When we first rescued Squirty, the shelter told us he came from an abusive home and therefore was very timid and afraid of essentially everything. We knew we would have a lot to work on, but his sweetness and gentle disposition won us over. In the 2.5 years that we had him, he made a lot of progress on becoming more trusting and less fearful in our home. However, getting him outdoors was still a battle. Every little outdoor noise scared him and he would use all his strength pulling on the leash to find a hiding spot or get back inside the house. Every walk attempt was a dreaded struggle and I'll admit we began to put in less work in making him go outside to walk. To make things worse, our already big boy (pitbull) started gaining more weight from the lack of exercise and our lax food/treat giving. We saw that he was starting to become more lazy and that this was leading to an unhealthy and unfulfilling life for squirty, and a change needed to be made! We took the leap to seek out professional help, and thank god we found just what we were looking for in Kristin and Manny! Right from the start they very responsive and thorough in answering our questions and walking us through the different types of programs they had. We ended up going with the Modified Board & Train 6 week program, and we are so happy we chose this one over the less intensive options! This gave Squirty 3 whole days of weekly training and bonding time with Kristin and Manny. The pickup and drop off service was so convenient and Squirty was noticeably more eager to go to school and see his trainers each week. The amount of patience, compassion, and dedication that Kristin and Manny gave Squirty was clear from the very first week of training. Our big boy was a tough case and had so much fear to work through, but they took their time with him and always came up with solutions that kept him progressing and reaching new milestones. They not only educated and built Squirty's confidence, but ours as well! We learned so much from them on our end of week sessions and we felt so supported on our training journey the whole way through. By the end of the 6 week program, Squirty had lost 10lbs, responded to a whole list of commands, and was now going on mile+ walks! He's now so much more energetic and willing to explore the outdoors. My family and I are forever grateful to Kristin and Manny for helping us implement this change and for creating a new hopeful and healthy future for Squirty! I have (2) 3yo Golden's and an 8 month old Golden who has the MOST energy of any dog on the planet and they surpassed my expectations of caring for them. I left detailed instructions for feeding amount, times, toy and treat preferences and everything was followed to a tee. Daily PUPDATES were given via text and video and they cleaned the dog run twice a day along with watering all inside and outside plants. They also took the time to ACTUALLY play with the dogs and give them a lot of love. The team stayed overnight at our house for the duration of the trip and I can't recommend them enough. I found Pugs & Kisses (and Kisbel) on the Nextdoor app and decided to take a chance on a stranger- and I'm so glad I did! Kisbel was quickly responsive to my inquiry, and arranged to come over to introduce herself, and meet me and my sketchy kitty. My husband and I were immediately at ease with Kisbel and could see this was not her first petsitting rodeo. She arrived prepared with her new client information forms and we quickly worked out the details of the particular weekend that we needed help with. We discussed when and how often she would come, went over the food and cat box routine, how to get in and out of the house, the "personality" details about our cat, and so on. Kisbel was attentive and made notes of everything and was so obviously conscientious of what we were entrusting her with- not just our special needs fur baby but also our home. When the weekend finally came for us to leave town, Kisbel was an excellent communicator with us as far as when she was coming and going, how our kitty was doing; she sent pictures and video of our kitty as well which we absolutely loved and again made us feel even more at ease. Each day Kisbel stayed a minimum of 30 minutes (easily verifiable between our extra attentive neighbors and our single security camera) and that really did our hearts good because our cat is getting older and has some separation anxiety to go along with her medical issues. Our cat requires daily medication, which Kisbel also administers. Needless to say, we went on to use Pugs&Kisses several more times after that first visit and couldn't be happier with the level of care and attention that Kisbel gives our baby. If you're like us and don't enjoy boarding your fur baby when you have to leave town, I highly recommend giving Pugs&Kisses a call and letting Kisbel take care of your pet(s).
