I ordered the clam chowder and, of course, oysters. The oysters were all amazing, with a great variety to choose from. They were shucked really well and came with both a mignonette sauce and a jalapeño sauce, which paired nicely with them. They are a bit pricey, but that's oysters for you. The restaurant itself is pretty big, though it can get packed during peak hours. If you're driving, just know there's no nearby parking since it's located on the waterfront, so you'll likely have to park a few blocks away. Overall, a great spot if you're craving fresh oysters with a view.

After getting the bill, we confronted the waiter on selling us a 30 dollar old fashioned, he proceeded to say "if you have financial problems you should let us know beforehand". Might as well call me broke and spit in my face. The cherry on top was they charge a guaranteed 20% tip but never once smiled at any of us or made anyone feel welcome!! Just don't come here it's not worth it...

The dining area is small but felt large. Really cool vibe to the place. There were a few small tables on the sidewalk outside. I sat at the bar along the front window and people watched as I devoured some oysters and that amazing stew. Parking wasn't too bad either. I easily found street parking.

We ordered the geoduck chowder, a dozen oysters, a mixed half-mussel / 青口 plate, baked oysters, and a lemon drop for my wife. Everything landed pretty much as expected. The chowder tasted like a lighter, slightly sour clam chowder--watery side of things, but I liked it, especially with the bread for dipping. Wife's lemon drop was... polite. More lemon than drop. The only real sour note wasn't on the menu: the automatic 20% service charge. Tips used to be optional appreciation. Now they're just payroll with extra steps. Nothing blew us away, nothing disappointed hard. Solid 4 stars.

They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, as well, so it's a great place to meet with a group. We had 6 oysters each off the happy hour menu, which were perfect plump Hama Hamas that day. I also had the cheeseburger with a side of fries, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The cheeseburger was juicy, well seasoned, and perfectly cooked, and I especially loved that the lettuce and onion were shredded thinly. To wash it all down, I had a couple of spritzes, and really enjoyed the "a rose is a rose". Service here is friendly and quick, and we felt very well taken care of. Half Shell is honestly a perfect place to have a meal with friends. It's central and easy to get to, there's lots of seating in a gorgeous restaurant, and the food is great! Will be working this into my rotation.

The place is also super cute and well decorated, and our server was a beautiful man. Would come back again!

Everything was really good and there was a nice variety of things to order. We sat outside on the dock and the seating was probably my favorite part of the whole experience. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and were told the wait would be about an hour and 15 minutes. We asked about the bar, and after about five minutes, two seats opened up. We ordered the Dinghy chowder sampler so we could try three different chowders. We came for the clam chowder. I thought the flavor was good, although the texture was a little different for me. The biggest disappointment was the regular clam chowder. We don't eat bacon, and they told us the bacon could not be left out. Since clam chowder was the main reason we came, that really took away from the experience. A few minutes after we ordered, a couple sitting next to us at the bar asked the same question we did: "Is there bacon in the award-winning clam chowder?" When the server said yes, they said, "Okay, never mind. We don't want that." So we weren't the only ones asking. We ended up having the lobster chowder. Overall, 3 out of 5. The experience was okay, but because we couldn't really try the clam chowder we came for, we don't plan to come back.

However, I was disappointed with the scallops as it tasted raw and cool to the touch in the center.
