I cannot say enough positive things about Sam, the Pasadena store manager and her staff. After having some issues with the Williams-Sonoma website (lost my order), the call center, and other locations (rude salespeople), I had the good fortune of calling Sam regarding fabrics for their Prescott dining stool. Sam was professional, warm, patient, and took complete ownership of my requests. She went out of her way to find and set aside fabric samples for me, answered all of my questions, and informed her staff that I was coming the next day to pick them up! She even made sure I would be assisted if I came into the store on her lunch break. I have always had a good experience browsing the store in person - but this experience was above and beyond positive and gave me confidence once again in purchasing Williams-Sonoma products. read more

This will be the only Williams-Sonoma Store in the San Gabriel Valley, with the soon to be closing of the Arcadia store and Glendale Store closing a few years ago. I find their products unique and mindful of the home chef, with pre-made sauces, quality tools, and professional quality utensils and cookware. I BBQ the most, and have most of their products for the job. twice a year, there are sales to clear inventory, and I find the best deals in August and January. This store is kind of small, and parking on the street costs a few dollars, if you stay awhile. They do validate for parking in the structure, so save some time and parking tickets. read more

I had the most complicated online order to do in the store but fortunately Mary was there to help me. I had picked the wrong blender and placed the order through the store online. I looked at the printed out receipt and realized I had ordered the wrong one. I asked Mary to return this one and place an order for the correct blender. It was a rather complicated, annoying situation, I'm sure. However, she was kind and patient and made the proper calls and clicked on the right boxes and manage to place the order for me. I purchased a gift card online on July 22nd, and was told delivery would be completed by July 27th at latest. That's what my receipt says. To my surprise nothing was delivered, but credit card was charged. I got the confirmation email ,!only after 5 phone calls, and four hours on the phone with several customer service reps. The reps were trying their best, but to my surprise Sonoma wasn't helping them out much at all. So here I am , not knowing if the bride and groom , will receive the gift card before the wedding.! They send bogus confirmation emails, they charge credit cards, and then they try to throw other people under the bus.! I didn't get the confirmation email from the USPS , I got it from William Sonoma , stop passing the buck. Man up and admit your company messed up... I'm stressed, anxious, and panicking.This isn't right, your company has every tool to make this right, and nobody in corporate took the time to correct this issue. Only after I spoke to someone after many hours, only then I was told that a new card would be issued, I will wait to see if we will receive the card before the wedding. I wanted to start by saying that I LOVE the WS brand and have visited nearly every store in Southern California. This one in Pasadena is by far the worst. I had the worst experience I ever had shopping on June 23. 1. I first came into the store and no one even asked me if I needed help. The store was not even busy. 2. I had to chase a women down named Sherry and asked for her help and she was annoyed. 3. Sherry looked up the item and said they did not have it. I had to ASK for it to be delivered. 4. Sherry did not know how to do an online order so she asked me to walk around the corner and type in my own information into their system! Not the luxury experience I have come to expect for WS. They didn't even waive shipping? I could have just bought it online at home. 5. I've always been a big fan of William Sonoma. This year I decided to try their autumn harvest turkey brine for Thanksgiving. It was too late to order online so I ventured to the store in Pasadena. They have had some store closures so this is now the closest to me. I haven't been here in a long time but in the past it has always been a pleasant experience. Not this time - very, very poor customer service, I couldn't believe it. Isn't that the single most important aspect to keeping a brand alive? I've been coming here for the last year and half and found it very whatever but recently after coming here a few times for some cooking wear and kitchen supplies I've notice the change in atmosphere. I was warmly greeted by the staff and I'm not sure how to put it but it's a complete 360 from my last experience in terms of customer service and store atmosphere. The staff seemed happier and more engaged with their customers. Whatever happened or change in management they did it is a step in the right direction, this is Williams Sonoma after all not the $1 store we are talking about. Be aware that you might be double charged or triple charged for gift wrapping fee . I brought a Riedel 3-piece set, a decanter and two whisky glasses. I told the chaser lady, named Nash,I need gift wrapping. She said it would $8.60 dollar PER PIECE. And she charged me $25.50 on my receipt. I confirm with her multiple times if the gift wrapping should be just simple $8.50 for that Riedel set in stead of $8.50 for each single piece in that set.She said she is very sure that s the way they charge for gift wrapping. I shop at willam Sonoma every year during holiday and never heard about this type of gift wrapping fee.I asked her to cancel the gift wrapping. And she just wrap the Riedel item in some tissue and there wasn't any Riedel original box coming with it. I don't feel good to this cashier and I talk to another staff. And as simple as I thought it should be. I paid $8,50 to get gift wrap for that item. That cashier came up to me and ask to wrap it for me. Attached the final gift wrapping look below. What do you think? I think it s gift wrapping plus Asian hate. Hahh. Nash also didn't put the receipt or gift receipt in the bag which becomes the second problem of this purchase. I really can't stand this store. I got physically ill after my last visit. I moved to Pasadena three years ago. I live on a modest budget even though I like nice things. I'm a planner, a list maker, and a budgeter. When I moved, I was starting a kitchen from scratch, which is a daunting task when you are methodical and on a budget. From Williams-Sonoma, I bought a small oval Le Creuset pot. It was on sale, and the purchase was a well thought out one. I was pretty excited to get it. I was treated with disdain in the store and I left feeling uncomfortable. Moreover, when I got home, I found that the pot I had received was visibly used. There were nicks in the pot! I did not return the item, mostly because I did not want to go back to the store and partly because I was so excited about having my first Le Creuset piece. My kitchen has really started to become well equipped. I prefer going to Sur Le Table, where I am always treated with courtesy, patience, and respect. This Christmas, my brother gave me a gift that was from Williams-Sonoma. Begrudgingly, I went into the store to exchange it. Once again, I was treated rudely and with disdain. After being told I could exchange my gift for $3.97, the same person, when called to the register, told me I couldn't. The experience was toxic, and when I got home, I was felt sick to my stomach. This is a beautiful shop as you enter you get samples of foods and chocolates. Very friendly workers and while going through the store found cookie cutters made from copper on sale for $1.99 I am not going to use them as cookie cutters but hammer them and make copper bracelets which are know to make your wrists stronger. I've been meaning to write this review for a long time. I've walked-in to this store many times, and each time, I walk out with the same impression: The employees here are LAME!!! They are not explicitly rude or anything. But, they are snobby, they are not helpful, they seem like they don't want to be bothered, they seem annoyed if you touch their merchandise or ask questions (BTW, they don't know anything about their products), and did I mention snobby (especially the older aged employees)? This review is specific to our recent store visit early afternoon on Saturday, January 2nd To Williams Sonoma Pasadena (Lake) My wife was looking for "Robby's pancakes" and was directed to the shelf. Immediately she noticed that the expiration date showed 2014. She looked for other boxes and found that they were all expired. She walked to the clerk and informed her. The clerk said okay and basically dismissed my wife. My wife continued to walk around the store for good 30 minutes and realized that no one did anything with the expired products on the shelf. My wife was shocked as she left the store. 1) How can they keep such LONG expired items on the shelf. How can that be overlooked 2) Why didn't the clerk remove the items immediately? 3) How come we were not thanked or anything to bring this to their attention? I was in there today for their Techniques Class and had a horrible shopping experience after. I was looking for pasta tongs ,which online said, they had in stock. I asked for help who ended up being the manager. And because I didn't want the overpriced $35 pasta tongs, she tried to give me regular tongs, because apparently I look stupid, which I said, I know those aren't pasta tongs. Her horrible attitude towards me only got worse. I was shopping in the food section and noticed how she actually went out of her way to help this other woman with her questions on a toaster oven. I don't know if it was because I wasn't white, or if I was only looking for $15 pasta tongs, but she made it clear I was beneath her. It was only further underscored at the register when she pushed me off to the newbie sweet girl to ring me. I've been attending the Technique Classes at the Glendale store for the better part of a year and know how great and kind and humble their staff are. Generally see you as a person, not as whatever they feel is below them. My experience with this store is further marred by the fact that the food items I purchases on sale were EXPIRED. This used to be my go-to store and I could always expect a 5-star experience. But, upon two recent visits, it's completely dependent on who is working. Let's talk about the good. I received EXCELLENT service from both Lori and Linnea. Both had a wonderful demeanor: helpful without being overbearing. Pleasant, friendly, and both went out of their way to make sure my shopping experience was a good one. On the other side of the spectrum, there was a terrible salesperson working there. How they are an employee of WS I'll never know. They were loud, rude, condescending, overly-pushy, obnoxious, AND they invaded my personal space multiple times (I'm sorry - but you are not my BFF and you can NOT touch me!). They had the gall to insult my culinary skills when I objected to their suggestions and said why I wasn't interested in that item. I'm choosing to not name names, but if management paid any attention to their staff, they'd know exactly who I'm referring to. Had this been my only WS experience, I'd NEVER return. But, thankfully, I know that is not the level of customer service that WS strives for and usually meets. Also worth noting - if you buy online, you aren't guaranteed the store will accept the return. I was so glad I asked this of the online customer service, because I wasn't sure about a product, and had assumed if I didn't like it I could do an easy in-store return. Glad I didn't find out the hard way! UPDATE: I've received conflicting information regarding returns. The online customer service said it's up to the store. However, the store has assured me they will take returns from items purchased online even if they don't carry the product in the store (I haven't actually returned anything like this yet). I came here for a Giada de Laurentiis cookbook-signing. Though the line was long (wrapped all the way around the store and onto the sidewalk), the workers were efficient and friendly. You could tell that the store had experience with book-signings before, and they handed out baked treats to make the wait sweeter. The store itself is adorable, standing alone covered in ivy with a pastel-tiled roof. Laura is the sweetest, as she helped me prior to the signing when I had absent-mindedly misplaced my tickets. I have shopped at this South Lake Avenue store location for many, many years, but no longer. First off, the staff appears far too busy and far too important to stoop to waiting on customers. Very unfriendly and apparently quite unhappy as well. I received a gift item that had a defect. It is a white Melamine three - bowl set and the larger bowl had a crack. After looking it up on the WS website, apparently this defect is quite common with this same item. Now, here is the issue: It was a recent gift; it had a defect; it clearly has molded into the bottom of each bowl, "Williams Sonoma" so it is clear that it comes from no other store; it costs only $29.95; and' I did not make the purchase. The "assistant" Manager's response, "no receipt, no exchange." Ironically, a Sunny S. wrote a review before my review and they apparently had the same poor experience on the same day and in the same store. Nice to be validated that you weren't being singled out, the store staff was treating others like crap too. Now either this store has a completely unqualified manager (who was also absent) or the entire chain of Williams Sonoma has deteriorated to this substandard level. They won't last much longer with this unreasonable attitude and poor customer service. Also, my sentiment was coincidentally the same as Sunny's and I went over to Old Town Pasadena to shop at Sur La Table. One Sunday, my husband and I walked into William Sonoma on Lake street in Pasadena, and we met Lani. She is so knowledgeable, kind, funny and professional! She told us the pros and cons of the different models by telling us about her experiences. We told her how big our kitchen was, and what we needed. She picked the best one for us from the machines they had, which is a small basic one. She thinks about what's best for customers without up-selling. Wow. I'm really sad to write this review. I worked here for twelve years, starting when the store first opened in The Commons in the early eighties and continuing into the nineties, and of course I shopped occasionally through the following decades. The store I visited Thursday afternoon was a very different operation, not the well-run, interesting store I remember. Though the store wasn't busy, I couldn't get help. There was an associate at the register helping one customer and no one else to be found. other than two or three other browsers. I did find a person working "stock" at the doorway to the "back" room who said she would find someone to help me. I believe she really did try as after disappearing for a moment she found me on the sales floor and told me someone would be with me with cookware soon. After about ten minutes of waiting for help, I left the store. Compared to the days I worked here (both as a sales associate and for a while, assistant manager) customer service here has dropped in quality a very great deal. I hope this was just a bad day. It could be WS is yet another brick and mortar victim of the pandemic. That said, the stock is not nearly as varied or interesting as it used to be, especially dull are the bakeware, tabletop, food, and books...It is a boring store now, especially for Christmas time. read more

I live in the area and every time I've stopped by I've always had a great experience. Staff is extremely helpful and always appear to be in a good mood. However, buyer beware. Noteworthy. This store sells high end cookware. High end is not cheap! That means it's not going to be cheap!
