When we first met Arturo, I honestly didn't believe anyone could make a real difference with my dog in less than 10 days. Our dog Lucky is a Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherd mix. He has a lot of energy and can get very intense. Before training, life with Lucky was somehow stressful. He barked at almost anyone who came close to my mom, especially my dad. Walks were also difficult because he constantly pulled on the leash and would get tangled around my legs. Then we started training with Arturo, and things began to change much faster than I expected. What impressed me the most was that every single day we trained with him, I could see real improvement. It wasn't just small changes either. Lucky began to calm down and focus. Walking him is now completely different. I can comfortably walk and even jog with him, which used to feel impossible. Another big change is how Lucky reacts to other dogs. I contacted Arturo after a horrible experience with Working Dogs for Warriors. I told him about my 2 dogs. One is a 5 year old boxer/pit mix (Rue) and the other is a 2 year old chihuahua/dachshund mix (Samus). Rue had problems with always barking, pulling on the leash during walks, separation anxiety, coming when called, chasing our cats and getting overly excited when meeting new dogs. Samus had similar problems with barking, separation anxiety, fear of other dogs (she had been attacked by another dog before) and chasing our cats. Could not possibly be happier with Arturo's work. He was thoroughly professional, punctual, great communication, worked around our availability when unexpected things came up, and most importantly he was just fantastic with our dog Eleanor. She's a very spirited 1-year old Great Pyr mix, good-hearted, just has energy and excitement to burn. Arturo was very patient with her, and with us, as he taught us how to teach Eleanor. Not just basic commands, but the philosophy of how a dog learns, and both the good and bad things that we'd been doing unknowingly, some of which had been helping and some of which...not so much. That's not to take away at all from Arturo's extensive knowledge and experience or his impressive work ethic (after an hour-long session, we were almost as pooped as Eleanor). Arturo and Jill really went above and beyond with our Milo a 2 and a half year old highly reactive rescue of unknown genetics (working dog for sure but not much else is known). We found Milo in April of 2024 near a local trail. Not being certain of his situation we decided to take Milo to our local shelter to see if we could reconnect him with his family. With no chip and no calls for his return we decided to foster him after a mandatory waiting period. It was a tough first few weeks but we made the decision to adopt him. We contacted a local dog daycare whom offered us training through their in-house trainer. Although much effort was given by our initial trainer we had very little progress with his reactivity. He did make one dog friend but that was about it. The next few months would see Milo regress and become even more reactive. This was so disheartening. Poor Milo needed help we couldn't provide even with a professional trainer. Life became all about Milo and not much else. This was tough because I bonded with Milo so quickly and returning him to the shelter was not an option. Fast forward to February 2025 where we were given a recommendation to ARK9. We called and scheduled a free consultation. We meet with Jill who came to our home and provided us an initial evaluation. She recognized Milo's disposition and offered another evaluation with Arturo the following day. Arturo also meet with us at home and had us do a couple of exercises with Milo to see how he responded. Many of our issues with Milo stemmed from my lack of experience and giving Milo either to much lead way or miscommunication on my part. For what it's worth Milo has working dog genetics and with his high drive can be excited at times you don't want him to be. The training has allowed us to recognize his current frame of mind and take appropriate steps to mitigate any unwanted behavior before heading out. Training is only a part of this process. Exercise and mental stimulus are needed every day for dogs of this nature and probably all dogs in general. Training is now complete and we have since been able to walk Milo around other dogs and around people in public with minimal fuss. This is a life changer for us! Arturo came to my home on a Sunday to help me with my puppy. He's very punctual took the time to explain to me why my puppy was nipping on me. I did not know the difference between play fighting and fighting for dominance. Everything a pug does is cute. You know what is not cute, one of them losing an eye! I should have called Arturo sooner to train our pugs Poppy and Pretzel. Within a week of training, there was a positive difference in our dogs. I am writing this review today not as a client of Arturo's, but as a fellow dog trainer and what turned out to be a mentee. When I met Arturo I was a somewhat new trainer and without his guidance I don't know if I would've ever completely realized my purpose and passion. He went out of his way to teach me, drive me, push me, and give me a "swift kick" (figuratively haha) if I needed it, which made me to be a better trainer. And when I was unsure of my potential he built me up and gave me the confidence that I knew I had but could not access at the time, just as he does with his clients. I rehomed my Cane Corso Kora when she was 8 months old and finally decided to get her training once she turned a year. And I honestly wish I had done it sooner, I was scared she was set it in her ways but when Arturo and Jillian came for her consult, they gave me hope they were able to help with her behavior (reactiveness,obedience etc.). Even with just the consult we learned so much! I knew they were the right fit for training Kora! We trained for a few weeks, and both Kora and I have learned a lot! Training taught us how to use the prong collar correctly, as well as an e-collar, how to be more stern with Kora, how to read her body language and how to introduce her to new people coming to our home without so much reactiveness as well as being in public spaces. It's been a great, educational, and fun few weeks! Kora is doing SO much better and so much more obedient. I will continue to use the teaching tactics both Arturo and Jillian have taught! Arturo is not only amazing trainer of dogs, but a trainer for the dog parents! His knowledge of behavior is extensive and what he teaches the dogs and dog owners make complete sense. He trained 2 of our dogs, a goldendoodle and a labradoodle. We loved having our training sessions with the dogs and Arturo in our neighborhood, as well as in a local Lowe's. We were so sad when it was Arturo's last day! He's an expert in the field of dog training. He has a wealth of knowledge and just watching him do what he does with the dogs is incredible!
