I've rarely felt so faux important and so legitimately ordinary & unsung. An elite benchwarmer is closer to the truth. Told to sit out again & again by the Yelp algorithmic powers that be. Lorea? Waitlisted. Orange Hill? Waitlisted. Spaghettini? Waitlisted. Being an Elite All-Star helps a little, but is not being Elite already enough status? A definition: "often : superior in quality, rank, skill, etc. an elite performer, an elite athlete, an athlete with elite skills." I have been left out as an Elite All Star too. Perhaps I am the best of the benchwarmers. Could be I am not conventionally attractive enough, so other Yelpers do not want to like my reviews for halo effect type reasons. Could be I do not craaaaank out dozens of fluffy, clipped reviews for the sake of maintaining a perception. Could be my reviews just aint got that swing, baby. Who knows. Anyway, sometimes to cope with the rejection all face from to time, one must invent a new form of pain to distract from the brutal reality that awaits all of us. My choice form of suffering is The Twinkie flavored milkshake served at Wienerschnitzel. Unlike some events & occasions, & places meant only for the creme de la creame, Wienerschnitzel will always welcome me with open buns. I've never been told I cannot go or don't belong at a Wienerschnitzel. I chose the drive thru this time because I could not bear to seen by the staff. I feared they might sense I am one of the lesser Yelp Elites by sourpuss disposition. The drive thru lady was pretty chill on the intercom, & she took my milkshake order. The ambiance of the drive thru is Miami Vice sexy except that it does not look like a cool TV show scene or feel sexy. The staff took no time to make the dietarily heinous beverage. Shake in hand. I sipped to forget the agony of defeat. I closed my eyes, and I let the cold liquid chunks of Twinkie take the wheel. All those narcotic levels of sugar tainting my veins & arteries. A trash parade rolling through my circulatory roadways. I finished the shake in less than a mile of driving. Sometimes the only way to forget a terrible moment in the past is drive one's self through an even more frightening moment in the future. Thank you Wienerschnitzel for letting me roll by. I come here once in a while. Yesterday I came because I saw an ad for a pastrami burger. I got one and it's soooo good! Next time I'm getting the sandwich. So the other day I was telling my son about how I used to really enjoy the classic chili dogs from Wienerschnitzel. He seemed kinda surprised since he knows we never go to Wienerschnitzel and he wondered why I had never gotten him a chili dog to try - which was a very good point! The thing with the chili dogs is that they pretty much have to be eaten in the car - right after they have been purchased - when the chili is hot and the bun is still soft from being steamed or warmed in the microwave (or however they warm them up). Once they get cold, it's game over. They are not the same. Also, I had a bad experience with their fries, which I never got over. I felt like the fries tasted like corn dogs, so I never ordered their fries again, just figuring that the fries were fried in the same oil as the corn dogs. But in all fairness, I ordered a small fry to give them another try, and they did not taste like corn dogs. *So one extra star for having french fries that actually taste like fries! So here's more on our chili dog experience. It turned out that we went on Saturday, which the daily special was a beef chili dog - we figured we'd try that since we like beef hot dogs. Well it wasn't the same at all. Very disappointing - actually the hot dog didn't really taste like much. I told my hubby that they might have been sitting in the water too long and lost their flavor. Had the Chili Cheese Mac 'N Cheese... It was small for what the price is. The flavor was ok... The chili is the best part. It might be better if the Mac 'N Cheese was cheesier. I come to this wienerschnitzel often as I work close by. Today I picked up two regular hot dogs with ketchup and fries. I opened up my package and realized that there were black dots on their bun. Unfortunately I ate the first hot dog while driving and didn't notice it until the very end. Unsafe COVID Mask Wearing by cashier! Visited the drive-thru Tuesday, Nov 17, about 6:35pm. Was extremely disappointed with the cashier helping me for my order. The younger guy, keep pulling down his mask (all the way off his nose and mouth, turning it into a chin strap), as he pulled together my order and I believe talking with the cook working at the time. When grabbing my food and napkins for my order, his mask was off his face. As he came back to the window, he pulled the mask back up on his face, and opened the drive-thru window, thinking it was ok. It was not ok. My order, my food, and my napkins were exposed. Everything was exposed. The purpose of the mask is to protect their customers' food and items from any exposure. During my short visit, his mask was on and off multiple times as I sat waiting for my food, watching all of this. I'm also wondering if the cook even has a mask on, based on the mask behavior of the cashier. Also, there was no gloves used to protect customer's orders. Also, when asked for a receipt for my order, the cashier would not provide me with one. I did not eat my order because of the lack of mask wearing. I quickly threw it away. During COVID, this is not ok and I will not be visiting the restaurant any more. The cashier should be reprimanded and re-trained on proper mask wearing and proper health and safe precautions. The management should take this issue very seriously. If anyone else has experienced this, they should report the person(s) involved and the company and its management. The reason I am taking the time to review today is because of an interaction I had Friday night with an employee named "Freddy" (sorry if I misspelled it dude) This gentleman truly cares about what he's doing! He had a rather difficult order were the customer had special requests on literally every individual item, and he took the time and made sure everything was perfect before he sent it through the window into my hands. Not all fast food is the same! Just like not all Wienerschnitzel locations are the same! The location on Tustin Ave. is thee WORST! But today my eyes were opened up to this quaint Wienerschnitzel! It's mostly good for drive thru which is perfect for me since my mom is in a lovely boot that requires minimal moving -_- the cashier at the drive was so nice and humble! I've never met such a nice fast food employee! They usually just shove the bag at you and call it a day! NOT FAST FOOD! Service is awful here every time I've been. The staff flat-out ignore you until they're ready and I don't get how they can be so slow at serving mostly pre-prepared food. I usually walk to the window, this time however I went to the drive-through. I'll explain why. I like this location because I like the little outdoor seating area, especially in the evening. So I usually park and go to the window. The problem is with the staff ignoring you! The window is real low with an opaque panel above, so you can't actually see in without crouching. Every damn time I go there, I wait at the window for ages before anyone even acknowledges my presence. I crouch low and wave at staff passing but inevitably I'm ignored until I actually start yelling hello. Every damn time! Started timing it (yes I'm anal like that) and it usually takes 5 minutes. For a fast food place? Come on! So my last time at the window I was sufficiently pissed off that I vowed to take the drive through. Drove up, sat at the speaker and .... nothing. Seriously? I've been to drive-through's before where someone says hi and asks you to wait for a minute. No problem! Glad that you know I'm here! Three minutes later after a tentative "Hello?" or two, I tried a toot on the horn. Nothing. There's now 3 other cars behind me. So a minute later I drive up to the window. After yet another minute of waiting a girl shows up and apologizes. "Is the box working?" I ask? "No.... sorry about that, can I take your order?" So she takes my order, closes the window and promptly takes the order of the next car at the speaker box. Even if she was busy, she's wearing a headset! Just say hi, I'll be with you in a minute! Ordered 25 dollars worth of food for myself and pregnant wife today. Drove all the home and sat down to eat only to be missing my wife's lunch her two corn dogs. So I called the store to see what happened. The gentlemen working their said the girl bagging the orders was 100 percent positive she had put the corn dogs in the bag. Well their not.
