They really do have some delicious food.. the kabocha red curry is so tasty. I totally appreciate the plentiful gluten-free options as someone with celiac. The only thing that would make this place 5 stars is to bring the kid's meals back (we are a family of 5 and would come way more like before if there were better options for kiddos) & more attentive service from wait staff. Amazing meals always! You outta be into flavorful food - this isn't your fake mall food Thai so you have to try something culturally accurate. The spice range does vary (1-5 level) - I like mild spice and honestly the 3 level. It can either burn your mouth or feel like there is no spice. They say they measure everything each time, but the dishes do vary slightly. The restaurant is usually busy but you can make reservations or order to go! If you are used to Phad Thai I recommend the Curry Basil Noodle. read more

I thought I had tried authentic thai food in the past when I would go to restaurants and have chicken pad thai ... oh how I was wrong. I knew immediately that this was no ordinary thai restaurant when chicken pad thai was not on the menu and all the items on the menu were really hard to pronounce. Nevertheless, thanks to our super helpful waitress, I was able to identify what I wanted to have that evening and sure enough, the food was extremely delicious!! I had their Moo Gratiem which was this thin slice of pork stir fried in a super delicious garlic sauce. This came along with some white rice and a fried egg with some cilantro and scallions. To drink, I had their version of a Mango Margarita and boy was it delicious particularly on this hot summer night! My recommendation is not to be intimidated by the menu. Although most of the items have names in a different language, their descriptions are all in English and their staff is extremely friendly and very willing to help out! Service was exceptional, our waiter was Jay and he was really helpful knowing which dishes had certain ingredients (I have a lot of food allergies and there were a lot of options of dishes to eat here and the server offered to adjust certain dishes to exclude or replace some allergens where possible) and the food and drinks arrived within minutes of us ordering! My fiancé got the Khao Soi Curry and the Pressed for Thai'm drink. I got the green curry and Thai iced tea with coconut milk. Everything was bursting with flavor!! Do not waste your money on this place. We came with our family due to the high reviews, such a scam. Everything we ordered was disgusting, I kid you not. We ordered our food and it came out within a couple of minutes, which says that it has been standing around waiting, and not fresh for sure. Our Tom Kah soup tasted spoiled, our kids had stomach aches after words. They DO NOT have pad Thai which is why we came to a Thai restaurant. The atmosphere in the restaurant was unpleasant and dark with dead roses all over the ceiling (I get the wild rose in the name) but definitely made it feel creepy and uncomfortable as my children said. The service was ok but we went through 4 different servers during our 30 min stay in the restaurant. In other words no stars. They also charged us gratuity without us being aware. I was surprised; we were so excited to try the dishes here and had heard so many positive reviews about it and I hate writing bad reviews but the 3 dishes we tried were inedible. Tasteless...large portions, but not good. I always give places another try so we will try it again, but I honestly threw out all of the food we brought home. I think I will try it there and see if it is better in person. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants from Seattle to Portland and San Francisco and I am open to different Thai styles. I read everything about Wild Rose and their different style, but could not get my taste buds happy with their food...I am still pondering whether to try again... (tourist review) What's Good: Street Noodles was the best thing we had here. Flavorful chow fun noodles with well-cooked beef (your choice of protein). The Gai Tod Nam Pla (Chicken Wings) and Turmeric Clams were good dishes, but flavor was a little overpowering. Not sure if it was an off night, but needed a good amount of rice/carb to balance it out. The Som Tum (Papaya Salad) was a run of the mill item, but you can get the Som Tum Tod version which has crispy payaya. We should have opted for that, for a different spin. The Moo Gratiem (Pork Stir Fry over Rice) was good, as well. Overall, this is Northern Thai cuisine, where the specialities is not what you are used to at typical (Central) Thai places. Beef and Pork dishes are the ones to get. Khao Soi Curry, Grandfather's Tom Kha, and Larb Mueng are on our list to try. read more

Can I give this place 10 stars??? I walked in yesterday for lunch. It was busy but I had no wait. The customer service was superior. There was an elderly couple next to me that were regulars. At least four staff members came over to greet them on separate occasions and make conversation with them. If that's how you treat regulars, then I'm about to become one. Now let's talk about the food!!! Holy Thai deliciousness!!!!! I am shocked at how good it was. I found a $10 lunch special and had a Thai sunrise with it. Just WOW. With the rave reviews and other plaudits from locals, coupled with my obsessive quest to find the best Thai in the PNW, it was difficult for this place to live up to my expectations- but it absolutely did! The crispy rice salad, tom kha (grandpa's secret recipe of course), and street noodles were all delicious. Firstly I will say that the food is very good! The complaint we had as a group is that there is aN EXTREMELY rushed cattle herding feel to this place! We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and were made to stand on the sidewalk until our table was ready which feels very strange when you can see the bar with many empty seats inside which we would have much preferred to a 29 degree sidewalk!! Secondly, is there a such thing as service that is TOO FAST?? We ordered and literally had out food on the table in less that ten minutes. No one actually timed it but I can tell you the two people that had order drinks literally had not had time to taste them before the food showed up. Almost no time to even chat and socialize. We joked how fast it was and was told there was another reservation arriving in one hour. The restaurant was only about half full. Our check was set on the table about half way through our meal. It was obvious we were being invited not to linger. We were ushered out the exit door because they have the entrance door roped off. It's just a very strange experience to eat here. You almost feel unwelcome. Night order food for take out but probably would not eat in again. In closing the entire meal took 40 minutes from start to finish for four people. If this place offered a more relaxing atmosphere it would be five stars. read more

Was surprisingly delicious! I say surprising because, from the outside, and even at first glance on the inside, this place doesn't look like the most authentic Thai restaurant. The bar, decorations, and layout are certainly different from what I'm used to. However, after tasting the food, I have to testify that it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and juicy, and the larb was flavorful, light, and crunchy. The one thing I would skip next time is probably the Thai iced tea. Location: I will not give advice on the location because I am visiting Bend. But I will give my observations: It looks like a safe area, and parking seems moderately easy to find. The People: Very friendly staff. They actually made a special-custom plate for me since I told that I could not do spicy. Overall, one of the best experiences. The Drinks: - Water: Stay hydrated. The Food: Super delicious plates! The food tasted fresh and high quality. The Curry Basil Noodles are a must try. The Venue: It is in a great location. It is a very busy restaurant, so expect to wait in line, or try to make a reservation. But do not worry, it is worth the wait. Great place. Being an out of town visitor, I have always appreciated the great eats in Bend. I'm not a meat and potatoes kind of guy, and unlike many of my friends I prefer to try new dishes than same old favorites. I'm familiar with Thai food and the Wild Rose up levels the dishes to new levels. Flavors are familiar with more depth and complexity. Portions are generous, if you order family style each order may give 3-4 diners a good taste. The cocktail menu is inventive and the Gompers Gin drinks are a good pairing. Started off with the fried pork ribs, then had Grandfathers Tom Kha, followed by Larb Kua, Tumeric Clams, and Avocado with Prawns. Every dish was delicious. I'm glad the menu is extensive, it will take more than a few trips to try every thing on the menu. For now this is the best restaurant in Bend! read more

Solid food but warning: 2 hours wait seem normal here AND they don't even call you or text you (which I find fairly egregious..)

Honestly, the service here killed it for me. I would not be itching to come back here after the introduction. My friends and I showed up around 3-4PM on a Sunday, so it wasn't during any particular rush for them. The hostess (or whatever she is) standing outside brought major attitude with her. They don't post their menu outside like most restaurants do, so we asked for menus. The hostess person didn't greet us or say anything while we looking at the menus, so we assumed we could order with her. She let my friend get through her entire order before saying that she needed to order inside with a server. As I'm looking at the menu, I was interested in the crab fried rice, which is listed as "market price." Makes sense, so I ask the hostess if she knew what the price was for it today. In a very unnecessarily condescending tone, she goes "Well, I wouldn't know, but I'm sure if you ask your server they can tell you." I was taken aback by her tone and responded "Ok, well, sorry for asking, just thought you might happen to know." You know, since you work here. Girl, why are you coming for people completely unprovoked? She was totally uninterested in helping at all, and genuinely seemed annoyed by all of us and other walk-up customers. Former customer service person here to say if you don't like people, maybe don't be a hostess. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friends also found her standoffish and borderline rude. When I placed my order inside, I stood there awkwardly by yet another hostess stand (this one was empty). A few servers walked past me chatting amongst themselves, but none stopped to help even though I was clearly just waiting there. Finally I spoke up and said "Um, this is the spot to order, right?" Only then did I become visible, apparently. We took our food to go, which I'm grateful for, because if the takeout service alone is that poor during a slow time for them, I can only imagine the dine-in service. The food came out relatively fast. I ordered the YUM KHAO TOD which is the crumbled fried rice croquettes. It was filling for me but they definitely add a lot of "fluff" garnishes like a bed of lettuce, instead of the actual dish. The flavor of it was pretty good but I'd probably order something else if I went back in time, but then again, I'd go somewhere else with nicer people. read more

Have eaten here twice, the first time the food was mediocre at best. Gummy noodles and not a lot of flavor, but we were prepared to say we just didn't order the right things. The second time we had a much better food experience but the service is beyond terrible. We were first told that our reservation had a set amount of time - who does that?? Never experienced that before, very off-putting and ruined the enjoyment of the meal because we felt like we needed to hurry and finish on time. Asked for clean plates plates between ordering rounds of food (our first plates were full from spare rib bones) and were met with reluctance. Finally, no dessert menu. That was maybe not outright bad but strange for sure. Gave this place 2 chances as it's very popular but won't be back. read more

Excellent flavors, service and menu choices. I was here on a Wednesday night without a reservation, so my friend and I tumbled over to a nearby bar until our 45 minute wait time was up. Their appetizer pork ribs were just right--meaty, moist and flavorful with a perfect amount of sweet dipping sauce. The Tom Ya Gha was not quite as tomato broth based as I'm used to, but it had a bounty of clams, scallops, shrimp, mushrooms and flavor. Perhaps the food is pre-made to the extent of everything having some heat. Two stars deleted due to multiple frustrations with their on-line ordering site: The pick-up time provided at the beginning of the order process changes at the end of the ordering process - by ONE HOUR for our order. It took us about 10 minutes to enter our order. The on-line ordering process is not simple. There's no opportunity for entering special requests, like avoiding a particular ingredient. That required a phone call that took a long time to get answered, after which they were cordial about entering our request into the order. Ordering should not have to be a 2-step process. read more
