I drove 55 minutes with my two-month-old baby for a routine cleaning that should have been fully covered by my insurance (two free cleanings per year). When I arrived, I was told I'd have to pay $150 because I'm eligible tomorrow -- not today. No one informed me in advance. They had no problem sending multiple reminders about a $150 no-show fee, but somehow failed to notify me about an out-of-pocket charge. That's basic billing responsibility. On top of that, the office looked poorly managed. My 10:00 AM appointment wasn't called until 20 minutes later, while multiple patients were waiting. Two hygienists were chatting in the hallway instead of calling patients in. The hygienists also did not look presentable -- hair down and untied while working around patients' mouths, which is concerning from a professionalism and hygiene standpoint. Honestly, I'm almost relieved it didn't work out. The lack of communication, supervision, and professionalism was very clear. I will not be returning. read more

This place was good. But these cancellation fees are ridiculous. They have canceled on me plenty of times. Sometimes day of and don't do anything to make up for them cancelling on me. But if I have an emergency or something where I need to cancel, then they charge $75. It's ridiculous. They have no accountability for their staff but make the patients pay for their incompetence. Not to mention the emphasis they put on being on time. However several times I've had a 30min/hour start to my appointment because their staff is running late. Sometimes from their lunch time. I have to take time off work to come to my appointment, but they can't start on time to save their life. Ridiculous. read more

As a current patient, I called to book a new appointment and was told I was dropped as a patient because I refused a treatment I felt #1 I didn't need as I wasn't bothered by it nor was I there for that - and #2 was expensive. I don't want to just throw money away. But they threw me away. That's a weird way to determine which patients to keep. I would not recommend going to them if they could drop you for not agreeing to one specific treatment that no other dentist said I needed. read more

I've been going to Wilshire Smile Studio for a few years now and Captain Daisy and the team have always been providing me with the best care and recommendations. In the past few months, I've gotten fillings replaced, teeth whitening, crowns installed, and wisdom teeth extracted but Dr. Saadat, Dr. Arora and Ate Gladis were very supportive in making sure I was comfortable and painless. I've been holding off on a review of this place for a while because I don't like reviewing after the initial visit. My first visit here I had some molars extracted by this office. I had no issues during and after the surgery. Then I had my follow up consultations and cleanings after and never had a problem with the quality of care they provided me during any of those visits. The front office staff and the dentists and the assistants are all super nice and knowledgeable. They are great at explaining what I need to do to prepare for my visit, after my visit and what they're going to do to me during my visit. They answered all my questions in great detail when I asked them anything. They were also very patient and caring while i was on the chair. They will use incorrect codes to get money from you. I had to contact my insurance several times and have them contact this office in order to get hundreds back from them. The communication from this office is truly terrible. In looking through several other reviews here, my experience is very aligned with the other 1-star reviews. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. My first concern arose when I had questions about a prescribed medication. Both the verbal and written communication around this issue was unclear, which left me feeling uncertain about my treatment plan and ultimately caused me a great deal of distress and pain. The same communication issues extended to their billing department. I received multiple statements that were confusing and inconsistent, making it nearly impossible to understand my financial obligations. The lack of clarity around my account and insurance payments led to a prolonged and stressful dispute that actually led me to file formal complaints with the BBB and the Dental Board. While the billing matter is now settled, I believe these issues could have been avoided with better communication from the start. I would encourage patients to be very proactive in all written and verbal exchanges with this office. Better yet: there are plenty of other great dentists in the area you should check out instead. read more

Perhaps the worst dental experiences I have ever had. Before I go into the problems, I need to stress this - the studio is razor focused on generating as much profit from each patient as possible.  I think a quota system is in effect here... Your previous dentist stories of your fantastic teeth and gums hold no weight here. At the Smile Studio, you will get few compliments and can expect to have all these problems that were never discovered. They, of course, will recommend procedures to help address these newly found problems, procedures that will set you back hundreds or thousands of dollars. If you can get out of here without an Invisalign recommendation, you're doing something right.  With 90% of the dentists that you visit, the process is pretty simple... You go in for a checkup and cleaning on one visit. That process usually takes 20 to 40 minutes. This includes X-ray time.   At the smile studio, you must go through an X-ray and photo(?) scan of your teeth. This is about 40 minutes. Then the Doctor comes in to review them.  Their protocol is NOT to do cleaning on the visit. From the evaluation of my X-ray and photos, Doctor Arora found issues that were not found last November, I had all these new problems...problems that would cost me over $1200 out of pocket.  Naturally $5000 Invisalign was recommended! So I scheduled a STANDARD cleaning visit and also for them to have a mouth guard molded, I had high hopes that this visit would be better.  This did not happen, on the second visit. We had to wait 10 minutes to get in to see our cleaners. I had read other reviews that patients came in to get normal cleanings. We were told to get a deep cleaning and then patients followed it... Only to find that it was not covered by insurance and they owed $$$. Unsurprisingly, the same thing happened to me. My hygienist found these mysterious gym pockets after looking at my gums for 30 seconds.  She said that my teeth needed to be deep cleaned (surprise!) and that was going to take 45 minutes. (I've never had a routine cleaning that lasts longer than 20 minutes in my life) If I wanted to opt out, I had to sign a special waiver.  Deep cleaning would cost extra...of course I rejected the deep cleaning recommendation and in discussing my frustrations with my surprised hygienist,  I realized I did not want to get a cleaning year at all.  She was surprised, as was the office manager, when I complained about their practice.  I wouldn't be a sheep... Of course, because I did not get the cleaning they would not do the molding for my mouth guard. The logic around this made no sense, but alas it's their 'protocol'. read more

There were no smiles and there is nothing fo smile about. Ridiculous office management. I just left. Did not even have enough seats for people to sit down in the waiting area. I have been trying to make an appointment as a new patient for the past 6 days now. I called during business hours and got their voicemail. I left a message requesting a call back to make an appointment. They texted me back promptly to acknowledge my missed call, but have not since followed up. So today, I followed up via text and got what I assume was an AI response. The AI kept texting back and forth with me, and then all of the sudden stopped. I have reached out 2 more times with no response. All I am trying to do is make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned - so simple but they are making it nearly impossible to do. I haven't even made it in the door, and I am already so annoyed and frustrated with their customer service. I am about to call my insurance and have them switch me to another dentist altogether. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and everyone who worked on my teeth was just as wonderful.
