We had Windows on Washington (WoW) install a new sliding glass door and could not be happier with the end result and even the process. Knowing you are likely going to do a lot of research, get multiple cost estimates and then drink heavy amounts of your favorite 'helper' when you finally realize the cost, here is some insight that might make things go more smoothly for you. You may find lower cost estimates; however, you will not find another company that treats your home like it was theirs and have this quality of product to offer. From the initial visit by someone to take measurements, the office staff, and the install team, I quickly knew we had the right company. Everything about this door is exceptional - highly recommend getting the integrated blinds. It does not open as far as my previous (contractor grade) door but that is a very, very small footnote. Joon and his install crew were absolutely amazing in every way; truly courteous and professional in every way. As for COVID-19 concerns, there was a short (couple weeks) delay in getting the door delivered but that was fully expected. The install team wore gloves and masks and also laid a tarp on the floor from the entry into the house to the work location. Overall it took about 3-ish hours to complete everything. It is still too early to tell any difference for warmth or sound but I am sure that will not be an issue. There is no question as to why WoW has such an amazing reputation. I highly recommend Windows on Washington for window and door replacement. We had all 10 of the original wood windows and 2 aluminum sliding glass doors in our 1986 townhouse replaced earlier this month, and couldn't be happier. Brandon Shonebarger was a pleasant, straightforward sales representative who patiently answered our many questions during his in-home visit and afterwards. We liked the quality of the Okna windows and doors he recommended, and decided to bet on WoW's reputation for stellar service. We just had WoW replace both sliders (sliding glass doors and screens) in our home, and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. The OKNA Elegante sliders are an amazing upgrade over the original sliders. Not only do they look great, but they slide so easily, and the four point locking system eliminates the need for ugly lock bars. They also have keyed locks, so being able to enter the house via the sliders is a nice bonus. Also gone are those hideous mini-blinds original to the house, as we opted for the internal blinds on the kitchen slider, and hung new curtains on the basement slider. Young, the Project Lead, and his crew did an outstanding job with the installation, and his attention to every detail, no matter how small, is a credit to him and WoW. He even stopped and got out of the truck to pick up a small scrap he saw in our driveway after they had pulled out and about to leave. And this is after he caught a minor issue with a latch on one of the screen doors. He also remembered leading the crew that installed all new windows in our home back in 2013. Another job that they did very well. WoW also installed a new roof at the same time, and no issues with that job either. We are very happy with all of the work that they have done on our house, and recommend them without reservation. We are extremely happy with our window and door replacement from WoW. For context: We replaced an original drafty wood side door and ~17 drafty wood windows on a 1949 house with lead paint in the windows. We chose a Provia door and we chose Okna 500 windows. We got estimates from three companies -- the big brand one that does the 2 hour demo in your house and uses hard sales tactics (highest quote), Windows on Washington with salesman Jay who was down to earth with us and didn't use tactics (medium quote), and a third smaller vendor who a neighbor used who didn't have the best quality windows but was very nice (lowest quote). In the end, as we read reviews and talked to former Wow customers, we decided on an old 1949 house, we needed quality installers. As there was lead and we have kids, this was also a factor. We also liked what we read about the Okna brand. Our installer was Young Kim and he is exceptional. After we signed our contract, he came and did second measurements, and he was meticulous about measuring our old original side door, which is not a standard size in these 1949 houses. He was responsive through text message with me, which I appreciated. We had to wait about 6 weeks for the window/door order to come in. This is normal, and most vendors told us it takes this long. As we had lead, on installation day we had to leave the house and stayed at a neighbors to be near by. Installation was in May 2019. The team worked very efficiently and got everything done by late afternoon. Young did the trim fitting himself, and we chose a maple color trim to match the mortar on our brick (our salesman Jay had suggested this and it looks fantastic with our brick). The installation was great, and the team cleaned up everything - no trace that they were there. Young stayed later than his team so we could do the final look through, and he then went out and did a final inspection of the outside, going in to our bushes even to pick out some debris he noticed. He is exceptional, as I said. It's mid-summer as I write this. So far I can't tell if the windows are keeping the house cooler or not (just because of the weather changes), but I've noticed the sound is quieter in the house when all the windows are shut and the windows have withstood some heavy rains that have hit our house sideways. (With our old wood windows, rains like that would flood through the storm windows and water would sit in the sill.) I'm looking forward to seeing how the windows perform in winter -- our old windows would have heavy condensation on the inside in winter, and even ice; we had to put up plastic on them. I'll try to post an update on that later. Overall we are very pleased and would work with this company again. If you have an older house and are worried about the trauma of new window and door installation, this is the team to go with. The installation team we worked with was solid. read more

I waited a whole year to write this review as I wanted to actually see the workmanship of this company and I am happy to report that there has been no leaks and my condo is cooler and warmer throughout the seasons. They are pricier than other but WOW uses quality windows and you truly get what you pay for. It's worth the price! Joon and his team were great and completed the job in a few hours. Funny thing, I accidentally poked the chalking and was too embarrassed to say anything. So a little over a week ago we had new windows installed in our home by Windows on Washington. What a fantastic experience! They kept in touch with us every step of the process, we never felt like we had been forgotten. The windows came in sooner they they had quoted, and they worked with our tight schedules to get the install scheduled at a time that worked for us. The day the installers came, they too, kept in touch when they knew they might be later than expected. They finished everything by end of the business day and when they left you could not tell they had been here other than the beautiful new windows!! They cleaned up and left everything neat and tidy. What possible reason could you have NOT to gain access to the vital, valuable information he can provide?! This is a company that stand behind their products and installation. We have them installed our windows about 10 years ago. Last week, my wife tilted the window for a cleaning and could not close. She asked me to check without telling me what she has done. Naturally, I tilted the window one more time. Then I heard a cable snapped. I've had these windows for about a year now. I wanted to give them a full winter cycle before writing at a review. WOW was the third window company that gave me a consultation and it turns out that third time's a charm. The first company tried to give me a hard sell with over three hours of talking. He was a nice guy, but about 2 hours in, I realized I had a soothsayer on my hands. I spent so much quality time with the guy that I felt guilty not buying windows. I ended up giving him a Spiderman 3 DVD for wasting his time (no lie). The second company had quality windows, but they were just way too expensive. In comes Windows on Washington to save the day! Greg came in for a consultation and we instantly hit it off. We actually ended up hearing each other's life stories (no lie). The process wasn't exceptionally long and he was able to answer all my questions. From one Greg to another, I really enjoyed his professionalism and helpfulness. The windows from WOW are great quality at a great value. They give you two models to choose from. I got the less advanced model, and so far, so good. The windows are great on energy and easy to open and close with the fixtures. Before these windows, my bedroom would be so cold in the winter. It felt like I was practically sleeping outside some nights. Now, my room keeps a good temperature. The installation process was smooth. We had one little hiccup where they wrote down the wrong measurement and had to come back and do it a few weeks later, but everything else went smoothly. I recommend this company. BLUF: I worked in the high-end window and door world for 4 years and have to say that this company is FANTASTIC. We will use nobody else for window or door needs moving forward. We live in North Old Town Alexandria and needed to replace the original exterior basement door that was a custom size in a cramped space with a frame that was incorrectly built into the brickwork by the original builder. Most companies we contacted looked at the small door size and location of the install and said some version of "sorry, no way this is doable." Some said it was because they couldn't do a door in that size and others because they couldn't handle the complicated install. The only company other than Windows on Washington that did say they could do it quoted us over $7,000. We were starting to think this wasn't going to be feasible when Jay came to our house to do a free site survey and provide a quote. Where most salespeople are in a rush and always looking to up-sell or push you for things you don't need, Jay was the opposite. First and foremost, the man knows his doors and windows. I never mention my background in the industry because I like to see if the people I'm talking to know what they are doing, and simply put Jay is an expert. He knows the products, the area, the regs, and the intricacies of installation like the back of his hand. At no point was he pushy; on the contrary, he walked us through every option there was, including DIY options. He explained that this had to be a custom project, but that wouldn't be an issue and showed us the PROVIA options that would work. Most importantly, the quote was very reasonable and less than half of what we had been quoted by the other company! Once we decided to move forward with Windows on Washington, which was a no-brainer at that point, the company was great about communicating with us about next steps. They worked around our hectic schedule to have an install team come out to do a full survey and get another set of measurements to ensure the door being ordered would be exactly what we needed. They also took the time to see how our drainage system worked, as our drainage pipe is right next to where the door was being installed. Then COVID-19 happened. The company stayed in touch with us noting the door had arrived, but not rushing us at all. They said we could hold it with them as long as we wanted until we were comfortable doing the installation. They also explained the various mitigation measures they put in place to keep everyone safe (masks, gloves, taping off the work area, etc.) We decided to set the date 6 weeks out and on the day of the job Joon showed up with his team ready to get to work. First, they taped off the work area as promised and did an amazing job double wrapping our washer and dryer, which are right next to the install site. Joon then walked me through exactly what he was going to do, which I really appreciated. I was worried the install would take a long time or be crazy loud (we have young kids) and boy was I wrong. Joon is clearly a master at his craft because three hours after arriving, the job was done. When Joon was showing us the finished product, he looked down noticing a smudge of brick dust on a base board, apologized and immediately took care of it. The attention to detail was extraordinary and something rarely seen with other people we've had work on our home. I can't recommend the company, Jay, or Joon highly enough. read more

We had several quotes and WoW was very competitive in their pricing. We finally replaced our original windows (1967!) and are extremely happy with our choice of Windows on Washington. Everything about the processes was fantastic, from the information/bid gathering to the planning to installment to the product. Initial consultation: We had several other bids from other companies with extremely pushy salespeople ("sign tonight or your "deal" will fall through!!", even though the "deal" was approaching twice our other bids). Brandon from Windows on Washington was knowledgeable, professional, not pushy and he gave us a straight forward, no-nonsense bid. The contrast was dramatic. Planning: WoW was extremely professional, and focused on our interests. When we changed our minds about the color of the outside flashing at the very last minute (3 days before the installment!), even though they had confirmed our initial choice twice the month before, they didn't bat an eye at the change. The color we wanted was not in stock, and they offered either to postpone our installment and get the color of our choice or to use another very closely matched color they had in stock. We chose the nearly identical color they had in stock, and I was impressed with how positive and accommodating to our desires they were. Installment: The installment team, let by Joon, was outstandingly meticulous. The work was clean and efficient, I note that *every* single time they entered the house, they took their shoes off. We replaced all the windows on a large town house (29 windows!) and they were done in a day and half, leaving the house spotless when they were done. They even removed and reinstalled the safety bars on the 7 downstairs windows (which I note that some of the other companies refused to do, saying we had to find our own outside contractor.) Joon is a true professional who clearly takes pride in high quality work. Product: The Okna windows WoW uses are great.
