This place is a joke. Run fast and never look back!!!! Boy do i have a review of all time to tell...First of all... The pictures posted by this "business" DO NOT REFLECT what this place actually looks like! It's a total grimy shady dump! Sleeping in your car, or even the sidewalk would be a complete upgrade to any time spent here. There are literally zero amenities. No ice machine, no soda machine, no vending machine, no on site laundry facility. Hell, theres really not even wifi. The wifi service bumps you off every 30-45 seconds, and you have to sign back in and accept terms over and over again. Like its pathedic. Then management acts like they have no clue how to reset the router. Maybe its buried outside, because the signal is non existent. MAYBE not even the wifi router is willing to stay at this location! Then there the complete lack of customer service, the completely incompetent "r You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT contact the office 24hrs a day. They don't seem to be reachable regularly let alone 24 hrs a day. There is not any coffee available, no breakfast, NO ROOM SERVICE! HA WHAT A JOKE. Unless of course your speaking of the resident drug dealer. He may service you and your room. Or maybe the OWNERS. Who when I was staying there, went into a persons room, let their dog just go, a large 100+ lb dog, let out to just run, then blatantly went through the room, removed somebody's property, and then changed their locks. Were not discreet AT ALL. Caused quite a scene in fact for guests to see. Then proceeded to have animal control come and take away the animal, who clearly is taken care of, and not abused, whatsoever. Very clean, healthy, happy, bouncy dog. Just disgusting behavior on the propertys part. I watched the girl come home like 30 minutes later in complete disbelief as she wasn't able to access the room, and once she did gain access, she completely lost it to see that her pet was stolen along with her property. Soon after several cop cars arrived and the lady was NOT removed from the property, quite the contrary actually. The managers tried to play dumb but were sternly scolded by law enforcement for lying about the entire situation regarding the tenant, who by the way, was actually a resident who has lived there for a year. (I could hear the entire conversation as I was right next to the office and adjacent from the room that was ripped off by the owners of the property who quickly left to where ever they came from to leave their uneducated "manager" to deal with the whole debacle). What the owners did here was 1000 percent illegal, and I hope that gal sues the the windmill off this place. Oh and did I mention the black mold that was present all over the walls of my bathroom. And the amounts of meth/fentanyl being smoke a couple doors away? If the health department took a sample of these walls, I'm sure this whole facility would be gutted, and probably the biggest favor for the City of Lynden! What a disgusting eyesore as soon as you enter this town. And around these parts, they say "If you ain't Dutch...you ain't much!" this place ain't much at all but an infected herpe on the outskirts of this town! Real classy Lynden, real classy! read more

Not a very nice place at all. Looks ok from the front but they put us in the back, looks like where all the permanent guests live. Beat up cars and RV full of garbage. We didn't even want to park our brand new truck there. Booked through Hotels.com, rate was non-refundable. We decided to eat the $70 or whatever we paid and went to stay somewhere else. The bed was very old, can feel the springs when you sit on it. The 2 pillows were flat. Carpet is stained and needs to be replaced. Walls inside are dirty looking. Shower has this weird accordion style door. I didn't see any orchids or toiletries set up like in the pictures posted. The bed and pillows looked nothing like what was posted with the couple laying on the fluffy pillows and plush bed. This could be a really cute place if they did a total remodel. Overall, the place gave me the heebie jeebies. I would not recommend staying here. read more

This is the worst, most beat up room I have ever stayed in EVER! Went to run a dink full of water to wash my face. Pulled on the metal knob yo close the sink. It came out of the opening and was covered with rust. Could not push the stopper down. Had to block the drain with a face towel. Furniture was all scratched and beat up. No bedside lamp in room. Overhead light only. The only socket in the room to plug in cell phone chargers was in the bathroom, one double socket. $109 a night because why? Because it's close to the border. The room was clean, but when I checked the shower, the floor was wet. No ice machine. Not even a styrofoam cup to make a cup of coffee in. Brought my own cocoa and had to go to Dollar Tree to purchase styrofoam cups for morning cocoa. It would take a very little bit of effort and cost for these people to make this room at least welcoming. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Amenities advertised online are not true!! We made advanced reservations online to stay for a weekend. We arrived on the day we reserved, we checked in at the office, they took our credit card info, and handed our room keys. We checked out our room and it was horribly outdated, unsafe, and unhealthy!! Picture a 1970s motel with peeling wallpapers, warped and squeaky floors, AND mold and mildew walls in the bathroom. We asked to have another room, but they we apparently all booked. We were unloading our baggage in the room and walked our dogs before taking them to the room, when the person that checked us in said they were not a pet-friendly place. We showed them what was advertised online and they still kept insisting they are not pet-friendly. So we wanted to cancel are reservations, but they couldn't do it at their office. We were instructed to cancel our reservations online. We cancelled our reservations online and received an email confirmation of the cancellation. BUT, this place went ahead and CHARGED our credit card for the nights we cancelled!! AND charged more than what we were originally quoted for!!! We called Windmill's office and talked to a lady that was so rude on the phone, refused to rectify the issue, and hung the phone up on us!! Terrible customer service! This place shouldn't be in business. We will be reporting them to BBB! read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE! The Windmill Inn is beyond disgusting. It should be shut down. It is a rats nest, dark, old moldy smelling and dirty and filthy. The pictures of this Inn is not at all what it is like. We walked in and could not believe our eyes how bad it is. We left and not sure if we will get our money back but, nonetheless, there is no way one could stay there. I would sleep in my car before I would stay at this motel. AWFUL - worst place I'd ever seen. Inspection authorities should close that place down, Pictures on the website are total misrepresentation. read more

We stayed here with our two small dogs. In the middle of the night we had to rush our dog to the vet because he got into cocaine and meth that we later found on the floor in the room. There was also a marijuana edible under the bed. Housekeeping is an issue obviously. They did refund us but the vet bills were thousands. This used to be a simple, clean establishment. By far the nastiest motel, I have ever experienced. I feel like I needed a tetanus shot after staying there. The windows were covered in soiled curtains, there was NO HEAT in the room. We were brought a mini space heater. This place looks like they should rent by the hour. Best to avoid. read more

What a scam. Booked a two bed on line with pets. Got to motel and the front desk tried selling me a different room for more money (bit only one bed) plus $50 non refundable pet deposit plus $15 for each dog and dogs were required to be crated in room. He told me this after he ran my card. I asked for a refund and he started back pedaling. read more

They have shampoo and soap. They have a/c, a nice tv, frigid, microwave, and my room (22) even had a view of mt baker. The room was very nice with two big beds and they were very comfy. The rooms are clean and has the down home feel. The lady who checked me in was very nice and was genuinely warm and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you have to be in Lynden. The town smells like cows but not my hotel room. Thanks for the hospitality. read more

The good and the bad... Last weekend was my second time staying at the windmill inn in recent years; theres not a lot of options in North Whatcom county (Lynden specifically). The first time was an overnight, last weekend was two consecutive nights. I dont remember much from the first stay except the rooms were large and I found the other online reviews about the rooms being dirty were false in my experience. Again ill say, the room we had was larger than the average hotel room. We had two double beds, a refrigerator, and microwave. This stay I tried to be purposeful in noting the goods and the bads. The goods were pretty much described in the review up to this point. The negative things I noted will keep me open to staying in North Bellingham next time I visit Lynden. Do you have to iron a shirt or dress during your stay? There is no irons in the rooms. You can call the front desk and it will go like this: "Yes we have one, you can come get it." Its a basic roadside motel that gets the job done (if rest is the goal). Once you get said iron, there is no ironing board, so really whats the point of your effort. Do you need ice for your cooler? You wont find any ice on the property. Good thing Safeway is across the street. Did you forget shampoo or are you banking on the hotel having some so you dont bother fighting the TSA packing any...again, you'll be going to a nearby retail establishment to purchase some because there is none in the room. How about relaxing in front of a tv... If a 15" color tube tv works for you from 10 feet away, youll enjoy that too :- / If you need a night of rest this motel will do fine. It has comfortable beds, is quiet, and is clean. If the little things make a difference and you value them, then the $89+tax (the price of this room) will be better spent at a LaQuinta, Baymont suitez, comfort inn, Days Inn etc, 10 miles south in Bellingham. read more

Will not stay here again. There was an open condom wrapper on our floor that I noticed when I was packing up to leave. The towel rack fell off the wall when we went to take a towel off of it. There are only 26 rooms how hard is it to clean them thoroughly. And for $90 I expect a CLEAN room!!!! read more

Stayed here a few months ago, was only at the inn during sleeping hours. I was very unimpressed by the lack of cleanliness of our room. The floors felt like they had never been vacuumed, I felt gross walking even with socks on. We found a chicken nugget, tooth brush, and shot glass under the bed. I resorted to using the fairgrounds public showers over the one in our room. The couch was absolutely disgusting. We were so grossed out by the rest of the room that we wouldn't sleep on the bed as it. Luckily we had towels and random blankets in the car, ended up covering the bed with that. It seemed as if a family with lots of kids had been living there for weeks, left, and the room wasn't cleaned after. I never personally interacted with the owners/employees so can't give them a review. We ended up sleeping in the truck the rest of our stay. I guess you get what you pay for? read more

A pleasant surprise, and a real bargain! A family member from Lynden recommended this place, and we stayed here on December 26th. Our room was big, and nice and clean. Old school tube TV, but it worked just fine. Good wi-fi signal. Each unit has it's own outdoor entrance, and has an assigned parking spot just steps from your front door, which is a real plus for us. We even had a view of the mountains. There is a 24 hour Safeway with gas across the street. Free coffee in the office. The location is good if you are visiting Lynden-its on the Guide, just before you turn into town. The couple running the place were super nice, and we'll definitely be back! Ask for a room toward the back with a view. read more

This is not a comfortable place to spend a night. There was a musty (or worse) smell in our room when we opened the door, the bed sags, the shower control valve was missing parts, the walls are very thin. The window curtains were unhooked from the rods. No one seems to have put any money into the Windmill Inn in a long time. It needs some new beds and some TLC. read more

I was unfortunate enough to have to stay at the Windmill Inn for over a month as my wife was awaiting a visa to Canada. We stayed in both a regular room and eventually due to delays, we needed a kitchenette. The rooms were not that well maintained but were of decent size. When talking to the cleaning lady, we found out she prided herself on cleaning a room in under 10 minutes, it showed. When we transferred to the kitchenette we were paying close to $600 a week, you would think that at least the trash would be taken out or at the bare minimum the toilet would have been cleaned. Not to mention that the owners were not very helpful and simply shrugged it off. But to make matters worse, not a single smoke detector worked in the kitchenette or any other room for that matter. 2 out of 3 didn't have any batteries in them, and when I bought batteries MYSELF, I found out that they were broken. I informed the owners and they simply said we will fix it. 5 days later no fix. They took advantage of the fact I couldn't leave as there was no other place close to where I needed to work.
