Had a nice dinner here with friends a while back. Nice casual easy location with enjoyable decor. Its super small and sweet, the staff was friendly and ok, but could have been better. I think it might just have been our sever, she wasn't to polished(perhaps new to the job) and we had to ask for water refills several times - I HATE having to ask for water refills, once is bad but multiple times - grrrrrrrr - hence only 3 stars, Ordered the edamame and calamari for an appetizer, both good - the calamari was large pieces, fried just right in a nice light tempura batter with an OUTSTANDING chili sauce. The udon Garlic dish was exceptional and the lemon scallop was also very nice. Both dishes were light but filling and very fresh tasting. The Pad See Ew was good - pretty basic dish, no surprises good or bad on that one. Nothing was was too spicy, this would be a great place for someone wanting to try Thai food for a first time but isn't into spicy, it is very good fresh tasty food. Excellent choice for today's quarantine cuisine. I am 1/2 hour drive from this restaurant but food traveled well and was still warm when I got it home. Heat level of items on menu is accurately described. I prefer the very spicy food items but the staff is willing to adjust spice factor if requested. read more

Wild Ginger is a perfectly fine Thai spot in the Hingham/Norwell area. I've had a few of the appetizers and I have had no complaints. The Pad Thai and the Curries taste fine. I always take issue with Thai places that are easy on the spicy. I asked for my pad thai EXTRA spicy and didn't even need water when I ate it. I love Thai food and this place is far from a dissappointment but not a special Thai place to go out of my way. This place is so friendly and welcoming! I got take-out but will definitely be back to eat at this place! The staff was incredibly welcoming when I arrived and had a conversation with me as I was waiting for my pineapple fried rice to be ready. Not only does this place have great staff, the food is excellent and they are accommodating if you make a specific (diet) request. This was an OK little place. My bf and I stopped in for a late lunch around 2pm on the way to a friend's house. It was a little quiet and awkward. The background music was low, and we were in there with another couple, and a notably grouchy old man who was concerned and persistent that his soup comes out "BEFORE THE FOOD!!!" This obviously had the only waitress working the floor worn out, so her semi-detached tone with us was understood and forgiven. We made an extra effort to make her shift less miserable and she had lightened up by the end of our meal. For the most part the food was alright. I got Tom Yum soup, and it was tasty. It had one pepper symbol next to it, and knowing "mild" to some Thai restaurants means INFERNO HOT, I ask if my soup can be "not too spicy" just to be sure. It came mild. :D The Cashew Chicken which has pineapple, squash, onions, cashews, basil, some other tasty stuff. I liked it. They give you an option for white or brown rice too. ----Avoid---- My bf ordered the fish cakes for an appetizer, and I found these to be pretty gross actually. They *appeared* crispy, but when you bit into it the outside was tough and rubbery. The insides were mushy. Flavor-wise they were ok, texture wise eeeewwwwwwww. Love it! Always consistent, great service! Husband and I love to go here. The fresh rolls w/ tofu are always delicious and the sauce is da bomb. The spring rolls are brought out hot and fresh. I always get the Drunken Noodles. The noodles melt in your mouth! Watch for the spice level if you aren't used to it. We've gotten take out and it was excellent as well w/ large portions. I have mixed feelings about this place. We ordered takeout last night. Appetizers were good- crab Rangoon, chicken satay, scallion pancakes and gyoza. Entrees, however, left much to be desired. Yellow curry is always my go-to. The sauce here was extremely bland and very watered down. Curry is usually extremely flavorful, I don't even understand how it was prepared to be so flavorless. I was really bummed about that. Chicken teriyaki was just ok also. Pad Thai was pretty good though and I'd get that again, if I return. read more

Prices are reasonable and they have a huge menu with items I had not seen before and I have eaten a lot of Thai food. If I could give NO STARS I would..... I ate at this place a lot over the past year but never again. I ordered the chicken pad Thai and had to run to the bathroom with in a minute of eating it to throw up. I will never go back. I can't believe that this happened. So glad to find a flavorful Asian restaurant near our new suburban digs! Love the Crispy Fried Basil Chicken and the Ginger Fish! The Pad Thai is good, and the appetizer combo is a safe bet. Sometimes the veggies taste like they haven't been washed, though, some of the soy sauce-based gravies can be really salty, and I agree with Emily that sometimes there are way too many onions in some of the dishes. However, we are hooked: my older son now specifically requests this for take-out, though it is on the pricey side. The staff are very nice and we like giving them our business. read more

Haven't been to this restaurant in at least 9months. Very disappointed in my Wednesday night takeout. Food was over cooked and appeared to be reheated. Pupu platter was very well done and had no flavor. Only thing that remained the same was the variety of sauces included. Steak and peppers as well as pork fried rice poor quality. Just excellent. I've ordered nearly all the vegetarian and chicken appetizers, all the curries, Thai ice tea and Pad Thai and every one has been superb. My favorite Thai -better than any of the Amarin-related restaurants in Metro West. Never a wait for sit-down (I think they do mostly takeout), beer and wine, and an interior that's spotless. My only complaints are that the too-quiet dining room means you can overhear other conversations, and that occasionally the food isn't as spicy as I'd like, but the flavors are otherwise delicious. read more

I've been here several times in the last few months and I have to say it has become one of my favorite restaurants and undoubtably my favorite thai restaurant. I can't say enough about the food, every meal I have had was great. My favorite dish is the crispy chicken pad thai. Toss some sweet chili sauce on that and it's a match made in heaven. The serving sizes are pretty big too, which is always a plus. Not only are the prices reasonable but the waitstaff are very nice as well. My only complaint (which is a very minor one) would be that the restaurant is rather small, having only 7 or so tables, and they are within a couple feet of each other so you're not going to be having any private conversations. But hey, you can't have it all! In conclusion, Wild Ginger is, like the rating says, as good as it gets, and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who enjoys thai food! read more

The dinner portions are huge- in my experience, one order of pad thai from the dinner menu feeds three. Everyone who works here is really friendly and more than happy to make accommodations. The only reason I gave it an additional star over the minimum is because the wait staff was extremely patient and helpful. The reason the restaurant loses it stars is because it doesn't do justice to its primary purpose, i.e. the food. We had ordered fried rice, pad thai and a couple of curries. Unfortunately the famed pad thai was 'out of stock' and we had to double order the rice. The vegetables in our curries were barely cooked, we could still feel the crunch of the carrots and the string beans as if they were served to us raw. The flavor of the curry had barely permeated into the food. The decor was ok.. it looked more like a house converted into a tiny restaurant. I definitely feel there are better options around this area for thai food. This restaurant is as pricey as comparable thai restaurants but not as tasty. read more
