Half- Price Mondays are a must! Stopped in for a late dinner last Monday and treated to half price apps and wine. We sat the bar and Patrick, the bartender, was attentive, informative, and friendly. We ordered a bevy of apps: bacon wrapped scallops (my favorite of the bunch), Moroccan chicken skewers, kale & artichoke fondue, Bison meatballs, wild mushroom and goat cheese pizza (bigger than we expected) along with a bottle of Riesling. Pandemic has increased prices and decreased choices everywhere. It didn't sink in until I went to Wildfire Glenview and our normal $300 extended family dinner became a $400+ dinner! I decided to compare prices using the Wayback machine (see photo). And this doesn't include the 3% surcharge. So the $37 filet is now $50.50. The $4 broccoli side is now $8.25. Fried chicken went from $20 to $25.75. 5 of the 12 appetizers are no longer on the menu. And for that much, it's just an OK experience. The steaks are mid-level. Cooked perfectly, but over-salted to try to inject flavor. One person in my party had the macademia crusted halibut that was OK - and $51.50. Two different glasses of wine (non-house Cab and Pinot) tasted watery. I find it offputting when restaurants add a surcharge after already raising prices. Sure, you can ask to take it off but assume that's the price. read more

I've been to this establishment before and had an amazing food experience. It pains me to say, this time not so much. My family visited last night to celebrate my daughter's graduation from High school. I could not attend because I'm recovering from major surgery. I asked my wife to get me a French onion soup to go. I've had the French onion soup from here before and it was delicious. To my surprise the experience was not the same... first of all how are you going to charge $9 for soup in a small plastic dish? Secondly did the line cook, CHEF, OR PERSON, that made the dish not see all the grease floating in the soup? I'm a former fine dining chef and if that product would have been delivered out of my kitchen, heads would have rolled. Thirdly, it wasn't made right either my wife ordered it without cheese and sure enough cheese was added. Lastly, everyone knows a toasted crouton is placed in the middle of the dish to melt a layer of cheese over the soup, here is the thing MAKE SURE YOU PUT ENOUGH LIQUID IN THE BOWL THAT THE CROUTON DOESN'T ABSORB MOST OF THE LIQUID IN THE BOWL OF SOUP!!!!!!!!!!! MY GOODNESS, ITS A $$$ establishment these things should be known. I'm sorry when you spend $300 for a meal, it should be perfect every aspect of it, wouldn't you agree? The manager has absolutely no skills. He was downright nasty and unprofessional. We went to celebrate a baby naming, and it was an awful experience there. We had called and asked about their family style lunch prior to coming. We were told it was available. When we sat down, the server went to get the manager. The manager told us that isn't offered anymore. Why, then, is it on the website stating six or more people can order it? The food was horrible and the additions made to the check without notification is outrageous. I my daughter and I ordered ordered an open faced salmon sandwich for lunch, and it was like cardboard. My husband and son-in-law ordered the tenderloin tips and there were so much salt. One plate was not touched and they needed a gallon of water to choke down any of it. We ordered a cookie skillet dessert, ( two ) they were served cold, not hot like the description and awful. How could you ruined these cookie skillets? Next, we were told that each entrée came with a side. We ordered a side dish for our entrées. When the bill came, we were charged for each one of those side dishes. Then we looked at the bottom of the check to find out if they added a 3% charge because expenses have just going up too much. Yes, they said you can request having it taken off but why is that expense on there and what if you don't actually look at your bill thoroughly? I suggest no one to go there. We just enjoyed the nicest meal and experience here! My sister arranged for a private dining room to celebrate her daughter's baptism today after church. We were warmly welcomed and led to our room. Three kind gentleman and one lady (I regret not asking their names) took excellent care of us! Watchful service without interrupting table conversation is an art. We started with a refreshing punch of fruit juices and Prosecco. They also offered a non alcoholic version. Chopped salad and calamari followed our drink delivery and our plated meal orders were take . While my sis and her partner chose the food options (cedar plank salmon, filet mignon, or spit roasted herb chicken) the food was fresh and delicious. My salmon was perfectly prepared-not over cooked nor rare in the middle. Roasted vegetables and red skin mashed potatoes rounded out the plate. Showed up with no reservation, it was busy but they got us in (off in a little side room but what can you ask for with no rezo?)! Crab cakes were on point, I got the prime rib and my partner got the Monday special (southern fried chicken) and then we finished it all off with a slice of pecan pie. The food was good (as to be expected) but our server Alejandra really made our experience. I used to come here quite often when they first opened and since then my visits have dwindled. Came back recently for a lunch and was surprised and pleased that I could make a last minute reservation and the place was empty especially for a weekend. Enjoyed the onion soup. The calamari appetizer was poor as the portion was tiny for the price. I don't recall it being this sparse. Everything else was on par. Glad to see the classic desserts on the menu as well and they still use the fake dessert tray for eye candy. Still would come back but perhaps fr dinner. I LOVE this restaurant -- but the CARRY OUT.....NOT SO MUCH!! Ordered the fried chicken that they have on mondays since the pandemic began. Told them I'd be there to pick it up at a specific time, got there 5 minutes early - my order was already in a bag sitting on a shelf at the carry out area - brought my warmer to place it in - but what was the point everything was already tepid - not hot at all :( When we got home 10 minutes later - the chicken and mash potatoes were disappointingly cool!! They really need to up there game when it comes to wrapping the food better and not letting it sit around who knows how long for a take out order. I've recently had the opportunity to visit Wildfire in Glenview on two separate occasions, having never been before. Both were great! Here's what I found: Excellent traditional entree options to choose from here: The beef burger I ordered arrived perfectly cooked and was right at the edge of "take me home I'm too big to finish eating here". The amazing prime rib I ordered next time, complete with horseradish and mashed potatoes was a dish I just can't get anywhere else, and every bite was excellent. I also tasted the salmon, and it was an excellent choice for those who don't want red meat. The salads are also a good choice. If you like Mushrooms, get an order of the amazing side dish of sauteed caps in a piping hot dish covered in savory sauce, YUM! I ordered this side dish on a whim the first time, and enjoyed them again the second time around! Last but not least I should mention the wide array of wine and drink choices available at the beautiful wood bar, and if you get nothing else - get the chocolate cake. Dropped by this place on a Saturday night. There were nice heaters so outdoor dining was comfortable during covid times. The tables were spaced a bit close to each other. We ordered the bison burger, a steak sandwich, and the wild cosmo. First off the drink was very average, it tasted sweet and artificial like something you'd get at a frat house or college bar. They provided some complimentary cornbread which was moist and had corn kernels inside. The bison burger was super average, it tasted like an ordinary burger, but it was also dry and bland. The steak sandwich however was excellent, juicy, and flavorful. Instead of fries, we got a side of au gratin, which was also an excellent choice. The service staff were friendly, and overall experience was not too bad, but our food choices did not justify the price we paid. read more

Enjoyed a ginger soy coho salmon special with Israeli couscous and sautéed matchstick veggies. Although the coho was just slightly overcooked and could have been more moist, it tasted very good. A side of the special roasted corn with lime butter and feta was delicious. The steakhouse salad has a nice amount of filet but it has three romaine wedges which is too much lettuce for the amount of meat. It needs other grilled veggies to cut through do much romaine. Cut the lettuce down and add a few grilled peppers, more grilled onions and this would be a perfect salad for $18. The moroccan chicken skewer appetizers were tender and flavorful but some in our group did not like that they were thigh meat as they are used to breast meat on a skewer. The crab cakes tasted fine but had too much shredded crab meat and not enough jumbo lumps. The server did not listen when we told her she needed a longer corkscrew to open the wine we brought which was 14 years old. The shaft on her corkscrew was too short and she broke the cork. She did get another longer corkscrew to fix it, but she should have done that first. read more

It's not that this place is bad, it's just not great. The prime rib my friend ordered was not to his liking, too tough and he ultimately gave up on it and sent it back. I give credit to Wildfire, they were really accommodating and removed it entirely from the bill. The food that did turn out OK was just that OK. The service was friendly, but the food took awhile between ordering and delivery. For the coin you are dropping here, you really should expect nothing less than great. The real turn off was at the end of the night. We had pulled the vehicle up to the front door, were loading our party into the car when our driver decided he would use the restroom before we headed out. When he went to open the door, he discovered that the entire establishment was on lockdown after you exited the building, meaning you could not get back in the restaurant. He actually had to wait for another patron to exit, so he could quickly grab the door before it shut so he could use the restroom. No offer from any of the employees to open the door for him. After the amount of coin we just dropped, completely unacceptable. Here is the real kicker. My friend exits the restaurant headed to the car, and NOW an employee comes out to inspect the restaurant door to see if it is locking properly from the outside because obviously he is disturbed by the fact that my friend had regained entry. As I always say, you can't buy class. Sorry Wildfire, we will be taking our dollars elsewhere. read more

Yesterday, my friend and I visited the Glenview location and our waiter was down right rude. His name was Daniel, and I have no other reason to believe his rudeness was really racism . We noticed the excellent customer service he provided the white customers and us being the ONLY African American women in the restaurant we weren't provided that service. We spoke to the manager Nick Westin and his response was, " sorry we're short staff and he must be tired" My replay was, " interesting he didn't seem tired with the other customers". I then got a blank stare. I would not recommend this location if your black, we were not treated well or treated well. I come to Wildfire fairly often. The food quality is consistent and enjoyable. Drinks are okay though. I suggest sticking with the wine :) On this trip I got... Chopped Salad = It's HUGE and always on point. Fresh crisp lettuce with blue cheese and bacon crumbles, chopped chicken breast tossed in a citrus lime vinaigrette. The tortilla strips definitely add to the salad as well. Bacon wrapped scallops = 6 per order. Nice and tender sweet like candy. Oven baked crab cakes = 2 per order. Very good. Nice sized chucks of crab meat to savor. Baked goat cheese = served with a tomato basil sauce and focaccia bread. Must try it is so good! I meat for the evening was the char crusted bone in rib eye. Oooo yeah get it medium rare. It's well marbled nicely seasoned with a crispy crust. They serve it with a bit of jus which works well. My most favorite place Ever! During the Pandemic my friend and I would meet at Wildfire for lunch and dinner. We have enjoyed the outside dining and the inside social distance dining. When we wanted a hearty, good, soul satisfying meal, we meet at this Wildfire. My BFF and I have for years have celebrated our birthdays at this location. I live in the city and he lives in the burbs a couple of miles away and I drive to meet him. Today was his second birthday meal because his first birthday meal was mediocre at another restaurant and I had insisted that we have a do over and it had to be at Wildfire because we wanted Good food!!! We were both excited to be returning back to wildfire after being away for a few months and all we had on our mind was the cornbread. We have always talked about who would have eaten the biggest pieces. Our server was Myron and he was awesome and efficient. I asked for bread and imagine my surprise when Myron actually returned with bread, like dinner roll bread and not cornbread .... What The What! Apparently the cornbread is no longer being served as the pre meal delight but it is on the menu for $13 and you get a huge A$$ pan that is worth the price. Nevertheless, I was having a hard time accepting that I wouldn't be received by some yummy cornbread and even though Myron did a spectacular job at explaining the difficulties of sustaining the long tradition of serving the warm, buttery, delicious treat. I asked if I could speak to the GM. In a short time the GM came over and patiently listened to me talk about my love affair with the cornbread and I carefully explained in detail how I was looking forward to a good, hearty meal that started with the cornbread, they patiently watched as I did a dramatic interpretation of my broken corn bread heart. I told them that though I understand the reasoning and I understand how it wasn't a sustainable option any longer, I was still disappointed. I thanked them for listening and he went off into the sunset. Shortly after that a basket of cornbread arrived with our meals. I was So in LOVE, all over again. Imagine my surprise when the GM showed up with the rest of the pan of cornbread packaged to go. I love this place, the food is always bankable and the service has always been excellent. Have been a guest at Wildfire for the past 14 years between this location, Lincolnshire, and River North. My most recent visit was one of the best experiences due to our two servers for the evening, Chaz and Myron. They handled the needs of my 14 top family with ease and class throughout. Aside from the amazing service, the food was on par as always. Opted for the bone in filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus which was cooked to medium rare perfection. Also sampled some of the other dishes and the standout was the fried chicken. First time having it and certainly not the last. For dessert, the seasonal blueberry pie a la mode was phenomenal and not overtly tart like most other berry pies. Monday's are also half priced wine bottles and the Erath 2016 Pinot Noir paired perfectly with the bone in filet as well as the other steaks ordered. Very nice ambiance here and the food is always amazing. I enjoyed the brown sugar and soy braised salmon. The potatoes au gratin is my favorite side. The mushrooms were to die for! Broccoli wasn't very flavored and could have used more lemon vinaigrette. Half chicken is very juicy and they have a ton of chickens roasting in the kitchen! Yep so sad to say, this place has declined. I will start by saying my waiter was excellent. But it was all downhill from there. Stale onion rolls to start (yes, ONLY onion no option of plain). The prices? Just out of line. $38 for a piece of fish ala carte? I had the crab cake sandwich which my waiter assured me was mostly crab. YUCK!!! It was mostly crab but not actual lump crab. Had the worst experience here today. Party of six for my girlfriends birthday. Arrived at 2, ordered by 2:30. At 3 pm we asked for our food and suddenly it all came out. Salads came same time as the entrees, everything was cold and the meat was all very red when we asked for medium. Everything had to be reordered and it took another half hour then was cold. AGAIN! We've been going to Wildfire downtown for years, what I like about this location is free parking. The food at all the Wildfire Restaurants is consistently the same. I'm a big fan of their French Onion Soup, although, I didn't get this time, we had a Bavarian style pretzel as an appetizer, it was good. One of my friends had a skirt steak, I had a bite, I thought it was tasty enough, but a bit chewy, me entree was a steak strip special with some feta cheese crust on top, that was outstanding, large portion, should have ate half, but I ate it all. Waiter made a wine recommendation, we had 3 bottles, no room for desert, but I did get a scoop of ice cream with a birthday candle.
