By far the best cleaners in Lincoln Park. Their prices are dirt cheap and Mrs. Kwon and the other women that work there are the sweetest. As far as cleaners go, i must have lucked out living so darn close to Willow.... You really don't get much better than $1 for a wash and press for work shirts. To be quite honest they claim to charge $3 for dry cleaning, but whenever i go pick up my shirts, i always pick up 10 shirts and my bill is $10... They really do care about getting repeat customers so they will charge you close to NOTHING for your alterations. I had a pair of 70's golf pants that i found for a few bucks on ebay that I wanted to add belt loops to, add hems, and pull in the crotch and waist (they were a size 40 and I am a size 36)... they did all that work, AND launder and pressed them for $15. Ill bet that same job would have cost me 60 dollars anywhere else. I wish i knew their names, i think the mexican girl that works there her name is evelyn. Overall, I think this is a case of them getting too popular and then not being able to keep up with the quality. Especially because after trying to pick them up twice because they weren't ready, I was told that they have more alterations than they can handle. Regardless, I won't be back. I needed my suit jacket sleeves shorted; they cut off two of the buttonholes and then re-attached the buttons back on the other side. Buttons without buttonholes?!?! So stupid looking, especially since they were sewed on crooked! Not only that but when they cut off the buttons they got some of the fabric, so the fabric is starting to rip apart, which was made worse by the fact that they didn't sew part of the hem under. I also needed a pair of pants taken in (a lot), when I picked them up she told me it would be no charge. I just thought they were being really nice, but it wasn't until I threw them on as I walked out the door the next day and realized after I got to work that they had decided not to alter them!! I had to spend the whole day dealing with a pair of pants that wouldn't say up. Complete nightmare. The last pair of pants was perfect, which is the only reason they are getting two stars. read more

I needed to have the underarms of a sleeveless dress taken in for an upcoming vacation. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and the dress was ready in less than 48 hours. Total cost: $7. You cannot beat that! I had to circle the block a few times before I got street parking though... parking can be crowded during school-hours. read more

I was recommended Willow Cleaners by an ex-coworker when I was looking for someone to hem my jeans. I didn't want to pay over $20 per pair even though they were designer jeans. Willow cleaners does original hems for $12, can't beat it! The only reason why they did not get the full 5 stars from me is because there have been a handful of times that I have shown up to pick up my clothes and they were not done. Miss Kwan is a Saint. She is a gentle human being. I went and got 3 suits altered and 3 pants hemmed. They measured everything first, then altered it and called for fitting. While I was waiting for the fitting and final check, I saw her dealing with each and every customer so nicely. They have best of the prices in the whole Chicagoland area. I've been meaning to review Willow Cleaners for some time. I had been going to Willow Cleaners for many years. But things changed when the owners son started working there. I dropped off two sweaters . One was J Crew and the other was a sweater that was a gift from my mom and I had only worn it twice. They both had stains on them that I pointed out to them and they put the colored tape on the spots to mark the stains. When I returned to pick them up on the date they were to be ready I was told they needed more time. I said ok and came back the following week. Only the J Crew sweater was ready for pick up and the other sweater was not ready. I got home and noticed the J Crew sweater actually had more stains. There were dark blue stains all over the sweater. I took it back the next day and they said they could get it out and the other sweater was still not ready. When I came back the next week I could tell by the owner's behavior that something was wrong. Her son brought the sweater my mom had given to me and it was ruined. It is creme colored with black polka dots. The black from the polka dots had bleed throughout the entire sweater and all the colors were faded. I thought the son would offer to reimburse me for the sweater. Instead he said I should go back to the store my mom bought it from and say they should reimburse me. I was like what? I said his dry cleaner caused the damage and should reimburse me. I said don't you read the labels for directions before cleaning. He said "no that it is not their responsibility to read the labels and it was my duty to tell him how the sweater should be cleaned." I said he is in the dry cleaning business and this is his duty to read the labels and he should know how to clean the items that come in as this is the business he is in.Then they hand me my J Crew sweater and I look at it and there still were blue stains on it. The mother of the son that works there said she would like to clean the J Crew sweater a third time and I said I didn't trust them with my clothes and why didn't they look over the J Crew sweater before they gave it to me? The J Crew sweater clearly still had stains on it. I was beyond upset. Now I had two ruined sweaters and the son would not reimburse me the replacement cost of the sweaters. And the kicker was I paid for the dry cleaning ahead of time so that wasn't even reimbursed either. And after all the years of business I gave Willow Cleaners; this is how they treated me. This is a horrible and an unprofessional way of doing business. I therefore do not recommend Willow dry cleaners. They didn't take accountability for ruining two sweaters. I read all the glowing reviews. Sorry. I still go there, they're the closest, but they can't seem to get "crease" vs "no crease" -- fairly simple but they screw up every time. I NEVER bring alterations to them anymore. I take the Red Line downtown rather than bring them here. Yes, they're sweet but the cleaning, pressing, etc. get a D or C-. Sorry, only game in town, but certainly not worth all the hype. read more

Ruined two of my favorite dresses by burning off the beading and buttons when I specifically instructed them to cover the beads while dry cleaning. They refused to refund me or pay for my ruined clothing. They also "claim" to mishear me when dropping off dress shirts- I tell them to press only and then they dry clean and charge me triple. I have many other choices in this neighborhood- poor customer service. read more

So before coming here I used to go to CD cleaners on Ashland until they started getting REAL CARELESS with my drycleaning! I went on line (YELP) and was looking for an affordable drycleaning place that will do a great job! I work hard and believe in the value of hard work! Well after seeing all the great reviews here (and even a few not too good) I decided to go to get my clothes dry-cleaned at this establishment. I was very skeptical and had my fingers crossed. Well when I came to pick up my dry cleaning my mouth dropped open! She was able to remove stains that I had been complaining about to the other cleaners that they were unable to remove!!!! Pants were amazing creased well, my white blouse were white! Not dingy looking at all!! Overall I'm very satisfied so far and will be taking my six loads of drycleaning here again! Oh yea I thought my bill was going to come to at least 300! But it was so cheap I couldn't believe it!!! Thank you read more

Very unreliable and when they damage your clothes, they always claim the fault must be yours! In fairness they are cheap but the big watch out is they occasionally trash or loose something and then deny it. OK if you don't value your clothes (as I say, they are cheap) but for anything you value, keep away! read more

I had a bridesmaid dress that wouldn't zip because I ordered it too small, and I was panicked that I wouldn't be able to get it fixed on time for the wedding. Willow altered it for me in 10 days (compared to the dress shop where I got it which was quoting me 5 weeks!), and SUCH a reasonable price. They were lifesavers and did an awesome job. I was not impressed. I brought a really really expensive designer top there to be cleaned. It had embellishments and was hand painted. When I brought it there I emphasized that it had to be cleaned with care and pointed out the embellishments, etc to them. I asked them TWICE if they could do it and they said ok. After waiting THREE MONTHS to get my shirt back (I went there & called on several occasions and they told me there was a problem and it wasn't ready yet) I finally picked it up and all the embellishments were GONE. Just fallen off, with little dark marks left in their place. I pointed this out to them and they apologized and offered to give me a discount on the rest of my cleaning. Nice try, but that doesn't make up for my $300 top that looks like crap now. I can't even buy another one because by that time, they were sold out! What pisses me off the most is that I brought the embellishments to their attention and they said it was no problem. If they had just told me they didn't know how to clean it, I would have taken it elsewhere. Won't be going back... read more

I came here after experiencing the typical "bridesmaid dress disaster." I had to order my dress in June based on my measurements at the time. They did not allow refunds or exchanges, and after running a marathon in between, the dress came in way to big. It needed to be taken in, hemmed, and have the straps shortened. I was concerned about the amount of work that it needed, but it turned out perfect! The price was extremely reasonable, and they only took 1 week. Willow cleaners is the best! read more

Great place for alterations!! I was nervous taking an expensive dress there to be altered given the mixed reviews, but I gave this place a gamble and I'm so glad I did! Owners are extremely friendly. My floor-length gown (for black tie event) was hemmed to the perfect length, and the seam work was flawless. To top it all off they only charged me $25! And they had the dress done in 24hours. I brought a bridemaid's dress to Willow Cleaners after reading reviews from Yelp. The women were friendly and sweet. The alterations I needed were to shorten the hem, shorten the strap, and to take in the bust seam. The woman who was helping me was hesitant about the bust seam but agreed to do it. The total was $35 (half off what other tailors were asking). Unfortunately, it's true that you get what you pay for. The seams that were altered were not straight and there was bunching/puckering of the fabric. I tried pressing these out, but it didn't work because the fabric should have been pressed before they re-sewed the seam and hem. The original bust seam was not even touched. I tried to explain to the owner my concerns, but was told that they did alter the bust seam and that I should try to wear a very padded bra to fill out the dress. Overall, not the experience I was expecting based on the rave reviews here and not a place I would recommend for quality alterations. read more

First, the positives. The location is great (very convenient for me as well), the cleaning is always well done, and the prices are very reasonable. The one negative is a big one. The service is terrible. I have gone to this establishment a dozen times at this point due to the above positives, and each and every time, some error or inconvenience occurs in the service. It has never gone smoothly...ever. They have misplaced my ticket and/or clothing more times than I can count. Today, my ticket could not be found, then to clear up the confusion, I was informed to come back in two days, even though the clothes were supposed to be ready yesterday. The best was when a woman working there was talking over her shoulder at her coworkers while ringing up my bill on my credit card, and ending up processing a total charge of $350, instead of $30. No one in the store could figure out how to undo the error, and even handed ME, the customer, the user's manual for the credit card machine and asked me to figure out how to cancel the transaction. Today was just the last straw on top of a stack of bungles, which this place seems to specialize in. read more

I have never written a review before, but this place deserves one. I had been recommended to come here for my bridesmaid dress alterations. When I walked in the woman had me change in the back, out in the open - no dressing room. The place was absolutely filthy. While the woman was nice, she seemed to be stressed and rushing through the process. I came back a week 1/2 later, tried on the dress and it was way too small. The clasp was a good 2-3 inches away from hooking together, so needless to say that dress was not going to zip. It felt like they made a dress from a size 6 to a size 0. I went back the same day, and they are hoping to fix the dress. Good thing I got my alterations with ample time before my friend's wedding. While prices are cheap - I do not recommend this place for dress alterations. read more

I went to Willow's based on reviews from yelp but I was dissapointed. I've only done dry cleaning here but it's not that great so I won't be going back. They just don't give my clothes the proper care. I've wondered if my items were even cleaned since they didn't seem pressed and still had stains that should've come out. Then I got a cashmere sweater back that should have been folded but they hung it on a hangar and it got stretch marks on the shoulders. Plus it smells pretty bad in there and I'd rather not have my clean clothes soaking up that odor. There are better places around that give the extra care you'd expect from a dry cleaner. read more

Willow Cleaners is great for alterations. They have altered two bridesmaid dresses for me and the results were flawless. Both dresses needed to be taken in at the top and on the sides. You could not tell that either of the dresses had been altered. Yes, you need to try your clothes when you pick them up from being altered to make sure that things are right, this is common sense. Sometimes there is a language barrier with the seamstress, but i've been patient and showed her exactly where and what changes I wanted made to the dresses. Excellent service. They hemmed and re-cut 5 suit pants (to fix the waist that was 2 sizes bigger) in 5 business days. I was a little nervous about having suit pants re-cut with other than a professional tailor. They did a great job. After receiving a pretty high quote for wedding dress alterations, based on other Yelp reviews, I decided to try Willow Cleaners. After she pinned me up and we discussed the alterations, she told me to come back in 24 hours. I was a little nervous upon leaving the store - I have never heard of someone finishing a wedding dress in 24 hours. However, the results exceeded my expectations. When I brought the dress in, it was a few sizes too big, needed hemming, a bustle, shortened straps and the beaded belt shortened. When I came back the next day, the dress fit perfectly and the price was amazing. This is definitely not for a bride who wants three fittings in a private atmosphere, but if you want quality work without the extra frills, trust them. She even gave me a hug when we finished. read more

I even had this obscure vision for a pretty expensive dress I own to basically transform it into something entirely different and they nailed it. I live a block away and used Willow Cleaners because it was convenient. Don't make the same mistake. They inexplicably replaced the buttons on the front and cuffs of several of my dress shirts with buttons of a completely different color. Why would they do that? Your guess is as good as mine. I just brought a bridesmaid dress to Willow Cleaners to be altered and had an AMAZING experience. The bride had us buy the dresses a long time ago before I knew I was pregnant. Next month, at the time of the wedding, I will be 8 months pregnant! The dress didn't come close to zipping! So I brought it to Willow Cleaners and the wonderful women there were able to alter it to get it to zip!! And they did it so quickly and for much less than I expected to pay! It is true, that the prices at Willow are absolutely impossible to beat. But the service is awful and they simply do not care about their customers. We have had numerous items damaged, and they just never seem to understand what they've done wrong. We are still waiting for them to find a shirt that they lost of ours.
