This Ace has the pie freezer right at the front, by the register, so the process could not have been simpler. It was fully stocked, with over 10 different delectable options. Selected my two pies (Strawberry - Rhubarb and Peach - $20 each), then went to the register right away where a nice staff member was ready to ring me up. Love this store ! Great customer service! I am in the middle of a house remodel and had a leak in our back bathroom, ran into Ace for a few items and Anthony helped me out. Turns out I was able to rent a high powered fan to help dry out the leak area !( I had no idea that was even a thing!) I explained the extent of our repairs and remodel to Anthony and ended up speaking to the owner who was able to special order me dry wall and siding!! I also believe they carry tampered with cards because I didn't get a single good card out of an ETB which is insane right. Great experience here always. Always super knowledgeable and helpful for our home improvement fixes. Living in an older house we are always needing something. Our latest project was fixing drywall on our stairs after we ripped carpet out to get new floors. As long as I am not looking for lumber and other big box items, 99% of what I need is right here, near my home. Love this store.

I placed a store pick up order and it was fulfilled very quickly. I arrived and forgot to utilize the curbside pick up option. I'm glad I did. I walk in to be greeted by to helpful individuals. They had my order conveniently behind the counter. All I need to do is sign. Now wait a minute. The item I ordered is a step stool and it looks beat up with marks all over. I ask if they have another in-stock but they don't. The cashier does have another option and walks me over. The second option looked even worse with dirt built up in the stools surround. They must be either using these or the inventory is as old as the store. The other issue was how silent the guy behind the counter was being when I pointed out the issue with the item. I wasted my time and mileage only to end up empty handed. I called ACE customer service and they wouldn't cover the shipping to get the item I ordered to me. I'm not happy overall with my experience. This was my first and last time shopping with them. I guess I'll stick to Amazon and Home Depot. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to Home Depot! I was refused service and talked down to because I requested a concession (of less than $10) for numerous errors on apart of the store associates in their inability to make BM black paint. The treatment I received by one of the paint associates was atrocious to say the very least. I refer to this associate as CM Quick highlight of the horrific customer service: * The associate CM made disparaging comments about the person who previously mixed my paint.CM said the previous associate was unqualified. Granted there might be some truth to it because he completely messed up my paint color but if that is true, why was he allowed to make paint? * The don't do color matching * CM was unable to match the color of paint the store's associate previously made. He was frustrated by the situation, understandably so b/c the previous paint associate didn't list the color code * Unable to recreate the color, CM advised me to down grade to a cheaper paint with an already made color * I was ok with this. CM handed me the can of the new paint. I asked him to shake it (painting 101) he seemed annoyed that I would request that * During the paint shaking process, I said to CM, "Can I get a free paint brush for all of the errors and the huge inconvenience" * To which CM went off on me and said I was wrong because he was giving me a credit in the difference in the paint costs (mind you I ordered BM black, they made grey, and when I brought it back they couldn't make the black), how dare I ask for a paint brush; I was greedy and ungrateful. (He wasn't giving me anything I was owed the difference in paint prices because they sold me a defective un-usable product. I didn't ask for cheaper paint, CM told me to get the cheaper paint) * CM became so irate, he aggressively shoved the botched paint can across the counter and said "you're not getting anything from here! Go to Home Depot!" * I took the defective paint to the counter and got a refund and went to Home Depot where they were happy to color match the paint and I got Behr premium, which was half the cost and zero hassle read more

As you know I have criticized Ace hardware recently. So I wrote a review and received a nice note from the new owner who promised me he would rectify my complaint. Well yesterday 11/13/2023 I did go back and was recognized immediately by a young man who greeted me , ask if I need help all with in two seconds. He hardly gave me a chance to reply. He was great. Then I got to the register and this young lady was just as kind welcoming and happy individual. So I am so glad to see that they stepped up their customers service. Kudos to you guys read more

What great service and helpful staff. Took my screen door there to be repaired. Was told that it would take about a week and was called the following day that it was complete. This was one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had. I went in thinking there might be some super sales since it's Black Friday. I wanted to get a cover for my new Traeger grill. First of all, the prices aren't marked at all. Then the staff at the front seemed bothered when I wanted to know the price. Took about 15-20 minutes to get a price check only to find that there was no deal and the item that was 20% off at another ace hardware was not honored at this one. Waste of time... It's difficult for a retail establishment to impress me nowadays, so we were presently surprised by the service at this Ace Hardware in Tierrasanta. We'd made an online order and drove 12 miles to pick it up at this store. From the guy on the phone beforehand to the staff and owner in the store, everyone was pleasant, professional and ready to help. One guy with a mohawk and tattoos was especially memorable. It was really apparent they had plenty of staff available, which seems rare nowadays in many other stores. They even had a store pet dog, which I always love. It's one of those stores you can poke around in for half and hour and see lots of unusual things or items you think to yourself "When I need one of those, I'll know where to come". They have everything from gifty items like note pads and magnets to houseware decor, garden chairs, outdoor chimes, paint (Including a relatively new line by Magnolia), shower curtains, toilet seats and all kinds of widgets and tools. They're located in a busy strip mall with free parking out front. read more

When I try to return it, they said they couldn't accept the return because the product had a an Ace sticker on it which states not returnable. This is SCAM! The manager Brandon was super rude, disrespectful and had zero understanding of what customer service means. This is the worst store in our neighborhood and not recommended at all ! read more

Not many ACE hardware stores around but sometimes you can find the things that the BIG BOX STORES don't carry. It's great to just browse and the staff has been both times I've been here very helpful and friendly. Update 05/12/20: shortly after posting my initial review Mike, the owner of the store asked me to call him and give him a chance to make the situation right. Mike was very apologetic, told me that he spoke with Mikey about his behavior and loaded the pool into my car when I stopped by to pick it up the next morning. I love supporting small businesses, and this is why! The issue was quickly addressed and corrected. Thanks Mike! Awful, awful, awful. I placed an online order for a pool for my 17 month old and received an email about 15 minutes after I paid saying that my order was ready for pick up. I loaded my kid into the carseat & left to pick up the pool. When I got there, there was a sign in front of the door saying that the store was closed for the day. While I understand our circumstances are different due to Covid,I was obviously disappointed when I saw the sign but also saw two associates standing inside the store. I knocked on the window and told one of the associates, a woman who claimed to be the owner, that the pool sitting right next to the door was mine. The woman asked me what my name was & I told her my name. Before she could say anything else a young man by the name of Mikey YELLED across the store "no no no we're not opening the doors absolutely not". It was so rude & obnoxious I laughed at first because I thought he was being sarcastic. I looked at the woman and told her I received an email saying that my order ready for pick up. The woman claims but she called me, however I don't have a missed call or voicemail from today at all. I then brought up how extremely rude Mikey was and asked her if she was okay with her employees talking to paying customers that way. She tried to give me a sob story about him being stressed and overworked. Okay?? I guess stress means you can be rude to a customer now. So much for "we are all in this together"! I will be canceling my order since obviously these people are giving customers the run around and are OK with speaking to people in a degrading manner. read more
