Well we had to wait 45 minutes for a table on a Saturday night I can't really complain about that except it was South Asheville and it was in a seedy Little strip mall with two other Asian restaurants it's voted the number one restaurant in South Asheville and I don't get it! I got a bowl of soup with a bunch of noodles in it it tasted weird but apparently that's what this stuff taste like I just didn't like the taste I didn't like anything about the restaurant the staff was cold and distant couple of hollows but nothing more. Good pho, they are a nice find here in town since there isn't many options for pho around Asheville. They have a nice staff, and the service is pretty fast. The place gets pretty busy sometimes though so there is a wait sometimes. The egg rolls are good and the vermicelli bowl was good as well. Definitely go to this place, it's good. read more

Obviously Asheville needs more pho shops, as the supply/demand curve on Black Friday had the overwhelmed thus rude (benefit of the doubt) host/server pointing us at table, tossing condiments at us, generally ignoring, and only recognizing us when dropping the check. Parking can be tricky here, and if it's a weekend evening, the only place to wait is outside on the sidewalk. There are a few tables on the sidewalk, so it can feel a little awkward to be leaning against the wall, near a door and window while being close to a couple who's eating. The food is delicious. We discovered this gem while waiting to find out how VRBO was going to resolve our accommodation issue. The Pho was outstanding. We started off with a couple of orders of the dumplings and definitely did not regret that. We actually got an order to go so we had some with our leftovers. Best Pho in town in my opinion. Anytime it's cold out and I get an itch for soup, this is my favorite place. Nice small cafe staple dining. Nothing fancy but that's not needed for great soup. All the traditional fixin's. I like throwing everything extra in my bowl but I am carful with the jalapeños. They can be super spicy. Good service, super reasonably priced. Parking is easy. I almost don't want to post about wild ginger because the lines and waits are pretty long already and I don't want more people to find out about how good it is! I have lived in Asheville for three months now and I have probably been here almost once a week. It is delicious. I also recently found out I have allergies to dairy and gluten, so I really appreciate that the restaurant is super clear about what dishes contain allergens. The pho broth is delicious, I love their taro tea (get over ice if dairy free, blended has dairy), and their calamari (a treat for me!!). I will keep coming back not just because it's delicious and suits my food issues but also because everyone that works there is so nice! The pho is very good, chock full of delicious flavor. Love the beef and medium rare eye round of beef, so tender and thin; tons of bean sprouts, Thai Basil, cilantro....a nice squeeze of fresh lime and it is heaven!! I live in Johnson City. Quality pho is few and far between. Fortunately, on a trip back from Charlotte I happened upon this... Wild Ginger's menu boasts quite a few Vietnamese items. The pho was hearty, and this place got the vegetables right (sprouts, Thai basil, lime, and peppers). Broth was savory and flavorful. The fresh rolls with tofu and vermicelli came with that amazing peanut sauce which I love. When paying, I told the woman serving me that I wish they would open one of these in Johnson City. She responded with "We get that a lot from visitors" which to me, came as no surprise. Also, they have bubble tea! Need to get next time I come back (and yes, there will be a next time). read more

We took at long lunch on a Friday to check this place out. It was a restaurant someone at the office wanted to try for a long time. We arrived around 12:30pm and the place was full but we did not need to wait. The restaurant is in a shopping strip and can be easily missed when driving by. Atmosphere: The space is fairly small with all tables. It is a full service restaurant but it feels like it should be an order at the counter place due to the size. The cash register is located in a place that gets in the way of customers coming and going. Overall it a small normal restaurant space. Food: OMG...This place it the bomb. I am not a fan of Pho so I went with a suggestion from the staff to get the TANGHON (bean thread and egg noodle) Marinated shrimp and pork with, sauteed vegetables, Asian sausage and oyster sauce. However this was the most expensive item on the lunch menu. It was total worth it. I was not sure what Bean Thread Noodles were but they were so good. This dish had a little bit of everything and lots of meat. This one of my favorite noodle dishes I have ever had. You must try this place out. Service: The service was standard nothing special but our waters were always full and she was friendly. They do get busy during lunch time so things could get crazy. I wish this place would open a location in East Asheville. I will return but since it is so far away from me I am not sure when. read more

We enjoy eating at Wild Ginger. The Vietnamese dishes are interesting, and the staff is always very friendly. However, on our most recent visit we were disappointed to find that the restaurant, in a small strip center on Hendersonville Road, no longer has Vietnamese beer. I had my taste buds set for a "33" beer, but, alas, Wild Ginger no longer offers it. We had to a settle for a Happy Buddha Chinese beer, which was just so-so. Overall, I think the appetizers are the best things here, and I could make a meal out of just appetizers. A lot of customers love the pho, but I'm just not much of a pho fan. read more

Problem with their staff is if, and if, they answer the phone, they make you hold while hearing all the background noise - and never come back to the phone. So RUDE and it happened TWICE - my wait time was 8 minutes each time and they never came back to the phone. They should go to an online ordering system which would solve this. I really would like to rate well but they could not offer no MSG meals since I guess the sauces are not all made from scratch. Couldn't stay to enjoy a meal since MSG makes me very ill. They were very upfront about it which was greatly appreciated. Kept me from 3 days of illness. I've heard the food is very very tasty there though.
