I walked over from my hotel to experience Wild Salsa. It's a generally popular place, and the screens were tuned into the NFL Playoffs which is what I was looking for. I had the chicken enchiladas, Sangria and of course chips and their specialty semi-spicy salsa verde. I also ordered a side of guacamole. From first to worst, in terms of taste: The salsa verde, the chips, the enchiladas, the guacamole and the Sangria. Nothing was bad, but overall Wild Salsa is wildly mediocre. The flavors were indistinct generally except for the salsa verde (among the best I've tasted), and the enchiladas arrived lukewarm (I was super hungry so I didn't send them back). The Sangria...well let's say I'd have been better off with Wild Irish Rose; watery and no kick whatsoever. This is a cool place to watch a game and the ambience is that of a hang-out spot. I could have done without the screaming kids though (side note: parents, I value family and understand wanting to take the family out, but if your rug rats are going to shriek and holler, please consider a babysitter or a Door Dash family night in. This was the second time I tried Wild Salsa and it's a great little getaway. I didn't care for the salsa trio- we tried the habanero sauce, molcajete and roasted pepper. They give you a green salsa & chips for free and that was good enough. The habanero is a smooth sauce, no texture. The molcajete was good, chunky and smoky. The roasted pepper was okay, if you like sweet, you'd like this kind. Lots of vegetarian choices too so that's good. I am actually a super fan of the mushroom street taco, had that twice! The fish taco was a little fishy, even after a lime squeeze so I won't do that again. The chicken tinga taco was okay, shredded chicken in lots of tinga sauce. The chicken tinga taquitos are great all on their own! Five tortillas filled with the meat and deep fried- yes, so bad but oh so good. I especially loved the salad with goat cheese that decorated the top. It's definitely big enough to share. The staff are all friendly and attentive. We had our water, chips & salsa refilled often. The decor is just beautiful, the wood carved doors you enter through welcome you into the warmly decorated restaurant. If it's a nice day, ask to sit by the windows which they prop open. Another great Mexican spot in downtown Dallas! Parking may be hard to find right by the restaurant but with all the scooters you can find these days thats not such a bad thing. The menu is average pricing for the area and they have a decent happy hour menu as well. Happy hour is EVERYDAY 3-7pm and then on Friday & Saturday from 9pm-close. I love a spot with happy hour everyday. I went for the Wild Rita - with their roasted jalapeño and pineapple infused tequila. It was just the right amount of sweet and the jalapeño was subtle but you could still taste it. Complimentary chips and salsa is a must at any classic Mexican restaurant and Wild Salsa did not disappoint. I also tried one of the happy hour tacos. It was full of flavor and a great quick snack. I came here with a couple friends in the hopes of finding some good Mexican food in downtown Dallas. My friends had been to Wild Salsa before for lunch and recommended that we try it. We came in late on a Monday night without a reservation and we we're told that we would have to wait 10 to 15 minutes. We were perfectly happy waiting, but when we looked, it seemed like there were plenty of empty tables at which they could've seated us. Perhaps they were just slightly understaffed for the larger crowd that is in town. When we were finally seated, we were brought some complementary chips and salsa verde, both of which were delicious. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the Wild Rita to drink, a roasted pineapple & jalapeño infused tequila margarita, and an order of their grilled marinated Angus beef fajitas to eat. The drink was actually very tasty, although I did not feel like it was very strong. The fajitas plate was large and came with side dishes of rice, beans, and tortillas, as well as some pico de gallo, salsa verde, and sour cream. The dish came with quite a few pieces of beef served over top of grilled peppers, onions, and potatoes. , while I really enjoyed onions, peppers, and potatoes, I found that the meat slightly unsatisfying. While in general I thought that the food was good, the service was definitely sub-par. Before being seated, we were waiting in their tiny entrance way. Since there were a few of us waiting, it was a little bit difficult to pass through. So, when one of the hostesses wanted to get through, she put her hand on my back and essentially pushed me out of the way. While I understand her wanting to get through a crowed walkway, she definitely could have done it in a more polite way. Also, getting our chips refilled was a real hassle. We had to ask multiple people for refills and even then it took some time. All in all, I think that Wild Salsa is an averagely decent Mexican restaurant. And, from the sound of it, seems like one of your better options if you are looking for Mexican in the downtown Dallas area. First let me start by saying that the food is absolutely delicious. There is no problem with the quality of food, once you finally receive it. I am giving this place one star because there is no option for none or negative stars. I do not know who is training the hostess to predict wait times but either they need to start a remedial training program or find someone who didn't attend a public school. When a group of eight arrives for supper at 7:30 PM one should expect a lengthy wait. That's normal. However, when that same group shows up and is told that the wait will be 20 minutes then you would believe that maybe 30 or 40 minutes. You certainly would not expect that 20 minutes to turn into 2 hours. We would have walked away except every time we asked about our place on the list, we would be told that our table is almost ready. This is how they make sure you stay around, I guess. Finally, after a two hour wait to be seated, it literally took 27 minutes before a server ever came to the table (I was timing it). We placed our drink orders (which were wrong when they showed up) and it took so long to get them that we had to get up and go ask a buss boy for help. [We should have already walked out but by the time you have invested this much time into something you want to see it through]. So now we have been at the table for approximately 40 minutes and they finally came back to take our food order (which was also wrong when it showed up but absolutely delicious when it was straightened out). One thing they don't tell you is that everything on the menu is À la carte. Who knew a Tex Mex place doesn't automatically add rice and beans with an enchilada meal? After we finally were seated and finally completed eating our meal, then came the check, which was, you guessed it, wrong. Besides the fact that they have the nerve to charge $17 for two enchiladas, the drink orders were mixed up on the bills and even had phantom drinks added. After it was all said and done, we first added our name to the wait list at 7:12 PM. We walked out of the restaurant at 10:34 in an extremely awful mood still wondering if we even paid the correct amount. In short (too late) I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are into punishing yourself or want to set up a prank for that special person. Like I said to begin with, with the exception of the actual food, this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. This place felt like a modern twist on Mexican food (Tex-Mex). The food was spot on and the margarita I got was delightful. It was a habanero margarita which I was apprehensive about at first but the flavors complimented each other very well. This went very nicely with the misleading green salsa (it was quite spicy even to this veteran of hot food). My single complaint is that when we walked, in the man standing at the host podium, whom I can only assume was the manager judging by his clothes and mannerisms, came off abrupt and pretentious. We were asked if we had a reservation the second we walked in. When we told him that we did not have one he seemed irritated and scurried away without saying anything. But it was so yummy! The chips and salsa came out. Green salsa, pretty spicy, and so good. I also ordered the Wild Queso. It is queso blanco with chorizo, and topped with guacamole and sour cream.
