Let me just say I have never been more disgusted and disappointed by a "resort" that charges this much per night. Check in was fast even though the room wasn't ready yet. The person who checked me in, couldn't answer simple questions I'm guessing because English isn't his first language. I didn't mind that, I figured I'd find some of the things out on my own. He had just gotten to work I suppose and he acted like he didn't want to be there. When we finally got in the room, it was terrible. It smelled like pets had been in the room using it for potty,the tub had hair in it. One comforter had blood stains on it so I had to put it on the floor. Upon wiping everything down, I discovered that nothing had been actually wiped down by housekeeping. The nightstand was dirty, the tables and sink were filthy. OMG please don't get started on the carpet. It's obviously never been cleaned. One of the wall outlets wasn't working and the Tv remote would barely turn the channel. The noise in the hallway especially after midnight is insane! It was very hard to rest there. Of course I was told they didn't hv another room to move us. I had to lay out my own towels to sleep in the beds because we were so exhausted from driving to Wisconsin. We had to rest as much as we could considering the circumstances. The water parks that they claim to have 4 of is a stretch. It's really two in one. Also, you have to walk a lot to get to the waterpark from your room so if you don't like walking don't go. The hot tub was not hot it was lukewarm which was a huge bummer because that's the only thing I really wanted for myself. The slides had ridiculously long lines with unruly ppl everywhere. There was trash floating in the water and the bathrooms in the waterpark were dirty. I've never been so itchy or nauseous at a resort! Does anyone clean at this place? We were so disappointed we ended up leaving earlier than we would have. What should have been 3 days enjoying the park ended up being one. My kids spring break ruined. I really would like to be refunded for at least one night. The price does not justify the accommodations. I cannot recommend this place. read more

Fun year round water park that's close enough to drive to for Spring Break (or the occasional long weekend). The Wilderness Resort separates the slides and other water fun into three indoor rooms. Two of these rooms are a close walk in between however, the third room is about a 10 or so minute walk down long hallways. One person in our group needed to use the elevator and it took longer to walk from one area/room to the next. This resort is part hotel and part timeshare (suites) and there are rows and rows of buildings with 4-6 floors each. This makes for a really long walk just to get to the water parks if your room is located far away. Our room was located in building #5 which is all the way in the back. Tip: the Dome room lets in full sunshine so you may need your sunglasses and suntan lotion or sun block. We did NOT know this before coming here. But this is the room with the wave pool and is so much fun! Kiddie areas are located in all three rooms as are the water slides, so there really is something for everyone. Stay hydrated, climb those steps over and over again, and just have fun! read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would! My family and I went this last weekend and it was the worst experience ever! First off the room was disgusting and it was 100 degrees when we walked in. Took all night just to cool it down. Then there were nat's all over the sink because the water wouldn't go down. And clearly no one updates or cleans this place. The maids never came and cleaned the room. Then we had 3 grown men in the room above us that were yelling and stomping till 4am. By the 2nd night we couldn't take it anymore and told them (they were out on the balcony) to be quiet and my 6 year old was trying to sleep. They then told my boyfriend they would kick his ass in front of my son. And screamed more obscenities at him. We had to call the front desk 3 different times and they said that security was handling it. They obviously did nothing since nothing changed. AND we watched the security person just drive around the parking lot and that's it. Finally after feeling not safe we left at 1am in the morning to drive 3 hours home. Before we left my boyfriend confronted the "security" team who told him "they didn't like his tone" I was done after this. This place is a joke! They won't even refund me anything (even tho We had to leave the 2nd night because we didn't feel safe at their establishment) because they said we asked the men upstairs to be quiet and that is the reason we aren't getting any refund at all. We had to confront them because "security" didn't do anything! I cried on the phone to the manager Josh about how I felt unsafe with MY CHILD there since the other guests there threatened my family and I with violence and he couldn't care less. The fact that this place doesn't care that their guests don't feel safe especially since this place is suppose to be a "family friendly" is ridiculous. There is so much to experience here that writing one review is challenging. This resort is really three or four resorts in one... They key take-aways from our experience is that Wilderness is great for kids of all ages and has many amenities that adults will appreciate. It gets very crowded during peak times, but their facilities can handle it. Our room was a suite style that included a couple of rooms and bathrooms as well as one common area. It includes a kitchenette and a nice deck. I can't say enough about the usefulness of this arrangement for multiple families or families with a wide gap in age groups. When you come here, plan on walking a lot. Also be sure to bring comfortable beach shows like sandals to walk from your room to the pool areas. Some other tips would be to send a person down early to reserve a table in your chosen area. They fill up fast. The wave pool opens first, and wild west doesn't open at all until the posted times. I recommend wilderness for family vacations. You can't go wrong in any season. read more

1 star for advertising a safe covid protocol adherence, while not actually enforcing the indoor mask rule, even for employees. A maintenance employee entered my room without wearing a mask over his nose and mouth (he had a gaiter around his neck, not covering anything)... which means he was also in the hallway maskless. I had to advise him to wear it properly. 2 staff members at front desk not wearing masks. One put on their mask and walked over to help us. No, they weren't eating. Most families roam the halls without masks, 3 out of 4 families I passed in the halls did not have masks. Other employees in the 4d theater also not wearing masks. Wilderness has people visiting from all over bringing who knows what variant, you advertise clean protocols but that's completely bogus. To your credit, you have disposable masks available for people that need them. read more

My family and I come here every single year for New Year's. However, this year we did not enjoy like prior years. The rooms seem dingier than ever, and this is likely related to the fact that the cleaning crews don't actually clean the rooms. At least while you're staying they don't. The service has gone down from what it was in the past. We asked to have our room cleaned, then went out for the day. When we came back our room wasn't clean. As you can imagine this was upsetting, but not that big of a deal. We called down for some towels and it took almost an hour to get them (after three calls to guest services), which caused us to be late for our New Year's eve reservations for dinner. No apologies, just "we're busy and doing the best we can." While the new renovations are nice, they have driven the cost up. When I have to pay $50 for breakfast for a family of four that's insane, and there are no other options. In addition, they changed the fun pass and removed all the fun from it. The only thing my kids wanted to do on the fun pass was the go carts, but now that it's unlimited the go cart line is always so long it doesn't make sense. They have removed the laser maze laser tag, the two most popular attraction and made that something you pay $6 per try (insane). Not a good move, I doubt we will be back in future years. We used to come to Wilderness because of the value and service, but now we will be looking to other resorts such as Great Wolf or Kalahari! read more

Never order drinks at the swim up bar. Two 16oz drinks and 2 shots = $45.00. Nothing special about them. If you insist on buying drinks I would highly recommended that you avoid the pink one called something involving the words 'jolly rancher'. Tasted like a cup of sugar with a drop of booze and pink food coloring. I could have gotten plastered and passed out on a luggage cart for half the price off of stuff from the beer store down the street. I will never look at the pink watermelon Jolly Rancher the same way again. I will never suck on it without having flashbacks that trigger PTSD from this terrible beverage. Pros: Kids will love this place. There are a bunch of indoor and outdoor water parks with plenty of options to enjoy - water slides, lazy rivers, pools, hot tubs, areas for little kids. There are lots of shaded areas to sit outside, unlike some of the other resorts in the area. There are multiple arcades, indoor activities like escape room, take flight ride, ropes course, etc. Although outdated, the room seemed pretty clean aside from the bird poop on the patio. Clean bathroom, towels, bedding, etc. Cons: No servers at the pool areas. This place could make so much more money if they had servers circulating for drink orders. You have to go to the bar to order a drink if you want one. Dining options are not great. We ate at Survivors for lunch one day and it was okay. Reviews for restaurants on property were bad so we stayed away for the most part. Pool areas could use a cleaning. I noticed almost all the pavement was dark and was in serious need of pressure washing. Kinda gross when you're walking around a pool barefooted. Wilderness Resort seemed really outdated compared to Glacier Canyon. A lot of the amenities felt closer to Glacier Canyon also - more water parks, stores, things to do on that side of the property. The property is spread out and you may feel like you've walked yourself to death in a day if you don't plan out your activities. This hotel has AC wall units in the rooms and while it did a good job keeping the room cool, there was undeniably a musty smell in the room throughout our stay. Made me wonder if they keep up with cleaning those units. We were on the 2nd floor which is the floor that has the skywalk that connects to the other resort. If you don't want a lot of outside noise, I'd say ask for another floor. It wasn't awful, but there was a ton of traffic during the day. Overall, I'd say if you're looking for a place to take your kids to swim & enjoy water slides, it could be worth a stay. If you're used to finer amenities, a well maintained property, service, etc., I'd maybe recommend another resort. read more

I'm a pros and cons person, so here goes. Pros: Great water parks The slides are amazing Mini golf, go-carts, extras are there Cabana service- DO IT- worth every penny cleaning crew is on it lots of space in condo, nice layout- jack and jill style bathroom and a second half bath. lots of sleeping options due to Murphy bed in living room. The condo is stocked with dishes galore. Room temperature was good. Good shower overall- but they could use a new shower head. Field's Steak House is great food and has awesome 90s ambiance. The pizza place on site is actually really good. Cons: Hotel Related We stayed in a two bedroom condo style w/full kitchen. This place is in severe need of an upgrade. The rooms are very dark due to the decor choices and the lighting, the appliances leave much to be desired, and the pillows are bumpy and too firm. The patio furniture is plastic and old. Two weeks prior to our trip, we requested to be near our family and they pretty much ignored the request. The girl at the check in desk made no apology for this, and pretty much hated her life. She was not pleasant, but not overtly mean, either. Meh. This hotel didn't do much sound proofing in the floors. An angry dinosaur-mama was living above us for the week. I was even scared of her wrath. Water Park Related Keep an eye on your kids, the life guards are your standard high school or college kid who hates her job. They look miserable out there. Overall they do the job, albeit begrudgingly. They blow their whistles a lot, so that's a plus, I presume. I did get to watch someone fall asleep while standing up, so that was a new thing for me. Will we go back? Yes. Every year. It's one of those things. Kids love it, and it's now a family tradition. Even though it was really cold up there with the wind so if the weather is just a tad bit chilly, dress warm cuz it gets colder as you go up! Also I didn't get his name but one of the bartenders at the Thirsty Buffalo made some FIRE buffalo wings and if you ask for extra ranch. THEY GET YOU YOUR RANCH!! Ok the room was ok but the sliding door wont lock, seems they have fixed this with a stick they left that allows someone my size to fit in. I lost a play card which btw they give u a bracelet to match and if you lose the card they tell you that you need the receipt to give u another although u have the silly bracelet. They rely heavily on foreign exchange students that struggle with English. And yes, its 14.00 a person for breakfast without a drink included except a small milk. I'm here for a tournament but I definitely wouldn't book a trip at this place. Avoid at all costs! read more

I came here with my girlfriend for a weekend stay at the hotel and water park. We both have fond memories at Wilderness Resort, and Wisconsin Dells in general. We arrived Friday night, checked in, and someone tried to talk us into a timeshare before we went to our room. Immediately we noticed a door that connected us with the adjacent room. Not a big deal, but we could hear them talking clearly at a normal voice level, so we asked the front desk if we could switch rooms. The room we switched to was the only other open room, which was on the first floor (they said they were otherwise sold out). It smelled like a locker room, was not well lit, and the light/fan switches in the bathroom barely worked. The TV speakers did not work, so we couldn't watch a movie. Still, the beds and towels were crisp, so we read books and went to sleep. We were woken early the next morning around 7:00AM by persistent loud banging from the unit above us, and when I called the front desk, it turned out there was construction taking place on the entire second floor. It was not supposed to have started until 9:00AM, but they continued banging away and drilling. Online, three of the six waterpark areas were listed as open. However, when we checked in, I was told one of the indoor areas was also closed for renovations and could not be used. So, only two of the six were actually available to us. Between these two, we basically had access to a handful of tube slides, a small lazy river, and a wave pool, all of which were completely packed. There were no unclaimed chairs to sit in, and everything smelled a little like urine. We spent a half hour in the water park areas before deciding it was time to go. I got a partial refund from the front desk for cancelling our second night's stay, but I wish I pushed for a full refund because of the unannounced construction and renovations. We won't be returning. What a waste of a weekend. read more

Had a nice dinner here but service seemed a bit confused as they helped each other with tables (nice) but communication lacked. Will probably go back, but will try other places first. Good atmosphere, nice dinner. There was confusion about what was gluten free and not in their menu so they had to redo my main course even though I had specifically asked and one person said she had checked with the kitchen. They redid dish removing pasta and sauces that were not GF and comped my entree which was nice. I wish there is a 3.5 review choice. I would give 0 stars if It were an option. We traveled 5 hours and were so excited to get to the resort as this was our first vacation post covid. We got to the resort at noon and got our wristbands so we could enter the water parks. We were having a blast but around 1:15PM I got a text that our room was ready to check-in. This is where it all went downhill. We got our bags, went to our room, put our stuff INSIDE of OUR room, and went back out to the water parks for a while. When we returned to the room, we quickly realized that my husbands phone, my purse, our car keys, and ALL of my sons birthday money was missing. We called security and she came up right away to get a statement (she was great, actually) and said she would look at the cameras and see if she could find anything. Sure enough, about an hour later she called to let us know that the videos showed that the housekeeping staff left the room door next to our room cracked open, and some guests at the resort scaled the 3 story balcony, jumped onto our balcony and entered our room where they proceeded to steal our belongings. They got them on camera and everything. The guests that stole our stuff left the resort with our belongings and nothing was retrieved. We ended up having to get our car towed from the parking lot to a local dealer so we could get new keys made (which took 2 days and $500) and then get an Uber to the dealership so that we could leave this resort. When I called to talk to the resort manager, he was so rude and did not care at all about what we had endured due to his staffs negligence. He did not even apologize. He told me that it was "not their fault" and they were not liable for our belongings. I am DISGUSTED with the lack of compassion and I believe that this resort is liable for this incident. My husband even confronted the housekeepers because we saw them leave the hotel doors open daily. BE CAREFUL when staying at this resort. We are out A LOT of money and time due to their negligence. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. We rented a villa 107A for Easter weekend and had an entire colony of ants invade our villa. After calling guest services and housekeeping to take care of the issue, we still managed to have ants continually come into our villa. Afterwards, we called guest services again (after the ants had gotten into all of our food), they proceeded to tell us that it was "ant season" and that this should be expected. In a villa. That we paid over $1000 for. This is something that I would expect from a small motel in the middle of nowhere, but certainly not a larger resort in the dells. Especially not in a villa. Thought highly of this resort prior to booking but that position has certainly changed after dealing with guest relations and seeing how they handled this issue. ...an ant just crawled on me as I wrote this review. This used to be my family's go to spot forever in the Dells because they didn't have day passes. Now, pools are more crowded, parking is hard to find during the day and the rebranding is awful. The lobbies & rooms used to have a lodge, cabin or wilderness feel to them. Now they are all very bland and boring. Sadly, we won't be back any time soon. read more

I would first like to say that I don't write too many reviews and honestly, I can't remember the last time I wrote one. My family wen't to the Wilderness Resort to bring in the new year and stayed at Glacier Canyon Lodge, which is our favorite place to stay. We haven't been in a few years, so it was nice to come back. We all had a great time as always and just had a great time! Anyhow, this review isn't about our experience at the resort as much as it is about their customer service and specifically their "Lost & Found" service. I accidentally left my iPad in our room and after double-checking the room before we left, it still didn't dawn on me that I left my iPad behind! Furthermore, I didn't realize it was missing until after we got home, which was 4 hours away. After calming down after I realized I left my iPad there, I calmly called the resort and spoke to Gale (sp?) in Lost & Found after I was transferred their from customer service, which assured me that they take Lost & Found items very seriously, which they absolutely do! Anyway, after speaking with Gale a few times, she was able to coordinate between both the cleaning staff and security to enter the room we had stayed in and low and behold, found the iPad! Not only did she have my iPad found, she also went out of her way to personally drop it off at UPS to have it priority mailed to me, which I got the next day! Gale, if you are reading this and better yet, if I spelled your name correctly... from the bottom of my heart, I am so appreciative and thankful your support and hope you have a great day! For anyone that might be reading this, if you haven't been to the Wilderness Resort, I would make a point to go... we love it and we'll be back again sooner rather than later! read more

Wisconsin Dells is a childhood favorite of mine that now I get to share with my own children. We ve stayed all over throughout the years, most recently at the Wilderness. We are very impressed with the facility as a whole. So much to offer in terms of water parks, both indoor and outdoor, and other amusement opportunities like go carts. The rooms are comfortable and the food offerings are comparable in pricing to any tourist destination. Overall staff is friendly and competent. There are a lot of activities that we missed due to timing so we are hoping to eventually do EVERYTHING. I feel that I get a great value for the cost of the room. read more

When we first got into our room I noticed that there was black mold on the towel rack in the bathroom and the balcony was covered in bird crap. Since it's winter time and we don't smoke we let it go. The morning we were leaving the light went out in our bathroom when I was trying to get ready at 8:30am and our check out was 11. So I called to have someone fix it and they said 15-20mins. After 30mins we called back to see if we could get a later check out since it was still not fixed and they refused. I asked to talk to the manager (Jenna) and she said they were busy and we couldn't get a later check out. I said that I get they are busy and that's fine but it's as not our fault and we had 3 people to use 1 shower so asked for extra time bc we would only have an hour at this point. She said well since it's not our fault or yours then there is nothing she would be. A few minutes later said called to say we could have an extra hour to get ready. I don't understand why I had to argue for the time to get ready when it was already an inconvenience. So on top of the dirty rude, the rude staff really ruined our time. The kids had a blast! There was a lot of floating trash in the wave pool, but the slides were fun. Outdoor spaces were clean and very well supervised by lifeguards. I was impressed by the attentiveness of the guards as they jumped in the wave pool 3 times during our stay to help struggling patrons. Our room was clean and close to everything we engaged in. Second visit this past weekend in less than a year and without a doubt will be coming back again. It's a huge resort with plenty to do, I can't imagine all the things you can do in the summer. Our room was clean and everyone waS helpful whenever we had questions. Both times I've gone it's been super busy, but it's to be expected if you're going on a holiday weekend or on spring break. Even with it being busy, lines to go down slides aren't long at all. Food was pricy, but we expected that coming to a hotel resort and prepared for it. The only frustrating thing we had was the larger game room was so busy you couldn't get around and in the smaller game room most of the games were out of order, but it is what it is and we made the best of it. The mixed drinks from their menu are so good. I wish I could've tried all of them! We had a blast and can't wait to go back. read more

I didn't stay in this resort, we stay at the glacier canyon Wyndham side. Which allowed my family to enjoy the amenities that the wilderness has to offer. This resort indoor water park blows Mt. Olympus & Kalahari out of the water. I've been to both. We like the wilderness better because of the slides, hot tubs, pools, indoor park area that the wilderness can offer versus the other two parks. Reason for 3 stars. Well this is my fourth year here and they need to update their facilities to keep up with the competition, although they don't really have competition since they own a square mile of the dells... but new flooring, paint, and some additional lighting be good. Just a thought. We will be coming back again next year! read more

We've been coming to the Dells every summer for over 5 years and the Wilderness has never disappointed us. The resort is massive! The main hotel is split into two regions, the Wild West and the New Frontier. There is also a skywalk that connects the main hotel to the Glacier Canyon Lodge which has larger rooms for a big family or somebody who likes a big more space. We have only been to the Wilderness during the summer months so we definitely prefer the outdoor waterparks but I like the indoor parks as long as they're not overcrowded (as they tend to get very hot inside). Each waterpark has a signature attraction such as the Lunar Loop and Cosmic Drop slides at the Lost World waterpark and the Hurricane waterslide in the Klondike Kavern waterpark. With six waterparks, massive arcades, and comfortable rooms, the Wilderness is our go-to resort when we're staying in the Wisconsin Dells and we are looking forward to returning next summer! read more

Our family decided to get together for a weekend in the Wisconsin Dells at the Wilderness Resort. This is a huge resort with multiple water parks, (both indoors and outdoors) and well as lots of other activities from laser-tag to go-karts, arcades, and bumper boats. We were here in March so none of the outdoor activities were open. There is a lot to do, but you will pay dearly for all of it. Our room ended up costing us @ $300. It was in the hotel itself on the 3rd floor near the lobby. Two queen beds and a couch. A balcony overlooking the closed outdoor pools. In general it was clean except a layer of dust ground into the edge of the carpet all around the room. Free wifi was included although the signal was not strong and often I was unable to get connected. The decor was outdoor cabin. The highlights of the resort are definitely the 3 indoor water-parks. They had great areas for the youngest ones to play. The lazy river was way too crowded and difficult to find a raft. The wave pool was good. The slides were fun. All of the dry activities (lazer-maze, lazer-tag, go-karts, mini-golf, etc) cost extra money. There's 42 oz drinks available, but for a staggering $25 you'll need to make that last. The Wilderness IS a very nice resort. Incredibly popular. But very crowded and very expensive. read more

Do not stay here - we arrived to a lobby that had no heat, got to the room to find that the heat was not working and the phone was not working when we went to the front desk to tell them they sent us back to the room to wait for maintenance who never came, after an hour we went around asking to be moved and the front desk said they needed someone to go in to check if it was cold even after seeing all of us in our jackets and clearly visible that we were cold after maintenance never showed up we got moved to another room but anyone offer to help us move. Management never called to rectify the situation. We asked for more towels and shampoo - we ended up getting coffee instead - there is no customer service in this place, you are better off staying at Kalahari. read more

Check-in: Be prepared for a bit of a wait. Its not just zip your card and be on your merry way. It takes a good 15-20 min. At least mine did. Check in guy was great. Very helpful and outgoing. * Tip* You need to have the credit card you booked the reseravtion on or they have to refund the original one and rerun it on the one you have with you. Okay.. First time I guess that has been an issue. Rooms were not ready, but they can text or call you when they are. Maps provided because the property is quite large and sprawling. Tip 1: Stay at the glacier canyon on this property. You dont need to worry about kids running up and down halways at all hours of the night and the check in is a lot easier...just avoid whydam. Plus 2+ bathrooms in a 1 bedroom and a full kitchen...yes please! Tip 2: go to the waterpark after 5pm, the kids are starting to go to dinner and are exausted from playing all day...you will save your time in some(not all) of the lines. Tip 3: Do not move your car...we made the mistake (well ok we won) of going to the casino and getting back at midnight and had to park at the lobby back to our room. Given the size of the resort...it was a long walk. Tip 4: do the fun pass! Even my BF and I (27& 34) enjoyed the ropes course and 3D glow in the dark golf...seriouslt we dint think it looked cool but it was super trippy and fun. Even lazer tag was awesome! We just got back from a 2 night stay at the Wilderness Hotel. We booked an upper level Double Suite room (2 queen beds, and sofa (sleeper) separated with a wall. We were on the 3rd floor with an outdoor waterpark view (not a big deal in the winter since it's all closed up, but it was fun because we got to see what the Hurricane looked like from the outside). Now, some of these reviews just make me laugh - like stating a room with 2 queen beds is not big enough for 4 people. I just don't understand. MOST hotel rooms aren't very big, and when you are staying at a waterpark resort, how much time are you really spending in your room anyway? The room was clean, we had plenty of towels, shampoo, soap and lotion. We had an issue with the televisions, which a call down to the front desk had rectified by having a visit from maintenance that was done quickly. My only complaint would be the hours of the waterparks. I would have liked hours until 10-11pm, not 9-10pm, especially on a Friday night. We highly enjoyed our time splashing and playing in the 3 indoor waterparks we did visit. We also purchased a Fun Pass and our 2 kids shared the card and split the activities. We didn't try any food there so I can't comment on that. But there are little shops, several eateries and plenty to keep you busy. I typically do not sleep well in hotels, but I had no issues here and found it impossible to peel open my eyes before 8am. This place is starting to get pretty pricy for not really adding anything that warrants it. When the outdoor parks are closed, the indoor facilities are so packed you don't seem to get your money's worth for the "unlimited" wristbands. They need to install one of those surfing things that their competition down the road has. That thing is awesome. The zip line at the wilderness is decent. The two ladies who guided our group were great. The house we had was great except we froze as nobody knew we needed a keycard in the light-switch in order for the heater to work. (That was our fault, but how bout a note or something that reminds us that is needed.) read more

You're heading to the Wilderness? Do me a favor and spend a few weeks on the stair climber at the gym. You'll need it, trust me. Now, onto the review... We were looking for a fun place to go for a quick family vacation. My cousin had stayed here and recommended it. But, me being me, I spent a week reading reviews on Yelp and other websites and shopping around online at the other resorts in the Dells. After realizing that Wilderness has 3 times more indoor waterpark square footage, I booked a room. We stayed in Glacier Canyon in a 2 bedroom condo with 1.5 baths, living room, dining area, full kitchen (full size stove, fridge, dishwasher and a microwave), 2 TVs and a fireplace. The condo was $150 a night for the second week in March, a pretty good deal, I thought (book in advance if you can, I checked the rate again the following week and it had gone up). The room was nice and was plenty of room for my dude, our 2 kids (aged 10yrs and 15 months) and me. As previous reviews have mentioned, sometimes things are a serious haul. My stepdaughter and I timed our walk from the Wild West waterpark to our room and it was about 13 minutes and we weren't walking slow. Be prepared to walk. We were there during what appeared to be a popular week for spring break and it was crowded. At times, very crowded. We checked in on a Sunday and it was nuts. Thankfully it slowed down over the next couple days. Definitely get to the parks early if you want a table, they go fast! As I mentioned at the beginning of my review, be prepared to climb *A LOT* of stairs if you like the slides. My stepdaughter and I went on about 10 slides in 45 minutes and I didn't even need to work out that day after climbing all those flights of stairs. Our favorite slides were the Black Hole in the Wild West and the Hurricane in Klondike Kavern. Both lines were significantly shorter first thing in the morning and during lunch and dinner times. Bring food. At the very least, all rooms have microwaves. We brought little microwavable snacks and meals and had lunch in our room every day after breakfast out and before dinner out. It saves money and plus, sometimes you just will want to grab a bite and head straight out back to the parks! Each of the parks has a fun place for the little guys. My little toddler dude had a blast playing in the splash areas. I was glad for the free access to small life vests. The dry areas are fun! We only did the indoor play area and my dude and stepdaughter did the Skyropes. My stepdaughter had glowing reviews of both, she had a blast! My dude and I thought we were going to have "forced fun". It turned out that we had ACTUAL fun! So much fun, in fact, that we decided to extend our stay by another day and the woman at the front desk was kind enough to give up the rate we had paid even though online, it had gone up $55. Sweet! We have since decided that we're going to make the Wilderness an annual tradition! read more

A few adult friends and I went here for a short winter vacation. We went mid-week hoping that there wouldn't be too many families with kids here, since they'd be in school. Right on. It was awesome. It was freezing as h-e-double hockey sticks outside but riding around the lazy river, hitting the wave pool and multiple trips down the Hurricane made us forget all about that. The room was nice and comfortable for 3 adults with 2 double beds and a pull out couch. The rate was awesome, surely because we were there off season. They have 3 indoor water parks and they were all a lot of fun. We laughed our butts off at the Hurricane. It's all nice and leisurly at first and then all of a sudden it's like WHOA!!! We had a really good time. Definitely go on this ride. Yes, it's a pain in the bum walking up all those stairs but it was worth it. Worth it enough that we did it about 20 times in a row the first day! I love that it stays open all year and every day. We had originally wanted to go to the Water Park of America but they were only open on the weekends during the school year and that would defeat our purpose of trying to avoid lots of kids. read more

How have I not reviewed Wilderness Hotel yet?? I would say that they are our family's favorite out of all the waterparks in Wisconsin Dells. We have stayed there several times in the past and have enjoyed just about every aspect of their waterparks (inside, at least). For lodging, the rooms are great. All clean and comfortable. We like to find a deal on a 2 or 3 bedroom condo and make an event out of it. The condos are nice in that you can utilize the kitchen for meals, and they're spacious enough for the family to spread out during breaks and when you're done for the day. We've found that most of the condos are not as close to the waterparks, but we deal with that. The main waterpark area is spread out over three locations. The wave pool is great if you want to chill out. The glass ceiling lets in sunlight so even in winter you get that beachy feeling. Be patient when trying to find a lounge chair by the water - they are popular. "Wooly's" - the food place by the wave pool - can be a challenge. Keep an eye on it and go when the line is short. I went in for a couple things and waited too long for how many people were working in there. The smoothies took too long to make, though they were pretty good. There's one family raft ride by the wave pool. If you want more, you'll have to go to a different area... Klondike Kavern is the waterpark closest to the wave pool. These are the two areas we frequent the most, since they're relatively close. There are some good tube rides, body slides, a bucket dump, and a lazy river that should satisfy just about anyone. They have a new "slideboarding" option that just opened. It incorporates a video game (think Guitar Hero meets water slide) where you scan your wristband, pair it to a board, and get scores for how well you do during the ride. Video boards show high scores, total rides, etc. It's a brilliant idea to hook the "gamer" generation. The third big area is the Wild West Waterpark. To get there from Klondike you have to hoof it through two-plus long hallways past many rooms. It's nice that you're indoors during that walk. Wild West has a big bucket dump feature and a nice array of body slides, a tube ride, and a family raft slide. There's also the Black Hole tube ride. Be warned that the weight limit on the Black Hole is 250lbs and they WILL weigh you (everyone) at the top, so be prepared. One fella was rejected at the top and had to walk back down the stairs... The Wild West Waterpark is a great place to end your day as there is a "dry park" there as well. Younger kids will enjoy the big "rat maze" full of foam balls that you can load into cannons and shoot around. The arcade is right there too if you have some change to spend. Other features (that cost extra) include mini golf, a ropes course, and indoor go karts. All in all, this is a great place to spend a day, night or weekend. Plenty to do for everyone! read more
