For a unique and memorable night out, definitely reserve a table here ahead of time. It was my first time in Denver and I was in for a bachelorette party... even though we had a larger group, we split our party up just to check this place out. Williams and Graham is a speakeasy with an adorable bookshelf entryway. We did have a bit of a wait but once we got seated, we loved the room and its dark, sophisticated ambiance. Our bachelorette/birthday girl had an amazing time, mainly accredited to our server- I'm so bummed I forgot his name since we were there over a month ago but he made us feel right at home and clearly waa passionate about his job. With such an extensive selection of drinks, one can be overwhelmed but this man steered us in the right directions and even made a few "bartenders choice" suggestions for the birthday girl. I knew I wanted something different than my usual Espresso Martini so our server asked a few questions and ultimately suggested the Mr. Tally Man. The two ladies in the front were very friendly and conversational. we didn't wait too long to get inside about 10 minutes but it went by fast since we were talking. My friend and I walked in and sat at the bar. the looks of it they have all types of liquor and ingredients to make special drinks. On the side the booths. Our bartenders Alexander and I think George were awesome. We told him that we wanted some special made cocktails outside of the menu and we told them what we wanted and they made perfect cocktails. We also ordered a Borratino for a little snack. It was very nice way to spend part of our evening. Also, my cocktail had a delayed effect and hit me pretty hard. It was so sweet and smooth. I'm a huge fan of speakeasies and Williams & Graham probably makes my top 10. We visited on a Friday evening and were told that there would be a 90 minute wait for our party of 4. So we put our names down and decided to visit Lady Jane (just 1 block away) in the meantime. There aren't many bars that are worth a 90 minute wait, in my opinion, but this one was. We got a call that they were ready for us, and when we returned, the hostess opened the door to the bar, which was disguised as an old bookshelf. The interior was extremely elegant, with dim lighting and a cozy atmosphere. Although the booths looked like the best seating option, we started off in the standing area (which still has long high top tables) and later moved to the bar. Our server Jerry came over right away with a menu of extremely elaborate seasonal cocktails. They also had the option of bespoke cocktails (for a slight upcharge), as well as classic cocktails, mocktails, and beer. My friend and I both decided to get the Hazy Miss Daisy and our other friend chose the Yesterday's Price. I really loved mine - so unique and flavorful, but I probably couldn't drink more than one. We also ordered French Fries and Deviled Eggs to snack on. The Deviled Eggs were just alright (too heavy on the mustard flavor) but the French Fries were pretty good. W&G is probably the best place for cocktails in Denver and top five for food. Never had a bad time here, would recommend to everyone.

We showed up for our reservation and were told we could not come in because we had our baby with us. The manager said in a very rude and condescending tone, "we don't allow anyone under 21 in, it's clearly stated on our website". We were dumbfounded....all 5 of the people in our party had looked at this website and not a single one of us saw anything stating it was 21+ only. Also, the online reservation page didn't mention it and we actually called the restaurant directly to change the size of our party and again, not a word was mentioned about the age restriction. As we were walking out, the manager said, "we'd love to have you back at another time without the baby"......it was such a cringey thing to say to people you just kicked out. Upon leaving, the 5 of us scoured their website to see how we missed the age restriction, after nearly 15 minutes of searching I finally saw it, buried sections and sections down....a teeny, tiny mention that you had to scroll to the very bottom of their website to see and all it says is "Ages 21+"......gee, how could we have possibly missed that?! See the screenshot. I have no problem with this place being 21+ only, I get it. The problem I do have with this place is the fact that they don't make it clear on their website and then they're rude to you about it. I read the reviews....this same thing has happened to others. As far as speakeasy's go, this place is it. Has a bookcase entrance that you need to go through in order to get in. I will warn you though, there will likely be a wait anytime you go but you can wait at their sister bar next door and grab a drink(that's what we did). After about an hour, we were called. Very intimidate inside with low lights(everything you would expect from a speakeasy). Service and cocktails were on point. We were also hungry so we ordered their French onion soup. Now I've had a thousand French onion soups, but none as good as this one. Also this one has something that no other French onion soup has and idk why they wouldn't. It had beef! I've always enjoyed a speakeasy experience, but this one was definitely a bit louder than others I've been to. Our booth was still private, but the people at the standing bar in the middle of the room's voices definitely carry quite easily. We went during the summer seasonal menu and got the Si, Claro, and Umami Bomb. The Si, Claro was very tasty and refreshing, the Umami Bomb was probably one of the strangest drinks either of us have ever had and it was VERY shroomy. My gf and I came in late on a Sunday without a res and weren't sure we were going to be able to get in. Luckily since it was late on Sunday, they were able to get us in. Our bartender John made me a drink when I wasn't sure what I wanted to drink. I told him the flavors i like and he made me a great drink. We weren't too hungry since it was around 11pm by the time we walked in but my friend had their brownie and ice cream dessert and she enjoyed it, it was rich and decadent. You walk into the bookstore and wait until the host opens up the book shelf to lead you down some stairs into a dimly lit bar area. The entrance is cool, but the drinks are even better. The bartenders here have been very well trained and not only in the US. The bartenders will travel to other countries to learn how to make drinks and taste different spirits from around the world. Of course my first stop in Denver was a speakeasy (literally my first stop in any new town). As we drove by the entrance while looking for parking, I immediately knew I was going to like Williams & Graham. It looked like an old bookstore, but extra cozy and cute. Upon entry, there were a few parties ahead of us but we were seated in a few minutes. The cocktail menu was extensive and honestly they all sounded good. They also serve food and light bites. Staff was really friendly and service was great. The only thing that slightly threw me off was a large party that arrived at the same time as us. They were really loud, obnoxious, and clearly already very intoxicated...just not the crowd that I was really expecting at a speakeasy. Not the fault of the bar though and they handled the large party well. Will definitely be back the next time I visit Denver! Be sure to make a reservation in advance! We came to this cute speakeasy for a group hangout while a friend came from out of town and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food! We came for the speakeasy experience and ended up loving the appetizers! To be honest the drinks were not really my favorite but they were also strong which made me feel better about the price. The service was also quick and friendly which we appreciated. We got the deviled eggs, bone marrow, foie gras, and french fries and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. Loved the flavor of the fatty bone marrow paired with the bread as well as the foie gras . We were a group of 5 so we got seated in a table in a private corner which was so comfy for us! This is a phenomenal bar, phenomenal service, phenomenal drinks. I was told that this is a smash hit and it's really hard to get into, luckily we visited on a weekday. When we passed by on the weekend, the line was out the door (in case you were wondering), but I can understand why. When I wanted to record the video of us entering the door, she noticed that I was trying to record and asked if I wanted to do it again. And we did! The vibes felt like I was drinking in the backroom of someone's library and it was really fun, almost like Harry Potter. The server was really nice and explained everything to us and recommended some of the most popular drinks and the ones he likes. He was really knowledgeable about the drinks, including the type of alcohol and even the little details. All of the drinks were really good and I would consult the server/bartender and you really can't go wrong with a drink, as long as you choose it to your taste. I think the winner of the show was food. We ordered a burger, ratatouille, truffle fries, and mac-n-cheese. For most people, I feel like when you think of truffle fries and mac, it's usually side dishes. However, when they came out, they were entree sized. The food was really good and they were so big, easily shareable. We felt like we had a 4th meal after the bar. I would say something I would change is that the ratatouille had a bit too much tomato paste at the bottom and didn't come with enough bread. The entire staff is excellent and make the experience memorable. Our Groupon of four tried several drinks. The server and bartender will offer recommendations. I tried the Blackberry Sage Smash, which was one of the best drinks I have ever had. You can really taste and smell the blackberries. We shared some appetizers including the hummus plate, fries, and veggie flatbread. All were excellent. The fries, described as malt gastrique parsley had a very unique seasoning, and were perfectly prepared, crispy on tho outside and slightly soft inside. The atmosphere and decor are authentic, including the restrooms. Bartenders are servers are enthusiastic and engaging. A speakeasy that takes on a prohibition theme. Nicely dimmed and decorated ..it was a fun space to be in. The food were all on point, except the Salted Oreo ice cream. It actually tasted too salty with a hint of the Oreo. Kept drinking water after every bite to help dilute it. We couldn't finish it but everything else was satisfying. Instead, the creme brulee waffle met my sweet tooth needs. We sat at the bars and enjoyed the company of James (our primary bartender). This spot is it. It's everything you're looking for in a speakeasy. An easy to find location in LoHi, the front door is well marked. Once inside, you're greeted at a small desk and when they're ready, a book case opens up into a dimly lit bar. The walls are lined with small booths and there's a narrow standing area between those and the bar seats. Not great for a large group, but intimate and cozy. Was really feeling the hip-hop, more modern music mixed in with the old school vintage speakeasy atmosphere. Drinks were ALL delicious. As a huge fan of scotch, it's not often you drink it in a cocktail, and even more rare, is it an enjoyable one. Well, I was blown away with the 2 scotch cocktails I had here. One was called 50 Speys and used pork fat giving it a perfectly savory taste. My favorite of the night was something I believe was called "The Traveler" made with a peated scotch... AWESOME. Had a couple more and not one was disappointing. We took down the bone marrow dish and inhaled their crab artichoke dip. Absolutely delicious, uniquely done, and perfect along with the drinks. Service was great from hostess, servers and bartenders alike. Chatting with the bartender about liquor was a good time; knowledgeable & charismatic without being pretentious. 4.5 stars. I'm a sucker for a speakeasy and had heard the hype around this place. Had a friend in town who also enjoys a speakeasy so we decided to wander over and see if we could get in. First and foremost, do not do what we did. Make that reservation. We happened to luck out because there was a no-show but there were two couples who came in with reservations at the same time. With having gone in on a Monday night, we struck gold. The inside is a low-light, cozy atmosphere that I feel is better for pairs rather than larger groups since it can easily get noisy. Again, with being there on a Monday, things were calmer than on a weekend, but I could see how cramped it would feel on a weekend. The bar staff was superb. Hayden was slinging drinks like it was an art and was very much selling us the food menu. For the unaware, yes, they do serve food. Because we had already had a meal, we opted solely for dessert. The Crème Brûlée Waffle did not disappoint and is reasonably priced for an easy share between two people. We had two drinks apiece. My friend chose the Hades and Happy Accidents, I had the La Coa and the Dear Emilia. The menu is a bit intimidating for the layperson not familiar with different alcohols and liquors, which we remedied with our handy friend Google. The La Coa was surprisingly smoky which I didn't anticipate but makes for a good sipping drink. The Dear Emilia is one of their offerings made with egg white which I couldn't pass up, and was a light, refreshing follow-up to my first drink. Come prepared to drop some cash on these, but they'll be worth it. The available parking is street or nearby lots, so you're better off walking or using ride share, especially if you're choosing to indulge yourself. It was also fun to have the check come in a notebook that other patrons have written a review/poetry/prose/doodled in, and we left our own mark. Williams & Graham, located in the heart of one of the coolest neighborhoods in Denver, is also perhaps the best cocktail bar in the city (see also: Death & Co). There's a faux speakeasy vibe to the place, which on the right night, when everyone's playing along and the entire staff knows your name, can be really cool. I've been told there is often a wait on weekends (I have only gone during the week), and it's easy to see why. The drink menu is diverse and exciting; but, where W&G really shines is the knowledge of the bartenders. Yes, Death & Co has twenty years of expert recipes they can pair with your mood, but the bartenders at W&G will listen, make suggestions, and work with you to create something perfect. This was exactly my experience Wednesday night, where I provided the spirit and the general feel I was going for, and the knowledgeable, friendly bartender crafted one of the best whiskey forward cocktails I've had.
