We came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday at her request. It was the first time for our family to eat out at a restaurant as opposed to getting take-out since the pandemic restrictions were lifted. Wild River Grille handled everything perfectly! We sat outside and were able to bring our dog, parties were separated appropriately, and all servers wore masks. Our server was fabulous and I'm sorry I didn't get his name! Super attentive and careful. We ended up getting several different appetizers to share, including a couple orders of Classic Caesar Salads and Crab & Salmon Cakes, plus Fried Pickles, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Caprese Bruschetta, and Honey Glazed Wings. So much deliciousness! Took my grandchildren before going to see the Nutcracker. I ordered chicken piccata, and it tasted like chicken fried steak only without no gravy. Way too dry personally, I didn't care for it. This meal was killer! We enjoyed a night on the patio listening to live music as a part of Art Town. The service was amazing, and the food was spectacular. Although it was all delicious, if you've never had the short rib- I HIGHLY recommend it. The meat is melt in your mouth tender with an overwhelmingly savory flavor. Mother's Day Brunch was very good. The preset menu options allowed the kitchen to be quick with serving. The options were plenty for our group. Having the quick to table appetizer was great for getting our party settled and ready for breakfast. The entrees were good, not quite hot enough as they were serving so many people, still good and enjoyable for our group. I've had two group events at the Wild River Grille in the past year. The food is great, the staff are excellent to work with. The flexibility on picking a menu that works for all ages was easy. We chose a fixed lunch a year ago with 3 options, it was great. This recent event we chose the buffet; there were multiple options. Again, we were able to exchange some items to please our audience. What a great spot! My husband and I had spent the weekend in Tahoe for some hockey games and had an early flight the next morning, so came back to Reno for the night and decided to try this place instead of a restaurant at our hotel. Boy, am I glad we did! The food was excellent, especially the pork belly appetizer and the ribeye. My husband is on the Carnivore Diet, so he eats steaks almost every day, and he said their ribeye was cooked perfectly and was extremely tasty. I have reviewed this place before but haven't been here for a while because I moved up to Washington. It is a place that each time I always have to come back to because of the food and service. Came here for their happy hour, which they changed the menu that day. There are a lot of delicious goodies to try on it. There were four of us so we did some damage to that menu getting things to share and things we each wanted for ourselves to eat. Their beers and cocktails are on happy hour so it's a great time to try different things. We started off with some beer and then moved on to their cocktails. I tried their house margarita which wasn't my favorite something about it was a little aggressive for my taste. But their raspberry lemon drop was fantastic. Food wise we tried their Brussels sprouts, bruschetta, truffle fries, wings, crostini, salad, steak and, hummus. (We we're all very hungry and glutinous lol). The Brussels sprouts were really good they were dressed with balsamic and bacon and just good and light to eat. The fries were hot and crispy and you could taste the truffle oil. Wings were juicy and hot. The nice thing was they weren't overly hot that they would blow out your taste buds. You could feel the heat and still enjoy the flavor. The steak was perfectly cooked and complimented with the Parmesan risotto cake. Which was crunchy and gooey and just so tasty. I could be happy with just a plate of them. The hummus was the only thing that was a little disappointing. While the veggies and gloat bread were good the hummus kinda lacked flavor. Which was a little sad but with the amount of other food we had it was ok. Our server was awesome always there with refills of water and if we needed anything else. The only non happy hour thing we got was the philosopher which is similar to an old fashion. My friend got it and generously let everyone taste it. It was very good great flavor and a nice take on a Manhattan This remains one of my favorite places to go in Reno for food and drinks. Simply amazing. You know when you go to a place, spend $$$$ on a meal and it's disappointing? Well, this is not that place. Started off with a little bit of wine from the expansive wine list then went in to order our entrees. My wife had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, I chose the salmon. Unbelievable!!!! Within east walking distance from our hotel, and with several recommendations this was our choice for our only dinner in town during a short visit. We started with the grilled Brussel sprouts which were .... Amazing. Served with garlic and some kind of ham, it was a good start. The braised ribs normally come with rice but I asked for mashed potatoes and Pricilla, our waitress, was happy to oblige. It was the perfect combination. Ribs were very tender and the reduction that came with it was extraordinarily. Hats off to Pricilla for being upbeat, super friendly and very helpful. A credit to the restaurant. It's been about 6-7 years since I was last here and the main reason I seldom come is because they hardly have options for vegetarians, as many reviewers pointed out too. Last time I got the raviolis and this time- same thing. I love mushrooms but the sauce was incredibly rich and thick and made the overall dish mediocre. I did love the flavor of the brussel sprouts appetizer though. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. And while the outside seating looks nice, the interior could use a facelift. Maybe once they expand their menu with more vegetarian friendly options , I'll be coming back but otherwise not high on my list of places to eat or take people to. read more

Sadly the Grille has not lived up to expectation. Our group of 9 received poor service and attention. I was looking forward to the meatloaf dinner but when the meatloaf arrived it was burned on both sides covered up with gravy. Veggies were cold and I believe our meals stayed in the window for a bit. Our waiter had several busy tables but was slow to respond for water and drinks. Not only did we get poor service but we also were charged the 20% gratuity for large groups, a double whammy to the 8 others that experienced this with me. A replacement meal was offered, I declined. I've been here a number of times, but all before becoming a Yelper. We met some friends for a Saturday evening "grub club" so I once again have the opportuniTy to review. The patio was closed off as it's bloody cold outside and they had sat the group at a large table insidE. The place was bustling and somewhat loud. I did find it kind of hard to talk to and hear my table companions throughout the dinner. We were seated in the room with many other large groups, so I'm sure that's why it was kind of loud. The server had no problem with splitting our bills, as we gave her a heads up. She promptly greeted us and offered to grab us drinks. Service was friendly and efficient, even on a busy Saturday night. My wife and I shared the Ahi Tuna appetizer and the tuna looked and tasted fresh. The wonton chips were nice flavor and consistency. The cocktail "The Philosopher" hit the spoT as well. A good drink for the whiskey lover in your group. We shared the bread pudding and some port for dessert. The bread pudding was moist, sweet, and just so delicious! Probably my favorite part of the meal. On our way to see Wynton Marsalis, so of course we had to have dinner before. We walked in, on a Monday. The host asked us if we had reservations. No. Monday. Weird. We were lucky to get outdoor seating. We watched about 50 people turned away because they really were fully booked. The food and service is outstanding. It doesn't matter what you order off the menu (which changes seasonally). Just order anything, and you will go home with a full tummy, and an empty plate. read more

He was very upbeat and had great recommendations for food and drinks. We ordered the black bean and Avocado hummus with veggies for an appetizer and the Caesar salad with Salmon for the entree. The appetizer was fire. The pairing of the black bean and avocado hummus with vegetables was genius. The salmon was cooked to perfection but not seasoned as well as we thought it should but still overall great with the salad. I will give this place a 4/5. The food was memorable... I was hesitating ordering the meatloaf because it is one of my favorite dish (and I'm very picky) . It did not disappoint, I can still taste the mash potato with the gravy... my husband was happy with his ribeye/shrimp scampi and the seared scallops definitely recommend it . Shapiro, our waiter was awesome he made sure that we enjoyed our meal. And the live music just closed the deal!!! I have had this place in my bookmarks for what feels like forever and I finally have had the chance to eat here after receiving a $50 certificate from a white elephant Christmas party. It's actually my fiancé and I's 2 year anniversary and we wanted to try something different from our tradition at BJ's brewing house and we were definitely not disappointed. We wanted to actually sit outside but due to it being lunch time, the outside patio was pretty full. So we sat inside and was sat in the corner which was fine because it was nice to a little secluded from the crowd. We ordered their margarita and their Moscow mule , they were meh if I am being honest with you guys. $12 I'm not sure if their worth it but for the scene and the vibe , I'd say do it at least once. Their food on the other hand was seriously delicious. For an appetizer we did the Tuna Tartare which is just pretty much sushi nachos in a way. The dish was delicious and unlike the other restaurants that pretty much has the same dish, their sauce is put to the side and you can put as much sauce as you want on your tuna. Their chips for the Tartare was really good also and not too burned like you'll find in the other places oftenly. My fiancé ordered the shrimp tacos and I ordered the prime rib melt. Which we both were very impressed with these dishes. Keep in mind, this is only during the lunch hour and I can't imagine how their dinner menu is like , which I'm sure is just as good. I had the prime rib melt was cooked perfectly and their fries were the perfect crisp what felt like. The Au Jus was also not too overwhelming and was just the right amount of seasoning. I just have to say... I'm very impressed. My fiancé also really liked his shrimp tacos and said he thought it was better than Rubios in California ,which is hard for me to believe because I love Rubio's shrimp tacos. As you can tell from my whole review , I was really impressed with Wild River Grille and happy I had this place bookmarked and finally got the chance to try it . I do think everyone that lives in the Sparks/Reno area to try this place at least once since it's located riverside to the Truckee river and if you do get the chance to try sitting outside, to really enjoy everything apart of this restaurant. read more

I REALLY need to update my review. Looking at the dates and the comment in my last review, we have been coming here pretty regularly for 10 years. That alone should justify the "Yay! I'm a fan." rating. There are so many things they get right consistently. Here are my top ten (in no particular order): - Their patio (nuff said) - Their Happy Hour - amazing drinks, fabulous apps, reasonable prices - Their support of the arts in Reno - They do fish really really well - if they have a special fish - get it - Live music on the Patio in the summer - Nice wine selection - Really fresh veggies - most locally grown - Mushroom ravioli - Crab cakes - Friendly service All of this, and within walking distance from home. We landed an awesome babysitter tonight so we chose date night at Wild River. Open table makes it so easy to reserve a table, and we opted for the patio seating. Our weather is just so beautiful right now, we love sitting by the river and watching the foot traffic. Also the river is out of control right now, so it was fun to just observe. Korey was our server and she was great. We ordered a bottle of wine (Luigi Malbec) and enjoyed a leisurely dinner. I had a repeat meal (typical for me). The trout almondine is out of this world - I subbed the red potato mash and everything was perfect. There was a butter sauce surrounding everything and I loved it. My only recommendation is that the skin was on the trout and the trout was sitting on the potatoes, so it was harder than I would like to separate skin from fish. Regardless, I lived by meal and had a great date night. We also ordered the flourless chocolate torte and brought home leftovers for the kids. Successful date night. read more

First time at the restaurant, date night with wifey. We ordered a lot of food because we wanted to taste what they had to offer. The selection on the menu was good, a lot of different things for different appetites. For starters we ordered the Ahi Tuna with the fried wontons. That was done well and the tuna was fresh. The wontons were excellent. Then we each had an appetizer, she had the French Onion soup, I had the Wedge. The French Onion was good, served hot. The Wedge wasn't really a wedge IMO. Wedges are great because of the simplicity and consistency starting with they are made with iceberg lettuce not butter lettuce, its just not the same because of how the iceberg lettuce is formed as opposed to the butter lettuce. And the lettuce should be just above freezing on a chilled plate. In addition, the star of the wedge is the crumbled blue cheese, ice cold lettuce, and crispy bacon, not a gallon of dressing. I mean the salad was smothered. Then it was off to mains, she had the braised short ribs and I had the Sea and Land. The short ribs were good, potatoes cooked perfect and tasted great, and the carrots, raw..so yeah. The meal I had was unfortunately really bad. The meal camp with shrimp, not tiger prawns like the description on the menu. The base alfredo sauce was great on its own, but the additions of crumbled blue cheese, sweet sun dried tomatoes, and to top it off, drizzled with a balsamic vinegar was unpalatable, I couldn't eat it. The sauce savory flavor of the sauce was in total clash of the sweetness of the tomato's and drizzle, and the crumbled blue cheese just was too over powering. I recommend they eliminate the crumbled blue cheese, sun dried tomatoes, and the drizzle. Put some chopped parsley on top, keep the rest as is and call it great. The steak tips and shrimp were cooked well. So to the restaurant defense, the menu described the dishes exactly as they were served (except the tiger prawns), and had I read more thoroughly I would not have ordered the Wedge or the Land & Sea. And one other thing...two Old Fashions, made with Michters.. $44? That was a little over the top since a bottle of Michters goes for $40. For a $200 meal, I expected a little more. I'll be back though because you can't pass judgement on just one meal. BTW - Our servers were excellent, and friendly. read more

The stake , Ribeye, was chewy and my plate, Land and Sea was basically a fettuccine pasta dish with some small shrimp, (instead of jumbo shrimp) and small stake pieces, covered with heavy pasta sauce. Very good! My sister and I went before the show at the Pioneer Event Center, and we're very impressed. I got the Seafood Truffle Risotto and my sister got the Elk Medallions. We got a wedge salad and antipasto salad. Everything was pretty good, however the risotto had too many onions for my personal preference. Yum! I recently had a dinner party here with some friends and forgot how good this place was! I haven't visited since last year and was really happy with the experience. It's a nice spot if you're looking for dining that isn't too fancy but definitely more upscale, also the location is right next to the river so dining outside is a must when it isn't too cold out. My group was quite large but the service was great and our server was super patient and accommodating. The mushroom ravioli was has been my favorite dish so far and I highly recommend all their desserts. They have a very large drink menu as well and I really recommend trying the sangria. I'm definitely looking forward to revisiting and trying out more of the menu and it has become one of my favorite places in Reno for a date night. read more

Went here recently for my birthday. I had a fantastic experience! Chris was our server and he was a genuine and polite young man! I got the crab cake and the truffle mushroom ravioli and both were amazing! What made this place better was the amount of gluten-free accommodations on the menu. My uncle needs is gluten-intolerant, so Wild River did a great job accommodating for his restriction. And let's not forget just how beautiful it is dining outside right near the Truckee River!
