There are a few positives--the location is convenient, the remodeled appliances are nice, and the maintenance team has been consistently kind and helpful. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Management is not located on-site, which creates a major disconnect in communication. Information is often inconsistent, and community policies are not enforced. There is little to no oversight when it comes to amenities--people regularly use the gym and jacuzzi after hours, which leads to frequent noise disturbances for nearby units. On top of that, some members of the leasing team come across as defensive when concerns are raised instead of working toward a solution. It makes it difficult to feel heard as a resident. Overall, the lack of management presence and enforcement significantly impacts the quality of living here. I would not choose to live at another property managed by this company again. read more

Marcus from the maintenance team is extremely helpful and flexible. Very friendly and is always very communicative with me throughout all of my work orders. I have never been able to allow my dog to interact with maintenance before, but Marcus and my dog get along really well and it makes me feel much more comfortable to know if I'm not home things can be repaired with Marcus there. The fact that he also took the time to familiarize himself with my dog is very special to me. He is quick and has great personality! I have lived at Wilshire Promenade for over a few years now, I have lived on almost every floor due to changes in the family. We have never had any issues and have always felt safe. During our time at Wilshire if we needed anything fixed in the apartment we would submit a request and our issues would be resolved promptly; Carlos is the best maintenance guy we've ever met! He went out of his way to help us move over our tv mount after they installed washer and dryer in our unit and weren't able to use the washer and dryer due to the tv blocking our doors. read more

I initially had a terrific experience with Tiffany; however, the application team of Essex ruined that entire experience for me. They rushed me for an apartment that wasn't even ready to move into. The lease started a whole month out and they canceled my application without valid reason for doing so. I was working with Tiffany the entire time and the application team interjected, harassing me, adding all of these random deadlines that made no sense. I was told that I didn't need to worry about deadlines until we got closer to the move in date. Also, my co-applicants were out of state at the time so they couldn't complete the application. I notified the application team of this and that we could complete the application within the following week. They didn't care and continued to cancel the application. Then, after canceling my application, they said my application fee and holding deposit was forfeited and that I need to reapply when my co-applicants came back to town. I was not going to pay almost $400 again after that. I was so excited to move forward with Tiffany and the process of moving in here until the application team interjected and ruined my entire experience. I even reached out to the application team to express my concerns regarding their decision and received no response. They are so unprofessional, rude, and added pressure for no good reason. Even multiple people on Tiffany's team said they're not supposed to do that and they've never done that before. I will no longer be moving here or even considering living here or any Essex community. My experience with Essex is now tainted and living here or anywhere Essex owns is not worth the mess and hassle they put me through. I will proudly put my money elsewhere-anywhere but here. Also, just a heads up it's very difficult to get ahold of someone in the office. There is no one on site to talk to so you just have to hope they answer their phones because if not, you're out of luck. Thankfully, Tiffany was responsive; but besides her, no one else picked up the phone unless they were calling to harass me about the application. read more

Where to start. . . TOUR THE TRASH ROOM before signing!!! Utterly Disgusting. The leasing office is often not responsive. I can't remember talking to the same person twice. The right hand doesn't communicate with the left. Getting my dryer fixed took 3.5 weeks my unit had popcorn ceiling and formica so old it was deteriorating from underneath the panels. In an attempt to get my sons closer to their high school, I jumped on this unit because it was only 3,100.00 in a desirable neighborhood, foolishly I trusted the photos and felt good about the location. The doors had been painted so many times, the doors wouldn't shut properly, the kitchen was only big enough to fit one person at a time and no matter how many times I cleaned, it never looked like it. So old and run down. I patiently waited my lease out. I wasn't too hopeful about getting my deposit back because I have 3 sons, the carpet and paint had regular wear & tear. You can imagine my shock when I found out not only would not be getting any of my deposit back, I would also be charged an additional 1,100.00 in admin + and hidden fee's. I would have. even better off cutting my losses on month one. read more

I've been living here about a year now with no problems... I get home late, about midnight. To find myself with no hot water. I reached out to Mathew and not only did he pick up, he came out immediately and got my hot water going. My wife and kids never even knew he saved their morning. Take my word and my insight with a grain of salt. I'm just one guy that actually likes living here. First and foremost, the most annoying thing for me is getting appliances fixed or replaced, in a timely manner. This apartment complex, has a great team. Over the last 5 years, Matthew and Carlos have shown to be proper professionals. I don't want to write an essay here with a long list. But if there is one thing I can guarantee, the staff on the ground, they have a great team working it. I can't say anything about the rent or quality of neighbors. It varies, but for the most part it's a good place to live. Mostly working professionals doing what they need to do. Oh, and the security force here, spot on. You got issues with rude or rowdy neighbors, the security contractors will handle it. And the parking here is great. Too much to go around tbh. Only drawback is the office is slow to reply to emails. But give them a buzz/ring and you'll get to them eventually. read more

If I could give a 0 out 5 stars I would! The leasing office is so rude! The only person who knows anything about how leasing agreements work in this apt complex is Sara. The other two, Yvette and Candace, that work in the leasing office will just SCOFF at you over the phone and talk to you in a very DEMEANING tone. They did this to ALL of my roommates when we had questions about our lease. They are very UNRELIABLE and UNEXPERIENCED, when it comes to knowing how leases work! (Which is crazy because they're the ones who give out the leases!!) They are EXPLOITING all of their residents, but not communicating with them all of their rights in the leases they're giving out. Read it CAREFULLY, or you might get EXPLOITED and TAKEN ADVANTAGE of too!! Their leasing office is completely virtual, so they CHOOSE to ignore your calls instead of helping you. SUPERRRRRRRRR unhelpful and don't know what they're doing!! Would not recommend living here if you don't want a headache from the leasing office EVERYDAY! (Maintenance team rocks tho! I currently live here, I haven't had any issues but some people seem to take advantage of the pool rules. The price is honestly too high at $2400 but that's just the economy we live in right now. They're super pet friendly and the leasing office seems to be working remote. Our neighbors are really cool and everyone keeps to themselves for the most part.
