We went to this business for homesteading our property. It was such a good decision because our property taxes went down. Everyone here was very friendly, and the business itself was very clean. We signed in at a kiosk and we were helped promptly by Lyz. She was very knowledgeable and very kind and very patient. The process itself was very fast and easy. I am dedicating the one star that I was forced to give here to the patient woman in my hearing whose tone said, "I know this is unfair", but who was not allowed to change it or even be honest about it out loud. I tried the remote protest hearing process this year, and what a mess! Note to anyone without bionic ears: in a phone hearing, you can't hear what's going on, they bombard you with endless, garbled tax code speak, and they're suddenly the fastest-speaking southerners God made. Good luck following anything! Somehow much worse, though, is that WCAD dropped so many balls and made so many mistakes leading up to my hearing that we spent most of my hearing time trying to fix WCAD's many problems: incorrect tax agent on file, lost WCAD paperwork, shifting affidavit guidelines, poor tech, wrong hearing information in my tax portal, ETC. This meant that it took even longer out of my work day to be treated unfairly and ultimately fail at a WCAD process that was specifically designed for all of us ratepayers to fail at. And to add insult to injury, none of my protest evidence was deemed admissible because three (3) words were missing from my notarized affidavit. So endless WCAD dysfunction and mistakes have NO consequence, and 3 missing words cost me all. But I see now in hindsight, honestly, that it truly doesn't matter if they're wrong, that they made a bunch of careless mistakes, and that the result of both harms someone: they will win and the ratepayer will lose. The game is rigged, says this citizen who used to be wholeheartedly pro-tax and is now entirely anti-tax. Well done, WCAD ~ you practically wrote this for me! read more

He took the time to look up my address after I left a message and was ready with my answer when he returned the call. I appreciate the was he handled things and his quick responses and made what I thought would be a difficult process very easy. Another great experience! I was greeted warmly upon entering the building for my tax protest appointment. The receptionist was so friendly & genuine! I found a seat and my name was called shortly. I met with Tyler Chandler. He was so kind and courteous! He listened to what I had to say and answered all of my questions. The rating for WCAD is zero stars: the purpose of Williamson county is to price out anyone they decide to single out, and minorities. My question is how long do you think your county will last if you drive out all that income base out ($150K-$300K), and over 65 years of your county? We all aspire to have the blessing of living and able to retire at 65. I moved to The Republic of Texas over 40 years ago. Bottom line, give plenty of thought if you're retiring and decide to purchase property in Williamson county. Some of the appraisal dispute workers were not following the displayed waiting schedule of home owners and their appointed time. Complaints to the young "manager" of preferential treatment to non-minorities were met with a smirk and a suggestion that the senior complainant was perhaps not seeing correctly. Wilco should be past the days of this type of racist behavior by its tax-payer-dollar paid managers. read more

This Appraisal District tax staff's attitude is horrible. Very cold to me. That made me feel I owe him some money and forgot to return. I showed my data from my current public appraiser's record. He said his data is more accurate since his data is 2004 and mine is 2009. I don't know if he ever passed his match logic test in school. So I pointed my finger to his monitor and tried to tell him what he said is wrong. Then suddenly he acted crazily and yelled at me "don't touch my computer!". I was scared and don't know if he will beat me for that. And he walked me out soon after that with the upset face. At least I got out of tax office safely. I'm scared to go back to talk to the government staff now. It was a miserable experience. read more

Talked to Janice on the phone and she was polite and helpful with all my questions. When I arrived at the building, the parking lot was empty. When I walked in, I was greeted by a new and nicely cooled facility. There was no line whatsoever since I came in at a non-peak season. Susan was the woman who assisted me. She was very polite and helped me through the entire process. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. More like 5 minutes really. Who knew homesteading would be so easy? I asked if it was typically this quiet and she said the wait is never long if you come in before April. It gets crazy busy starting in April when they send out appraisal notices up until end of summer. Then it'll get crazy around tax season because people will mistakenly come here instead of the actual tax office which is another facility downtown. I was so happy with my experience that I filled out a customer survey card on the spot and dropped it in the comment deposit box. Overall, five-star experience! I've been impressed with all the local government facilities in Georgetown in dealing with moving here. Great job, Georgetown! read more

Their appraisers do no listen to you. I brought stack of paperwork proving lower valuation and they just come up with another excuse why they won't lower your valuation. It's been getting worse the past few years and now to a point where you do have to go to ARB and eventually court to fight their unfair ways. WCAD got angry and tried to bully (and made Yelp remove) when I pointed out their Appraisers are licensed by TDLR Texas Department of License and Regulation (the state). You cannot use TDLR to complain about your property appraisal, but you CAN you use them to file a complaint about any individual appraiser at WCAD you feel is not professional or break any rules under their licensing rules by TDLR. They have to give you their license number and display their license. That is your right as a citizen working with TDLR licensed personnel. This place is a joke. My father who is in his 70s had an appt today. We walked up ,followed the instructions on the sign as far as checking in,waited outside in the heat for 30 min just to get inside when our text message was received and have the employee lisa at the front turn me away because they were only allowing one person go in to meet with an appraiser. If lisa saw both of us standing outside,why didnt she make this aware before we went in? I guess that would be good customer service, right? Nowhere on the paperwork does it say only one person could meet with the appraiser. When I called to check in, the employee also did not make this information available. I called and spoke to colleen,alvins assistant who stated there were signs inside the building with this information. Well if we cant be inside the building ,how exactly are we suppost to read those signs,colleen? I will also add I did a temp assignment here about 2 yrs ago and the employees miriam moore and lyz jones were absolutely Horrible towards the temps. The attitude as if they were better because they were full time employees and some of us were not was very apparant.Miriam constantly complained about the calls that were sent to her. She didnt comprehend why the temps couldnt answer the questions the homeowners had. However,our job was to transfer these calls. I eventually learned that miriam is married to one of the supervisors & then understood why she acted as if she was better than us. This place has an AWFUL support staff,Not all, but ALOT. The appraisers are all kind, friendly and do their job to the best of their ability. Thank you Gilbert Garcia for being a professional with my father,he stated his meeting went smooth. read more
