Amazing spot for Thai food!! The crispy pad Thai can't be beat, and also love the steamed Goyza!

Wild ginger (the rhizome), you make my turmeric seltzer sing. Wild Ginger (the Thai restaurant of Norwell), you make a right fine beef drunken noodle. The small but cozy dining room is neither a pro or con, when zipping in to pick up your online order (first one gets you 10% off). Unfortunately, delivery is no longer an option, but when it's a mere 30 minutes from clicking Submit to hot tom yum in your gullet, who needs an outside driver? Hot, incredibly light, and more than two meals' worth from each (she got pineapple fried rice), the $11 entrees delivered eye-opening spice accenting solid clean flavors at a very reasonable price. Neither over-sauced mush or bone dry spackle, my noodles gave good chew and stood up to the pleasantly steamed veg. The only ding: proteins, for the most part, were shredded too finely, and all but absent in my otherwise sour and savory soup. One shrimp, y'all? Really? Flew into Boston Logan and was on my way up to the Cape but I was hungry and had a hankering for Thai. SO lucky to have found this spot. I had the best Massaman Curry of my life, a delicious bowl of Tom Yum soup and my hubs had the Drunken Noodle which was also delicious and had a very good basil flavor. I went there to order some food to go. The staff greeted me - very friendly. I order some crab ragoon, pad thai and a chicken basil. She said 15min so we went to the liquor store right next door. Once we were back food was already done! Very quick. The order was right and everything delicious! I have been there before as well and was always quick and easy. They help with the menu items too! Some of the best Thai I've had South of Boston. Really enjoyed the Fresh rolls, phad thai and red curry. The service was 5-stars! The food came out quickly and hot. Our servers were wearing masks. Okay, when the crab rangoon comes out just slightly bigger than a breath mint, you know there's trouble in Bangkok. Some people might think that this is the greatest Thai restaurant on the South Shore, and that just isn't the case. The decor of the restaurant and the staff are nice, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. If a restaurant is going to charge $17 for a combo appetizer platter, then it better be good. It wasn't. Everything was too deeply fried. If you ever wondered why there's an obesity crisis, just order the combo appetizer platter. I ordered a couple of other entrees and they were average. The good thing is that they are a bit less expensive than a competitor such as Lime Leaf. But I'd rather pay a bit more for better food. The parking space is small, as others have commented, and you definitely don't want a table right by the window at night because cars pulling in right in front of that window and leaving their headlights on as their occupants wait for their pickup orders to be ready is a bit of a blinding affair. If you really are craving Thai food, and you live in the area of this restaurant and don't want to travel, then you should go. The food isn't atrocious. It's just very average bordering on below-average. read more

We went to Wild Ginger before seeing a show nearby. It was perfect. The staff was friendly, we were sat immediately and the food was great. Terrific fresh rolls and gyoza. I got the Wild Ginger fish entree and it was so delicious. The batter was flavorful and the fish was perfect. I wish we lived closer. This is a small restaurant with attentive service and nice menu choices. We had four dishes- the chicken with rice noodles, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and minced chicken with spicy peppers served with brown rice. Crab Rangoon appetizer was excellent. 3 of us shared it and each had one Rangoon with one extra for the teenager dining with us. Seaweed sesame salad was very good- crunchy and fresh. Dishes were nicely presented, colorful and generous. Chicken with rice noodles was rather plain but the rice noodles were an inch or more wide so a winner in my opinion. Pricing is reasonable. This place has been consistently really great food and great service. Mostly I've been a take out customer, however a few times this winter I did dine in and the food and service were excellent then as well. What I value most in the service industry is consistency, and this place has been that ever time. I moved from the South Shore area to the Foxboro area last fall and have been searching for good thai food ever since. There is none near me. It's all mediocre at best. My boyfriend and I met my mom in the area today and stopped in at Wild Ginger for lunch. It was delicious!!! We had the crab Rangoon for a starter, chicken pad Thai, mango fried rice with shrimp & the drunken noodles with chicken for meals. Everything was delicious!!!!!!! It may be an hour drive, but we will definitely be back! It is worth it!! read more

Absolutely the worst Thai food I've had in a long time. Seafood delight $22.00 lots of vegetables, little SEAFOOD. Plural mussels in menu description: had 1-mussel, 1-shrimp, 1-scallop. Crab rangoons over cooked as were the other appetizers we ordered& tasteless. Someone advised NOT to go to Wild Ginger... & go to Sweet Lemons in Weymouth!! In an effort to explore the international dining options in Hingham and the surrounding areas, we relied on yelp. Though we found a few Thai places Wild Ginger had the most reviews and they were mostly positive. We dined in the first time and though service was pleasant and efficient, this place is pretty bright inside, fairly empty of other diners and just doesn't look and feel like any Thai restaurant I've ever been to. But the food is good. I had the Drunken Noodles with Beef and vegetables and my husband had the Pad Thai. Both were excellent. Large portions of quality food with fresh proteins and vegetables. And not greasy at all. Truly delicious. Perfect amount of sauce and the vegetable were cooked to perfection. We did start off with the fried calamari but we didn't love it, It was battered in the kind of batter they use for Chinese chicken fingers. Really thick and doughy and a bit greasy. The texture of the calamari was a little tough because the pieces were cut larger. It wasn't awful by any means but it just wasn't the type of fried calamari we expected. We also tried this place for take-out too and it was ready really fast. We were totally boring and ordered the same two meals we got the first time. But hey, they were good. We also tried the spring rolls and they were good but nothing to write home about. I guess the takeaway for us is that the entrees are better than the apps we've tried so far. But as for the dinners, they're flavorful, healthy and light. This is definitely going to be a place we frequent. read more

One of the best Thai Restaurants I have ever been to and I don't say that lightly! Terrific service and presentation on the plate. Decor was classy and the restaurant was impeccably clean. For such a nice place, I was very happy to find Crispy Chicken Pad Thai on the menu (a rarity, especially in the more "gourmet" places.) I keep on coming up with excuses to come back for lunch. We were greeted warmly and seated by the window. Considering how good the food was, i was surprised there weren't more people there on a Saturday night. Since I had eaten Thai food a few nights before, I wanted to try something different. I wish I had read some of these reviews before I went to Wild Ginger; I probably wouldn't have made some of the selections I did. We tried the Pad Thai crispy style but don't recommend it. I'm sure it was fine, but I wasn't crazy about the deep fried noodles. We tried the scallion pancakes - also deep fried - and they were quite good. There was a salmon dish on the menu done with a yellow curry sauce with mangoes that a friend tried with tofu instead of salmon. It was the hit of the night. I tried the chicken with pineapple -- good, but nothing special. Another friend tried a scallop dish and was a little disappointed in the scallops. The Wild Ginger has a liquor license and we all tried the Singha beer -- quite tasty and definitely worked well with our entrees. All in all, not as successful a dining experience as it might have been, but a place I'll definitely try again. read more

I hate when people review a restaurant based on take-out. The reviewer lacks the perspective of the restaurant's complete experience. That said, I am now I'm going to be a hypocrite and review Wild Ginger based on take-out. HAH! The chicken gra prow is awesome. It has the perfect balance of heat and flavor. The tofu triangles were typical and fine. The gyoza were okaaaaay but not my fav. The dough wrapper was too thick and the filling was a bit heavy as well. Our favorite Thai restaurant is Sweet Lemon in Weymouth but Wild Ginger is much closer so we decided to give it a try and were glad that we did. The restaurant decor is a bit more modern than Sweet Lemons and the service is equally as friendly and efficient. My husband enjoyed his Drunken Noodles and I tried something new for me - Udon Basil - which I liked very much. Just the right amount of spiciness and plenty of fresh veggies. The prices are a little higher than Sweet Lemon but overall we were very satisfied. Would definitely return. read more

New Thai in Norwell Makes a Tasty Introduction In desperate need to get my Thai fix (I used to live just blocks from the top Thai restaurant in the DC area) I was drawn to Wild Ginger Thai in Norwell based on office mates who said it was good. All of my meals from Wild Ginger are for lunch which is great because their noodle, rice, curry and other dishes have cheaper lunch prices than dinner. They also have a value meal of Lunch Plates for several of their specials that come in a handy take out container that can be used for leftovers for a couple of months. My first meal was of the Drunken Noodles ($8 for lunch $11 for Dinner). They were very good and unique in the fact that they included a lot of vegetables to the dish that I was accustomed to including squash, carrots, and celery. The noodles weren't greasy and the spicy sauce provided a warm blanket throughout the dish. I've gone back and gotten the Fresh Rolls ($7) which were HUGE. I thought they were very tasty but I felt they could've used a little avocado to bring a creamy texture to the carrots, cucumbers and lettuce. The hoisin dipping sauce was addictive and I needed more for the large sizes of the rolls. To go with the rolls I had the classic comfort food of Chicken Gra Pow ($8). It's a homestyle meal of stir fried minced chicken, string beans, onion and basil leaves with a spicy chili sauce. What makes it a comfort meal is the fried egg that sits atop the dish. When you break the yoke of the egg it's supposed to create this velvety sauce that provides a full mouth feel. However, my egg was totally overdone and no yoke was to be found to help out the sauce. I'm hoping it was due to the steaming that occurs for takeout meals. All in all the place is great for lunch, reasonable prices, nice decor, friendly staff and above all flavorful food. read more

This place is GOOD with a capital G..ok let's put it all in caps. It's very small and quite casual, but the food is incredible. The veggies are always SO fresh and because it's so good I"m always wanting to try new things. The basil udon with tofu and veggies is fantastic, more kick than I normally like but the doughy noodles balance it off. The veggies are perfectly cooked. We've had pad thai, many of their curries, their fresh rolls and so many others things. It's a great place, SUPER fast take out and very efficient when you eat there as well. Friend and I walked in thinking it was a takeout only place, but were pleasantly surprised by a cozy seating area - a bit dated but that's expected in this kind of asian restaurant. Ordered a shrimp and chicken pad thai and a drunken noodle (also shrimp and chicken). Both were definitely enough to make me come back, but the shumai was a but pricey and on the small side. Note: reviewing 2 take out experiences This didn't change my standard for Thai food but it certainly was a delightful meal. I had the Spicy Basil Udon twice and found it to be consistently delicious. It was not as hot as I would have liked but the rest of the spice profile hit the spot. It had a good ratio of chicken, vegetables and noodles so that I didn't feel like I payed for sauced Udon. I had a slightly different blend of vegetables in each one of my orders, actually found it interesting. My girfriend had the Chicken Gra Pow and she seemed to like it. The portion size was generous and the taste had me stealing a couple extra bites after the initial taste. Good kick to it, but one that didn't turn off my mild food loving lady. All in all, a reasonably priced Thai place that will err on the side of caution with spice but still very worth checking out. read more

I NEVER thought I would find outstanding Thai when I was away from home, But thanks to Yelp, this place will be my go to place whenever I am in town. I ordered three traditional Thai dishes,(Basil with Chicken, Ginger with Chicken, and Black Pepper Mango Curry. All of the flavors were a perfect combination of spices, and meat and vegetables. Not ALL veggies and little meat, like most places. I know they are not difficult dishes to make, but why is it that no one seems to be able to make them? Anyway, it is a small place, not a lot of parking in the lot, but it still managed to be very bright inside. The woman who took my order was so friendly, and helpful. She was very personable, and chatted with me to pass the time quicker. The food came very quickly, and was such a good price, I stayed within my business budget easily, even though I purchased three dishes. Did I mention how delicious this food was? Just moved back to the area after a year in New York. We drove by this place at least four times before we had to stop and try it. I love Thai food...grew in LA and was spoiled by all the great Asian cuisine available. Ordered take-out...pad Thai and beef basil...both were great but our fave was the beef basil dish...delish! The place is super cute and very clean, hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Wll definitely be back...take out and sit down.
