We were craving donuts and drove by this spot and decided to stop by. We saw the staff with his mask on his chin. It was 2 am, no one was around so we understood cause there were no customers. As we walked in, he came to help us with his mask off, I thought he'd be respectful and at least got the idea from us wearing mask, to put a mask on but no, the whole time he had it down. What had us leaving was when he sneezed!!! He had no mask on and he sneezed into his arm. This is not a review for food, of which I have zero complaints regarding that subject. This is a review regarding the HEALTH and SAFETY of all customers, of which the staff at Winchell's on Harbor doesn't take seriously. We are in a pandemic, and the people who work there are treating it with minimal care, and little respect. First of all, I've been there once or twice before the most recent nail-in-the-coffin moment, and noticed that several staff members either A) are not wearing a mask; or B) are not wearing masks properly. One tall male employee hardly ever wears his mask covering his NOSE, whilst I've seen a few female employees exit the break room/office completely maskless. Are these people not aware that they are in food service, and as such MUST take the mask mandate seriously? Are these people not aware that some of us customers are relying on them doing THEIR PART, to keep US safe? The tipping point for me, and the reason I will never come back to this location, is just two days ago the staff proved to me that they have no idea how to properly manage the safety of their customers, let alone their own staff. I went there early one morning, and there was a short line outside, two people standing ahead of me. We were socially distancing, standing 6 feet apart outside the door. The customer in front of me did not have a mask. When it was his turn to go in, the guy pulled his t-shirt over his face and walked right in, and when inside, dropped the shirt, face totally uncovered. He then ordered his food in the one area near the donut case that didn't have plastic barriers between him and the employees. I was floored. When I approached the counter I asked the staff member why they let him in without a mask, and she said that, "oh some people don't have to wear masks". ARE YOU F***ING SERIOUS?!!? It's the LAW!!! At no point can anyone enter a place of business without a mask, ESPECIALLY a place serving food! I didn't want to go full Karen on her, so I just shook my head and noticed that same tall male employee wearing his mask under his chin behind the counter... handling food. I reluctantly ordered food, and left feeling sick to my stomach. These people at Winchell's think that people aren't observing how they are handling this crisis. I didn't even eat the food after thinking about it, and just threw it away in disgust. I will NEVER eat at this Winchell's again, until they prove that they train their entire staff on health and safety during this COVID-19 panic. It's deplorable that they have been open this long and have not been given a straight D by Public Health. read more

This location of Winchell's sets the standard for ALL donut shops. I can't believe the variety of products they have. Not interested in a sweet item today? Have a breakfast sandwich...on a croissant, a bagel, bread, WHATEVER! Have a breakfast burrito! Or hell, don't have breakfast at all...have a sandwich. Or...you could be like me and hubby and partake in everything. We had a stellar freshly-made croissant sandwich with sausage egg and cheese inside. Before that, we tried bagel sandwich with bacon and ham sammies before that. Today, I'm going to try this breakfast burrito that another Yelper so graciously posted pictures of. I'm also going to order a fresh-squeezed Orange juice, a coffee and some donuts for later in the day. On top of all these fabulous things, the service here is fantastic. Everyone is always very pleasant and helpful. They obviously have positive relationships with everyone who comes into the store. This kind of local establishment is exactly what I choose to support. All the Donut shops were closed in our neighborhood on New Year's Day 2021! My hubby went to this location because he has been there before. Nice Friendly female workers. Strangely they offer other food & juices, that we didn't try. However my review is based on the Dozen Donuts we purchased. These are Sooo Worth the drive. They are the Best Donuts... literally craving them & Need to quickly go back this week to get it out of my system. Lol. I ate the Chocolate twist, which is fluffy with a little crisp when you bite. So fresh & the chocolate was so good on top. No after taste , just Yummy chocolate. I also tossed a few Glazed Donut holes in my mouth... Omgosh!!! The best. All Donuts were delicious & Fresh & big in size above average & just so Good. No complaints here. Paid approximately $12.99 for Dozen plus a bag of Donut holes. That's a Deal!! Parking is great .... line was long but moved fast. Clean inside & Employees are practicing safety with masks. Their night guy is terrible. I came twice now at night, at around 11:30pm or so, and I've been treated poorly by the night worker. The first time, the night worker told me that their toaster was broken and that he couldn't make any sandwiches for me. Just to check his statement, I came back the next afternoon and asked their crew if their toaster wasn't working at any time during the morning, and both of the workers said that their toaster was working just fine. The second time happened just now. I walked in, and the guy had his music playing really loudly. I saw him through the machines behind the counter working, and we even made eye contact twice. I finally had to yell for him to get him to serve me. When he finally came to the counter, I asked him "Are nights just not good to get donuts from you?" And he said "No". And then I asked him if he wanted to serve me, he then said "No" again. So I left. Shortly after that, I saw two cars pull up and get donuts. Why he didn't want to serve me, in either time is beyond me. I have tried calling their office to complain but their phone system at their headquarters is very confusing and naturally, no one answered the phone at the store phone number listed. read more

Ok, so I visited the store (again) some days ago. Yes, I drove to La Habra, all 20 plus miles, to get these fresh-made donuts because they are the BEST I've had! I got there after 11 pm, and a super friendly girl greeted me when I walked in. She was wearing a mask, but that didn't stop her from sharing a smile! My eyes immediately fixated on the grand and impressive, fully stocked assortment of donuts and bread. I was pretty shocked, to be honest. I was expecting to get whatever didn't sell that evening, but I was proven wrong. I immediately asked for coffee, and let me tell you about this coffee. Have you ever had a brew so satisfying you forget your name and where you are? Well, that's what I experienced with the first sip of the cinnamon coffee this place offers. As I continued holding my warm paper cup, I couldn't help notice someone was baking in the back. I immersed myself in the smell of freshly baked goods and went directly for the warm glazed donut holes. As soon as I stuffed that first soft sweet glazed hole in my mouth, my life changed! I was sure it couldn't get any better, but then the baker suggested I try the blueberry and orange cranberry muffins he made, and now it's all I think about. I could taste the fresh ingredients as my teeth went through the moist bread. The sweetness of the orange and cranberry mix feels like a Christmas morning -- blissful, satisfying, and sweet. If going back HOME or your happy place were a flavor, these breads would be it! read more

FRESH. FREINDLY. FANTANTASIC. These three words come to mind when coming here. I work in la Habra and live in Brea so every morning I pass by this place and wonder if it was any good. I decided to come in on day and I was amazed by how friendly the staff was. From my understanding it's a family owned establishment and everyone is so kind and attentive. I was greeted with smiles and hellos as soon as I walked in! The scent of deliciousness is in the air and when looking at the menu, I would always be indecisive because of the amazing selection. The fresh squeezed juices are DELICIOUS, the doughnuts are warm and soft, the coffee is just right... this is my new corner! Another great part is that they are open 24 hours a day so I can indulge any time I want! Came in here yesterday with my buddy and ordered some bagel sandwiches. We were about to head out when the manager asked us if we would like to try his blueberry doughnuts which had just come out of the oven. Of course we couldn't decline the offer and we were so glad we didn't! It was absolutely delicious! Our grandson, Garrett, and his Sonora basketball team, just won the Freeway League Championship and because we are so far away, I wanted to let him know how proud we are. I called Wases, the manager of Winchell's on Harbor in La Habra, and wanted to have 3 dozen doughnuts delivered to Garrett. Even though Winchell's policy does not deliver any order less than 10 dozen, Wases heard my "Nanna-emotion" through the phone line, and he, himself, made an exception and personally delivered the 3 dozen doughnuts within an hour!! I can't tell you how much that meant to all of us - this is a special business, and they really care about their customers.
