Ok - so I am REALLY picky about who fixes my car. More picky than I am with say - who cuts my hair,…read moreor who does my nails. Explanation: I drive an old Saab convertible. I have been driving old Saabs for 10 years now and I love them. I could probably fix many of the problems better than a 'generic' (read: non european car specialist) mechanic. Most mechanics look at my car and laugh at me. Literally. A number of them have actually given me a ton of free service because they can't figure out the right thing to drain for a simple oil change (this has gotten me, among other things, a free transmission fluid service and a radiator flush). What this means is that when I need something big done to my nearly 20 year old car that I love dearly, I need to find someone who isn't going to make whatever problem worse than it is. Or send me home with a handful of new problems that I subsequently won't be able to afford to fix. Enter European Motorsport. Other than the guys back at home in CT who have been fixing my many Saabs for as long as I have been driving them, this is the first place I have been in the area that actually knows what they are doing, and won't rake you over the coals the way a dealer will. Don't get me wrong: This doesn't mean they're cheap. What this does mean is that you know they are fixing the problem you actually came in for, using quality (Saab or Bosch, usually) parts, and leaving happy instead of wondering how long its going to take you to notice that something is MAJORLY wrong that wasn't when you went in. For simple oil changes and the like, I usually head to a quickie, no appointment place (because planning ahead is NOT my forte) but for anything requiring a half a brain and actual experience with foreign cars, this is where my old Swedish friend comes. I feel much better knowing the person working on my car has actually seen one before! If you have a Saab, Volvo, BMW, or any other European car that needs some tlc, bring it here.

I can say that he has literally saved me $$$ doing the work that he has done. I brought in my vehicle with a check engine light on at 6:00 pm on a Friday night (yup, after the shop closed) and he worked on it for forty five minutes, fixed the wiring issue and treated me fantastically. I have a 2003 honda accord with 120k miles on it so i expect i'll need to have some maintenance done to the vehicle at times. However, when i pulled out of my parking spot one morning there was a huge oil spot underneath my car. Scary. I took the car in for a look. Within about 20 mins Tim had diagnosed the issue, assured me it wasn't that big of deal, and was able to provide me a quote on the service that was more than reasonable. I went to him thinking the worst and that i would be having to either replace the engine or get a new car. Due to my own travel i wasn't able to have my car worked on that week, but Tim was open to communicating with me via text message to set up an appointment to have my car serviced and he even provided a loaner vehicle. (I talk on the phone for a living so if i can do anything via text or email it's a huge bonus for me) Most importantly I felt like i could trust Tim. I hate going to a mechanic and they try take advantage of the fact i know nothing of vehicles and try to get you to pay for services that aren't necessary. I was completely prepared to have other services performed but Tim assured me that if i wasn't having issues with the vehicle they could probably wait and saved me some money in the end. He could have easily put some extra money in the shops pocket but instead he created a repeat customer. However, they wanted to charge over $1700 to do work that was not needed and unrelated to the trouble code by the diagnostic tool. I said I was going to talk to my husband because we would like to sell the car soon, and we would like to fix what was needed only. He said, because it took him some time to look at the problems (including the ones that were never a problem according to the tool and that we didn't ask) he charged over $300 to run the diagnostics and to clean something. He didn't fix anything. He could have been honest and given the price to do just the work that was needed according to the car diagnostic tool, even though his labor was still pretty expensive. I took it to my trustworthy automotive and he charged 3 times LESS of what Wagner was charging (INCLUDING labor). Sorry, Wagner! We wanted to continue being your customer, but you lost a customer and gained a bad review instead. :(
