While in Asheville for my nieces wedding, met some other friends who lived there at this location. All four of us greatly enjoyed our food. It was very full of flavor but for those of us that did not want it hot it was not and for those who did it was, which we each appreciated. Really enjoyed the pineapple curry & pad seew. Our server was polite and efficient and our order was correct. Contra to other Asian restaurants, I didn't feel we were overly crowded this had a nice amount of space. read more

Absolutely delicious! I had been craving a Thai tea while at the mall so we decided to stop in. Very fast service and a large menu. The thai tea came to the table and was as tall as I was! No problem for me!! Exactly what I had been looking for. I got an array of appetizers as well, all good with tasty sauces. Both were embarrassingly small and lacked ANY of the usual additions. No bean sprouts. No lime wedges. No basil leaves. Aka wicked pricy for not much to write home about. $50+ for three small soups that were under flavored and over salted. Not a win. I'll add this to my "never again" list. read more

We started with the fresh rolls and the rolls were pretty big and difficult to bite into into, wish they could have been cut into smaller pieces. We also ordered tom yum soup. Soup was very flavorful and good but was lukewarm, wish it had actually been hot. We also ordered drunken noodles with tofu and it was one of the best drunken noodles I've ever had. Wonderful to have another lunch option close to the office! Ventured out recently to try Suwana for lunch and was not disappointed. It was pretty quiet at first, and then people slowly started streaming in the front door. Service was great, very attentive without hovering. Started with the Miso soup, the warm broth hit the spot on a chilly day! Off the lunch menu we ordered Thai Fried Rice with Beef and a Vegetable Lo Mein dish. Both meals were delicious with a beautiful presentation. The portions are generous for a lunch serving, so of course, I had to take a lot of my Lo Mein in a to-go container! Will definitely be back for more office lunch outings! read more

I was hungry and in the mood for Thai so I went to a fav, Suwanna on Tunnel Rd, (East Asheville) because the food and service are both excellent and the location and restaurant are relatively quiet (off the busy AVL beaten paths). From their 8-page menu of great choices: The pork gyoza was delicious. The Basil Stir Fry plate was huge, also delicious and perfectly prepared. The holiday special drink. Basil Collins was tasty, light and refreshing. Even the water from a glass bottle was good. And great service was provided by the lovely Pom ("like the pomegranate".). Finally, it all came to just under $40, plus I left a well deserved good tip too, and I left with a to go container with enough for next day's lunch besides. Wow. Can't go wrong with them. Thank you. (BTW, I had to go out of my way to do this review because the Google review link scan wouldn't load. I had eaten at Suwana's other location (downtown on Broadway) a few times, but this one was literally across the street from our hotel, so we gave it a try. I was very pleased with this one also. I started with an order of fresh rolls with peanut sauce--huge and had to take part of them home) Also a seaweed salad and for an entree the Chicken Stir Fry with brown rice. Their brown rice was more elegant and tasty than most. The stir fry was somewhat unique and very delicious. I had been hiking today, so I was plenty hungry and ate it all. Plus mango sticky rice for dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. We intend to return the next time we are in Asheville. read more

A friend and I recently had dinner at Suwana. This was our first visit, but will not be our last. As we opened the door we were immediately impressed by the cleanliness, decor, and efficiency of the staff. The extensive menu offers a variety is Asian food. Speaking of food, it was delicious. The flavor and presentation were superb. In addition to the food, attentive staff, and ambience, the price was very reasonable. We highly recommend Suwana. My family and I love the downtown location which has a slightly different menu, this place has a broader range of options and this time I had the Pho, which was amazing, there aren't a lot of places around Asheville that have good Pho and the Pho here was out of this world with a perfect portion size and a good price! Sashimi...divine....the best wasabi Ever. Cashew chicken was so tasty as well. Lots of veggies in there and very generous sized portions. Ordered take out, but staff was very friendly and made sure to include soy sauce and chopsticks without having to ask. The restaurant has a full bar and is very warm and welcoming. My massaman was very bland and not well cooked at all. The veggies were tough and undercooked. I had been excited to have a Thai place close to home but was disappointed in the food. I waited a while before trying it because the last meal I had was at the downtown location in December and the yellow curry was terrible but I thought I would give them another chance at the new location but oh boy was I unhappy with the results. I expect Thai food to be flavorful and tasty but it was none of the things I expect when I pay a pretty high price for food that isn't good. I hate to give it a bad review but honestly it wasn't worth the money or time and ruined my only meal that day. Giving it two stars was being nice. read more

I went to Savannah when it was downtown and always enjoyed. My food in the ambience was wonderful. They've now since moved over to Tunnel Road outside the city limits outside the historic district and I still enjoy their food. Once 3 hit they turned off all the music and all the lights while we were trying to eat our food. The food was okay, nothing special. But we took very little time to order and not a long time to eat but were given a clear message that we were not welcome. We live locally and have eaten in and gotten takeout from Suwana several times...every experience has been a little different, to be honest. Their sushi is consistently good though once it was really gorpy. We got dinner to go last night...sushi, curry and green salads. Opened the salad containers only to find two servings of TOTALLY brown lettuce...all of it was rotten...how on earth could a reputable restaurant let such food out their door especially when it's such an inexpensive item to make? One tomato slice, one piece of cuke and the rotten iceberg. We are not snobs but when you pay a decent price for something and it's spoiled, it's maddening. I sent them an email and a photo but don't expect anything to come of it...nor do I suspect that we will be going there again. We love supporting local businesses of all kinds so as regular customers, this was pretty disappointing. We just made our own salads at home :) read more

If you're looking for good Thai food don't bother eating here. The Pad Thai was overly sweet and the Pad Woon Sen noodles with pork were overcooked and the pork was almost nonexistent(4-5 thin bits) and barely enough noodles. I ordered the Pad Woon Sen and they brought me the Pad Thai by mistake and I think they just removed some of the pork from it and added to my corrected order. When the check came one of our dishes was priced higher than the menu and they explained that the price had gone up, but they had ordered new menus, but they had been waiting a long time for them to be delivered. No mention was made when we ordered and they refused to make an adjustment. I can't believe that they think it's okay to charge higher prices and expect the customer to just accept it because they've increased their prices without changing it on the current menu. Service was terrible, one waitress for the whole restaurant and she was also doing the phone orders. She never came to check on us and had to be flagged down so I could request the correct food and it took so long that the two people I was dining with had finished their meal. The food we had was all excellent (Drunken Noodles, Pad Prik King, Scallop & Shrimp Hibachi, Pineapple Curry) and we nearly licked our plates clean. The plates were served with fresh and flavorful veggies. The sauces were exceptionally delicious--particularly the Pad Prik, which was rich with basil. Spicy plates can be spiced to order (1-low, 2-medium, 3-hot, 4-Thai hot, 5 extremely hot) and the scale is true to my expectation. If you are uncomfortable with habanero level hotness, don't order Thai spicy. If you are uncertain about your personal preference order medium and ask for some of Sam's sauce to spice upward according to your preference. Sam's sauce is absolutely incredible. I was spooning it out and eating it by itself, it's that good. I gotta figure out how to make it myself... The service was particularly friendly, attentive, and generous. The atmosphere and space is relaxed and comfortable. This will absolutely become our regular Thai spot in Asheville going forward. read more
