I've walked by Miyako House many times, tonite my wife was back in Calif to see family, so I decided to stop in and have dinner. It was not overly busy, but definitely on the noisy side, which was expected due to all the hard surfaces. It could get loud if it was busy. I was greeted promptly, and my server arrived moments after I sat down. I ordered the Miso soup, a Red Blossom roll with tempura shrimp, and the Yakisoba with chicken. The miso soup was great, a 5. The red blossom roll was very good, tasty with a nice crunch from the tempura, a 4.5. The yakisoba portion was huge, it was a bit on the savory / bland side for my taste, but it's been a good 10 years since my last yakisoba, so a 3.5. I'll likely get two lunches out of the leftovers. The men's room was very clean. Overall, a four star rating. I may well be back, if so, next time I'll either get a second hand roll, or try something else. We mostly came for hibachi and the other dishes rather then sushi alone- while the environment was nothing special I didn't think it was dirty or gross and some people here wrote. The bathrooms could use a facelift but otherwise it was your typical spot. We ordered tons of drinks and sake, both hot and cold which was all good. The hibachi for two came with California rolls and spring rolls- both were pretty good! The hibachi itself was actually some of the best I have had, especially the steak portion. We decided to try Miyako house based on the generous Yelp reviews. The inside is pretty big, and the staff was super friendly. We split a volcano sushi roll and the teriyaki chicken entree. We really enjoyed the sushi, but the chicken teriyaki was average in my opinion. The sauce that came with it was the best part. It was definitely enough for two people, though. Overall, this place is worthy of 3.5 stars in my book but because of the friendly staff, I'm upping it to 4. read more

What a great way to spend Christmas Day. Because it was Christmas Day I was expecting a really big crowd and to my surprise it was actually the complete opposite. My friends & I were able to come right in and sit down. They had a full menu and drink menu even on Christmas day. The food was exceptionally hot and super fresh and the portions were so large. What I liked most about this place was that the food was not greasy or heavy like some other places I have been . Hands down recommend this place when your in the Asheville area. Food was disgusting I got crab rangoons tasted like shit I got a spider roll couldn't even swallow it, I got a spicy crab roll it was the best out of all, and I got the tempura shrimp roll which is my go to. I can't say enough good things about this place. If I could give 10 stars, I would, easily. They're new downtown and already doing things right. I can place a pick up order on my phone, walk the block from my office and my food is ready by the time I get there. I'm sure during busy hours it wouldn't be as fast, but they text you updates so you have an idea. I have only tried a few of their lunch specials since my office is close and you can't beat it. Drink + soup or salad = 2 rolls and a drink with tip for $15... cant beat it. They seem to be taking COVID safety pretty well. I've only taken out but they have a plastic shield at the counter and everyone was wearing a mask + distanced. Something smells like stinky fish and I'm pretty sure it's some of these reviews...only 1 or 2 reviews by these Yelpers and yet they found this place? Sounds like friends or relatives of this place. There's no other way these reviews are even close to accurate because I HAVE never trashed a restaurant on Yelp. But I want to tell you about this place. Last night, I ordered to go/pickup at 5:30 pm. I received confirmation that my food was complete by 5:55 pm. I got my food at 8 pm. Where was it this whole time? When I finally got it, it went in the trash. The dumpling soup, the broth was good, but 3 gyoza dumplings tasted frozen and slimy. Next up was my Dancing Tuna Roll. Described on the menu as Spicy Tuna roll, topped with blackened seared tuna, masago, scallions, and wasabi sauce. What I received was pulverized tuna mixed with panko bread crumbs, which was neither spicy or had ANY flavor, let alone spice. I have never seen a restaurant ADD panko to spicy tuna as filler. N.E.V.E.R. And panko is not listed as an ingredient on the menu. What if I was eating it, assuming it was gluten free, as it should have been based on menu ingredients listed??? Then the roll was topped with slices of a low grade tuna. Low grade because it was anemic grayish pink looking, had a mealy look & feel to it as in definitely frozen, and it was neither blackened nor seared. Blackened implies a seasoning, seared implies it hit a saute or grill for a few seconds to slightly cook the outer edge. Neither described the tuna on my roll. Completely raw and bland of any flavor, including tuna. Then it was sprinkled with onion and a small dot of wasabi cream on each of 8 pieces. Even the pickled ginger was absolutely tasteless and dry. How is this even possible?? Are they short staffed? Are they having supplier issues? Should I even eat sushi that may have sat around Lord knows where for 2+ hours? And the presentation is better at the Publix sushi/deli counter. At least I had also ordered Thai Red Curry Chicken and white rice to save the day. Wrong. Tasteless red sauce with rubbery chicken and overcooked, pale green grey vegetables in a greasy sauce. Tasteless. How is Red Curry tasteless? Who was working the kitchen and doesn't know the recipes? I've had better Red Curry at Typhoon Noodle, counter service. It all went in the trash. All of it. $36 worth. And when I checked on my online receipt, a refund was already waiting for me. And I hadn't even complained. So someone knew what was up but they sent it out anyway. If you are short staffed or can't get supplies, or need to train new people, turn off your ordering systems, adjust your hours, make note of substitutions as needed, but don't keep making food and charging full price for food that isn't even close to correct. You are either going to make someone sick or piss off a lot of customers. I wish them luck but I won't be fooled twice here. read more

I forget the name of the two rolls but one literally had grounded up salmon wrapped around the outside of the rice/tempura fried shrimp roll. It was absolutely disgusting. Once we took off the salmon, you had this teeny tiny roll of just rice and shrimp.
