I made an appointment online to replace a single tire (confirmed via email), but apparently Wilson's website does not communicate with the various tire shops. When I arrived for my appointment, the technicians were surprised to see me. In any event, there was nobody in the shop, so the technicians took the car right away. Everyone was pleasant and personable, and the price was acceptable, though these techs will not be called up to a NASCAR pit crew anytime soon; it took them more than 90 minutes to mount and balance a single tire. All in all, it is tough to find reliable tire service, and this shop's 3.5 star average rating seems accurate. read more

Purchased 4 Goodyear tires for a Ford F-150. Price was extremely fair and competitive. Mechanics had to remove locking lugs on three tires which they did quickly and without harm to the rims. All four tires were changed, balanced and mounted in an hour which includes the locking lug removal. Jade Cartwright was the salesperson and she was technically knowledgeable, courteous and kept me well informed. Beware these folks. We bought a new run flat with road hazard from them and the "inside seam of the tire" ripped--there were no punctures on the tire. Lo and behold, not their problem and they said we never paid for road hazard (we always pay the extra hoping we'll never need it. This car is driven to and from schools and errands, no racing or offroading. I recommend care--we paid for another new tire elsewhere. This review is overdue and will be a long read, and I apologize in advance for that, but I feel I need to write, in detail, my experience working with Bill, Jade, and Mike. I don't even know where to begin with this review, except that Wilson's Tire and Auto Service in Gambrills has the best customer service I've ever experienced, not just in a tire/auto shop, but in a retail setting...period! I'll caveat this review by saying I am the guy who absolutely HATES taking a vehicle in for service, but there are some things I just can't do. This review is for my experience over a period of a month...yes I said month--but to NO fault of Wilson's Tire. First off, Bill, Jade, and Mike are probably the most down-to-earth, friendly, and professional folks you'll ever meet, especially at an auto repair shop. This was the complete opposite of the customer service I received from Tire Rack, where I purchased the tires (and had to make numerous calls to afterwards). Bill, Jade, and Mike always greeted me with a smile when I came into the shop, and was very empathetic to my situation...which...you'll only begin to imagine my frustration after reading this review. It all started when I purchased a set of 4 tires from Tire Rack at the beginning August and had them shipped to Wilson's Tire and Auto for install. I've been here before for tire plugs, so I figured I'd continue to use them, plus they were a highly recommended installer via the Tire Rack website. I had the initial install done and it turned out that all 4 tires were defective (out of round). The tires simply would not balance. I contacted Tire Rack and they sent out another set of tires. Out of that complete set, 1 was out of round. I called Tire Rack, yet again, to have another tire sent out. THAT tire was out of round. Wilson's Tire tried time after time to balance my tires (every weekend in August). After a while I started to think "hmmm...could it actually be Wilson's that isn't getting it right?" Nope...it wasn't! It was the tires, because they're still defective. Bill went above and beyond and called Hunter, the manufacturer of the road force balancing machine, and asked for a technician to come out and check the machine. Bill also called and asked if I could bring my car to the shop so the Hunter technician could use my car as a test vehicle. Bill had all of his technicians in the next day, blocked off new appointments/walk-ins for several hours, and bought his crew pizza, while the Hunter technician went over the machine from A-Z, and also re-balanced my tires (for the millionth time). And yes, I still had one bad tire; which we knew, and I was still waiting for the replacement to arrive. I was floored at the length Bill and his team went to make sure everything was right for me (and for future customers as well!). You will NOT get this from buying tires on the internet!!! We live in a time where everything is accessible via the internet--shoot you can even buy a car on the internet and have it shipped to your house, but nothing beats good old fashioned customer service. Bill, Jade, and Mike have not forgotten this lost art of providing outstanding customer service. Lessons learned here: think long and hard about what you're buying over the internet versus what you can get from a brick and mortar. I got so much attitude and push back from Tire Rack every time I called. My tires seem to have gotten bad again, and now they're making a droning noise--I truly believe the tires just aren't right for my vehicle. If I had just gone to Wilson's to begin with, they would have already put me in new tires. Unfortunately Tire Rack will not let me go into another brand. If you made it this far in my review, thank you for taking the time to read it. To Bill, Jade, Mike, AND the technicians that worked on my car, Thank You! I thought I was going to give this location one-star, because when I first entered I stood at the counter and no one acknowledged me. I said good morning and then it seemed like wah-la the customer service button was clicked on. I went to this location because a piece of wire punctured my tire and I had to get my tire fixed. The charge was about $35 which I thought was a decent deal. The fixed the small hole and top off all my tired with air. They had plenty of comfortable seats, free coffee as well as a snack machine. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Everyone was really nice after I said hello. Upon exiting I was told to have a great weekend. The donut that I was riding on was placed back very neatly in my trunk. I was pleased with my service and might check them out for my next oil change since they rotate your tire with an oil change. Went in to get a blown tire replaced was treated very nice and was told that I would get the tire the next day the following day I was called and told that I also had a broken rim . I elected to go to the car dealer for repair. The bob who was the service person I dealt with was very helpful, customer oriented and very congenial, worked with me and very understanding of my situation They help me and did not charge for any of the work that they did at that time. Very honest. Went to have a tire plugged but it was on the shoulder so the tire had to be replaced. Luckily the tire wasn't pierced through and was not leaking air. Instead of suggesting a new tire, they pulled the screw out and ensured it wasn't leaking air, free of charge. read more

I had a nail in my tire and stopped by to get it patched. They took the vehicle in and then told me that the nail was too close to the side to patch, it needed to be replaced. They then said that the tire tread has been discontinued and I needed to replace all four tires. They said that the car wouldn't run correctly if one tire has a different tread. Then they said I can look it up in the owners manual, which I know doesn't say that it says the same size and type...not tread. They refused to replace just one or just two tires, it had to be all four. The entire time the people behind the counter were condescending and rude. I know that they were lying and I left. They returned my car is the inside smelled horribly bad with cigarette smoke, as if the guy was smoking while sitting in the car. Never go to this place. Horrible service, horrible attitudes, horrible integrity, and made the car smell.like smoke. I wouldn't bring them a bicycle tire to replace. Update: I went to another tire center and they told me all I needed was a plug for the nail in my tire...$12 repair. So, this place insisted I needed to spend over $500 to replace all my tires when I'm fact all I needed was a $12 repair. Criminals!!!!! read more

Brought my car in for just an oil change and also brought my own filter. Their first reaction was they reluctantly accepted the filter I provided (I drive a MOPAR vehicle and don't trust a lot of the filters that many places use). Next, they had to order the Mobile 1 oil needed for the oil change. No real issues so far....I get it..things happen. However, what they ended up charging me for the oil was pretty unreal, but went thru with the oil change anyway (lesson learned). Then, the fun started....first, I arrive home later that evening and when I restarted the car, an indicator came up that said that I will have to change my oil soon, and when I scrolled over to the oil sensor readout, it stated that all I had was 5% oil life left. Figuring that it probably just needed to be reset, I tried and no go. The sensor picked up either water or impurities in the oil that caused the sensor to read the way it did. Obviously, they didn't bother to check and/or let me know. Also, they left the plastic top of what might have been one of the oil bottles in the engine bay, not policing their work. Went to the Lube Center on Rt 3 to redo the oil change (not taking back to Wilson...thought about it...and no), who figured out the oil issue, redid the oil change, putting in Mobile 1 (same oil as with Wilson), reset the sensor perfectly, and it now shows 100% oil life, also added an engine cleaner additive, and blew out the engine bay (really didn't need it) of any remaining debris it may have had. Nice. The kicker is, they charged me $45.00 dollars less than Wilson, and did much more...... had the Mobile 1 oil in stock, was prepared, and completed the work in half the time. read more

Purchased new run-flats for my BMW from Tire Rack and this was one of their so-called "approved installers" so I called for a quote. They were going to charge me $10/wheel extra to balance my run-flats citing that these need a "high speed" balance. Found out this isn't the case so I went elsewhere. Improper repair keep me going back to the shop and charged additional money On July, 11th 2014 I had my Tire serviced at the location to check for a leak I was told that the Tech. found a nail and it was removed and batched, cost $ 32.35 On August, 15th 2014 I called the shop complaint that I still have a leak in the same tire that they fixed and I was told by the manager to bring it in to check the tire and if is it the same problem that they previously fixed there will be no charge and if is it something else there will charge me. They inspect the tire and I was told that the tire needed to be sealed the cost $ 32.35 Today four days later I find the tire leaking air again. At this point it appears that this people don't know what they are doing or it is just a scam to keep me going back to their shop and pay money. It is a brand new tire and it does not need a Rocket scientist to fix a leak that keeps me going back. The Manager Called me to discuss my claim and then reprimanded me indicating that it is ridicules to file a claim or complain for such a small amount of money, but he failed to let me know how much I should pay and how many times I should go back for the same problem to be fixed so he wouldn't consider as ridiculous claim. read more
