After you text the phone number, you are provided with directions on where to go and *what to bring.* Upon entering the doors, you are greeted a decorative venue filled with a wall of records (I could be wrong), a citrus tree, and wall full of neon writing. Lighting was dark, and music was lo-fi; this was a great place to vibe casually with friends on a weekend. We checked in with one of the bartenders, and we were lead to our chairs (which by the way, were a cute pair of royal looking seats. We ordered our drinks (the switch, toki tea, hold the boba, and purple dragon (as a cocktail)). Drinks looked super cute, and tasted very well. The amount of alcohol was not overwhelming or underwhelming. They were definitely worth the price of $15. My favorites were the switch and purple dragon cocktail! Be in the mind that everything... and I mean everything is vegan! We ordered the mushroom kalbi, char siu tofu baos, hoisin mushroom baos, "spicy ahi," tofu musubi, and kimchi potato salad. Out of all the food items, I would say the hoisin mushroom baos were my favorite (but I also could be saying that because of the hoisin sauce). Both baos were very fluffy and tasted amazing nonetheless. I would recommend everything, except the mushroom kalbi... don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but compared to everything else we ordered, it was lacking. Lastly, the most surprising item we ordered was the spicy ahi (actually made of tomato). I was born and raised here on Oahu, and never in my life did I expect to actually enjoy eating vegan poke. Not going to lie, but it *almost* as comparable to the real thing. Overall, service was amazing! Our waiter and the bartenders were very sweet. Wild Orange is such a fun concept. My partner and I were on our date night and we were informed about this speakeasy by a friend who was also visiting the island. We were dropped off by our Lyft in front of a 24HR Fitness. We for sure thought we were in the wrong place. LOL At last after walking around the building for 10 minutes, we walked through a hallway in the 24hr Fitness to find a parking garage with a place called Hawaiian Brian's. We checked in at the bouncer desk and began to hunt for a vending machine. Lo and behold, we find the one! Tip: Bring a nickel... You'll need it for something ;) Don't be like us and scouring the island at local mom and pop shops asking to venmo them for a nickel in the tip jar and buying a small snack LOL Wild Orange is an Asian fusion speakeasy with a Japanese bar theme. It is entirely vegan with the exception of honey in some drinks. They played Japanese lo-fi beats with hip hop. We ordered 2 drinks: 1) Purple Dragon - This is a beautiful purple drink that tasted like ube and Calpico. 2) The Switch - This drink has lemongrass, citrus, rice vinegar, and a soda base. It is very interesting and refreshing. Wild Orange also gives you some complimentary Hurricane popcorn, a local snack in Hawaii. I'm extremely surprised that this place holds a 4.7 rating after the service our group received. The atmosphere looks cheaply decorated. The seating isn't ideal for groups of more than 4. They dont inform you ahead of time that only one consolidated check is provided and you can't split the payment. For a high tourism area you should inform your guests of this policy and any others. During our visit, I ordered a mocktail. I asked the waitress multiple questions about the four N.A. options offered. Once the drink arrived at the table I tried it and didn't like it. That flavors were too sour and overpowering. I was hoping for something more muted and smooth. After trying my friend's drinks, I didn't like their choices either, so I wasn't confident that the establishment could produce a beverage I'd enjoy. I told the waitress that I didn't like that drink and wanted to send it back. She questioned me twice why I didn't like the drink and I felt so uncomfortable and backed into a corner in front of my group of friends. A manager then comes over and continues the same attitude with "I just want to make sure we're on the same page here", but never once was apologetic, she acted offended that I didn't like it. She did ask if I wanted something else but I declined and didn't want to be there any longer after these encounters. When the bill came my drink was included. $10 for a mocktail which contained probably 1/2 a cup of liquid. The waitress argued with me when I asked why the charge stood on the bill. She said that since the drink was delivered to the table, I had to pay for it and that it was a policy of their establishment. If this is a policy, then why wouldn't you inform your guests earlier in the evening? Why was this never told to me until I found the discrepancy myself? I can only assume that since 20% auto-gratuity was included due to our party size, they didn't care what level of service was provided. The waitress proceeded to talk about our table as I watched the exchange unfold behind the bar and dirty looks at our group for the remainder of the evening. But that is because this place was something of Samurai Champloo come to life in the form of a bar and my inner manga anime geek most definitely came out during my visit! We were lucky enough to be seated right in front of the chefs/bartenders and he was super chill and fun to chat with. The decor was just amazing as they even had literal pages from the vagabond manga about Miyamoto Musashi taken out and epoxied as the bar table and there were super cool artworks in the form traditional Japanese block print ukyo-e with a modern touch which word done by one of the girls that work there, and love them so much that we ended up buying four of her prints. The music beat perfectly that was chill but also kept you grooving. Everything was Tastefully traditional with a new hip twist, very reminiscent of aforementioned Samurai Champloo to the point where they even had some shots named after said animes main characters and I had to try all three along with many other drinks there! Wow what a place. Getting inside was my only challenge and I won't spoil the surprise of how to get in, my only advice is to bring a nickel but even if you don't it's fine. A very cool vibe with very reasonably priced drinks for what you are getting. The drinks had quality ingredients and were prepared very well, just watching the preparation of the drinks was fascinating. In addition to this our bartender was very good at making recommendations of drinks (both on and off menu) based on tastes and what kind of drink we were desiring at any given moment. I was a little surprised to find an all vegan food menu to which then I realized that many of the drinks are made with vegan cream and other vegan ingredients. The beet poke was very good and the if I closed my eyes and ate some of the smaller pieces, it would be extremely hard for me to discern them from actual fish. This place is a gem just "hidden" off Kapiolani and a place I will most certainly be coming back to. read more

Wild Orange really is "all that." And it really is hidden. Good grief, is it hidden! Okay, so what is it? It's a hard-to-find craft-cocktail (and craft-food) speakeasy in Waikiki. You enter through a door hidden behind a jukebox machine, with a nickel (which can be procured from a not-hidden bar nearby.) Inside is dark, a large orange style tree, lots of other decor spanning many years, including probably 50 old gaming backdrops. Perhaps 12 seats at the bar, and maybe ten small tables. Not a large place. The drinks are fascinating and some are tasty. The food likewise. It is NOT all vegan, despite some of the reviews below; they have Poke made with actual fish, for example. It's been around for just over a year, but feels like it's been there forever. So... where is there exactly? Write this down. You're gonna need it. Find the 24 Hour Fitness near 1687 Kalauokalani Way. That's in a large industrial building. Walk or drive up the parking ramp to the second floor, parking. We walked and couldn't find any other pedestrian way up... and the parking attendants didn't know any other way either. Most of the way back is a bar/venue, "Brian's Social Club." It is not labelled on the street level at all, so you won't see it until you go to the second floor of the parking garage. Go in there. And down the hall. If you don't have a nickel, go to the bar on the right. They'll give you one. But you're better off bringing your own, because the line for THAT bar can be epic, due to entertainment. Opposite that bar in the hallway is another short hallway, with a jukebox. No signs of another bar. The jukebox will swing open if you unlock it with the nickel. Enjoy. read more

Wild Orange on Oahu totally rocks! It's got an awesome vibe and the music they play is dope. The place is decorated in such a cool and unique way that it's impossible not to love it. The gua bao themselves were made well, but the dish lacked acid & freshness. It needed cilantro or pickled shallot to balance it. Service - 3/5 The service was fine. Found out about this hidden gem on one of my many 3AM Google deep dives/scroll through tiktok sessions. This was my first time to a speakeasy and the experience was amazing. This place is reservations only so you better find that phone number to schedule a time that works for you. From the moment we walked in all bartenders were really friendly and personable. You can tell that they take care of everyone that walks through their doors. Wes was our bartender for the night and although he was busy he tried his absolute best to make sure we were ok and have genuine conversations with me and the friend that I was with. There are a lot of fun cocktails on the menu. I started of with the "like cracks" lemon peel cocktail and it was a little on the strong side but the flavor reminded me of getting some lemon peel at a crackseed store. They have an interesting assortment beers and sake as well. I also drank one of the Lucky Cat pale ales (from a Japanese line of beers and found it delicious. Wes was kind enough to show me the darker ales from the same company and explained that they had a little more flavor than what I was currently drinking.
