This restaurant was a last min Thai craving after the Pacific Crest marathon in SunRiver. My buddy recommended Wild Rose to me after I was expressing a want for a spicy dish. I always assess the initial quality of Thai food by the quality of their Som Tum. To my surprise and enjoyment, they offered two types is Some Tum: fresh and lightly fried. Both were excellent! This neat little hole in the wall place is amazing. The food is loaded with flavor and yet, not overwhelming. Everything I have tried thus far has been delicious and satisfying. They offer different levels of spiciness, and have always remained consistent with said level. The only thing that has always been a problem is the service. Although the food is served quickly and accurately, the wait staff seem preoccupied with other things and seem to vanish at times. I have eaten Thai food all over Thailand and SE Asia, in many large cities and throughout Oregon and I must say that the food at Wild Rose is more original than your standard 'American' thai food and delicious. The *spicy* factor seems to be getting milder in the several months we've been eating there, which is disappointing but I find a lot of American Thai restaurants doing the same. I really do love the food here so it is with some reluctance I can only give Wild Rose 3 stars. It's the *amount* of service that is substandard. Wild Rose is packed on any given day of the week, often at maximum capacity with only 2 servers to be seen and no bartender. They seat, take orders, make their own drinks for their tables AND bus their tables often. I've literally seen them running around for the entire duration of our many meals there. Because of this, we've rarely been asked if we need anything during our meal...drinks, more rice, etc...or even asked how the meal is. It is not because the servers don't care or are poor at their jobs... It is simply a basic problem of understaffing. Wild Rose....please get a bartender! The drinks are never made well and this would improve greatly if they had someone tending the bar. It would also ease the server responsibilities and customers would receive drinks faster and before their meal comes...which is always nice. The staff are always courteous and kind but they need more of them!! I would still recommend Wild Rose Thai...I would just get it 'to go'. read more

Very accommodating for my daughter with Celiac Disease. The staff were quick, polite, and knowledgeable. AND the food was excellent.

Eccletic setting with a mix of modern and vintage furnishings. Oodles of dried roses hanging from the rafters. An environment that both my husband and I appreciated. The servers seemed to be mostly young naturistas who soak up the great outdoors by day and work their tails off at night. Attentive, light hearted and extremely knowledgable about both the menu and the area. The food...EXQUISITE! We visited in the fall and I had an aromatic curry dish that included marvelous spices, pumpkin and red grapes. A flavor combination so delicious and unique...pure magic! Perfectly prepared rice. Wow, there are a lot of Thai restaurants in downtown Bend, OR but only one to eat at! This place is amazing and you feel like you are in Thailand once you step foot in the restaurant. It is not just Curry's and Pad Thai, you will have to try new and different foods but at the end of the meal you will be so happy you did. Great place to go with friends and just enjoy the night. My husband and I visited Bend for a week and asked locals everywhere where to go for the best food. Wild Rose was recommended multiple times. I looked at some reviews and I was hesitant to go because there were some unfortunate reviews, but we decided to go for it because we are foodies! My husband had what he called "the best fried rice ever" and I had a very basic dish, fried chicken over rice with a garlic sauce on the side. It was bland and the chicken was over-cooked. My husband's fried rice was excellent and I snuck more than a couple bites! The service was slow, but friendly when they did come to the table. There is a tacky little note on each table mentioning leaving after an hour and a half, and I probably would have been taken aback by this if I hadn't read a previous review about it. I understand where they're coming from, but really? Aside from this, once our meal was finished, they started removing everything from our table one piece at a time. A cup here, a bottle there. They even took the flowers from the table. I'm not sure if that is standard practice for them or if that's just what they do when they want you to leave. This place is the bomb. One of the best places to eat in Bend, just don't go when I like to go, because I hate waiting to get in. I've ate here at least 15-20 times, and the chow is always consistent. I've never had a bad meal, and the flavors are fantastic. The cocktails are pretty good, and the servers and owners are super friendly. A little gem that I just discovered, is that they have a small but solid selection of quality Riesling wines, which is the prime wine for spicy food. I can eat and drink this combo until I get sick and still want more. The chicken wings are the only wings I've had that rival Pok Pok wings, and they are served all day regardless of lunch or dinner menu. (All items are). I personally love the Hot Basil Pork, with an extra egg. It warms my chest and nose, and has phenomenal flavor. There used to be an off menu, menu, but they got so popular, they became standard fair. What a great place to have in Bend, and as far as I know, the most interesting flavor combos. read more

Don't expect to receive any type of service here. We waited about 45min to get seated (four different groups that got there after we did got seated before our table of four). Very disappointed in the service. As a local we get excited for a new location that provides something unique... but as the service declines, it's upsetting. We waited for a two top for an hour tonight, no warning of the kitchen closing by told a 20 minute wait. No problem but as we saw tables sat after us, we got discouraged. Very upsetting. And discouraging. As a single mom, I looked forward to our date night, only to be pushed off and let down... won't be returning. The food is great but the service is always rushed. They have a policy where you can't stay at a table for more than an hour and a half. Our server rushed our order, and dropped the check halfway through my meal. She did not offer a second drink, a dessert, and didn't ask if we wanted anything else before she printed the check and dropped boxes. I was offended. I had sat there maybe 30 minutes before the bill was paid but I wasn't close to being finished with my meal. Our server rushed us because of the policy in place, and the rushed service is why I will not bring my business to wild rose again. read more

We ate at Wild Rose two years back, and then almost weekly after moving to Bend in July 2017. But in the fall of 2017 things started going downhill. For one thing, it isn't possible to make substitutions, so if you don't eat meat or seafood then you have very limited choices. But more importantly the sanitation was really questionable, with plates looking like they had been handled by everyone in the kitchen before reaching your table. We haven't been back. read more

The Khoa Soi is a must try, we also tried another noodle dish that was better then a dish you would get at your average thai restaurant but did not compare to the Curry Khoa Soi. You have got to stop and try it next time you are in bend. I have no idea how this place receives such good reviews. We went last night and were very disappointed. We had an appy of some kind of pork lettuce wrap which was very mediocre - very salty and nothing that said Thai. We also ordered the most spicy thing on the menu (can't remember what it was called). What we got was some kind of rib meat that had very little taste at all. Thai, are you kidding me? It was closer to BBQ but would have failed miserably there too. It came with 'sticky rice' which came in a nice bamboo box, kind of cool, except the rice was a dried out hunk of something. We told the server that we were not satisfied - no changes to the bill, just 'oh I'm sorry you didn't like it' . Unusual Thai flavors but really delicious, hearty dishes served with fast friendly service. We had a few things to taste and sadly couldn't finish them all because we just don't eat that much. If you are maybe from Southern California then order it spicier than you think you will want it. I ordered a 3/5 and it was not spicy at all to me. I should have done a 4 or 4.5. Unbelievably good Thai food. Do - expect the best Thai food this side of Thailand (spoken from another cliched white dude who has traveled that region extensively). Everything down to the papaya salad, condiments, and sticky rice are to die for. Don't - expect gracious service to match. We went in to try one phenomenal signature dish and the owners/staff seemed a bit miffed that we didn't order more. We would have, but it was 95 degrees out and 3pm. First of all this place is gorgeous. Everywhere you look inside theres another detail to add to the atmosphere. They really care about their food here. One of those places that is a rare find and I'll miss back home knowing I can only get traditional thai food other places. I came here with my partner and 2 friends and each of us ordered 2 things and shared. Every dish was amazing and something I hadnt tried before. I highly recommend people come here with an open mind, not expecting pad thai or panang. This is Northern Thai food and every dish isnt something you'd find at your avg thai resturant with exception of familiar ingredients. Even though I ordered a vegetarian meal the first time I went there and they tried to poison me with chicken, I have gone back because I just love curry that much. Rounds 2 and 3 were ok, no chicken in my vegetarian meals. Last night I came in for round 4... Once again they tried to feed me chicken! This time the chicken came in my soup. I think the kitchen realized they had sent out the wrong order before we could even flag down staff because it was immediately replaced with something that was vegetarian. The curry is good, but I really wish they would make more of an effort not to give meat to a table that specifically ordered vegetarian food. Their track record with me is pretty bad at this point. I think I will be heading out to Thai Thai next time I need curry even though it is out of the way. read more

I am lost for words other than, I don't think I've ever had better food ANYWHERE EVER!!!! And I am pretty particular about quality cuisine! Absolutely phenomenal flavours and great service, nice ambiance and I am sooooo excited to go back! I actually can't see myself wanting to go anywhere else again! As we were walking out I heard a couple going on and on about how amazing the food was and I stopped and said "oh my god isn't this place out of this world" and the woman and man both said they've been to Thailand and this restaurant competes easily with any dish they had there! I had read some excellent reviews before going and thought that people were exaggerating but now I am the one raving madly and for good reason! I also read some terrible reviews and I'm thrilled to say none of the poor reviews even came close to being what we experienced! I can actually say I don't think I've ever had a better meal at ANY restaurant before and I'm middle aged!
