Beautiful wedding day dinner at an amazing place! My sister went the route of having just a wedding dinner and we were lucky to find a place to accommodate what she was looking for. Willoughby's was great to work with. We had about 30 couples that attended the dinner. Willoughby's offered two spaces to have the dinner at. They have a room in the front of the restaurant that was able to fit the amount of people we had or they have a new private room that is closed off from others dining at the restaurant. My sister chose the option of sitting at the front of the restaurant because it had a little bit more space and didn't feel like you just needed to sit at your assigned seat all night. Willoughby's helped with decorations that we brought in and setting up the tables which all looked so nice. Honestly, the space itself is so elegantly decorated that there wasn't much decorating that even needed to be done! They also offered a menu to review in advance. You select a four course meal with two appetizers that my sister was able to select for everyone (this was set up at a private able during cocktail hour). Appetizers were Wasabi Thai Calamari (can't rave enough about this!) and Charcuterie. Second course was a Caesar salad, third course there were three options to pick from- Filet Mignon, Frenched Chicken, and Lobster Ravioli. I personally ordered the Lobster Ravioli which was fantastic but everyone else also raved about the other main dishes, and lastly was a small dessert. The evening was perfect and the staff were incredible. They were so attentive and accommodating to all the guests. I can't speak enough about them! Willoughby's deserves 5 stars! Quiet and romantic, just what we wanted. We shared a huge fresh sea food appetizer on ice with shrimp, crab, lobster and oysters. Absolutely phenomenal! As was the rib eye and cheese cake. The prices were, in our opinion very reasonable. And the service also rates 5 stars. We went to Willoughby's for a special occasion and weren't disappointed. Although they are known as a steak house my wife and I both had the Chilean Sea Bass (by no means was it ill-tempered, Austin Powers). It was done to perfection and the sides complemented to fish. The organic carrot cake was a great ending to our dinner. The wine list has two sections - what would call a normal restaurant list with a fine selection of wines, and the wine cellar list, with wines from boutique vineyards. We had a chardonnay from a small Napa vineyard we've visited and don't find at many restaurants in the East. It was superb, to match the service of our server. read more

My wife and I tried this place last night for a special dinner. Given the number of stars they had on Yelp my expectations were high. I called and made a reservation for 7:30. My wife and I arrived at 7:15 and there were plenty of open tables yet the hostess instructed us to "have a seat at the bar". 7:35 (still plenty of tables open - the same ones in fact), I go check on our reservation. "You can go back to the bar and I'll come get you when we're ready...", ok. 7:45 we pay for our drinks and go stand in front of the host station, a different hostess asks us if we have a reservation and seats us in one of the SAME tables that had been open since we walked in which seemed bizarre to me but I'm still holding out for a great experience. We get seated and our drink orders easily took 10 min and no bread for the table until we ASK for it 25 minutes in... we order our appetizer at the same time we ordered our drinks and they didn't arrive until about 40 minutes into being seated. The killer part is we didn't order anything that required any real prep time - 6 oysters and a charcuterie board. I wrestled with the idea of just calling the manager and letting them know how our night went but then thought it better to Yelp it and see if they're listening. Our entrees were good for the most part although I would not Oscar my filet again and scraped most of it off because it was a bit off. Portion size was good which earned it the two stars but the SERVICE needs real help. Also of note: my filet ordered medium was rare, our server had no idea what was actually ON the charcuterie board, and described the oysters as "rather large" when in fact they were six of the smallest oysters I've ever eaten. We had a waiter named "Paul" and the service was outstanding. I don't write reviewed until I've visited the restaurant several times and I must admit, Willoughby's is my new addiction. The tomahawk streak is fantastic. The Prime NY strip is the best steak in Berks County and I know this. The cold seafood platter is fantastic but I do wish they swapped the Atlantic crab claws for the African ones that generally taste better. Service is consistently great and so is the food. First, we made reservations for 5 when we arrived at our time they said our table was being prepared and the restaurant was just about empty. So we waited for almost 10 minutes. After we were seated and ordered our drinks it took a while for them to get them to us. I got the French onion soup as an appetizer and it tasted tomato based. It was like no other French onion soup I have ever had. For my entree I ordered the lobster ravioli. The lobster tail was so incredibly over cooked I could barely get it out of the shell and when i did it was like rubber. The ravioli it's self were good. read more

My wife and I went there for our 57th wedding aniversary. It was fantastic. They wished us a happy aniversary when we arrive and our waiter presented us with a small bottle of champagne. We had oyersters on the half shell and the shrimp crab coctail. For our entree we both had the lobster in ravioli along with the lobster tail and scallop. God forbid you ask for more than 4 chips with your tuna tartare, and you'll be up-charged. It just feels stuffy and forced and for what? I made a dinner reservation at Willoughby's On Park so that I could take my fiancee there to celebrate after I proposed. Our positive experience began even before arriving, when I called to request a toast for our arrival. The woman I spoke with (I believe her name was Erica; I am so sorry if I'm mistaken) was very helpful in figuring out a sparkly and tasty non-alcoholic alternative to champagne for me since I don't drink. I felt a little silly when I was calling, but she put me at ease immediately. Their customer service was certainly on point throughout our entire experience. The staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special. Megan was our server, and even though it was a busy Friday night, she made us feel like we were the only customers there. She immediately congratulated us when bringing out our champagne and sparkling cranberry juice to toast with, excitedly asked about our engagement, and later offered to take our picture. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection, as were my fiancee's scallops. We shared the featured dessert (chocolate and sponge cakes with chocolate sauce and pears), which was out of this world! They are clearly held to a high standard. The menu is very diverse, they offer high-end cuts of beef, an array of seafood, and a well stocked, not over priced wine, craft beers, and speciality whiskeys. Their crab cakes look like they took a pound of fresh lump crab, turned the container over on the plate, and bake it to perfection, absolutely no filler and delicious. Disappointed. Been here many times over the last few years and always enjoyed our meal and service. Have ordered the Chilean Sea Bass on quite a few of those occasions and experienced a delectable, buttery fish, as would be expected in a fine dining restaurant with quality fish. Tonight I needed a knife to cut it. Very disappointed. Told my husband they must have a new chef. Told our waitress and the manager, in a very polite way after being asked if we enjoyed our meal and telling them I did not want to take home the 2/3 remaining portion. Further disappointment ensued. After being asked if she could provide me a dessert on her, and responding "no, thank you" because I am watching my sugar intake, there was no other compensation offered. She did ask me what I had to drink, so she could compensate that, but it remained on my bill. This establishment considers itself fine dining. I used to consider it fine dining. I do not any longer. What a shame, because fine dining is certainly seeming to become obsolete. She did mention a new chef, so we called that right. They are opening a restaurant across the street as well. Dropped in during a trip to visit my folks. The food was very good and the service was great! The place was easy to find and it was relaxing. Just what we needed after driving in from Philly and a long airplane trip from CA. We all ordered steak, and I ordered a cocktail from the bar. Everything was great and filling. This was a home run. We've been visiting colleges throughout PA and it's been a struggle to find good restaurants. This was a bit pricey but worth every dollar. I'd rather pay more and walk away happy than have a cheap meal that makes me sick. First they were very accommodating because we could only get there at 9:15, most diners were leaving but they didn't rush us. Chuck our waiter was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He had spot on recommendations and was accommodating with some substitutes- my husband had the St. Louis cut steak with scallops and he LOVED it, I had the scallops with risotto and they were cooked perfectly- also we had the grilled Caesar salad and it had perfect seasoning and homemade dressing! It's absolutely gorgeous and doesn't even feel like you're in Berks county. Our server, Chuck, was fantastic! He was so kind and very attentive to us the entire evening. I rotated between two wines that our server recommended and I'm glad I tried them! The food..... AMAZING! My fiancé and I started with the shrimp and crab cocktail. The shrimp (3) were huge, the seafood fresh, and the cocktail sauce had great flavor. We also tried the mozzarella prosciutto (4) which was so good! It was served slightly warm. My fiancé and I then ordered a steal each. I got the dry age Kansas City steak. He did the dry age bone-in ribeye. We were just at the Chicago Cut steakhouse. The steaks here beat those! They had just enough char and were filled with flavor. He ordered the house sauce and I got the Gorgonzola cheese sauce on the side. We barely used it because the steak was awesome. We ordered a side of wasabi lobster mashed potatoes to share and they were so good! It might be a bit pricey but the quality is hard to beat. We will definitely be returning. We ate at the bar and our bartender Jim was simply outstanding. He prepared excellent cocktails and was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgable. My wife had the NY Strip and a lobster tail and I had the Porterhouse. Both steaks were cooked to perfection-juicy and flavorful. The lobster tail was great. The decor is swanky and romantic-perfect for a date or a special occasion. Berks County needed a high end steakhouse like this. Do yourself a favor and go to Willoughby's on Park. Nice and dark inside. Nice bar area. There was a DJ when I visited. The waitress told me they also have live music. Everything seemed clean. The service was very good. My friend had the rack of lamb. She said it was good and it looked delicious. I had the bone-in pork chop. Good pork chop but I've had better. The French onion soup was "interesting" ... didn't knock my socks off. It was sweet, if French onion soup can be sweet. I would say that my only complaint would be the price. I'm not one of those cheap Pennsylvania Duchies. I have no problem dropping serious cash for great food. What I am saying is that I've had better pork chops for literally half the price. $30 for a pork chop dinner is pricey. Perhaps I'd go back and try a steak. All in all a very nice place; just seems a little pricey for the area. read more

If you think this is a great steakhouse, you should visit some others. I regret not going to Anthony's coal fired pizza or even a drive through for dinner. The actual location is great looking. Very nice freestanding building, nice decor inside. The looks are right for a great steakhouse. I wish this place was a great steakhouse. Lobster Bisque- flavor was ok at best, tasted like it had just come out of the microwave with some dry chunks of lobster in the center of a massive bowl. Definitely not a good bisque. Wedge Salad- large wedge as most steakhouses, but the dressing was too light, not enough flavor, although the balsamic drizzle was a nice touch. The cherry tomatoes were probably on the way to the trash until I ordered that salad. beyond mushy. The bacon was chewy, not crispy like it should be. If it were not for the terrible tomatoes, and the chewy bacon, this salad would actually be good. For entrée I ordered the 20oz dry aged bone in rib eye. It's served with fingerling potatoes that look like they've sat around drying for quite some time, and the most incredible looking asparagus, which unfortunately was near raw. The steak itself is ok at best, advertised as dry aged bone in, but it's not a very high quality cut. You can get a better steak at a whole foods supermarket. They hit the temperature perfectly, which was the only good part of the entrée. Quite a shame that this meal was so underwhelming. I won't remember the name of this place in the morning and I will not be back here. 2 stars- half decent salad, good service at the bar and fair prices on their Scotch. read more

Had dinner here for a family wedding and the entire experience was top notch. The food was great, the service was superb, the tables were nicely done, and the atmosphere was perfect. The staff gave the bride & groom a small complimentary bottle of champagne which added to the many pluses of the evening. The menu is broad enough to appeal to most without being overly nouveau and the beef dishes are particularly good. Desserts were excellent as well. Overall, Willoughby's is highly recommended. The only thing I might add is that the bar area can tend to be a bit noisy and is immediately next to a number of the dining tables so if you want to have a quieter meal you may do well to request to sit on the opposite side of the restaurant from the bar. read more

We went on Sunday 7:30pm the restaurant is surprisingly empty but they do have good food for fine dining experience. Maybe a bad location away from the center of the city. I've been to Willoughby's multiple times and everything is generally great... except for the soups. I've had both the French onion and lobster bisque which will leave you clenching for water. I have never had anything more salty in my life. When I ordered the lobster bisque the waitress said people tend to find it overly salty. I should have listened to her. Try to avoid the soup unless you want the overkilling taste of salt in your mouth for the rest of the evening. I also had a speciality raspberry mojito and it did not have mint. The bartender needs to review the definition of a mojito. read more

They cook their steaks to perfection. I think you should ask to not add any additional salt to the steak though because it was really salty. Do not order the bisque. It tastes as if you dumped an entire salt shaker into it. I think this place is a bit overpriced for the food you get but you're really paying for the ambiance. read more
