Best Gyro's, tzatziki & hummus! I called around searching for a platter of gyros to get for my husband's Greek themed birthday party at home but I wanted a place that also had homemade hummus. This was the ONLY place I could find that had truly homemade hummus...everything there was homemade! Not only was the hummus to die for, the gyros were tender, moist and delicious. They had great flavor and were perfectly seasoned. I'm personally not even a gyro fan but I LOVED these! Of course my husband, the true gyro fan, thought they were amazing! We picked up a 1/2 pan of gyros, which is about 2.5 lbs of meat, a few hours before our party. I put it in a crockpot at home on low with a little water in the bottom and it was warm and fresh when we were ready to eat a few hours later. All of our guests raved about the food! Met two colleagues for a quick dinner. The staff were welcoming and wildly helpful to answer questions as we ordered on the electronic kiosk! There are tables available to sit indoors and a couple small tables outside. They have bottled soft drinks for purchase but limited beverage options. The food is worth coming here for. I would drive out of my way to come here again for the quality of the food and the hospitality, which more than make up for anything lacking in a generic strip mall ambiance. The chicken kebab is incredible - so juicy and flavorful. The hummus is perfectly seasoned. Chicken and beef shawarma were both winners. Grape leaves were perfect and came in orders of a dozen! Even though I didn't find a single falafel in my chicken falafel wrap... I'm not even mad because the chicken shawarma was so good, and juicy and it was amazing! Definitely recommend the chicken shawarma. Maybe next time I'll try the falafel chicken wrap. read more

I've been past this place a bunch of times recently. I love good shawarma, but it's hard to find near me, so I made a mental note and added it to my list. While it's past take-out distance from me, it's a nice enough restaurant to eat in. Its no further away than my old favorite place (ruined under new ownership) as well, which is a good deal for me. We got a chicken shawarma plate and a kifta kebab plate. Food came out in order, with salad and hummus first followed shortly after by our main plates. It's counter service so you grab everything yourself. I really liked the dressing on the salad. Like a light and sweet balsamic, it cuts through the richness of the rest of the meal. Really nice hummus. Extra nutty flavor. You get some pita, too. It wasn't my favorite but it was soft and warm which is good enough. The mains came out but they initially forgot the sauce. When I asked for some they initially gave me tzatziki before getting it right the second time. The shawarma is really good! You can see the spit behind the counter so you know your getting the real deal, always a plus. Kifta was also excellent, and the rice is seasoned well. Tasty. Good portion on the plate as well, I took home leftovers and enjoyed them the next day. Cleanup is on you, and it's not convenient. I don't mind doing it typically. But I see this trend a lot now... one small garbage bin with the little plastic bucket on top for all of your stuff. Plates, silverware, plastic bussing trays, all supposed to go in this tiny thing? And it was already full. If this is the best you can do for a garbage you've got to keep it cleaner. It shouldn't be an awkward chore to simply throw out my trash. Two more quick gripes. First, the bathroom isn't in the best shape. The dining area is nice, clean and modern, they should give the bathroom a matching remodel. Two, chairs are kind of uncomfortable. We need some padding. I really liked the food here. I like a more varied shawarma plate but if I play with the menu I think I can find a satisfying solution. This is probably going to be my go-to shawarma place for now. That said, I'd really give this visit a 3.5 for the issues I mentioned. I'll round up for the flavors! read more

Pita W Shawarma did not disappoint! The service surpassed any expectations I had. Staff were personable and friendly. All were patiently answering questions and took time to explain different dishes. I was moderately surprised by the amount of food that comes with each order. The decor was simple and tables/chairs were clean & sturdy. The place felt open with the furniture spaced apart. There is limited seating despite the amount of space. I think there was a total of 6 tables. Most importantly, the food was carefully prepared and presented. Food - It was some of the best shawarma I've had, especially the beef. The person working told us that they make their beef shawarma in-house so we had to try it and it did not disappoint. We popped in for lunch and your meal also comes with a mango juice so overall the value of their lunch special is solid. I personally prefer a spicier red sauce when I eat Mediterranean, but theirs is on the tangier side (from what I've read this also aligns with authentic Mediterranean cuisine). I have been looking and waiting for good shawarma to come near me in Buffalo Grove and finally we have one! I've already been here 5 times in the last 2 weeks it's so good. The staff is very friendly, but most of all the food is amazing. Their shawarma (beef and chicken) off the spit is moist and so flavorful. They have a great lunch special for 13.99 and you can choose between a couple different options. Plenty of parking, we will surely be regulars here for a long time! read more

The food was incredible, well seasoned, it was warm but not hot which is fine with me. The falafel was moist and the hummus was well presented and creamy. I was delightfully shocked by the amount of food we got, one dish comes with an appetizer salad, hummus, and pitas. I got the chicken and beef meal which was spectacular. The service was great, they were friendly so no complaints there. It was fine for a little restaurant a homey feel with pleasent music (it reminded me of the music Disney world plays at night at their resorts). This restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood. They serve excellent Mediterranean food. It has more of a "to-go" vibe, but they have tables for seated meals. The shawarma wraps are very good - they taste great and don't fall apart in your hands like at other restaurants. The kabob plates are generous becuase they come with side salad, rice, and hummus. And the falafel is very authentic. Highly recommend for anyone looking for more authentic Mediterranean food. I do have two small complaints - There should be a small side with the chicken shawarma sandwich which costs $12. And the tahini sauce tasted a bit watered down. What a gem Pita W Shawarma is to the northwest suburbs, no more traveling to Chicago to get authentic tasty middle eastern food. We came in less than an hour before closing and were met with a warm welcome and genuine smiles. We ordered a beef shawarma wrap, a chicken shawarma wrap, and four falafels. The food came out quick, was hot and really delicious. The wraps are pressed on the grill so they have a nice crisp with each bite and hold their shape until the very last one. All I can say is wow. It's taken so long for anything to open in that location after Dunkin' moved and it was absolutely work the wait. Pita W Shawarma has the best Mediterranean food in Buffalo grove and I would even say in the surrounding towns as well. My portion was the best size it was big but not so big I feel sick and the flavor was something else. The pickles with the hummus and falafel is not a combination that can go wrong but they do it so well. I am looking forward to eating in the restaurant sometime as I have seen it from out side and it looks beautiful.
