We got lucky and a table opened up and they sat us right away. The NOLA style menu was nice. I ordered the fried catfish Benedict, it came with perfectly cooked fried potatoes and the frozen hurricane. The food was wonderfully seasoned, not greasy and the portions were nice. Stopped in for lunch with colleagues and was so so pleased! The staff was super friendly and attentive and quick to preemptively offer refills and extra napkins. But the lunch special really showed off. It's a very generous portion - the cajun cobb salad is amazing but the catfish po' boy was the star of the show. I've been here for brunch a few times. 2 of the 3 experiences were good. I've also had a hour here. Happy hour was great. The drinks were good and they have good apps. Now they aren't the most shareable but good portions and tasty. For example, it's kind of hard to share gumbo. On the breakfast side, I do like their chicken and waffles. The shrimp and grits are good too. My most recent brunch trip wasn't good. The food and coffee were served cold, the service was poor, they ran out of chicken and they brought us the wrong check. Keep in mind the bowling is smaller handball style bowling. Our table ordered the cornbread (super moist and buttery, so good!), the roasted chicken with Mac & cheese and the shrimp & grits. I had a reservation, that was cancelled with out any communication, when I arrived on time after confirming my reservation via text. We then were put on a "time restriction limit" to order, eat & depart. Jen the manager stated she needed this table at a certain time. 15 min pass the time we were told no other parties walked in and there were over 5 vacant tables that could accommodate the same size of our party (4). I find this strange how a hospitality manager would conduct business this way to a customer. The manager Jen here is extremely unprofessional. I literally witnessed her vaping on the floor where there were still plenty of guest eating & enjoying our lunch. Extremely distasteful. Our corporate lunch was ruined by her inappropriate racial comments regarding her "bi-racial" children. Retraining or replacing the management staff should be revised immediately. read more

I went to Wilma's for bowling and drinks. They have duckpin bowling which was fine. The drinks weren't that good. I sent my drink back and got a margarita instead which was fine. My friend had a drink and he didn't really like it. They had music playing when we first got there but after a little while they stopped playing music and it was just nothing but people talking and background noise...just weird. We went on opening day and the food was absolutely amazing! The tables were a little close together but it wasn't too bad. I also tried alligator for the first time which was a totally new experience for me. I would definitely go back again to try out their Po' Boys next. Like many others, I want to like this place so bad however there is always an issue with my order even for simple orders. This last time I decided to sidestep a main order for something that should be easy. After waiting for 10-15 mins for beignets (which are very good when made right), I received two orders of burnt beignets. It's literally one of their staple items, I couldn't even eat them. One of the main reasons that I go to New Orleans is for the food. My wife and I seek out the best places to have cajun and other unique acadian dishes. Wilma's did a great job of capturing the flavors and spirit of New Orleans. I had Shrimp and Grits and my wife a their New Orleans French Quarter Breakfast - which was Smoked Chicken, Shrimp and Sausage over cheesy grits in a tomato broth with an egg. We also had their Beignets and Cafe Du Monde/Chicory coffee. My wife said the bar made nearly perfect drinks - The food was great.... service was great... I loved it. I am quite pleased I can have this food in Wilmington. As for the duck pin bowling, yes, it's noisy and it could kill the ambiance, but just pretend it's a rattly old street car just outside and you'll feel happier!
