I also got some really good sugar cane from the same spot that had the coconut. This my second time coming and the empeñadas are always so good, I always get the churros as well. Tried mother's milk for the first time, it's vodka and coconut water if I'm remembering correctly, It was very refreshing. Smorgasburg has changed a lot over the years. With rotating vendors and trends, it's gotten more expensive. Good variety if you come with a sizable group of friends to share everything, but it gets so busy and hard to weave through the crowds. Also really long lines for a lot of stands. read more

I'm so glad I brought my family here! Unlike the Prospect Park, this location has benches and tables, which is huge! Easy to find, several port o potties available and a separate area with an ID check for alcohol, where you can bring food inside (there are picnic tables inside here as well), but cannot bring drinks out. This year there were so many Japanese vendors, which were incredible, some places just serving drinks like coffees and flavored lemonades, and several dessert places. Come hungry and with $$$, as you'll be paying food festival like prices. I can't wait to come back next year! read more

Decided to hit up smorgasburg for their Diwali festival on Saturday and I fully enjoyed the experience, even with the rain. So many different vendors, foods, flavors, and all round experience. Just imagine the aroma in the air of all those different flavors and spices. Service was surprisingly quick for the most part. Only had one almost an hour long wait. Lots of workers moving around and making sure the place is kept clean, which was really appreciated. Some venders were a bit overpriced for the portion/sizes but that's the festival prices I guess Vendors I tried: The Monkey King- tried everything on their menu and enjoyed it all. First time having "fuchka" and I love it, especially the spice and flavors in the dipping sauce. Red Hook Lobster pound- had the lobster BLT. Soo good just maybe overpriced for the size Pig Me Up- moo grob. Really yummy melt in your mouth fried pork belly with crunchy ends C Bao- had the duck and pork baos. Really good flavors and the pork was huge inside. Just think maybe some sauce would've been good since the bao bun is dry (though soft). Oyster co- oysters were nice and fresh. Looking at other reviews of Smorgasburg, it seems like they update their vendors semi-frequently. This is a nice area of Williamsburg so I'd recommend checking this out at least once with some friends. A little pricy but lots of different vendors and options to satisfy. I got a Wagyu onigiri ($15). The meat was really good but it was mostly just a piece of beef on some rice. I did like how the rice soaked up the beef juices but it was worth probably half of the price. Tried also the bannana pudding which was refreshing, but didn't blow me out of the water. Every time we go, there's always something free being handed out, such as golden kiwis and free sparkling water (this is definitely earlier in the day when they first open around 11). I would skip on the skewers tbh, the meat was not that tender and it was a bit pricey for what we got. I would also recommend bringing cash because I think some places do a small discount. Cool time on this visit. The burger from Virginia Smashburginia was my favorite! I got the class double (I believe) and it hit on everything I needed. The bacon was the perfect addition. The loaded fries were a bit too much. I'm not sure if it's because of the cheese sauce on top because I wasn't a fan honestly. If I tried them again it would be for their regular fries. I had not been to this in a few years. I was pretty disappointed in the size. I was expecting more styles and more variety of cuisine. Some vendors mentioned it is usually bigger but perhaps due to vacation time and other festivals some of the stalls chose to be elsewhere last weekend. I love being able to try smaller amounts of food from a large variety of local vendors, and every year has a good mix of new and returning vendors. There is something for everyone! The view of the water is also very pretty. Because there are only so many picnic tables in the park, I would recommend bringing a picnic blanket if you're going to come in the middle of the day, when it's the most crowded. read more

I didn't take a pic of the lobster blt roll from Red Hook Lobster, which is one of my top three. The peach and passionfruit tea was so good from C Bao, which was my first time trying it. I love the fruit that's in it. I suggest trying the Truffle Fries and the Bulgogi Bun. The scenery by the water is great to take pics and the view of the city is beautiful. Saturday Vibes! I finally popped my Smorgasburg cherry!!!!! As soon as you enter the park you're hit with a mixed bag of scents from all of the food stations. There's so many options I had no clue where to start. So I let my nose lead me and the rest was a stuffed history LOL. I started with chicharron topped with cheese and a pineapple glaze from a Columbian stand. WOW!!! The party of flavors and big portion almost took me out. It was soooooo good. I knew I needed to pace myself so I decided to share some with my boyfriend LOL. Next I moved onto a lobster roll from Red hook Lobster ( we know that's a slam dunk). Moving along to oxtail empanadas from a Jerk stand and chicken skewers from a Japanese stand. Everything was full of flavored, nothing disappointed. I washed everything down with strawberry juice inside of a pineapple and a ginger lemonade. Some vendors had lines longer than others but everything moved along at a decent pace. This place was chaos (in a great way). I came while visiting a friend who lives in New York. We came on a terribly windy day and unfortunately were dodging flying tents. The lines were also quite long. While more than worth it for Bona Bona, it wasn't necessarily worth some of the other vendors- so choose wisely. I was happy to see that most vendors were accepting Apple Pay, which is so convenient. Some places were even offering a discount if you used Apple Pay. (Sorry, not Google Pay) There was one vendor selling ramen and takoyaki. He was by himself and I felt soooo bad for him as he was preparing to take my order and making the $9 takoyaki. Poor dude. Grab some food + drinks, find a spot to picnic at, and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the great weather and view. My favorite go-to is the Vermont Maple Lemonade. A must try is their classic lemonade and mango lemonade. Back then, they would sell butternut squash donuts that were absolutely delicious. I don't see them anymore which is disappointing because they were perfect to pair with the lemonade. Parish Po' Boys - love their shrimp po' boys. It's jam packed with shrimp and very flavorful. D'Abruzzo - their chicken skewers are juicy and charred to perfection. So Sarap - A Filipino stall that served classic street food. It's hard to capture the essence of this festival without going there yourself but trust me when I say that Smorgasburg should be at the top of your list at least one given weekend out of the year. There's only one stand that serves alcohol but they offer margaritas, sour beers, and special IPAs among other selections. So glad that I was able to squeeze this place into my NY trip itinerary. Small Saturday food market with an amazing view of the NYC skyline. Food market prices are typical for NA food markets ($10 for a bite-sized bao yes yes.....). I got the Dutch fries from the Home Frite food stand. Pretty good deal based on how much fries were given. Very crispy fries as well. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a heavy snack as opposed to a meal. By the time that I left at 12 pm (went at opening and would've stayed longer if I didn't have a bunch of other places to go that day!) all of the benches near the food stands were taken, so go early! There is a huge spacious lawn if you'd rather go in picnic style. No admission fee. Easily accessible via L train (10 min walk from the station). Definitely worth checking out! I will say, that some of the food stalls are hit or miss, but all in all this is a really fun activity especially if you're a foodie. This place gets pretty packed the later in the day you go. However, beware because some of the food stalls actually sell out before smorgasburg actually closes. There is plenty of seating available (picnic tables), but also a huge grassy area with an amazing view of the city, so if the weather is nice bring blankets. It's really fun to walk around and check out all the stalls. Some of the ones I tried, which again were hit or miss are: -Oh K Dog: Korean fried corn dogs. I got the half mozzarella half hot dog. It's decent! But I was hoping it was a whole hot dog covered in cheese, but literally half of it is just cheese and then the other half is the hotdog. Petisco Brazuca: Ordered the trio of empanadas and unfortunately I was not a fan. There was hardly any filling, mostly just dough. And the actual filling was VERY bland. -Oconomi: I loved this one! So much flavor and super filling. I got the modern yaki with kimchi and cheese. So good! Recommend! -Thai Bird: Huge pieces of chicken and pineapple and the breading is really flavorful. Recommend! -C Bao: got the pork belly bao and really enjoyed it. Recommend! Bao Tea House: got the starry night tea drink mostly because it's so pretty, but it was actually pretty tasty too. Smorgasburg was such a vibe!!! I arrived early to beat the crowd because I knew that the lines would be long, and I'm happy that I did because I was able to order everything I wanted with ease. It was a huge turn out. You have to try the lobster roll from oyster house. It was so yummy! I would definitely go back just to get another one. It was $22 dollars which is a little pricey, but it was so worth it. There is plenty of seating, and they also have a seperate bar area with seating as well. The bar serves beer, wine, and margaritas, but it doesn't have a big selection of drinks, but it served its purpose. If you order a drink, you have to remain in the bar area because you're not allowed to walk around with your drink, but you can bring your food in the bar area if you like. There are over 30+ vendors all serving up some great cuisines from all over the world. There was so many things I wanted to try, I'll definitely have to stop by again. Went to the Smorgasburg, Prospect Park a few years ago and decided to come here with some friends to try out this location too since they just reopened today. They open at 11 and there was already a long line around 10:40 so come early if you can (1k capacity limit). Parking is a nightmare because there is nothing but residential homes and apartments surrounding this place. You can pay for parking at the garage across the street to make it easier or if not, be prepared to circle the neighborhood for at least 10 minutes. There were 4 of us and we decided to share so that we can get a tasting of everything without getting stuffed. The pineapple bird, which consists of Thai fried chicken in a pineapple, yakitori, meat buns & baos, fried anchovies, Cajun popcorn shrimp, juices, ice cream and mangoes. All the food had nice flavors and nothing was below the standard grade as expected. There were a good amount of vendors, which accepted touchless payment methods but also some that only accepted cash. There were 32 vendors (more will be added in the coming weeks) and the setup was very ideal with plenty of picnic like seating throughout the entire event. One negative was that there was no shaded seating areas so don't forget to wear suncreen or you'll get burned. All in all, this was a great event where you can try a variety of food & drinks in 1 location for a decent price. Definitely a must try at least once for all foodies. read more

So glad to see that Smorgasburg is back and running! We went the first day that it opened two weekends ago and was shocked to see how long the line was but we were glad that it moved pretty quickly. We had the fried anchovies and shrimp in a cone which was so delicious. I love the unique sauce that comes along with it and how it has a slight kick to it. The coxinha was good but definitely very filling. We had chicken ones and margherita ones and they were both really good. Our favorite is definitely the pineapple juice from John's Juice. I love how they have the $1 refill option and how the juice is made of real fruits. I was hoping to add blueberries to my pineapple juice but since we visited this vendor later in the day, most of the items were sold out. Definitely get there early to get the most amount of food choices and not be disappointed about things being sold out. read more

The Covid-safe version with online ordering is less spontaneous than the classic configuration but the setup was decent and the food is still excellent. Food is placed in bags on a rack, with zero contact or hassle. On a weekday tables were abundant at the park; using my Nate Silver-esque analysis I'd predict a reasonable chance of finding space on a weekend. At C Bao, the wonton with chili oil was superb. The spice level approached the high side of medium. Try the passion fruit tea. At Yakitori Tatsu I got the awesome seafood bento - consisting of eel, octopus balls and scallops. read more

As a huge foodie, I've been really wanting to go to this food festival for a while now! I finally got to go last weekend, and I had such a fun time. There were so many different food vendors, so everyone would be able to find something they like. I got to try a few different things, although I would've loved to try more if I didn't get so full. My favorite was the ice cream, which we got for dessert. We went towards the end of the event, so they didn't have many flavors left. I got the rainbow cookie though, and it was amazing. The toasted marshmallow on top made it even that much better. I also really enjoyed the oysters! I'd love to come back again sometime this summer to try more things. My only complaint would be how packed this gets. Some of the lines were so long, and it was hard to find a seat to eat.
