As someone who's been gluten free for many years, I've just learned to live without some of my old favorites. Finding Wild in Park Slope was the perfect end to a day spent exploring Brooklyn! I truly couldn't decide what to have - because I could have anything off the menu!! I settled on the Tuna Tartare appetizer and the Butternut Squash Ravioli and they were both delicious! I was excited to try Wild, especially because it's a Gluten free restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is very small and cramp. The night i went there, there was live music and all though it was a great vibe, it was really loud and they were tucked so far in the corner that you couldn't enjoy the view. I loved the music they sang but because the restaurant is so tiny I felt like it was literally the only thing you could hear. I had the calamari as an app and the mushroom pasta for the main. The calamari was okay; I would get the meatballs the next time if I ever go there again because I heard great things about them. The mushroom pasta was very bland. It just tasted like cream and nothing else. I added salt/pepper and parm to make it taste better. The service was okay but my waiter did forget my order and had to come back to confirm it. I rarely leave one-star reviews, but our experience at Wild was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. My husband and I stopped in for dinner after I had an excellent first visit just two days earlier (7/25). During that visit, our server was attentive, friendly, and took the time to enthusiastically describe the nightly specials. Unfortunately, this experience couldn't have been more different. Our server, Nico, was inattentive from the start. We had to wave him down just to order drinks. When it came time to order dinner, I asked him to tell me about the specials. Instead of describing them, he pointed at the wall with his pencil and said, "They're on the wall." I explained that I had dined there a few days earlier and the server had described each special, then asked if he could do the same. His response was, "They've been the same for a week and a half." At that point, my husband and I looked at each other and decided we didn't want to spend our evening in a restaurant where a simple question was treated as an inconvenience. We paid for our drinks, asked for our server's name (Nico), and left. Thankfully, my husband suggested we head to Sotto Voce on 7th Avenue instead. It turned out to be the best decision we made all night. The ambiance was warm, the service was exceptional, and the food was outstanding. We will absolutely be back there. Wild should be embarrassed that this is the level of hospitality they allow their guests to experience. One rude, dismissive server was enough to lose our business permanently. ***2 1/2 stars*** There's always some risk involved when you do absolutely no research beforehand and just pick a place instinctively based on vibes. The vibes WERE good, but...not much else was, unfortunately. I came here last night with my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality to grab some drinks and bites before the Nets game (which was a special level of atrocious though it did coincidentally feature the NBA debut of Gonzaga's own Drew Timme - congrats!). I always forget how many bar/restaurants are in Park Slope so it took us about 15 minutes to stumble across this one. I liked that it seemed quieter and the lighter colors inside were instinctively appealing. All of that WAS good, for the record. Our primary purpose was to get drinks, and they were very hit or miss. My first drink was the Trusty Sidekick, featuring bourbon, elderflower liquor and prosecco. Not good. It wasn't mixed at all (we speculated that that might actually have been intentional for optics purposes, but that's ridiculous - no drink should have to be stirred together by the drinker) and I don't think there was any bourbon in it. We side-eyed each other the minute we saw how clear the beverage is, which bourbon certainly isn't. It also had way too much simple syrup and I'm not a 21-year-old sorority initiate. So I'm not sure if this drink just flat out wasn't made properly or if it's badly designed but either way I'd steer clear. My second drink was way better - it was a Spicy Old Fashioned, which tasted like it might have had a bit of Fireball in it or something to that effect. That could have gone sideways easily but thankfully the bartender was pretty judicious with the pour in that regard at least. Good presentation as well. My chum wasn't crazy about her jalapeno margarita, and it's wild to me how often bars make this mistake of doubling down on the jalapeno - if you are already using jalapeno-infused tequila, there's no need to then also mull actual jalapenos in it. She's usually pretty good with her spice, but even this was over the line and she switched drinks. When both people have to pivot to something else? Not a great sign. The food was pretty rough as well. It's interesting to me now with the benefit of hindsight to see that this place is much more about the gluten-free cuisine than anything else. I don't know if that specifically ended up being an issue here or not, but what I did have just wasn't good. We ordered a margarita pie, which you can see from the attached looks (and tastes) a lot like an overly cheesed-up Celeste freezer pizza. I had one slice just to get some necessary carbs in but I would never get it again. Aside from the lackluster items provided, the service was decent. The bartender was attentive and available throughout our experience, and when my chum ordered some drinks off menu, he readily obliged. Very pleasant little bar area there, and comfortable. This area is positively teeming with high quality shizzle. It's unlikely we're making a repeat visit. read more

As a gluten free girlie I was really rooting for Wild. My wife took me here for a date night and I was pumped. Unfortunately, Wild is just okay. Nothing was inedible or actively bad. But there also wasn't anything memorable about it. If you're severely limited and need a 100% GF kitchen then yes you should still check it out. But it's far from the best dedicated gluten free restaurant I've tried. The decor and vibe are also a little odd? Kinda dated like they would have a live laugh love sign. The decor & ambiance are very inviting, but truthfully it missed on a few parts. When we walked in, the host did not greet us. She was busy speaking with a bar tender and while she looked directly at us, she continued with her conversation. We had to walk to the back of the bar just to be seated. The restaurant was empty except for a few seats at the bar and we asked if we could sit outdoors for happy hour. She looked at us and said, "bar only for happy hour" in a really condescending tone. We sit down and the happy hour was not a happy hour in my opinion. The prices were high for the area as we frequent quite a few spots in park slope for happy hour. Charming is right. I am not gluten-sensitive but my wife is, and this is a place I can recommend enthusiastically. Delicious Caesar salad, a very tasty white pizza, and a magnificent rigatoni carbonara. Everything flavorful and beautifully presented. We were too full for dessert but took a piece of lovely key lime pie to go. It's a friendly place and that's the result of having Eduardo and Janice in charge. The chicken parm was truly amazing but everything else fell very short. The calamari salad was barely dressed and the calamari was inedible. The tiramisu wasn't flavorful. We were upsold at every step of the way, which detracted from the experience and there was a 4% credit card fee that wasn't taken off when we paid cash until we addressed it. The credit card fee was also labeled as a "tax." We were also charged $5 to substitute regular cheese for vegan cheese on chicken parm and not told that would be an additional charge. There was very little cheese on there at all and that felt excessive. I was heading off the bus from an appointment to check an area and right outside my bus stop was a sign for its happy hour (bar only). I'm a sucker for a happy hour especially one with clams and oysters so I decided to go. It was relatively quiet with only two people at the bar. Then again, it was Tuesday around 3pm in Park Slope. As a person who likes happy hours primarily for the food deals, I think this place does a pretty good job at providing various options. There is the raw stuff like oysters and crab claws but also "hot food"/tapas like guacamole and chips and shishito peppers. Because I had plans after, I only did the clams and the oysters and it was pretty filling size wise. For those who like an afternoon pick me up, they had drink options. I had asked for a mock tail version and they accommodated me, which I was grateful for. They also serve pizza and other items but I had to skedaddle for another event.
