Dear Windmills Staff, On 12/29/22 myself and some companions had an interesting dining experience at Windmills that was less than pleasant. I may not be a steward of fine dining but the series of events that transpired on this day is almost embarrassing to have to recount. Still, in the interest of feedback, I'd like to take the time to recapitulate some of the dining faux pas we were subject to. Some of these include not being brought water until the very end of the meal. When we finally received our water, the glasses were stained and clearly not washed- this poses a risk of infection and I'm pretty sure is a health code violation. Nonetheless, we did not want to make a fuss and when pointed out, the waiter asked us if we wanted them changed. That shouldn't even be a question to ask. The implementation of iPads for menus although efficient, they were filthy and needed to be cleaned. When requested hand sanitizer, we received expired sanitizer and at the very end we received the wrong dessert. Overall, the dismissive and careless hospitality was disappointing. Food was great, I had the Tandoori Chicken wife had chicken fried steak both were excellent. Service wasn't great and the atmosphere takes some getting used. I will be back again for the food hoping the service is better on the next go around. read more

They missed the mark. The good; interior decor bright fresh look and high quality craft beer with a broad selection. The bad; restaurant in search of a theme. Very large stage/bandstand with high quality very capable sound system takes up one end of the restaurant. I suspect it won't get much use as Windmills is not a bar nor is the restaurant laid out to ENJOY A MEAL with conversation when a band is playing nor anyplace to stand close to stage or adjust chairs to face stage and ENJOY A BAND PERFORMANCE or dance. Restaurant venues such as Grapevine Tolberts have nothing to worry about. Not to mention very over priced. read more

Just awful. The food was meh, at best. Spicy without being well prepared of flavorful. Just spicy. The real issue was the service. Had drinks dumped on us by our server. Zero apologies or attempts to actually clean the mess up. We literally had to ask for napkins and a mop. Just awful. We went for the live music which I was assured was performing that evening. Of course, no music. This place was terrible and I would strongly advise staying away. They'll have to do a LOT better. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Seated late for our 11am seating for our party of 5 and we were seated at our table at 11:10. It's nice that the menu is on an iPad and you can see pictures of what you're ordering. We waited for almost 20 minutes with no one approaching us to ask for our drinks or our food order. There were only four other tables that had customers, so it was not busy during Father's Day brunch time. It didn't seem like there was a manager on the floor to oversee that there were a few tables that were already tended to, and that there were two additional parties that were seated waiting like us. The few servers they had looked like they were focused only on "their" table. When we got up to start walking out, it was obvious no one from the restaurant cared they would lose out on a $100+ tab. Explained to the hostess upfront who looked totally apathetic that we were leaving as we had waited nearly 20 minutes with no one bothering to come by. I'm sure the food is good; I know that every restaurant is currently facing a staff shortage and I would have given this place grace if they looked like they tried. read more

We had very bad experience today. Had reservation at 8pm. They provided seats at 8:30pm that also in the porch with no heaters when temperature outside was below 50F. After requesting, found table inside but before ordering food, manager came and said this table is reserved and there is no place. He was such a rude guy and did not had any manners how to talk to customers. We just left restaurant and went some where. Will never come again here read more

Walked in at an off-peak time and they stated they were reservation only. Asked if they had any availability for a reservation soon and they claimed they did not. Checked opentable, and lo and behold, they had several immediately-available slots. read more

Wonderful service, food and drink from our server Kevin and the rest of the staff at Windmills. Seated on the patio with heater overlooking the lake. Beef Keema Kulcha and Orange Zest Kebabs were delicious and sized for sharing. Try the Smoking Barrel for a sweet, smoky, Scotchy old fashioned. Presentation, atmosphere and food were great for an informal birthday get together. read more

We didn't get the chance to experience Windmills because we didn't even get past the entrance. We walked in at 5pm and the very cold and non-accommodating hostess informed us that there was no availability until 9pm. We asked if there was a bar and she said yes but that there wasn't any availability there either. Horrible customer service as she never apologized or helped try to find us a table. The restaurant closes at 3 and reopens at 5pm so the fact that they were full at the time of reopening was shocking. We will not be returning. read more

Came to Windmills for dinner for the first time and had Joi as our server. She was absolutely phenomenal, I am a vegetarian and she handpicked a few different dishes to share between my partner and I. They were all so delicious and unique, highly recommend the broccoli, I didn't know vegetables could taste that good. Sad we were only in town for a couple days otherwise this would be a regular spot! read more

This is my first and last time to come here,first we didn't get to our table until 45 minutes after our reservation , the service was nonexistent. Food came out at Random times and I had to send one dish back twice. By the time I finally received the right dish it was so late and I already lost my appetite. I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless you have 3 hours to kill and you're not very hungry. read more

Cool concept, but poor execution. Our table for 5 was way too small to fit the dishes we ordered, which made serving/eating a hassle. Service was pretty slow, and our waitress was more informal than I would've liked. Food was decent, but not great and definitely not worth the exorbitant price. I have never been as impressed with a restaurant as much I have with this. I'm a picky eater, so i'm all my life I have found at least one item I didn't like when dining out, but this place FLOORED me. Every single meal was delightful, and as a South Indian I wasn't expecting it to be very authentic but the flavors were familiar and delicious. First high end restaurant that I felt like was worth the high prices. The atmosphere was lovely, and I kept itching to go pull a book off the shelves :) Will most definitely be returning here, maybe in the daytime. My new favorite restaurant :) read more

If I can avoid giving one star for this restaurant. I would because it deserves a BIG FAT ZERO STAR! The owner had a dream for over priced Mediocre Indian food. The service was absolutely horrible. Outside was very dirty and dishes on tables with flies all over the tables left unattended. The price is ridiculous over price for basic Indian cuisines. You can change the name of the Indian cuisine to make it sound gourmet. However YOU need to make it gourmet. Place was extremely slow for outside and inside. Tables were unattended. Rsvp at 7:15 on 7-4-21 The restaurant was extremely slow and empty. Yet the hostess made us wait 15 minutes. We asked to sit outside. Walked outside and saw the tables unattended. No energy in servers, they were looking extremely tired and exhausted. At 1.30pm, when we ask to do some small variation in dish, they told that they are transitioning for dinner, and they can't do anything. I am surprised to hear that at 1.30pm. Overall very bad experience, tasteless food, full of oil. Over-rated and over-priced. Not recommended if they offer at 25% of their prices too. read more

On a positive note, the food was pretty good. On a negative note, customer service. They brought my wife's food out at a reasonable amount of time but the rest of our party of 4 had to WAIT AN HOUR before we got our orders. There was no communication from our waiter that there was a problem nor did we ever get an apology. After asking for our food several times, the manager did come out eventually and explained the kitchen was backed up - not our problem. Anyway, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our table of ten had a wonderful evening with delicious food, great beers and excellent service in a relaxed, yet exciting atmosphere. The eclectic music selection was fun and interesting and we were treated to a beautiful Texas sunset. We shared a variety of dishes and every bite was fantastic, satisfying both vegetarians and non. My wife and I patronized this business this past weekend for a pre-Valentine dinner and we were pleasantly overwhelmed with great service and excellent food. From the moment we walked inside the hostess was warm and accommodating, our waiter made the best selections and the ambiance was absolutely breath-taking. There is something very strange going on at this restaurant. If you read many of the 1 and 2 star reviews here, you will begin to see an odd patter emerge. You walk up at off peak times (5:30 in our case) and are told that they are totally full.? Told the bar is full. ? Told that they don't have any availability until After 9pm. But you look around and the place is 3/4 empty and the patio has zero people on it. They don't ask if they can take your name for a list and they don't attempt to keep you from leaving in any way. It is very obvious that they want you to leave. So, we did! We drove over to the fun side of Grandscape and had a delightful patio meal at one of the other restaurants. We walked around and did a little shopping afterwards. So, on the way out we looked over at Windmills to see just how packed they must have become. What I saw was an almost empty patio. I couldn't resist! I had to go back in and see how crowded they were. But first I called them from the valet area. No answer, just disconnected. So I walked in and just walked right past the unresponsive hostesses. Place was maybe half full and almost no one on the patio. It's so weird that this place refuses certain people service. Absolutely disappointing. We waited for probably 25-30 minutes for queso and peppers (which honestly were very good) and never saw our server but twice. I went to the host stand so I could just close out since I had nothing to eat or drink and once I was signing my check (no pen, had to get that too) that's when the food came. We were so excited to try this place but were disappointed in the service. Although our server was nice, he and the other servers were too busy socializing with each other. Our kids food was brought out late and we were waiting so long to order the main course that we had to get someone else to get our server so we can order. He took so long to come we just decided to leave because it wasn't even busy and there was no excuse for the terrible service. It's unfortunate. I was very hopeful for this lovely restaurant. Fusion Indian Texas? Wow! What a combination! But disappointment ensued. Our waitress assumed some of out drink preferences. None were to our preferences. We asked about the Restaurant Week menu and all 3 of us decided to partake an that menu plus add extra items. We were told that they could be spicy and we expressed we DID NOT want spicy. The first course was inedible it was so spicy. We then asked for the 2nd course. It was less spicy but still more than we asked. We asked again for the spice to be less on the main course. Well it seemed that the waitress had it out for use - it was so spicy we politely asked that it all be boxed up so we could "take it home". I will let everyone know that this is NOT a restaurant for them. Such a disappointment. read more
