. He is a no BS type of guy who does what he says and backs up his work. I would highly recommend him and his fine company and crew.

During the huge rains we had in Oceanside we developed a leak in our second floor bathroom in the area below a window. Various companies I called were not interested in trying to figure out the source of the problem and just blamed the windows. When I called Joseph however it was a different story. He is extremely detail oriented and took the time to investigate the potential causes. He determined it was from cracked stucco near the window, but not the window itself. Which made perfect sense with the location and behavior of the leak. He meticulously started opening up the stucco to see the extent of the damage. He found the paper under the stucco had deteriorated pretty severely on that wall due to the extreme sun exposure over the years. He continued to open it up until he was comfortable that he had exposed all the issues. After replacing all the damaged areas, stuccoing the entire wall and repainting, you couldn't even tell the whole side had been opened up. He even took the time to examine all the windows above the area of the leak for any damage, and thoroughly cleaned them and even resealed them. We also had Joseph remove a statue from an alcove and re stucco the area. And again, his work was impeccable. Paint matching was perfect. He took pictures of everything as he worked, he explained all of the things he was doing and why he was doing them. His pricing was very fair and communication was very good. On a personal note, he was a pleasure to work with. I appreciate his attention to detail, and his quality work. But he was also just a kind and friendly person to talk with. He would even offer to pick up food or supplies for us if we needed anything when he was on his way or getting supplies. I highly recommend Joseph in all regards.

Throughout our research process, TC was very helpful and readily available to answer all my questions about design ideas and building permits etc. When we decided to replace our upstairs door with a window instead of putting in a deck, TC was able to quickly come out to view our home in person and take measurements; he also sent an invoice shortly afterward. The entire process only took a few days once our new window was ordered. The main foreman Antonio was especially friendly and easy to work with. We were impressed at how closely the stucco repairs match our original stucco exterior and the interior areas look like they've always been there as they are so seamless. The crew even put in extra hours the first day of renovations to make sure everything was watertight before a big rainstorm hit. After meeting with Miguel, I gave him an idea of what I had in mind, and he took accurate measurements of my property. Miguel gave me estimates on the use of different materials: wood, aluminum, galvanized steel and vinyl. After giving Miguel a budget I could work with, he presented me the options of using natural premium redwood (stained and sealed) with powder coated galvanized steel posts. Miguel was very easy to work with, and I like how he offered his input to further enhance my vision of what I wanted. Miguel is very efficient, along with his coworker, and he takes great pride in providing a quality product. He always kept me in the loop regarding each work phase, and was quick to address any of my questions. Best Gates and Fencing does not rush their jobs. For my project, they work in phases, and it was great to see my fence project come to life, so to speak. In the end, I was extremely in awe of the transformation Best Gates and Fencing provided. What impressed me is that Dean and Robert took both and made them better, using their real knowledge of how concrete works. The control joints are placed right, they put in real drainage with actual drains and grading built throughout, and it looks clean and classy without being overdone. Flatwork around the entire house, driveway, front yard, backyard, both sides, fencing, gates. Did they get everything perfect on the first pass? Almost. What separates them is that when something was off, they owned it completely. No excuses, no pushback, just fixed. They paid attention to details that other contractors I quoted either missed entirely or only caught after I nudged them. Dean caught everything without me saying a word. Every day at the end of their shift they cleaned up and secured the site, even when it wasn't convenient. Robert ran a tight field operation and cared about every detail like his reputation depended on it. I have a young kid at home and that told me everything about who these guys are. I had my own engineer come out and review the work on-site. He looked around and said, unprompted, "You've got a great crew here." Engineers don't hand out compliments. That meant something. These guys come from commercial construction and brought that level of expertise to a residential job without going overkill. I actually spotted their truck at another client's property. Here's my honest take: if my mom needed this much work done and I couldn't be there to check in, I would still trust Dean to make sure she was taken care of. That's the highest thing I can say.

The job involved two parts: a 500sq ft deck overlooking our back yard and another 500sq ft for our wrap around porch. Together, it took Albert and Jose about 2 months to complete. They were a constant at our house! When they were finished, we felt we had lost family members! The backyard deck was a pretty typical deck build. They did an amazing job making sure all joists were properly sealed with that flashing tape they now use and supported with correct metal joist hangers. Our wrap around porch was a different story. The porch already had an existing epoxy flooring that couldn't be nailed to and in addition, had a slight slope for drainage. They were able to perfectly taper the framing runners and glued them down securely. The decking they laid down was perfectly tied together with the backyard deck and it basically now looks as if everything was built together at the same time. I highly recommend Blue Coast Patio and Deck! They're honest, hard working guys that are super dependable. The guys did an amazing job and were always very considerate about our needs and making sure they did the job right. Their carpentry skills are second to none. If you're looking for a deck build, look no further.

The good: Jesus was quick to respond to my Yelp request, and had good communication thru the website. Made an appointment at the first opportunity, and he showed up exactly on time. He was respectful toward me and my property. I went on the roof with him to learn as much as I could, and he was good at explaining what he was doing and why. He explained some things to me which made me feel I could do the rest of the patching myself. Not so good: He charged me his minimum fee of $350, stayed less than half an hour and used about $5 worth of brown caulking on a few spots he thought might be the source of the water intrusion. After he left, I used what product I had to patch many more spots that looked suspicious. A few days later, the roof was leaking just as much as before he and I patched it. I feel like I basically wasted $350. Not his fault: This virus scare is making it difficult for anyone to do much of anything, and this rain is keeping all of the roofers quite busy lately.
