I think you will enjoy this place even if you are not a huge fan of classic family owned and operated diners, but if you are a huge fan of classic family owned and operated diners you will really like the place. The star of the show is the owner/cook. There are not too many fancy items on the menu, but all of the classic breakfast items are done very well and - outside of Sat and Sun late morning - very quickly. If it's not busy and Arthur has the ingredients, you can pretty much ask him to make whatever you want. I don't order fish at diners as a general rule, but the meat dishes are generally good - pot roast, meat loaf, etc. There are no lunch items served on weekends. I saw that the coffee got a bad rap in one review but I think it's generally very good. I actually go there specifically for the coffee sometimes. read more

Wonderful diner experience. Got to sit right in front of the chef, who is on fire!! The team work is great, and the manager is keeps everyone calm while plates fly around. The owner (I believe) very creepily from behind the counter asked my husband if "I was a good girl?" and then proceeded to chuck a lollipop at my head after saying "you look like a good girl." This diner isn't "retro"...it's the real deal. Practically a museum. This is a genuine Worcester diner car that is virtually untouched. the real wood, marble, tile, ice box. The food is good, not great, but you won't be disappointed. If you're lucky to score a seat at the counter, you'll witness Arthur (the chef and owner) in action, juggling multiple orders with incredible skill. That alone is worth the visit. I am a huge fan of this place. The food is hands down excellent breakfast food. The greek gentlemen running the show works there 7 days a week and only takes a vacation for about a week or two in the summer time because his wife forces him haha. The food is always served quick and correct orders. I highly recomment the Gyro Omelette OMG delish. Just make sure you wear pants with an elastic waist band on them! My only complaint is that the booths are a little bit small and rickity and maybe could be updated for feel a little bit more durable. Just a warning that you may need to wait for a few minutes for a place to sit as when the local collage kids are in town they pack the place. If you are lucky the little greek man cooking will give the kids and women lollipops on your way out! hahha. Quick tip though ,the coffee.... ehhh. If you are a coffee lover like me you will probably still order it but don't have your standards high as it is often very weak and someitmes a little watered down. Oh well, worth the good food!! Classic old school diner with a master at the cook-top! If you are in Waltham do not overlook look this gem. I was in Waltham, on business, earlier this week. The breakfast offerings at my hotel were (corporately) overpriced and feeble in imagination. I had time, as my meeting was to begin at the Conference Center at Waltham Woods at 9:30am, to look for a local place to grab breakfast. A quick Internet search led me to Willson's. A short ten (10) minute drive and I arrived to find that ample parking was available. I was immediately greeted and told to sit anywhere. The chef asked me, as he was working the cook-top, what I was having, and I replied that it was "your call, you make it and I'll eat it". For him to make me anything "that he thought I should have that morning." With a huge grin, he began to prepare. He asked me "What don't you like?". I replied, "I'm in a diner, I like everything you got here." Very quickly I was eating a corn beef hash omelet with cheese, rye toast, potatoes (perfectly cooked), crispy bacon, and black coffee. It was outstanding and it hit the spot. And, extremely reasonable in price. The check was a mere bag of shells compared to what I would have paid the hotel. I went back the next morning, before my return trip to New Jersey, and grabbed a "bacon, egg, on a bagel - hot sauce, pepper, ketchup, no salt" to go. That too was outstanding. Chef Arthur is personable and gracious, funny and outspoken. He's a man's man who can cook up a rewarding and hearty breakfast while conducting a conversation. Do not sleep on this place. The food and price are great, and the owner is good, but the server, a black, young lady, oooof, very very moody and unprofessional. She's the type of server making you feel guilty of sitting in her restaurant if she figures out she doesn't like you. She'll give you a shut-down face if you request anything while she's busy like you're intentionally looking for trouble. And of course, she'll make you wait forever to get served and checked. This past Sunday, my girlfriend and I were searching for a place to get a quick breakfast, I am so glad that we ended up at Wilson's! We sat at the counter, right at the grill and it was awesome! Performance art, really. The cook (whom I have to assume is the owner) was so damn fun to watch, so efficient, so skilled, perfect. There were no tickets for orders, but rather the wait staff was verbally issuing orders, almost like plays from the sidelines, that were recalled flawlessly, every time. Between flips and cracking of eggs, pressing of bacon and turning of home fries, the "grill conductor" flirted with my girlfriend and joked with us, he really was so much fun. The food was excellent! I got the corned beef hash and cheese omelet and it was unreal. I heard about the hash and I was not disappointed, not one little bit. I can not wait to get back to this place. Ok this possibly could just be an east coast thing but I guess not. I had a Bacon cheese burger for $4.50. Did it come with fries? NO. Sir would you like home fries? errr with a cheese burger. no and WTF? This seems to be a breakfast place. They do have some basic sandwiches but from the looks of it, it looked like crap. Uncooked and half cooked stuff sitting around. My burger patty was frozen and warmed in the microwave then finished off on the grill. UGH!!!!! I suppose it's classic, the ambience is just fine and the food is... well, it's ok. And it's certainly cheap but when push comes to shove there's really nothing to distinguish it from any other diner. If you've got the means get yourself a few miles up the street to Watertown for breakfast, but in a pinch you could certainly do worse. read more
