Flew into town today for the first time. The restaurant is one corner away from my hotel. The restaurant is very cozy. I really loved the fire pit. My boyfriend and I came in around 11-12pmish so it was quite. Our server was great and even helped us when we asked her for near by suggestions. The food was Meh. We both had 3 tacos (2steak 1 barbacoa). The steak was great tender and flavorful. As for the barbacoa had ZERO flavor. I had to drench it in lime to get any sort of flavor. The rice was good. My BF got the beans he said it tasted better once he mixed it with the rice. We were under the impression the rice and beans was included with the three tacos. To we were surprised that was never mentioned to be at an additional cost. Over all we had a good experience. Maybe the wrong night? The service was horrible- I mean horrible. I was looking forward to a spicy evening of quality tex-mex food and ended up waiting mostly for someone to take our order or bring us our drinks that were on the bar waiting to be brought to the table and then, finally, my favorite part of the dining experience- waiting for the check. I enjoyed the light, thin chips and queso but I was ready to leave after we waited- the two of us- for over an hour for two mini tacos a piece to be delivered to our table. IN fact, we order drinks directly from the bar, paid for them, and brought them back to the table. Tried this place with a friend today and I was really impressed! I am not a huge fan of Mexican, or anything spicy really, so this review should be surprising! First things first, the customer service was fantastic from start to finish. For a place that isn't super fancy, I was waited on hand and foot. We ordered the sesame seed guacamole and while I'm not a huge fan of guacamole, it was super good! Same with their salsa verde, pretty delicious. I had the vegetable enchiladas verde for dinner and it was wonderful! It was also beautifully presented. I would definitely recommend. My friend had the ensalada tropica, which I tasted and wow! Food is pretty good. Prices are quite good for the quality of food. Some pretty unique but good margaritas. But the restaurant is not well run. This is the kind of place that can be only 70% full on a Saturday and still feel service-wise like you're in the busiest part of Texas-OU weekend. And valet is $7, with no good alternatives. Maybe that's normal in the Main Street area, but it shouldn't be. The rest of Dallas either has ample parking or complimentary valet. read more

I must be really lucky on my timing when visiting restaurants across the city (& that's pretty shocking given how other areas of my life have gone, but that's a different story). Went here during happy hour in the middle of the week and sat at the bar. The place wasn't bustling by any stretch of the imagination; however, there were a few friendly patrons at the bar with us. The service was very good and conscious of our water and chip refills. Started off with a Wild Rita which tasted more like juice than a cocktail; the alcohol was imperceptible, but it did come with a complementary bowl of queso (Dallas' Margarita Mile) that was one of the best I've had in awhile! Had 3 tacos from their happy hour menu: chicken tinga (strange flavor throughout, least favorite), al pastor (relished every moment, favorite), and shrimp (didn't hold back on the amount of shrimp and simply delicious, close 2nd place). The pricing off the regular menu seemed overvalued: the Wild Rita was literally half the bill and I'm including the tacos my friend got on the same check. Yup Yelp, "Meh. I've experienced better." Seriously, this place is considered good by people why? Crummy service, poor food, uncomfortable surroundings, just generally a dramatically less than great experience. It's surprising to me that in a city like Dallas a second-rate Mexican establishment that caters to bottom of the barrel frat boys and sorority sisters can survive. I guess I just answered my own question there. If you're a bottom of the barrel frat boy or sorority sister, this place is for you. No shortage of them in these parts. If you don't fit into that demographic, or you have a modicum of discernment when it comes to Mexican food, steer well clear of it. Meh is really not strong enough. Will not be returning. Tried this place out because I hadn't had lunch yet and it was 3:30pm and this place was right across the street from my hotel. Clearly tequila is their thing as they have over 100 brands of it. I stuck to the food since I'm working today. The chips were warm and crunchy and the salsa was fabulous with lots of flavor and good heat. I went with the waiter's suggestion of chicken enchiladas since the Chile relanos I wanted aren't available until after 5pm. Good pick and better than most I've had lately. The guacamole was out of this world with a bit of smoky flavor but not overwhelming. I'd definitely get it again but will likely go for the tacos which seem to be what everyone else was eating. They have about a dozen different types of tacos so I'll be back on my next trip to Dallas to give them a try. read more

I loved the food! However I'm giving 4 stars because the server was not good at all. I literally had to ask for everything. I ordered the salsa trio and she didn't bring any more chips even though I was out. I paid $3 for an ice tea that I had to ask for a refill even though I was out. My water sat there empty until I ASKED for her to fill it up. I'm sorry but when it's a Mexican restaurant and the food is spicy, EMPTY drinks that you have to flag down the waiter to refill isn't good. And I don't know how I'm supposed to eat the salsa with no chips. I did love the chicken enchiladas and the decor is very cute and the parking on the street was easy to find. Overall I'll be back. But $14 a plate for Mexican food, I'll hope to get better service. read more

Wild Salsa has delicious authentic Mexican food and an amazing too shelf margarita that has a purple hue from the port wine that gets added. The chicken milanesa and the sonoran enchiladas as delicious! We enjoyed our meal on the outside patio which has a great view of a downtown Dallas park. The server made regular stops at the table to make sure were satisfied, and the manager came by at one point to ask how we were doing. I felt very pampered at Wild Salsa. read more

Stopped in here before hitting a concert at the nearby Majestic Theater on a Saturday afternoon/evening. The place was crowded as several downtown events were going on but we sat at the bar with no wait. A very large bar with a couple dozen chairs surrounding and TVs in line of sight all around. Bartenders were very busy yet attentive to our needs and brought our drinks right away. They have about 4 beers on tap (Negro Modelo, Dos Equis, Santos, and a seasonal) and then large selection of domestic and specialty bottled. Would prefer a few more on tap especially considering there are several new local breweries nearby. Frozen margaritas with Sangria swirl are particularly good. We ordered Chips and Queso as an appetizer. The Queso is a white cheese queso which is very, very good with chiles on the side to add. Our entrees were brought out promptly and served hot. Wife had the Chicken Milanesa which was absolutely delicious. I had the 3 Tacos served with rice and beans and they were very good as well. Street taco style. Would have loved flan for dessert but they don't offer it on the menu. We've heard the Tres Leches cake is good, but we did not order it Atmosphere is very well appointed with Spanish style decor and an open air-type wrap-around patio with a fire pit for chilly evenings. Highly recommend this place for good Mexican food. The Majestic theater is just 2 blocks away and the DART St. Paul station only 4 blocks away. read more

Friendly staff good food decent atmosphere. I was seated at the bar and ordered four tacorillas of various types. The bartender was friendly and answered my questions on the menu. I got chips and green salsa (a nice warm spicy and great flavor) but only when I requested it. The tacos were corn and about 4" acres it's but each had a good distinct flavor. For the second time in my life, I tried tongue and was again a bit taken aback by it but I got through. A table before me left due to long wait times so think ahead if you have a group but the bartenders were great if only one or two of you. read more

Food is exceptional. Had the corn and chicken quesadillas (sp?) and the corn soup. Both were delicious, tasty, well spiced. Tasted like good quality meat. The salsa was very good too. Cool decor and vibe, and I like that you can hear the folks you're talking to. Taking off stars for service. It took forever to place our order, the waitress seemed unaware we were there most of the night, and it took another forever to bring the bill and then in turn to process the credit card. This despite going on a Tuesday night when it wasn't particularly busy. Great new spot though that I'll be coming back to and eyeing a different waiter/waitress. 5 stars for the food, 2 for the service, so i rounded up to 4 and am giving them the benefit of the doubt. We were a prebooked conference group of 40 or so, and they seemed really unprepared to handle us; there weren't enough servers for our group, and the bartender seemed to be ignoring us in favor of the folks on the other side of the bar. Disappointing. I went during my lunch break (5-6pm). So they sit me down at a table that still had water marks from the previous person's drinks as well as a few crumbs. So I wait for someone to come so I can get something to clean it. 5 minutes later, someone brings chips and salsa (and puts it right in the wet spot). Now there's no drink the quench the heat of the salsa so I sit there another 5 min when someone brings by water and leaves quickly again. 5 min later, I leave because it sure seems like no one is going to actually take my order. I've been to Wild Salsa a few times now and feel as though I can finally review it. The double tall drinks are strong, and the chicken caesar salad is delicious. It is composed of two grilled romaine hearts with chicken placed on top. The greens were fresh, and the dressing was not too heavy (cream-based caesar dressing is served here). Their salsa verde which comes with chips once you are seated is okay. It's like eating lime juice on a chip, which to me is weird but I can see how folks who like limey stuff would be pleased. Their queso blanco is runny, but contains slices of pickled jalapenos to give you something to dig around for. The chips are fresh enough, and not too thick. The pork three ways dish is huge and is worth the price for the amount of pork on the plate (around $25). The ambiance in the restaurant is fine - most of their tables are high tops though, and I'm not a fan of that so much. The high top chairs aren't particularly comfortable either, so I always leave with a sore back, which isn't really the feeling you want your customers to have after leaving your restaurant. If you've got a strong back though, and want to eat your mexican food in a slightly fancier environment, this is probably the restaurant for you (Downtown proper at least). If you're willing to give up some of the hoity-toitiness, waddle over to Sabor and get an amazingly delicious giant chicken burrito for $5 (and way cheaper drinks almost all the time). read more

Day of the Dead decor is fantastic. I've had better Tex-Mex, but this certainly wasn't the worst. Sort of a touristy downtown thing, but it's in walking distance from my apartment and I wanted to show my visiting friend the Eye at the Joule. Got a taco plate. Duh. What else? Came in on a Friday night with high hopes for this place. The experience was lackluster, the food was pretty good but the margaritas were great. We walked in at the same time as 2 other parties and there was no host/ess for quite some time. There were some people already there before us and they decided to leave while telling us they didn't know what was going on. Not exactly the best first impression. Luckily a server, Kolby, was on the ball and noticed us looking around aimlessly. She jumped right on it and got everybody situated in short order. I started to get the impression that they were understaffed/poorly managed because the place wasn't exactly full but it felt like it was the busiest they had ever been. After we were seated, we were promptly given some of the best salsa and chips I've had in a while. Wild Salsa indeed. I did have to flag down a server to get some napkins and silverware, though. We ordered a pitcher of the house margarita and were told it might be a while because they had run out of clean pitchers/glasses, further confirming my suspicions of not-so-great management. Luckily Kolby was able to get us one and I'm glad she did because like I said, the margaritas were great and a good price too! $25 for a generous pitcher! I ordered 3 tacos (2 veg, 1 shrimp) and she ordered the Sonoran Enchiladas. The food came out quickly and I'm glad it did or I would have OD'd on that salsa. The shrimp taco was A+ and you get quite a lot of shrimp for the price. The veggie tacos on the other hand were not too great. They were pretty soggy and bland. I should've just done 3 shrimp tacos. The enchiladas were fantastic. Also A+. Sidenote: it isn't very obvious that the entrees don't come with beans and rice which is somewhat unexpected for your average TexMex place though the price isn't bad ($1 each). All in all, the food was pretty good and the margaritas were great. I hope that the other issues were just a fluke. We plan on going back to give Wild Salsa another shot soon. Stopped in this place last night after a concert for a late night drink and snack, and my wife and I had a great time! I believe my server's name was Brian ( hope I got that right!). He was friendly and helpful and offered thoughts and tips on items on the menu. I asked about drafts and he walked through them and recommended a local Mexican lager, done. Food was delicious, I had a three-taco combo, I think it was $9, and you can mix and match them. Wifey had a massive tamale that was unique and made in plantain leaves instead of the corn husk. She also had a strawberry habanero margarita that was delicious. We live in McKinney and took the DART like dweebs downtown for a concert, so we couldn't stay too late and had to catch our train back, otherwise I would have stayed and sucked down about ten more beers. You can sit at the nice full bar with conversational bartenders, the nice patio and people watch, or in the main dinning area. After all life is about choices right. I have worked down the street from Wild Salsa for two years and have once. I decided to give it another try today when our Vice President took a group of us out for lunch. It was a bad experience for several reasons: 1. Service was bad and slow and seemed like our waiter was annoyed with us. Drinks and salsa were rarely refilled and certainly not without asking for it. 2. We ordered queso and it didn't come out and when we asked it was brought out very cold and like congealed. We returned it and were brought another one but it was also not very warm. 3. Food was mediocre at best - quesadillas were soggy. 4. *THIS IS FOUL* As we were leaving we were sliding out of our corner booth and on the edge behind the seat were several mouse droppings. POOP. I didn't want to believe it, but I googled to confirm what I saw and it was definitely mouse poop. I am horrified that I actually saw poop in a restaurant. I went here for lunch with my boyfriend on a Wednesday and it wasn't very crowded, but that's what I was hoping for because of how crazy some of the nearby restaurants can get during lunch hour. Super fast service and polite staff. I loved the chips and salsa; it had good consistency and a nice spiciness to it. My boyfriend ordered a mix of the tacos-it's 3 for $9 which was a great price for their quality and for being downtown. I ordered the chicken fajitas and was extremely pleased. It was a huge piece of chicken that was seasoned very well and lots of veggies, even potatoes! I had to ask for a to-go box because even after making 3 fajitas, about half of the meat was left and most of the vegetables. It made for a great dinner later that day! Went for lunch today and had Genesis as our server. I've been a handful of times before, always for lunch at this location, but this was by far our best experience. Genesis was friendly, attentive and quick - exactly what you want went you've got to get back from the office. She told us about specials, kept the drinks full and didn't miss a beat when we almost out of chips. I typically always end up getting the three taco plate - pro tip: rice and beans are extra, just a $1 each if I remember correctly. The chipotle shrimp tacos could use a little more flavored (it's fried shrimp) but the al pastor and chicken tinga typically don't disappoint. Lots of seating options for groups big and small, over all solid choice for a quick downtown lunch with friends or colleagues. read more

Absolutely amazing Mexican food in the heart of Dallas! Within walking distance of many hotels, this little bistro is amazing for many different reasons! We were warmly greeted at the front door and shown to a booth. Genesis was our server and she was hard-working and fabulous! She recommended a number of items to us and we are so glad that we took her advice! We ordered Dos Equis on draft and it was so flavorful! Unlike any beer that we have ever tasted! And with the wedge of line it was amazingly refreshing. The salsa verde that is served with the chips is so delicious that I could eat it on everything!!! Chicken Tinga tacos are off the chart flavorful! With a little spice and enough cilantro and cheese on the side, they hit the spot! My husband ordered the shrimp tacos and he enjoyed them immensely! Rice and black beans are served as sides and they do not disappoint!!! Dessert was ordered by my son and my husband. They ordered the flan and the strawberry churro with ice cream. Both were gobbled up and we left very satisfied and raving about the flavors of our meals! We will make this our initial stop each time we come to Dallas! Don't miss it!!! Was expecting something good given the reviews on here, but left pretty disappointed. My server assured me that everything is made in-house, and I believe him - the food was good. The service, however, was very much less than so, as I was left waiting for long stretches of time trying to get his attention and the extra tortillas I ordered failed to arrive from the kitchen without his prompting after a considerable amount of time. There were three of us and the food came out ONE PLATE AT A TIME!!!! Who does that? We had to wait for silverware... I guess they were crafting new forks or something. There were no straws. The food was worse than the service! And there was absolutely ZERO liquor in the Margarita!!!! To say I am dissapointed is an understatement!
