Done - another one of my favorites bites the dust and list my business, and my recommendations based on the service and snotty attitude of the staff. I frequent this restaurant at least once a month, and have enthusiastically recommended it when friends visit. Based on the attitude, sneers, pointing, and out right obvious bias - will not return, nor will I recommend it. My daughter was in town and wanted to treat them to a nice dinner. I made reservations a week in advance- 6 pm. Upon arrival the snotty hostess, no hello, no hi, just "ok" this way to a table in the center of the room.. I politely asked if I could have a window seat.. got a "I'll check" and then a no, there's lots of reservations and that table is for a party of six. Hmmm ok, there were other tables but I let it go.. the dinner was subpar, cold, and not worth the $350 I paid.. I also was amused to see that one of the tables I asked to be seated at remaining empty until I was about to leave - then given to a part of two.. The hostess, Mr skinny jeans who kept smirking and nodding at us.. no big deal.. but I'm sure the rest of the staff and owners won't miss my business, or my recommendation. This place has a good happy hour but u gotta get there early enough and it's usually too hot if it's like in the middle of summer - it's located right next to the river in downtown, perfect ambience! Food was quite good. Drinks were a bit slow and not made exactly according to requests. We had a big group (10) and they sat as five across five. It was difficult to speak to everyone with this setup and awkward getting in and out of the long booth with the outside seats up against the bar. No specials available - always kind of a bummer when restaurants don't have something new to try. Overall, I just expected a bit more for the price. We needed a venue for an office get together for 50 people. They accommodated us on short notice and even moved other groups a bit so we could still have the date/time we wanted. They sent the menus to us in advance and allowed us to modify them and when it came time for the event, they let us in early. They were so professional, all the waitresses were very pleasant and welcoming. They timed the food well for our big group and everyone loved all of it - salmon, tri tip, chicken, pesto pasta. I have always loved the food at the Wild River and I've always had great experiences with the service but this last weekend the service was extremely slow. I had planned a reservation for a celebration with 20 guests well in advance working with Alex on the menu and details. Alex was exceptional at providing all the information, support and communication. Day of the luncheon we are seated and initially ordered drinks.. I was hosting only beer and wine for my guests. After waiting 20 minutes, I went to go check with the waiter, who was also doing everything he could to attend to our table and met with the general manager, who proceeded to be very dismissive and rude to me. He asked me how long I've been waiting and when I told him 20 minutes, his response was "It looks like it's one minute per drink, and that seems reasonable!" All I have to say is if it takes you one whole minute to pop a cap off a beer bottle or pour a glass of wine you have bigger issues!! This general manager is in the wrong business if that's how he's gonna communicate to his guests!! read more

Beautiful location right on the river. Service was excellent when we were there for lunch. I had the Citrus Salmon with Tabouleh salad. Although the salmon was cooked perfectly it lacked even a slight hint of seasoning. The tabouleh salad was a huge disappointment. Basically it was diced cucumber with some tomatoes. Serious lack of quinoa, parsley or flavor. The patio is the best spot to dine as I feel the inside looks and feels dingy, tired, dark and in needs a serious makeover. The inside used to feel special but not anymore. Makes me really hesitant to bring guests. read more

Will preface this with it's an amazing location and it's within walking distance of all kinds of downtown goodness. Parking can be a bear but dependent on when you go you can find a great spot by or near the courthouse. Let's talk drinks- there's a decent selection of drinks up for grabs, champagne menu isn't large but good for mimosas or quick drinks with your gals! Food- I didn't love the menu after all, as I thought I would! I opted for a healthier light entree prior to an event and it was light but not as I had hoped. Overall it was a good dining experience but the food, not sure I'll be back for that. read more

Host was as friendly as a cardboard box. He sat us at a table two feet from another full table, while the rest of the restaurant was pretty much empty. When I say "he sat us", he dropped the menus on the table and walked away. We ask another host if we could move to a table with a little more breathing room, and he said no problem. Our server never smiled and stopped by only once to see if we needed anything. We had to wave him down to get another round of drinks. The appetizers and entrees were all very good, but the crappy and unfriendly service took away any enjoyment of our dining experience. I can't see recommending this restaurant to anyone, which is disappointing because the quality of the food was 4+ stars. read more

I ordered the ribeye but it tasted like I was served flank. Zero marbling and I mean zero, and it didn't melt in my mouth like ribeye is supposed to. Very disappointed. The service and atmosphere were great. But my $52 ribeye was not it. read more

First let me preface how much I love the food at this restaurant as well as the location. This is the second year I went to her for mother's Day. Mind you brunch for my daughter, husband and is over $100. Last year we had an issue with a brunch, I emailed the restaurant and received a $40 gift card due to the issues. Since then we've had dinner there a few times and no issues. We went today for mother's Day with a 10:00 a.m. reservation. While being served our water the bus boy accidentally spilled the water all over the table and my husband, which is not an issue because accidents happen. Nonetheless when I did happen my husband asked a male employee, who we thought was a manager, for a towel. We received the initial parfaits and pastries and by 11:00 a.m. we still have not received our food so we chose to leave because we were hungry. My husband went and told that same male employee that gave him the towel that we were leaving because it was taking exceptionally long. Not only did he not offer to go check and find out what's going on with our food, he charged us for the drinks (which is fine because we did have them) and sent us on our way. Super disappointing that this is the second mother's Day in a row that this restaurant has failed with their very expensive brunch. read more

We made a reservation on the night of a broadway show at the Pioneer center across the street. We ordered at 5:55 and the food arrived at 7:00 pm. We were so disappointed with this level of timeliness, as we feel the restaurant should adequately prepare for crowds the night of the show. Our show started at 7:30 and we barely made it in for the start. I've always loved Wild River but am so sad to see this level of terrible planning on the part of the restaurant. Please excuse the lack of photos in this review! The girls and I met for happy hour on a Wednesday, and picked Wild River because their menu seemed to have a little bit of everything! I arrived about 10 minutes to 4:00, and was sat with water service and happy hour menu that I was able to peruse until the girls arrived. The main dining room was closed for a private event, but the River room was where all other customers were sat. It doesn't have quite the same ambiance as the main room, but is still nice nonetheless. Two of us had the house Pinot Grigio, and one had a margarita. I thought for the prices ($4 and $6), that the portions were above what I would have expected for happy hour (a pleasant surprise). For shareable apps, we chose the bruschetta, crab cakes, Thai wings, shrimp and grits, and the blackened blue (steak/polenta) yes, we were hungry! I only got photos of the shrimp/grits and blackened/blue, because we were having such a great time that I completely forgot to take pics. My favorite was the crab/salmon cakes (comes with 3, so perfect portions for us). The tomato caprese bruschetta was also delicious! The Thai wings were also very tasty (slightly sweet/slightly spicy). The shrimp and grits had a wonderful garlic flavor (texture wasn't my favorite, but I think it's just the dish and not the way it was prepared). I could have skipped the blackened blue. For one of the pricier items on the menu, I didn't think it was really worth it. We stayed almost three hours having an absolute blast, and will definitely be back soon! read more

Made reservation for 5 on a Tuesday night to celebrate a friends birthday. We got seated indoors near the bar as the main section was blocked off for a private party. There's indoor and outdoor dining available. Also, there's street parking on the neighboring streets. For 5, we did family style and ordered: - caprese bruschetta: 4/5 - good but nothing too special - crab & salmon cakes: 4/5 - slightly crunchy, has great mixture of both crab and salmon, sauce complimented really well - seared pork belly: 5/5 - super tasty and tender, highly recommend - glazed brussels sprouts: 5/5 - love the bits and pieces of the pork belly, very flavorful - crab & shrimp risotto: 3/5 - on the more mushy end, had a fishy after taste, not a fan - sautéed elk medallions: 5/5 - super tender, medium rare cooked perfectly - portobello meatloaf: 4/5 - surprisingly very good, didn't expect meatloaf to be so flavorful - the classic razz: 5/5 - strong and tasty - bread pudding: 5/5 - complimentary for bday Service was great - shout-out to our server Angela for recommending some great dishes for our first time here at Wild River Grille. Sitting by the river is really nice! Ordered the hummus appetizer, margarita, and prime rib sandwich. They were all okay, nothing too out of the ordinary for the prices. Unfortunately, there was hair in the prime rib sandwich (melted in with the cheese) and also more strands of hair on the plate. They offered us a free dessert, which was fine. We wanted to have our daughter's High School Valedictorian Reception someplace nice. We had no idea the Wild River Grille had three options available. A smaller room for about 20-25 (too small), a larger room that included a bar and dance floor for about 75-100 (too big), and a mid-size room made available through an arrangement with the Sierra Arts Gallery that holds about 45-50 (perfect for out event). Our Coordinator, Alex, was awesome but wasn't available the night of our event. But she met with us numerous times to get everything arranged. Even informing us we could switch out dinner options to personalize our menu. The night of our event, Reto took the reins and was equally as excellent helping us get everything we brought in set up and explained how the evening would go. And our servers, Chris and Justin, were super attentive. No one waited for a drink. The dedicated kitchen seemingly served all our guests dinners virtually all at the same time. And the food, oh my God, the food was excellent! If you are looking to host an event these rooms can accommodate, you would be foolish not to consider the Wild River Grille. Loved the food, service and ambiance of this place. They have a great happy hour that includes many appetizers and some yummy beverages. We've also enjoyed the roasted Brussels sprouts, (which my husband thought he hated til he tried these). Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4-6. We found the Wild River Grille and had a lovely time. Hot toddy's, "hot and nutty" and "wake me up before you cocoa"-all were exactly what we needed. Black bean soup, French onion soup, with a side of truffle fries to share-YUM! Staff (especially Tully) were friendly and attentive, atmosphere was cozy with just the right volume and warmth to the Christmas music playing in the background. In a grand old Riverside Hotel building on the banks of the mighty Truckee sits a 5 star experience to behold! We ordered drinks, beet salad and house special salad. The salads had been split so that all 4 of us had a plate. Wonderful service! I had the trout which was huge and delicious. Spouse had chef special of salmon on risotto cake with mango/citrus salsa. Best salmon-cooked perfectly. Friends ordered seafood appetizer and a braised beef dish. We all shared a cobbler and crème brûlée. One dessert was free due to birthday!
