This is my new favorite restaurant in the Spokane area. All the food here is both delicious and fresh, made with seasonally based ingredients. The menu has several amazing vegan options not to mention a vegan chocolate macaron ice cream! The staff here are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The waiter I had was phenomenal in making some great suggestions too. I would recommend booking a reservation in advance as this place is definitely popular (for a good reason). Wow! Just wow! You know those experiences you sometimes have...those blow-you-away-amazing experiences of fantastic food and outstanding service? This is really, truly and completely a five star place. I found it at random on Yelp. We went in without a reservation and saw immediately that it's a popular restaurant and we would have to wait. I recommend having a reservation. We started to place a to-go order when a spot opened up at the bar and they offered it to us. The owner was so good to us. We asked about gluten free vegetarian options and were delighted to find almost the entire menu is gluten free and they have many vegetarian choices. The meal started with gluten free popovers with honey lavender butter. Someone, who didn't know we were gf, brought us regular/non-gf popovers initially and the owner immediately caught it and swapped them out for gluten free popovers and told our server we were gf. I was so impressed with how on top of everything he was. We ordered the Yukon Taquitos for our starting appetizer. Hubs said he could happily live off of them forever. Lol. If it tells you anything, someone ordered 40 of them to go while we were there. I ordered the Sweet Chili Glazed Tofu and hubs ordered the Black Bean Tempeh. My tofu was delicious. The tofu texture was really unique and almost steak-like. Loved every single bite. Hubs didn't favor the Black Bean Tempeh. I think the flavor profile just wasn't his cup of tea so now we know for next time. It was lacking flavor in general and what flavor was there was quite bitter. I can't recommend that dish. I also got an iced latte and hubs got a spicy sage lemonade. Both were very tasty. For dessert we ordered the Callebaut Chocolate Hazelnut Tart and the Clementine Cake. Both were gluten free. I feel like I don't have enough words to choose from. Fantastic. Amazing. Wonderful. Out of this world. The presentation on everything was gorgeous (see photos). They were nicely moist which isn't easy with gluten free. I love when I find a dessert that is made with quality ingredients and not over-sweetened. As I said, there aren't enough words for me to choose from to adequately convey what a great experience we had here for dinner. From start to finish, I couldn't be happier and I wouldn't change anything. Living in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have access to pretty much every kind of fantastic food. I've had many nice meals in the Pacific Northwest but nothing of this caliber. I can't rave about it enough. The owner was friendly and attentive. I watched the way he went where he was needed, helping his employees and elevating the customer service experience for his guests, all while looking completely calm and relaxed. You won't be disappointed here. I found out later in chatting with the owner that he has a friend with celiac so he's very aware and considerate of gluten free. They even created their own gluten free flour blend they use in-house. We will be back! My next order will include more Yukon Taquitos, the polenta fries, Palouse chickpea cakes, Palouse chickpea burger, JP's awesome, creme brûlée, and coconut cream layer cake. I can't wait!! read more

The best way to describe my experience here is-impeccable. The server was helpful, friendly, and funny, we had a great time interacting with him. The food was the kind of food you can tell the chefs know what they're doing: cooked with precision and experience, depth of flavors working complementary to every aspect on your plate. The area we were seated in didn't have many tables, so although we were close in proximity, it didn't feel too crowded, and it was overall a pleasant atmosphere. One word: WOW... I've been to some stellar restaurants in the past year, and Wild Sage is at or near the very top. The cocktails are amazing - wonderful selection and unique flavors for each! I enjoyed Huckleberry Bramble and Old Fashioned - wonderful! While waiting for apps, they brought bread (small warm puffed bites) with Lavender butter that was sent from heaven - it's that good... We shared the Yukon Taquitos app - wonderfully presented and tasted amazing! We split the Wild Sage salad - the presentation was so nice (even with split plates!) that I didn't want to cut into it... but the blend of huckleberry-balsamic dressing, goat cheese, and hazelnuts was worth it! On to the main course... the Ribeye Cap Steak was better than any steak I've had in ages, and we just went to Daniel's Broiler 2 weeks ago. Perfectly prepared and the marinade/flavor was out of this world. And don't even get me started on the Coconut Cream Layer Cake... The service was six star, food was five, portions five and the only blemish was the huckleberry mojito, I thought it was going to be great but why put berries and rum together? Mash the berries or just use juice and more simple syrup as a mojito so it's got the spicy sour and sweet of a typical mojito. One possible option would be to add more of the jalapeño that you had in your lemonade into a Mojito and that would be delicious. I came before the dinner rush and luckily avoided needing to make a reservation or wait in line. I sat in the bar and had great company from the bartender. He also made great cocktails. I ordered the filet mignon. While waiting, I munched on the complimentary popovers. Those are probably the highlight of this place and my meal there. The lavender honey was quite something. The filet mignon, on the other hand, was far from anything. I hate when restaurants use sauce for steak. It comes out of nowhere and you get no heads up that it's going to be that kind of steak. First time going to Wild Sage Bistro, and it did not disappoint. While the restaurant may not look like much from the outside, especially given its location, the inside is beautiful and inviting. I was a little nervous to be seated upstairs on a very hot day after a recent experience at another downtown restaurant where I was seated upstairs and felt like I was a pizza in their brick oven, but it was nice and cool at Wild Sage. We had two appetizers: the Yukon taquitos and the asparagus and salmon. I wish I had taken a picture of the "taquitos." I don't know why they are called that because they were NOT taquitos--I know we're in Spokane, but that's a taco folks. But they were delicious. I could have eaten a whole plate of them and would have been so happy. The asparagus wasn't anything to rave about--some was actually left uneaten at a table of 6, if that tells you anything. As for entrees, I had the scallops and other folks had the halibut, fettuccine Alfredo, and flank steak. The food is beautifully plated (as you can see in pictures) and was also delicious. We also had a few signature mixed drinks that went down too easily. Our server was patient and attentive, so that was also a positive. All in all, would definitely recommend if you are looking for an upscale dining experience in an unpretentious environment. We'll definitely go back! read more

After reading the reviews I decided I needed to make a reservation here. The service was good! Drinks: My husband really liked his dark & stormy that he ordered two! I had the JP's Awesome because I didn't feel like alcohol and I absolutely adored the drink. I love lemonades/limeades. The complimentary bread didn't do much for me. I understand it is gluten free and it is light- which is nice when you want to eat all their delicious food! My husband got the Burger and I did take a bite! It was delicious, the wagyu beef is just so superior and flavorful. My mom and I both got the special, which was Seared Scallops with vegetables/wild rice. It was delicious. The scallops were cooked well and the sauce was great. For dessert, I knew I had to try the creme brulee. It was very smooth and not overly sweet, I liked it. Overall we had a great experience here and I understand why it is so highly rated in the Spokane area! read more

Food was great!!! My husband and I shared the pear salad... delicious! I had the tofu plate. Great sweet chili sauce and veggies. It felt very healthy. My husband had the burger which he raved over. The homemade tomato sauce was amazing. My son had the Meyer lemon chicken. Very lemony. Tastes sweet like a Meyer lemon but it was more lemon flavored than expected. Coming to Spokane, my mission was to find the best food, and Wild Sage did not disappoint me. The presentation was classy. The salad I ordered looks like it came from another universe. Everything tasted fresh. We had lamb and Duck; they tasted terrific with bold solid flavors. This meal and dining experience was by far one of the best I've had in a long time. I wanted to go somewhere excellent for my birthday and remembered this gem. Being celiac, the gf options were abundant! The gf bread brought to the table was lovely and a perfect touch for gf dinners to feel included in the experience. I ordered the Scarlett Queen, a beautiful twist on the base of a cosmo. You could taste the fresh juice and craftsmanship in the cocktail. I had the pork belly appetizer that was crisp and tender, the kimchi... whew, delicious. I went with the Chef's Special, Almond Crusted Halibut. I believe I counted 4/5 different sauces with a treasure of fresh and perfectly dressed vegetables. I can not put into words how delicious this entree was. I was captivated, and for a birthday entree, it was a delicious treasure trove. I chose the coconut cake for dessert... so damn good. Thank you so much for a beautiful dinner. So impressed with the flavors here!!! We came for my birthday and my fiance and I both said " Why the heck haven't we been here sooner?!" I was so happy to find a ton of delicious vegetarian/vegan options for myself along with seafood and meat options so there's something for everyone! I have driven by so many times and have heard great things, but finally got a chance to try it and so happy I did. We had reservations, It was a Tuesday night at 5:45 and busy. They were also seating people upstairs. Great service, pretty good wine list and tasty cocktails according to my husband. I ordered the salmon which was very tasty surrounded by a group of veggies that each had a unique taste of their own. My friend had the duck and loved it. The rolls brought out were a puff pastry with butter and very light. The wait staff was around and knowledgeable every time that we needed a refill or had a question. In Spokane for business with a colleague and stopped in for dinner per the reviews...absolutely a must try spot. Sat at the bar, since reservations are tough last minute. Shout out to Alex the bartender...she took great care of us. I started with their HF Bean Old Fashioned - very good (A) - made with Redemption Rye and they use peach bitters, which was a nice twist. For starters we had the Yukon Tacquitos (B) that were tasty and the Polenta fries (A) which were unique and delicious. The spiced red pepper jelly gave a unique taste of sweet and savory. For dinner, I had the Snake River Flank Steak (A) - perfectly flavored and cooked medium; the chimichurri sauce was amazing and greatly accompanied the mashed potatoes. Lastly, I had their seasonal Spiced Apple bread pudding (A+). A must dessert for anyone who likes bread pudding (seasonal specialty however). We popped in here before a show downtown and boy did they deliver! Located a few blocks south of the Bing Crosby theater, this was an ideal spot to grab a quick drink and Ana appetizer! We came in at 6:35 for a 7 pm show and told our waiter of our situation. Drinks, appetizer, check and out the door by 6:56 - we'll played Wild Safe! For libations I had a smoke and mirrors, which was just the right amount spicy and had a very nice flavor. My better half had the Spokane 74 (I'll play on the French 74, if you didn't get it) and it too was lovely. The presentations were very nice, the flavors play nice together and it was definitely made by somebody who knew what they were doing. For an appetizer we shared tender line fondue. This was one of the favorites without an a long time! Nicely cooked pieces of beef tender line, a very nice Gorgonzola sauce to dip in, accompanied with roasted pears and parsnip chips along with blue cheese crumbles mixed in. It was like a Dance party in my mouth, but not the crappy one where everybody stands around, the one where everybody actually wants to be there and legitimately has a good time! We would honestly order that appetizer every time we come here. Aside from the excellent food and beverage, our server was seriously excellent. When we told him we need to be out of there quickly, there was no sense that he was bummed we wouldn't be ordering more, but rather this dude went to work! He made sure our drinks came out quickly, our food was out fast and he brought the bill to the table so we can get it done before we were done with our food. It was super nice to be able to make a reservation online. We arrived and was seated quickly. We were brought out bread puffs with a honey lavender butter. The butter was nice and sweet but I didn't pick up any lavender notes. The drinks were inconsistent, both were supposed to have simple syrup but the blackberry limeade did not have any sweet taste to it especially compared to the spicy sage lemonade. We ordered the duck and the chicken and both plates were absolutely beautiful and the cook was perfect. Where it went downhill for me was with the duck they had hot food with cold food on top(hot meat, potatoes and veggies then had cold greens, tangerines and beets.) in the middle you had lukewarm parts that were not appetizing. There were two sauces with the duck one was the red one and was mild in flavor and then the other sauce was extremely sweet and mostly what I tasted was honey. The honey sauce completely overpowered the duck and I could barely taste any seasoning with the sauce. When I ate the duck without the sauce it was nicely seasoned. The honey sauce was just too strong and too much for me. The chicken dish I tried had wonderful components but the sauces for me were just very overwhelming. Maybe I ate too much on a bite but it was over the top. Then there was the cake. It was a lovely cake but the sauce which was lilikoi I believe which is Hawaiian passion fruit. That sauce was nice on the passion fruit taste but really zinged with a sour bit to me, I just ate as little of the sauce as possible. I am giving it an average review because it was beautiful and the staff was wonderful but the food wasn't special for the price tag and the sauces were too much for me. We were really impressed with Spokane's gluten free game when we visited, it is certainly stronger than I would have expected! Our dinner here at Wild Sage helped to leave that positive impression. We met friends here for dinner with a reservation and were taken to a nice table upstairs overlooking the main dining room. The atmosphere has a nice intimate feel to it with warm colors, romantic lighting, and natural brick accent walls. Our server was very helpful in explaining their history behind their extensive gf menu and the top recommended dishes. They have several starters, salads and a soup, a large selection of mains, and then practically an entire menu of desserts. We shared the wild sage salad which was delicious with goat cheese and a berry vinaigrette. I enjoyed the flavorful coconut curry and prawns and the husband had the lemon chicken which he liked. We finished dinner with their coconut cake which was excellent and you couldn't even tell it was gf. It's a great bistro spot with excellent service and ambiance and an impressive offering of gf options with a kitchen that is allergy savvy. What more can you ask for? read more

Except it's sad, Spokane seems to be suffering from fentanyl epidemic, restaurant had frosted glass to 8+ feet deftly keeping you from seeing the homeless outside two of which were curled up sleeping a few yards from their door. read more
