Great staff with a large selection of all things birding. So far all the bird food I have got here have caused much excitement for the birds resulting in some wonderful backyard birding. Their prices are comparable or maybe slightly higher that some online retailers... but you are supporting the local economy and you get to see and touch items before you buy. When we relocated from another state, we were happy to see a Wild Birds Unlimited here. Like the others, this store has a large selection of seed, suet, nut butters, etc. They also stock parts for feeders and pole/feeder systems. Bird-themed shirts and gifts are plentiful too. The staff is helpful and friendly. If you're going to feed birds regularly, joining the Daily Savings Club will more than pay for the membership. Happy birding! read more

My latest visit here during Covid-19 time. Well the birds have been to my feeders, huge success! My new issue was the quail and mourning doves mostly eating the seed with no time allowed for smaller birds. I called the store, got great advice on what feeder road buy, purchased it on line and now have the bird seed within holders. So happy to see gila woodpecker and others eating! Picking up my purchase the next day was easy too. Masked employee put the bags in the trunk area of car....thank you as we kept safe! My other review from months ago is here too: I cannot believe I bought bird feeders! Actually I was here to buy a gift and the saleswoman knew her info about birds, how to sell, maintain humor and before I knew it I was the proud owner of bird seed and holders! Recommended: Expert staff, and top-quality supplies and feeders. We have room with large windows facing a small courtyard that seemed perfect for a couple of bird feeders, and wanted to attract hummingbirds and small birds. In Tucson, hummingbird supplies are available in most hardware and independent pet supply shops. So why shop here? In a word, bird expertise and top-quality bird food and supplies. I had really mixed results, not attracting the birds we wanted to see, and other small challenges, and the advice was really helpful. I had challenges such as: I was baffled when my humming bird feeders would empty out in a single night. "Nectar bats" were the culprit, according to store staff. They knock the hummingbird feeders such that that spill the nectar, and catch the nectar in mid-flight. "But they migrate, and they'll be gone in a month. You can bring the feeder in at night." Okay. That was indeed the culprit. Then we wanted to attract smaller birds. "Try the finch feeder -- only finches can feed on it, and it uses a special seed that only finches eat." Okay. Tried it, and of course, it worked. The larger birds, especially the white pigeons, were pretty aggressive. "Try this feeder -- it's such that the larger birds can't perch and feed." Okay. Tried that, and it worked as advertised (large birds eat the seed that falls to the ground -- win-win for all concerned). The bottom line: We follow staff advice, and now, on most days, the courtyard looks like an aviary. read more

The staff are truly passionate about birds, and it shines through everything they do. They are incredibly helpful and willing to share their considerable knowledge, laughter and love of all things birds! As a new backyard birdwatcher, I've learned so much from everyone here. I had the best experience at this store! The customer service is unlike anything I have ever experienced. For one, the staff is incredibly knowledge. For two, they walked me through the store and answered the one million questions I was firing like a rapid fire M2 machine gun. They helped me selected solar powered lanterns, solar powered butterflies, and even solar powered self watering devices. They built and rebuilt my Sheppard's hook as I changed my mind quicker than Kim K did with Chris Humphries. I didn't even know so many options existed. I got a great hummingbird feeder complete with an ant moat, that I'm using as my Sheppard's hook topper. They even sell patio bases for the hooks, if you aren't equipped with a yard. And to boot they gave me a recipe to make my own nectar. They have a very cool selection of wind chimes and I was drawn to the ones with ceramic Gamble quails. Everything here is cool. Want to attract the Gamble quails? Get a quail block. Want butterflies? Get a butterfly feeder. Cardinals? Get a peanut wreath. Bat house? Check. Owl house? Checkedy-check-check. Are you looking for children's books on the southwest and it's inhabitants? They have a great selection. I WANT IT ALL AND I WANT IT NOW. Literally wrap this store up and put a bow on it. Then as I'm checking out they gave me a discount as they have a coupon floating out there. I almost signed up for the rewards program. I hope I don't regret it. However, I did get a coupon in the mail already for $5 off. And if that's not enough, they gave us a reusable tote bag and a bag of javelina poop, which was some divine chocolate covered English toffee. read more

I live in a condo near Ventana Canyon and a few weeks ago, my neighbor, who had been feeding the birds in our shared yard, moved away. All of the birds disappeared, leaving the yard feeling extremely barren and lonesome. Having no idea what to feed them or which feeders were the best for the birds in Tucson, I was delighted to discover this store. The woman who helped me showed me several options for attracting a variety of birds, without overwhelming me or trying to sell me things I didn't need. She suggested a simple set-up that requires very little maintenance on my part. Three days later, the birds are back--and then some. There are species I don't think I've ever seen before. I'm back to having my morning coffee looking out into a veritable bird sanctuary! I'm grateful this store is in business, and I will definitely be back. read more
