All in all this is a very good restaurant. The menu is innovative and the dishes are delicious and well prepared. Like so many places these days, they are a bit under staffed so a little patience goes a long way toward ensuring a good experience. My one gripe... the bar needs to step up and get a decent tonic. The stuff out of the hose is crap and a killer of good Gin. Note on staffing: called to change a reservation, got put on hold for 30 minutes before I bailed. Made a reservation for Pizza night (Wednesday). Got there, was very crowded, OK. After waiting 30 minutes past our reservation poor little girl said they couldn't honor our reservation. Also bartender was very distracted and inattentive. I have been there once before and while that time we waited 15 minutes past our reservation (which is OK). The food was great but I felt over valued but I'm willing to support local and would go back but not now. Totally disgusting experience. Go next door to The Bohemian Restaurant. We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner at Wild Morel and the experience was an expensive disappointment. Upon a greeting of "hi guys" we were asked if we wanted tap water or sparkling. Tap water? The salad and dinner rolls were good and then... Of our five dinners two were missing sides, three were served with minimal amounts of meat and the Madeira ham that was on the plates was dry. One of our party received only one, small piece of dark meat turkey that was inedible due to it being fatty. The truffle macaroni was bland, the green beans (a total of five on my plate) were so salty, the cornbread stuffing was good but no discernible andouille sausage flavor and I can't say anything about the squash as that was missing from my plate. Food was sloppily plated and sides were not separated. Thankfully the wine we chose was good. Service seemed disorganized and when there was contact we were referred to as "you guys" by our primary server. This was a special occasion as family was in town and we planned for a delicious meal out but that was not what we received. read more

The restaurant is in a charming refinished cottage in downtown Brevard. My husband and I were lucky to get a table last minute for the New Years Eve Wine Paring that did not disappoint. I tried things I thought I did not like (ex. Riesling wine) and found I do indeed like it! From the light butternut salad to the divine Chocolate ganache, and everything in between: Shrimp, Rabbit, and Wagyu beef. This five course dinner did not disappoint. All flawlessly put together by an amazing chef and staff. Our waiter told us the wines they served were some of the chefs favorites. I can see why. They were all high quality wines, each one had something different to offer and all the wine was good. After trying each one, my husband said, "we need to get a case of this!", Honestly, we are from the city of Orlando and we were surprised to find a gem like this in the small town of Brevard. Quaint and easy to have a conversation. (Not too loud). Perfect for a date night, special occasions, or a night out for a foodie. We love this restaurant. It is our go-to place. The food is always excellent and it is not the same dishes you see on every other restaurant's menu. The chef puts his own spin on each selection. Our party of 2 dined at Wild Morel for the first time Saturday evening and everything was spot on. We sat on the patio which has a lovely atmosphere with the perfect low key soundtrack playing in the background. We started with the artisanal bread and portabella mushroom appetizers which both were delicious and then enjoyed the pork bourguignon and veal cutlet & Bayonne ham entrees. This is a MUST try in Brevard. Everything was great! My husband and I were able to get a reservation last minute. We ordered the lobster hush puppies and calms to start. They were both delicious in different ways. The hush puppies were fluffy on the inside with a wonderful crisp outside. The calms came in a tasty broth with a perfect slice of toasted bread. For entrees, we ordered the Kansas City strip special and squid ink pasta. The steak was cooked to the perfect temperature. It came with crispy potato skins which were equally tasty. The squid ink pasta came in a cream sauce. With each bite, I wanted more. Needless to say, we would came back! read more

Went there Friday Night and was seated right away... great. Service was awful, not enough staff for amount of customers...waitress not so great! Food was good but took way to long to get and one of the people at our table got there's 10 minutes later than everyone else. Unacceptable. The menu is very small and very pricey. They need a chicken dish and bread would be great with our soup and salads. My steak was good but could be better for $38, I would prefer smaller steak for a better cut. The ambiance is wonderful and our server was friendly. The food is nothing to write home about, nothing we ordered was good. We also had a bad experience with the manager. Our waitress accidentally brought us the wrong bottle of wine and we didn't realize until we got a bill that was significantly more than we expected (a $70 difference). When the manager came out, he said it was "a mistake on all sides" and was almost accusatory... as if we were trying to get a cheaper price on wine. This place could be so much better but unfortunately I will not be back. read more

Wonderful new restaurant in Brevard and would have been a five star restaurant - without the staffing shortfalls noted below. We've had dinner on three occasions and the food and selection were wonderful. However, it's evident that that have a problem with hiring staff, which seems to be a problem in this region and North Carolina as a whole. Our server on all three occasions were overworked and had too many tables, which made it difficult to get the drink orders correct and provide the service, as expected at a restaurant of the type. read more

My wife and I and two other couples spent New Year's Eve at the Wild Morel. The menu was a single-item Surf and Turf option at $95 each. The meal included an appetizer, a lettuce salad, a steak ( 20% inedible, tough ) an unidentifiable, mostly crusted surf two bites only, mashed potatoes, and a Cheese Cake dessert. This meal would have been considered a low-quality offering at most roadside pubs. This is the first restaurant review that I've ever written and I do this because the quality when compared to the price was simply unacceptable. I have given this restaurant several tries. I asked that my brother and sister in laws dinner be paid by us as a surprise. They didn't do that. Called and they said they would make it up to us. Next dinner we had they did not make it up to us even with the owner coming to our table. I realized while checking out my American Express statement they doubled charged us and here it is two weeks later it still has not been resolved. I was told that it's there provider who has not corrected it. It's a shame because their food is excellent. read more

Made reservations for 7:30 got there at 7:20, couple at bar complains to Bartender that they didn't have reservation but he promised them he would get them seated. He immediately seated them. We were finally seated at 8:20, we did receive a bottle of wine and some bread, placed our order, and at 9:30 we still hadn't been served saw the bar people leaving after eating. The owner comes over and said our food is on the way, no apology nothing, he saw my face and said that he was going to comp the wine. I told him that he could take the bottle of wine and shove it up his ass, threw $30.00 on the table for the wine and told him to look at my ass because he wouldn't see again in his place. We ate thanksgiving dinner here. It was a prefixed menu, as advertised. Well, to start. My martini was all olives and very light pour. Titos on the rocks ordered by another. He said it tasted funny. The waitress said ..." We gave you ketal one, we are out of titos" didnt ask the paying costumer if that was ok. Another asked for lemons.. never served. Rolls were never served. Halfwaythrough dinner, we asked about it.. 7 of us at the table. They brought 4 undercooked rolls. Dinner was slopped together on one plate. Very salty, not that great. The salad was good :). Desert, was serve yourself. Mediocre at best. The pecan pie was overcooked. Unpalatable. The rest was not great. No coffee was offered. $58 p/p. Plus drink. 4% credit card fee. Tax, and tip. Apx $100 per person. This was my first thanksgiving eating out. Never again. On the way out we overheard the chef say. I just want to get the F out of here! Well, you should never go back. If the restaurant wants to stay open. I gave a star for the atmosphere. Service, food ,and prices were terrible. read more

Very disappointed. Service sloppy and disorganized. Getting a alcoholic beverage took 10 minutes. Limited menu with hot dishes served barely warm (think cold). Returning anything a non-starter as it took forever to get anyone's attention and the request seemed to go nowhere. Coffee served at the end of the meal was cold. It seemed that the staff was a little grumpy and flustered because they were putting in a new software system. I would NEVER come back to this place. We went went there for dinner last night and from the beginning to the end it was the worst experience of my life. It took us 30 minutes to receive drinks, Then another 25 to receive the bread that comes on the table. My brothers asked for 2 lemonades and got water with lime concentrate in them. they politely told the server that they didn't like the way they tasted because they were too bitter. The server then came to our table and took the order. My friend ordered a steak with a side of pasta and my brothers ordered the stake but just asked them not to put the spinach on the steak, We thought everything was fine until the OWNER came to out table very aggressively and said "What's the Problem" we told him there was no problem and the lemonades were just too bitter and they said they will just drink water and were OK. He refused to walk away and attempted to get into a back-and-forth with us about what was going on. We were so confused. 30 minutes later we were wondering where the food was, The boys began getting antsy so they asked when the food was coming out. I noticed a couple across the dining room that sat down after us was already eating their food. I then noticed that couple get their check and I noticed something was wrong. the owner then came over again and it was a very aggressive encounter again and we felt so uncomfortable. we then got our food and ate and left. We then wanted to talk to the owner about what happened when we were leaving and he told us "Lets take this outside" he then ushered us into the middle of the street and started a shouting match, my brothers ran to the car because they were so scared because they thought there was about to be a physical altercation. My family was was treated so badly I dont wish anyone to go there and deal with that guy. read more

Charming restaurant in downtown Brevard. The restaurant description on Yelp for being "modern European" is inaccurate; it's farm to table using locally resourced ingredients. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions are not oversized as you normally find in restaurants. Make note that on Sunday the menu is very limited. To experience the full menu you need to go on a different day. While the food was perfect, I did find that some of the servers attitudes to be off putting (rolling their eyes as they walked away from a table, seeming annoyed with the hostess and the manager). Our server was fine. Perhaps the others were just having a bad day. read more

I was so hopeful the reviews I read on our neighborhood Nextdoor website were not truly a good representation of this newer restaurant in Downtown Brevard. Made a reservation a day in advance. When we arrived the hostess informed us they had us down for the wrong day. Only three tables occupied so it didn't seem it was worth mentioning. There was one server and our service was terrible. She took our order and 10 minutes later she returned to ask if we were ready to order. SIGH! I ordered the daily pasta special and received the wrong entrée. Food was good and we enjoyed the creative menu but at a cost of almost $70.00 for lunch I would really struggle to return. A keen eye will observe the building, restrooms and dining room are dingy. Maybe with the approaching quieter months ahead the chef can work the kinks out and provide a much better dining experience in the Spring. I will once again trust my Nextdoor neighbors to report on their upcoming experiences. read more

Hey Brevard! Now we have another first class restaurant from which to choose. Square Root still holds the top trophy, but it doesn't take reservations, and sometimes you need one. We also love Vescovo for its class, and Quixotes for its authenticity, but Chef Tony brings a new elevated choice to us foodies that like variety. After hearing stellar reviews from trusted locals, we enjoyed a beautiful outdoor dining experience at Wild Morel featuring fresh seafood, approachable wine list, and local seasonal ingredients, all presented by an enthusiastic knowledgeable staff. This restaurant can hold its own amongst Asheville's finest and joins the other top three Brevard restaurants to offer generous portions at reasonable prices and park-in-the-neighborhood access for a relaxed and delicious dining experience.
